I recently stayed at the refinery hotel and y'alls need to grab a drink because this is an experience!!!! I have been to the rooftop and have read wonderful reviews about the Refinery Hotel so I was excited to finally check this place out. They have an amazing deal that includes parking in your reservation which is across the street from the hotel, and 2 complimentary drinks that are part of reservation (to claim at the rooftop).
I have never been blown away in my life by a hotel. As someone who has previously worked in boutique hotels, every time I step into a hotel, my hotel management hat comes out and everything becomes second nature, and I look at every detail and every staff member.
Obviously due to COVID, lots of changes are made but even with that, I was still blown away by the service and the impact. I was able to get an affordable nightly rate for an amazing space and thinking that for most NY hotels like any NY apartments, all spaces will be a bit tight. I did not expect to get so much space! I had a King size bed, with a closet, a huge bathroom and shower with so much detail and an actual desk, and even a corner chair that could serve as a reading nook.
They seal the rooms for you so as soon as they clean the place and they even use UV lighting to clean the minibars, they put a sticker on the door, so you know no one has entered your room besides housekeeping. The hotel smelled so clean and fresh, it was seriously the best thing to walk into. The front desk staff was so hospitable, they went above and beyond to help me and guide me through my whole reservation and stay. Once you arrive to your room, you are the only one who can break the sticker once you open the door.
I got a complimentary bottle of Red Wine as I booked the room as a birthday gift and had no idea that the owners made their own red wine. I normally don't like dry red wines, but DAMN WAS IT GOOD!!!! I would buy it if it was available online or even in the hotel for purchase! Upon check-in, the person at the front desk was so hospitable and nice, I forgot to get her name but thank you for being so wonderful.
The bed was so comfortable along with the sheets and pillows, I have not had a good night's sleep in my own apartment. And let me tell you, whenever I have my dream house, you damn know I will be calling the hotel to ask what kind of bed, where did they buy it, and what sheets and pillows they use as I will purchase that for my dream house!!!! You will be sleeping like it was 2019 (Pre-Apocalypse) y'all!!!
In booking a reservation, you get complimentary perks that you can select from, so if you want discounts to coffee shops, tours, chocolate places, or even their online shop, they provide you a discount code for the vendors they partnered with 24 hours prior to your arrival. I wanted to purchase the branded wine/bottle opener and saw it was sold out and they didn't have any in the hotel. When I checked out the GM gave us a complimentary candle, which was one of my top options and I even was willing to purchase another bottle of wine and they gave us another bottle as a birthday gift! WOW!
They asked us about our stay, if we needed anything, guided us through everything and he even held our bags while we had breakfast outside.
I wanted to place a tip for the team, but the manager did not even want to take it from me and that was when I was blown away. That is a person and manager of leadership, ethics, and quality and I trust that a manager like Tyler, who helped us that day, is a great asset to the hotel and a great leader to a team during this difficult time. Tyler, thank you for making our stay so memorable, for being so courteous and for your outstanding hospitality.
They think of every detail that a guest may need and have it in the room. They have water, sparkling water, candy, sodas, razors, chargers, universal charges (all for purchase), but so convenient in case you need it for emergencies. Just looking at the items in the room, you can tell someone went above and beyond to think of EVERYTHING. And I mean everything!!
I can not express how much I was extremely blown away. If I were still in the hotel industry, it would be an honor to work for this hotel and team and due to my background managing boutique hotels in Miami Beach, my standards are always a bit higher than a regular guest and let me tell you, I am speechless and blown away.
Dear Refinery Hotel team, management, housekeeping, and all staff, Thank you so much for all the details, the efforts, you have done just to make my short stay as memorable as possible. You have me as a loyal guest and a huge fan of the Refinery Hotel brand and I will definitely be back.
Bravo to you! If this was how it is during COVID, I can't imagine how it was before or even how it will be after things get better.
