Guy Fieri Helped Feed Fire Victims and First Responders | Eater

"A Santa Rosa mission that became the largest recipient of the set's soon-to-expire groceries: it receives deliveries five days a week during the roughly four months the show films there. The charity consistently gets high-quality donations—fresh produce and meats, including items like Peking duck—which volunteers and staff say are noticeably better than typical contributions and are of real benefit to the homeless population they serve." - Brenna Houck

The prices are not thrift store prices, prices are more similar to Ross. More expensive than Goodwill, by a lot. Their prices are not clearly marked and when I asked for a refund for an item with a “pink” tag that was obviously closer to red than pink, they wouldn’t refund it. Red was 1/2 off, pink was not. I asked for a return immediately after I realized it wasn’t half off, didn’t even leave the parking lot. They definitely should have clarified the difference between pink and red at the register, the tags are literally are one shade off from each other. In my opinion, they are both red. Other items in the store marked pink had light pink stickers. The girls at the register were unhelpful. Also, the girl seemed so confused and wouldn’t let me buy accessories separate from an item because they had no price stickers. The accessories were not part of the item, they were accessories. I had owned most of things before, all bought separately. The girl at register acted clueless and wouldn’t price the items individually. Any other thrift store has just set a reasonable price and sold the items, but that was somehow beyond her capabilities. They also marked a used, old bath mat for $8, you can find a brand new one at target for that price. Prices are ridiculous for mostly very used condition items, and most thrift stores in the area have much friendlier staff. Staff that realize it is a thrift store and are excited for you when you get good deals! Not overcharging you then not doing anything to right their confusing prices. Photo to show the slight difference between pink and red tags.

Google
Terrible price gouging with items that are even sometimes overpriced their new MSRP price. For example I’ve seen multiple Crosley Cruiser record players here for $50+ and old “junk wax” 1990s complete baseball sets for $80-$100 when the same ones are on eBay for $20 max. Not worth it with many better places close by. Definitely has become for-profit compared to 10 years ago.

Google
This was my favorite place to shop. In this county I rely on thrift to survive. The prices in this store are absurd. When I asked how they thought it was ok to have incredibly high prices when serving a community who can not afford them. They replied with, there is a voucher program. This is a county program and it is hard to apply for. They are just out to make money, so sad and definitely not to the purpose of "helping" that they profess!

Larger store. Semi organized. No changing room available to try on clothes but they do have a 4 day return policy. Seniors discount available from 55+.

Honestly, it is infuriating knowing they take donations as a religious affiliation and mark their donations as expensiveas they do. They post things over 500$ even though there are noticeable damages and stains. Shoes are priced more than new ones at Marshall's/TJ Maxx. Also, if that was bad enough, apparently, if they don't put their price stickers on something, you can not purchase that item. I overheard the guy at the front cash register turn away 5 people just in the 10 minutes I was there because they put things out without stickers. Seems like a company issue vs. a consumer problem. THIS IS NOT A THRIFT STORE, more or less a greedy, overpriced junk/consignment store. Highly recommend going elsewhere!

Ridiculous prices! As of March 2021, here are some price examples in this thift store: used Dyson vacuum $250 (whomever sets the prices in this store should be aware that Dyson sells this model for $179 with warranty!), fan $35, (Walmart sells a new Lasko fan for only $21) dirty office chair $15 (find this for free from offices that switch to working from home nowadays), 1 curtain panel $15. burned candle $2.50. Absolutely preposterous! The person seeitng the prices should get a grip on reality.

Yelp
Redwood Gospel Mission Thrift Store has a nice sized parking lot which is definitely a plus. Just a heads up though, making left turns out of the parking lot can be tricky because the street is pretty busy. The store itself is big and packed with all kinds of things to browse through. I noticed both times I came that they didn't have any media items like books, DVDs, or CDs, so I'm guessing they don't accept those donations. Instead, the store is full of children's toys, some board games, home goods, some clothes, furniture, and a few electronics usually bulky items. Prices here are kind of all over the place. They do a half-off color tag sale once a month which is a good way to save. That said, the inside of the store felt quite messy and the lighting was pretty dim, which made browsing a bit harder. The staff are very friendly and seem to really enjoy chatting with customers, which adds a nice personal touch. For me, thrift stores without a media section don't really feel like thrift stores. This place feels more like a used dollar store with furniture. Unfortunately, I haven't found any real treasures on my visits.

Yelp
Popped in here to try to find a few things for our new home. Man, these prices were not what I expected. Plenty of things to choose from but unsure what worked and what didn't. Quality of the products was hit or miss. It definitely is searching for a needle in a haystack depending on what you're looking for. It was not our day to find any gems here. Better luck next time.

Yelp
When it comes to price everything is relative so I can't dispute that some have found this store overpriced. I feel quite differently so I wanted to say that amazingly low prices can be found here. I had been shopping the store for a couple of years after having moved to Sonoma and think their kitchen/glass/tabletop areas are great. There is a wonderful selection at all times, very well displayed and the prices seem low to me. But up until a few weeks ago I had not shopped the store for a more expensive item. Then I went in for luggage which most thrift stores do not even carry. Turns out they had a large selection of carry-ons at the back of the store and I was able to get a very helpful clerk to pull the ones down from the shelves that I wanted to see. The results of this 10 minute search was a selection of three good quality and in good condition bags I could choose from. The choice was made simple by the fact that one of them was an excellent, almost new condition $695 Briggs&Riley expandable carry-on in a current model still being sold today. I paid $15.99 for this $695 bag making it the most extraordinary deal I have ever scored in 20 years of shopping thrift stores including great ones in Santa Barbara from which I acquired many high quality things. All thrift stores are dependent on their donors and the presence of this bag confirmed for me that the Mission has some wonderful donors. It is always up to the buyer to know quality and to differentiate a deal but if you are knowledgeable of the category you are buying in you can do very well at this huge and well-stocked store. I also find the staff very helpful and nice as people, too.

Yelp
Fun place to thrift for items - many new items & the people are friendly- they play nice music in the store as well :)

Yelp
I love their mission to feed people, I think their thrift store prices are awful. $30 for a boring yellow pyrex bowl? $999 for a Saxophone? $30 for an older, worn blender? $245 for a Vitamix Blender? The donations are free to help feed people but the prices are too high for shoppers. I heard one customer ask when the Senior discount day is. At a thrift store! I can find a blender for free rather than spend $30 on it. It's a good idea for a balance of having fair prices and raising funds to feed people. But these are silly prices that leave a bad taste in my mouth and I'm not the only one. Please consider lowering your prices, selling the inventory quicker and probably making more money in the long run. Give your shoppers the same kindness as you do feeding people.

Yelp
This place is OVERPRICED FOR USED STUFF SOMEONE IS pricing many items for more than what they cost in the store NEW. I asked an employee about a used jacket that's priced at $60 IF they Would go lower on the price and they would not. Over and over again I'm seeing things that came from the dollar tree, and they're pricing them for $5. Lots of the Clothing is ridiculously overpriced ..... they are often charging more for items used than what they cost new!! I love buying from thrift stores and supporting good causes, but the items should also be priced appropriately.

Yelp
First and last time going in. Other than overpricing free and used items they receive. Their employees are just plain rude. Not approachable. Waiting patiently in line no one cares to check. Employee too busy chatting on side. Once they decide ti walk over they have the most annoyed attitude as if I interrupted their meeting. No "hello" "how are you?" And once I paid all they can say is "bye, bye, bye" as if they are shooing me away. Rude lady with the orange hair and pouty face!

Yelp
I am so glad to have signed up for Yelp reviews just now. I want to thank Redwood Gospel Mission for their support of the LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR PUBLIC CHARITY in the past when we were in Sonoma County! We have since moved out of state, but when we were located near this thrift store we were so supported by them in gaining items we needed for our own charitable cause. I cannot thank them enough!!! They deserve many stars (in heaven and on earth) for their work in spreading God's love to those in need! I used to be the Founder and Volunteer Director of LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR PUBLIC CHARITY so I know of their good deeds and love! Thank you!

Ethan K.

Yelp
The person who manages this store uses the google lens to price their items. This may seem efficient and not a big deal. However, the google lens shows what resellers are price gouging older items for AFTER refurbishing said items. The items in-store are never new or refurbished. I asked about an old dirty cast iron pot that was missing its lid, willing to take it home and spend an extra 15 bucks to make it nice again. However, the worker had to wait for his boss to take a picture of the pot to get the price before telling me that it was worth 65 dollars.... WAAAY too expensive for a 40+ year old 8 inch pot in a thrift store. I later took a picture of the pot using the google lens and found that other resellers were selling the pot in mint condition for the same price, lid included. I also checked some of the other items that I had bought in the past including a toaster and a food saver. I found that Amazon sells those items brand new for the price I got them for. So even though the selection is pretty good, it's important to remember that's only because the donators that give these items for free are generous and not because the redwood gospel is worth your time. If you want something nice, you're better off on the Facebook market place or even just getting something brand new. At least then, you'll know that it either works, or someone tried to make it nice again before selling it to you

Yelp
I found out about this place on my Nextdoor app. I normally take my donations to the Goodwill but the last time they wouldn't take several items ( like new cookbooks, brand new garden drip hose, plastic sealable bowls, etc). So I gave this place a call and within a couple of days they came to my home to PICK UP EVERYTHING. They Just asked to have the items in boxes that are closed so they can be stacked. I heard later about the good things they do for their employees. I'll have to pay a visit to their store.

Yelp
I honestly go back and forth with this thrift store. Friendly staff. I have found some really great items for reasonable prices. However, sometimes they price things so high it feels it's like not in line with their mission of helping the community. I've heard them talk about how much things sell for on eBay - but are they actually looking at what things sold for, or just what people are listing them for? And are they clean and in mint condition? And shipped to my door? Plus, they get things for free. Most of the hard goods are pretty disorganized, though they make an effort to have nice displays on the end caps. Furniture is overpriced for secondhand, IMO. Today, I picked up a wall tapestry that was marked $15 and had multiple cat turds stuck to it. So I don't think I'll be buying any of their linens that aren't still in original packages.
google avatar

Ashley P.

Yelp
It's a great location, lots of great stuff. Unfortunately the furniture and most of the clothing is always WAY overpriced. If you find a pair of vans in there they price them almost always a few bucks less then what you can get brand new ones for. I often stop by, I do love to look here and I know it's a great cause...but SO expensive!!!
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Every time I come in here it's usually for something random and as a last resort! The employees are less that approachable, actually they a simply downright rude! Definitely the last time I will come here! Overpriced for a thrift store! I'll go down the street where you are always greeted with a warm welcome and friendly smile. For being a place of God the employees are a complete misrepresentation, so so so sad!
google avatar

Yelp
Prices are way too high here. You'll get better deals at other thrift stores. I honestly don't understand what they're thinking.

Patty I.

Yelp
The best thrift store in Santa Rosa! I have often found many items that I don't know how I lived without for so many years. It truly is a hidden gem that offers a treasure trove of unique finds at unbeatable prices, including vintage clothing, home decor items, audio equipment, tools, bicycles, exercise equipment, arts & craft supplies, and even the occasional motorcycle helmet. The staff is friendly and helpful, making the shopping experience even more enjoyable. Despite the 20+ mile drive, it is always worth it for the incredible deals and one-of-a-kind items I find at this amazing thrift store.

Elida A.

Yelp
I would give this place a negative -5 star review if it be available. Seriously, this store used to be a diamond in the rough but as of early this year it has changed dramatically. Save your money or go buy at a different thrift, these guys have become thieves and they'll lie to your face. I have taken picture of just a small amounts of items that they ate over pricing and they don't even care that they are over pricing, they leave the tags on from other places and stamp their cost on there! It's as if they are calling you stupid for shopping there, like we are blind or something. You might as well spit in my face and Open my wallet. So sad to see this store thrown away like that, however they are trying to serve (recovering addict, the church etc) they are simply using them NOW and using it a faux pas excuse. If you care at all about there your money goes, don't go here. This is NOT defamation to them it is merely facts and personal observance. Don't donate here a either.

Scott M.

Yelp
WAY over priced. They get this stuff for FREE! Was looking at a lamp and their price was $14.99. Turned it over and it was from TJ Max with a $15 tag on it. WTF? That is just one example. Many, many more. Seems GREEDY. Staff does not seem happy to be there. Old heavy guy behind the counter loud and obnoxious. Selection has gone downhill over the years. Not for me. Never again.

Yelp
Redwood Gospel has been a great help to us when it comes to food and clothing when we were low on funds. Now they have gone an extra mile and helped us into a new place by also donating furniture. They were all very nice and helpful people that love to help others.

Yelp
This review is on donating items only. This place is absolutely amazing! The whole process was so nice and easy. I drove around and they even offered to remove the bags from my car if I wanted that I was donating. It was so convenient and has been so different (in the best way) than some other experiences that I have had donating items at other locations in the past. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I was able to get a donation receipt and I love what they are doing in the community to help others!!! It felt so good to donate to them knowing that they are such a great cause and that they are really helping people in the community! I will definitely be donating here more in the future and look forward to checking out the thrift store in the future in order to find some good deals!

Jan D.

Yelp
I was impressed with how well organized the store was. It's a big place and after seeing the area with fans, heaters & electronics, I vowed to purchase our next one there, (My Mother-in-law burns through new ones every season). I found several clothing items I would have purchased except the fitting rooms were closed. There is a 3 day return policy but I live too far away to make that feasible due to gas prices. Good positive music and cheerful workers made this a pleasant shopping experience! I don't mind paying a couple dollars more for the good work they do AND I try to donate to them exclusively my best giveaways.

Isabela G.

Yelp
It's well organized and there is a good selection, but it is dark, smells funny, and has massive fans blowing dust around. You can't try things on, but there is a 3 day return policy, so that's cool!

Yelp
This is a well organized thrift store. Reasonable prices. Easy to find some lovely treasures - -check them out!

Yelp
I have dropped off many loads and they are always welcoming and eager for the goods.

Yelp
This place is a hit and miss but I've been very lucky to find things at times at a reasonable price. Today, was not that. I bought over 40$ ( usually buy more) worth of stuff from their dishes department and I found an extremely cute plate with cats on it. At the checkout they told me they could not sell it to me. I understand why they have that policy everywhere in the store because people will take off the prices and make something up. I'm not stealing, I really wanted that plate, like a lot! I would've paid way above price. They made no exceptions, and wouldn't put it on hold. (They have made exceptions before, if it was one or two items without prices and I'm buying over 50$) It's really disappointing because it makes no logical sense and it also implies that the costumer is not important. I know this is a thrift store but I shop here to give back to the community and for sustainability. Their cashier was also not friendly, and seemed annoyed when I asked if there was any other way I can purchase it. I have several shifts the next day so I can't stop by and they wouldn't give me another option to let me know when this item would be available. Today could've turned out nice, and would've gone home with something I totally love, but instead, I was disregarded as a costumer.

Yelp
I've found some really great stuff here. It's really close to my house so I go here often and I found a cool ukulele and a TV for super cheap. The only huge negative is the parking lot it's the worst. You cannot get out you cannot Park. it's horrible. walk if you can. No bathroom. Lots of furniture yard stuff and kitchen stuff. Nothing is particularly clean clean but it's all in good condition

Tracey S.

Yelp
I will always donate to here.one of the Best Thrift stores around.Good prices and the money goes to a great cause.Love them

Jessica P.

Yelp
Hadn't come in a while and thought I'd stop by and I walked out astonished and empty handed. I don't know what happened or what they are thinking but everything is way and I mean WAY overpriced. It's so bad. For example, a vase had the price tag for $15 you flip it over and new from Ross was $12. A Christmas house was in a box for $15 and they priced it at $27. And theses items were not vintage and this is only a couple of examples. I walk to the furniture section and literal falling apart furniture that isn't even real wood $150. When my aunt mentioned to the guy hey this price is more than the original price for buying it new he was not friendly about it at all. He ended up apologizing when we were walking out (both empty handed) 15 minutes later. There's just no way this is okay. I understand resellers have kinda ruined the thrifting experience but also this is absurd because at the end of the day these items are DONATED.

Alice E.

Yelp
*Review on donating items only* I've donated my belongings to Redwood Gospel about 4 different times and it's been a pleasant experience every time. The volunteers/employees are very straight forward and will help you remove your items from your car (if you ask) - they're not super chatty, so it's a quick drop off! I've donated - furniture, clothes, kitchen appliances and tools, pillows (clean and no stains), and shoes. Additional notes: They do not accept stuffed animals. Easy parking and efficient drop off process. Cute coffee place in the same building (in the back). They're accepting donations during COVID. Overall, I've had a great experience with dropping off my unneeded items!

Yelp
Possibly my favorite thrift store in Santa Rosa of the close to a dozen I've been to. I like a big thrift store, with lots of options, and a good mix of clothing and stuff. This place has that, and the prices are right. No, it's not fancy, no it's not a boutique. No, you're not going to get treated like you're shopping at Macy's. What you are going to get is a big, clean selection, at good prices. The clothing is well sorted by size, something that other thrift stores often fail at. Parking is easy. The employees are friendly enough. The bathroom is clean enough. Seriously, what more do you want? I'll keep coming here, and recommend it to friends as a great thrift store.

Coco J.

Yelp
Everyone here at the donation center was super helpful, organized and nice! It made me want to support them.

Marianne M.

Yelp
Lots of stuff in this store, but clothing section is kind of disorganized. Great shoe section, though. Place feels a little grimy, but appreciate that they accept most donations, and aren't too picky.

Yelp
This shop is a regular stop when I'm thrifting. I have found countless items here and the prices are generally great so I'm happy to continue my adventures with RGMT. I, too, chuckle when I see a pair of Old Navy jeans priced like designer and pair of Seven for all Mankind in the regular section. Just recently bought a wingback chair in *great* condition for $30 but have also seen furniture way overpriced, imho. No rhyme or reason sometimes but that's why I enjoy the adventure of thrift shopping. I don't have any issues with staff as I think they are all friendly, even knowing my name since I'm (ahem) pretty regular. I think it's funny to see a pic of the "messy" dressing room and seeing all those ripped-off tags on the ground. Crazy to fault the store for customers who try and sneak a deal. Anyhow. I've been in there several times and watched the whole point behind the store which is to raise $$ for those in need. I'm glad there are organizations who unashamedly follow what they believe and though imperfect, do their best in the process.

Yelp
I am 15 years old and while in the store about a 30 year old man came up to me and hit on me. when i told him my age he told me oh that's okay, then proceeded to rip the piece of paper with his number on it out of my hand. My mom then yelled at the man and all of the workers looked at her disgusted as if she was in the wrong. fuck this store
google avatar

Sarafina B.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying you're better off dumpster diving. 1)This place is so filthy and worst of all OVERPRICED. Go to any other thrift store in the neighborhood including goodwill and you will find nicer items at a lower price - like who wants to buy jeans where the entire butt has an unrepairable hole...?? 2) The staff are rude and there is a severe lack of management. The "manager" is more friends with the staff than a leader... IF he were a true manager I would think he would have his employees sweep the fitting rooms several times a day. Both fitting rooms were disgusting as if they had not been swept in weeks (see my photo added) one even had a half eaten ice cream cone on the floor. I went about an hour or so after they opened and they were not busy, staff standing around etc... plenty of time to not be gross people. 3) I have been here several times - I want so badly to give this place a second chance however it is worse and worse every time I go! Sure they have a large store but quality is really lacking and I have never left with any items. The conclusion - Go to a different store in the area where items are screened and there is a sense of pride in the business. I will never go back YUCK.

Yelp
My first time donating today. Simply an incredibly easy and pleasant experience. In the past I have attempted to donate to Goodwill in two other cities, and I never want to return or give again to Goodwill. At Redwood Gospel Mission, a very pleasant young man came right out to my car and very quickly unloaded everything for me. I cannot say enough good about the donating process at this organization. Thank you!

Yelp
Excellent prices. Designer clothes. Always great finds for bargains. Customer service is not so great though........strange behaviors or very rude. The loud forced evangelical style soap operas and shows loaded with guilt about how everyone is a sinner and a pathetic loser no matter what they do, makes for a poor shopping experience. Otherwise my favorite thrift store for the most bang for your buck.

Yelp
Over all a very good thrift store experience. EVERY TIME. They also help poor people with furniture and the proceeds from the thrift store fund the gospel mission and women's ministries so good + good.

Yelp
* Their price for a computer too old to run current software: $200. It's possible to buy a much better one new for $80. * Their price for a TV: $65. I recently bought a similar TV at Goodwill for $15. * (this is my favorite) Their price for a damaged bag of kitty litter: $3.99. It's $1.18 at Walmart. Granted, the prices at all Sonoma County thrift stores seem to have risen lately. I've occasionally seen overpriced items at others. And they must be selling things anyway because there are never many tags that are the color that's discounted each week. But this is ludicrous. This used to be my favorite thrift store, but I haven't purchased anything there for maybe a year now. Two stars instead of one because they do have a good selection.

Yelp
There are a number of great thrift stores in the North End of Santa Rosa, California. Unfortunately, this Mission Thrift Store is not one of them. The employees are completely clueless and they have 'specials' -- today was all green tags, half off. So then they put pale green tags on everything and when you get to the register they tell you 'that's yellow, this is green..." and show you a dark green. There are no green tags on any item in the store. A rotten way to coerce people.

Yelp
Much like many other thrift stores, this one is a moving target. Although it stocks some items as a matter of routine, a significant percentage of its offerings literally changes by the hour. As with any, this thrift has its fair amount of outright junk, yet what may be junk to me can be a 'treasure' for someone else, I presume. I include it on my 'thriftscapade,' as I drive around Santa Rosa, hitting the other thrifts as my route allows, or simply 'doing the circuit.' Some days I've stopped without securing a 'find,' to continue on my way only to return again a couple of hours later to discover a new item has been put out on the floor that meets a need I didn't even know I had - or something for which I've searched for months, even years. At other times, a notion arises for a a specific item and the 'order' is immediately fulfilled on this one stop. One just never knows. I have purchased new or nearly new items that went out on the sales floor just minutes prior to my arrival. Stopping frequently increases the likelihood of such a 'find.' As to the "shopping experience," it seems to me that many people have become accustomed to being entertained by various retail experiences rather than simply having their needs addressed by a purchase. I suppose there is a certain 'adrenaline rush' experience by dropping an obscene amount of cash on a trivial acquisition, if that's desired. Somehow that seems rather perverse to me, though I understand how that might happen. If recreation and/or an adrenaline surge is a focus, I suggest a big department store would provide an abundance of that kind of amusement for which some people yearn - but at a significant markup. On the other hand, if the perspective is to be entertained by discovering something at a true bargain price, this might be the adventure of a lifetime that provides the satisfactions of happenstance along with an acquisition of real value - just do not expect to find the expensive cosmetics counters greeting you as you enter the store. (There's a reason why the perfumes, facial cremes, lipsticks, nail polish, etc. are located in the front of the department store - - This is the most expensive retail space then have and the MARKUP is HIGHER than anything else they sell...!!!) I suspect that it's always a challenge to keep a thrift store sparkling clean and uncluttered. By the very nature of its offerings, a hodgepodge of things others jettison, not so much because it's no longer functional, rather because it's usefulness to the donor has been eclipsed or phased out, an unpredictable process at best, the sales floor is likely to always appear somewhat disorganized. With the high traffic volume (much higher than a high-end department store), customers contribute to the lack of orderliness as they sift through the various offerings. It appears that some donors meticulously clean their donations while many others donate with no such attention. I always expect to wash/clean anything I purchase. If that's not your style - again, I'd recommend the department store. I've yet to walk into this thrift to find an obvious path formed by customers treading through dust, dirt and debris. The concrete floors are adequately maintained - just keep in mind that they are concrete, not high-end Italian marble. (Again...., may I suggest the high-end department store if that's desired...) As for the "thrift smell" reported by others, I've never encountered anything offensive - just keep in mind that there is no perfume counter... Though I'm not a Christian music fan, which one often encounters in the background at this thrift, and I'm not so much interested in their religious perspectives, I do respect their charitable mission, so I'll keep going to this thrift store, just as I continue to stop and shop at several others. I like the unexpected 'discoveries' and the people have always been friendly and courteous to me. I have to wonder if the few less than friendly interactions others report aren't more likely 'personality conflicts' than any real discourteous behavior on the part of employees of this thrift. In any case, I doubt if any such interaction is intentional. I suggest anyone wishing for an 'interesting journey' or an 'unexpected treasure discovery' check out this store. For anyone seeking a high-end entertainment venue, this may not be the best choice. I rather enjoy the quirkiness of this thrift store. Color me eccentric if you must. I'll proudly wear that badge.

Yelp
The people working here are RUDE and have no customer service skills. Once, they accused me of switching the prices on items. Today, when I was trying to buy a jacket that was marked (ridiculously) $20, the chick behind the counter said, "That's mislabled, it's actually $45!" Then when I left it at the counter, the girl tried it on and asked another employee if it looked good on her. While I was checking out, they were speaking in Spanish about me! I told them, "Yo hablo espanol!"

Yelp
I'm not a big fan of forced evangelizing in return for a cot and a hot, but I suppose there's worse places my money could go. They have a pretty big shop and lots of assorted bric-a-brac, but the highlight is a lot of decent-quality TVs for around $40 and some furniture that looked pretty nice. I had trouble investigating further because the "light Christian rock" they play drives me back out the door in a hurry. But they have decent prices and seem to get some good donations.

Yelp
The Redwood Gospel Mission thrift store is huge, more like a warehouse of thrift items. It is well organized into sections and has an eerily large selection of Christmas items year-round. The prices are really good for a thrift store, way cheaper than Salvation Army or Goodwill. They also receive returned items donated by Costco so you can get some pretty good like-new Costco items. You will spend a lot time looking through their gigantic selection of clothing. The building does have a funky smell though.

Yelp
My first trip here and I was actually looking forward to the "light Christian rock"... but it wasn't playing. :( Seemed like they had something Christian playing on the TV sets for sale, but it was so low and I wasn't interested in TVs so I really couldn't tell. I mainly looked just for clothing. Yeah, the furniture was a bit pricey, but they had quite a variety. There were vacuum cleaners, some $15 and some close to $100. But the $15 ones were pretty good. Lots of interesting kitchen stuff, an assortment of exercise equipment, some toys, and rather pretty jewelry. Other stuff as well, too numerous to list. Kind of a big place, but maybe smaller than Goodwill, and not as organized with the clothing. Two main things I learned about shopping for clothing there. 1) CUTE! About the same price as Goodwill, but the quality and namebrands were way better at Redwood. 2) DISGUSTING dressing room. There was one, and it happened to be the bathroom. No full length mirror, horrible lighting, and filthy filthy floor. And of course it smelled like a bathroom. I took a skirt off the rack to place on the floor because I just couldn't step on it while changing. There was no place to hang the clothes up I that I was trying on, ended up hanging them on the handicapped bar by the toilet. I almost gave up on buying clothes because of the dressing room, but I'm glad I didn't. I bought two blouses, a wrap, capris, really sweet wedge shoes, and a beautiful purse. Some were extremely expensive designer brands. All cost about $25. The purse was $3.50 and I looked online, and it sells for about $90! I'll probably go again, but I'll make sure to wear socks that I don't like and bring febreeze.

Yelp
This is definitely a thrift shop for people who do not mind the typical "thrift shop" smell/look. It's a nice size, their things are very much organized in like a garage sale type of style, not visually appealing but if you're willing to dig through items, I'm sure you'll find something!

Yelp
Sometimes I find great things here, but most of the time I am not impressed. The music is too loud and it is right in your ear if you are looking at purses. Also, the staff are loud and unprofessional. The one guy with a beard is super loud and jokes around with his coworkers at the front counter. I understand talking to others, but you don't have to yell! I will go back, just in case they have the kind of vintage dishes I like, but it will be a quick in and out trip. It is not relaxing to shop there.
