Fifty Licks Expands to the West Side With a Bridgeport Village Ice Cream Truck | Eater Portland

"I noticed Fifty Licks opened a summer pop-up ice cream truck at Bridgeport Village in Tigard on Friday, July 26; the truck is stationed in front of the Regal Cinema through the end of September, selling scoops and pints. Their flagship scoop shop on East Burnside was destroyed in a fire in May, and owner Chad Draizin says he will not reopen in the same location; by returning to their roots in the ice cream truck they hope to expand reach to their first location west of Portland proper. I also know they operate additional shops on Southeast Clinton Street and Northwest 21st Avenue." - Janey Wong

Believe it or not, the photo attached is NOT the souvenir shop at Disneyland, this is the concessions line for your local Regal Cinemas on a Tuesday night!! I know. Pretty unbelievable, right? We love the movies and have been to this Regal many many times over the years, and never did I ever think I would feel so compelled to leave a review for the movie theater, but here we are. At some point (last year I believe?) someone had the idea to get rid of individual lines for concessions across every booth, and route one single line throughout a souvenir store, and it has turned the concessions experience from a cool 1-10 minutes into a half hour ordeal. I totally understand trying to push some more merchandise, but this has totally upended everything that’s fun about the movies. Because everyone is routed through the one line that is spaced away from the counters, the young adults working the counters don’t seem to feel any remote sense of urgency. I can’t blame them, either! When you have no added pressure of a line queued up to talk to YOU, how could you be motivated to sling popcorn as fast as you can? It sounds silly, but seriously, who wants to get off work, head to the movies and wait in line for a half hour? I’ve tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, but each of the past 5 times we’ve come, it’s been a 20-35 minutes wait for a bucket of popcorn! We can’t keep doing this, there are plenty of other local theaters that seem to still understand their customers.

This is a nice outdoor walking mall with a good assortment of stores and restaurants, mostly on the high end. It was so hot on the day I went though, that the walking around want very pleasant, except to duck in to the A/C... and then have an ice cream.

It's a standard Regal theater in a nice area. As the only establishment open later at the Bridgeport Village, it gives the place a slight sense of nightlife and a fun thing for both families and younger people to visit in their free time. The interior is fairly big and they offer all the new movies that anyone would want to see. Prices, in my opinion, are a bit expensive when you take into account the quality of the theater and experience (it's kind of dirty inside, even though the room floor plans are spacious). But overall it's not bad.

This theater is really nice, and probably the best theater popcorn I have ever had. They usually have a lot of movie merch and they put some good discounts on them. ScreenX is hummm... interesting for sure. The first time me and my husband went to see something in screenX it was Sinners. We loved the movie, but during that screening, one of the project wasn't working so it kinda ruined the experience. But we went back with a friend because he wanted to see what screenX was going to be and it was working again. We saw Superman.

Regal, your "outside food/beverage" policy is crap. I had to speak to the manager about a coffee I was bringing in that was against this policy. The last time I saw a movie, and ordered a coffee at the concession stand, there wasn't any ready. The movie I saw before that, it was ready. The movie before that, you "didn't sell coffee." I like to get there 10-15 minutes after a movie starts so I can avoid the barrage of commercials and previews that ruin future movies. So I don't exactly want to wait 10 minutes while four people fumble around trying to figure out how to make your gross coffee. Also, water is a beverage and water is allowed for some reason. Why aren't you strong arming people to buy $6 water bottles? Which you actually have (as opposed to the inconsistent coffee). And do you know what I'd buy if I'm not allowed to bring in the coffee? Nothing. So what are you gaining here? You're behind in the times here because it just pisses people off, at least some people. I know, I know, you "strive to make Regal the best place to watch a movie." Nu uh. And do you know what you can sneak in in a water bottle? Literally any alcohol, coffee, or other beverage you also don't sell. You already know people are bringing their own snacks, so why not roll with it? I buy candy in your joint and sometimes a soda. But this stupid, arbitrary rule doesn't make me want to even buy a ticket, let alone concessions. Whereas if you actually got with the times, I'd appreciate not feeling like you're just another declining experience like so many others.

Absolutely love this theatre and the convenience of it being six minutes away from our house. The kids love it adult adults love it. The rewards system is amazing and discount. Tuesdays is even better.

I went to see Superman and unfortunately had a very upsetting experience with a staff member. After the movie started, I pulled out my phone to silence it (with the brightness all the way down), trying to be discreet and respectful. A girl who worked there saw me, and instead of politely addressing it from a reasonable distance, she walked past my row, snuck into the row directly behind me, and suddenly whispered directly into my ear. It startled me so badly that I jumped and started crying uncontrollably. I didn’t even understand what was happening at first it felt invasive, scary, and completely unnecessary. After that she had quickly scurried off while after I had to slowly gather myself together. I was extremely uncomfortable and on edge for the rest of the film. I completely understand the need to discourage phone use in theaters but the way she approached me felt threatening and inappropriate. There was absolutely a better way to handle the situation that didn’t involve sneaking up behind someone in the dark and whispering in their ear. I don’t think anyone should be approached like that in a public space. I’m sharing this because I think the staff could benefit from training on how to handle these situations in a safer and more respectful way. I went to enjoy a movie, and instead left feeling shaken and upset.

I really liked watching my movie here. Definitely clean, quiet and had a really great atmosphere. The only downs that was at the seats were a little small. I'm not really used to small seating. It made the entire experience feel a little cramped. But overall it wasn't a really bad experience at all.
