The 10 Best Restaurants in Clarkston, Georgia | Eater Atlanta

"Refuge Coffee Co. on East Ponce de Leon Avenue is a purpose-driven coffee shop with a mission to provide jobs, training, and a safe space for Clarkston’s refugee community. There’s a cozy seating area inside a converted 1960s service station, where customers can take drinks from the Refuge Coffee truck parked out front where the gas pumps used to be. (Owners Kitti and Bill Murray hope to outfit the space with a new kitchen soon.) It’s not unusual to find weekly food pop-ups and artist markets in the parking lot, too. Refuge also includes a location in Midtown. A third location is headed to Norcross." - Beth McKibben

The Best Food Trucks and Food Truck Parks in Atlanta and Metro Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"The activist-driven coffee company provides job training and opportunities for Atlanta’s refugee community at its Clarkston and Sweet Auburn locations. But Refuge still rolls around town delivering coffee via its red food truck. Schedule the truck to make an appearance in the neighborhood by texting “truck” to 678-613-4670. General manager and Syrian refugee Ahmad Alzoukani will be in touch to gather location details and arrange a time for the truck to arrive for a 30-minute mobile coffee break. Please remember to tip generously." - Lia Picard

Great coffee shop with great mission! I tried the iced chagacino and it was a very pleasant surprise. Wonderfully balanced and with a nice hint of the mushroom flavor. The almond croissant we had was also delicious. Plenty of seating outdoors and indoors as well.

Refuge Cafe is in a great location, right in the heart of Midtown, steps from the High Museum. I’ve been there a few times and the coffee and drinks are solid. The atmosphere is nice enough, especially if you’re just stopping by for a quick break. That said, it’s not the best place if you’re trying to get work done. They don’t offer their own WiFi, and instead direct you to use a public network, which didn’t work for me at all, especially in their outdoor space. I also wish there were power outlets in the outdoor seating area. I had to cut my visit short once because my laptop died. Overall, it’s a nice spot for a quick drink or meetup, but probably not the best option if you’re planning to work remotely.

The coffee was good and served its purpose. The service was decent and no complaints. The shop was close quarters and seemed hard to move about. I would recommend anyone who visit if you want a quick coffee drink!

I've found my new spot to get some work done. What could be better than having a coffee place near a museum? It allows you to blend work with the pleasure of exploring an excellent exhibition. The customer service was friendly and exceptional. What's even more satisfying is that you're contributing to a meaningful cause by supporting refugees. They offer living-wage, full-time jobs, job training, and mentorship for our refugee neighbors. Additionally, they create a safe and welcoming environment for people to gather, enjoy conversations, and savor their coffee. It doesn't get much better than this 🙏🏿🧘🏿‍♂️

So l tried the Chagachino. I think it’s good if you’re itching to try something earthy and don’t like coffee but has a nice complex flavor when made well. For my taste buds, it’s not my preference so I’d like to go back and actually try the coffee but I love the way they prepared it here. The atmosphere was quiet and I enjoyed the kind service I received. It’s a nice place to study if you’re nearby and there’s not a lot of foot traffic at the nearby theatre and museums. Right next to the elevator for parking.

Cuteish coffee shop - an aesthetic like if you converted a chipotle into a cafe. Basically would only use this place as a way to get coffee, not to sit around and work. I came here to work and they offer no WiFi? There’s so much workspace, but they want me to connect my corporate laptop to the free unencrypted WiFi next door? PSA to anyone coming to work here: Using public WiFi without a password leaves your data exposed to hackers, making it easy for them to intercept and steal your data. The summer drink offerings were fun though.

The atmosphere is a winner for this location. If you enjoy Woodruff Arts Center and The High Museum, this is the spot you'll want to grab some coffee, tea or a warm pastry. The outside patio is in direct view of the High Museum. Inside seating is also great to bring your laptop or catch up with a friend. This Coffee Company also benefits local refugees and always provides welcoming service when I visit. If you're a coffee lover, the taste and quality of this coffee won't disappoint. I love their Blueberry muffins to go with my iced coffee. This place is worth the visit and you'll enjoy the bonus of taking photographs around the creatively designed High Museum. It's also footsteps away from Colony Square in Midtown.

Was really curious about this shop as there were not a lot of reviews but dang it’s good! Space is really cool with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. They were carrying Perc coffee at the moment which is one of my favorite roasters. My nitro cold brew hit the spot and the cranberry scone was delicious. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Really glad I decided to stop by:)
