New Orleans’ Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants | Eater New Orleans

"It’s not unusual for a pizza spot to be kid-friendly, but it is unusual for a pizza spot to let the kids make their own pizzas. Reginelli’s provides the dough, sauce, mozzarella, and any small pizza topping for less than nine bucks, now available for both dine-in and to-go. Plus, the large menu includes plenty of wines by the glass, sandwiches, baked pasta, and salads." - Eater Staff

Google
Did an online order. Took over an hour to prepare a pizza and salad. pizza... And Salad... The restaurant wasn't even at 40% full.. Definitely not worth the wait. Would not recommend this location.

Google
As a driver picking up this establishment, they take ENTIRELY too long to complete an order with an empty dining room. They seemed to be more worried about cleaning to get out of here early than getting the food out in a timely manner. Ive worked in many restaurants so it was easy to identify what was going on. Maybe the kitchen staff need to be paid better, because you get what you pay for.

Love the pizza here! And spinach dip is great. Waitress was incredibly friendly.

We came in here on a rainy day looking for a way to spend an afternoon and it was a great decision. We came specifically for the make your own pizza and it did not disappoint. They bring each child pizza dough, sauce, cheese and whatever topping you order. My kids loved creating their own pie! About ten minutes later, a steaming hot, crispy cheesy pizza arrived at our table and it was delicious. Staff could not have been nicer and we will definitely be back!

Google
Reginelli’s Pizzeria is a little off my normal path but I am really glad I stopped by. The decor is lively, with photographs of music legends on the walls. The background music is also very nice. Service was good and the combination pizza that I had was really good. They also have outdoor seating for nice days.

Google
The place was nice, cozy. Ordered a cheese pizza and a Detroit style pizza with the pesto on it. The cheese pizza was delicious, on the other hand the pesto Detroit pizza was gross. It has way too much going on with it. By the way for two pizzas the price was over $50 I believe that they are over priced. The cheese pizza was awesome but the other one, I wouldn’t recommend

Google
Great pizza, very tasty. The Tuscan Chianti was pretty good too!

Google
I liked the location and the waiters were very friendly. I love the Saltinbocca, the capers are so good! Tony's Pick is also one of our favorites. We tried something new, the BBQ Shrimp Detroit style pizza... YUM 🙌 They have a great wine list and their margheritas are nice and strong 👍

Yelp
Don't have one bad thing to say about our experience. We came after the zoo and before a steamboat cruise, so we had limited time. Told the host this, and while discussing what looked good on the menu (he stayed to chat once he seated us) he said those were super fast things to order and he'd send our server over. The food was indeed quick and very delicious. Teen got a cheese pizza and loved it. We shared a cesear salad and the holiday special of a brie calzone. Chefs kiss! Booth was comfy and the whole place was bright, open and welcoming. Esp. appreciated a ramp to the seating area from the entrance instead of a step, wasn't important for us but worth noting for wheelchair users or those with mobility issues (though I think we did go up steps to get inside the restaurant, don't honestly remember). Street parking worked well for us, not sure if they have a lot of their own.

Yelp
Reginelli's is a kid friendly pizza restaurant. The menu offers a build your own pizza in which kids can prepare their pizza at the table. You are able to order all of your desired toppings. The children in our party loved this aspect of the restaurant. Even though the restaurant was short staffed, our waitress was nice. There is free parking available right next to the restaurant. Overall it was a pleasant experience but the place could use more tidying up.

Yelp
We came on a Wednesday night around 7, and decided to sit outside because we had our dog with us. They weren't very busy, so food came out quickly. Food was great, and the waiter was nice as well. Got the perfect pairings, and the Spinach and Artichoke dip. Prices are not bad, and was worth what we paid.

Yelp
Great location! We had a group of 13 and they could seat us together. Service was great. We ordered Many pizzas and a few other dishes. They allow kids to make their own pie! So that helps! Would come again, but woof try the deep crust next time.

Yelp
The smell of the food from the street brought us in! The waitress was friendly and accommodating! She checked on us often. Brought us our drinks and chicken wing appetizer in a timely manner! We choose a booth to sit in but there were plenty of tables! It was quite busy when we were there but it seemed as all the waitresses were on point! My fiancé ordered a 10in with anchovies, prosciutto and mushrooms! It was amazing! I had the shrimp lay irresistible gnocchi! Also amazing! I could eat that daily! He had Abita amber and I had a frozen margarita! Both delicious!

Yelp
Do not get delivery Pizza was hard as a rock Wings cold Eat in if you want Reginellis Great food Detroit style Sicilian pizza is the best Really wish they would carry ultra or bud light on draft and would have built a bar seating area for those of us that dine alone Strange atmosphere and service is SLOW BUT- All that aside- The food is great!!!!

Yelp
Thanks to the team at Reginelli's for preparing what became a delicious picnic lunch lunch by the lake in Audubon Park. We split a turkey panini sandwich and a spring green salad. The sandwich was stacked with sliced smoked turkey breast, tomatoes, sprouts, etc. and placed on fresh bread. The salad was a simple mixed green salad, loaded with Roma tomatoes and crumbled Gorgonzola cheese (my favorite!!) and was packed with a citrus vinaigrette. Because we were trying to do a small picnic, we didn't order the pizza or Stromboli, although they looked wonderful. Having said that, NEXT TIME!! If you're headed to Audubon Park, or just looking for casual dining, check out Reginelli's. This was our first visit to Reginelli's, but we will be back SOON!!!!

Yelp
My family and I stopped in for a to-go order on a Sunday. We ordered 2 pizzas and an appetizer. We were told the wait would be 20-30 min. We waited for over an hour! We were told it would be 10 minutes after waiting for 20min then waited over 30min for 2 pizzas. No explanation given. No one checked on us. Dont come to get pizza if you expect to get pizza in a reasonable amount of time.
google avatar

Bill T.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood pizza bistro. We never went inside and sat at the outdoor plaza. Portions are large. Had a lunch combo that arrived quickly and had to take half of the panini home.

Yelp
I don't give low star reviews very often because I like to give places a chance. But after a terrible and SLOW experience and reading similar reviews, I have to add to it. Probably took over fifteen minutes to ask us for our order. Took another 45 minutes plus to get the pizza. Many employees and not many tables filled. I think online orders interfere with customer service of sit-down customers it seems. Ordered a small. Got a large served to us. Thankfully not charged for the large but got some passive aggressive weirdness from waiter about the mess up THAT WAS ON THEM.

Yelp
Came here for my sister she's attending Tulane role wave! And we came here after I landed we ordered the garlic twist and they were good anything is good when you are hungry then we got the Detroit pizza that wasn't very good it was kind of charred and the pepperonis were too hard the bread tasted like a donut it was sweet nothing wrong with that just different

Yelp
Reginelli's Pizzeria is a classic--I feel like you can't really go wrong with some dinner from here! There's something on the menu for everyone, and it's reasonably priced. I went to an event they hosted recently and got to try some of Reginelli's wines, along with the Dressed Hummus, Watermelon Salad (summer special), and Eggplant Reginelli appetizers. I absolutely love the Eggplant Reginelli--it's my favorite!
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
Pretty good pizza and a reasonable price. I called in and picked up, front desk worker was polite and friendly. Imagine the rest of the staff is the same. Just got a cheese and pepperoni pizza so nothing crazy to report on that. Several families were dinning in and looked to be a family friendly establishment. outdoor seating available too.
google avatar

Yelp
Hey managers you need to teach your staff how to handle orders from online. I ordered and showed up at 30 minutes after and waited another 40 minutes and still no pizza. There were 13 others waiting as well for online orders. You can do better.

Rob ..

Yelp
Food? Amazing. Service? HORRIBLE!!!!!! Let me start off by saying I do not ask for much. The experience started off positively. I was given water right away when I sat down, but then my server did not come for over 15 minutes after! The server did not check up on me and would leave for long periods of time and then return reeking of cigarettes. Not appropriate for a family restaurant. I am really disappointed in the service I received at my most recent Reginelli's visit. The food was good as always but not worth the horrible service experience. Watch out for the blue-haired, emo chainsmoker!!! I will not be bringing my children back here. Thanks a lot!!

Gina M.

Yelp
I've never ever wanted to write a review before about food, having worked in the restaurant industry all my life...but this is just insane. We placed an order for delivery and one of the items we ordered was the bread pudding. Supposedly it had "salted caramel" on top, but what we got was a burnt, extremely salted top while the pudding itself wasn't set yet. It tasted like runny scrambled eggs with sweet cubes of bread in it. It was so disgusting that after eating a spoonful of it I had to drink water to get the horrid taste out of my mouth! We also ordered a 2 liter of Dr. Pepper. They called me back and said they were out of it, but they'd send me a gallon jug of it. Who the hell has gallon jugs of Dr. Pepper??? Well they sent it, I poured a glass of it then spit it out! What we got tasted like equal parts flat old soda and urinal water. It was so retched that I had to call them and let them know what they're serving people. That went nowhere. I'm just writing this so you can be warned. Do not order from this f*#@@+& place, EVER! IF I COULD GIVE THEM LESS THAN 1 STAR I WOULD.

Yelp
So, before our vacation to NOLA, someone told me "don't order pizza in New Orleans". It was their opinion that with so many other food options, pizza was not something to waste your time on given that in her experience, most of it in NOLA tasted like frozen pizza. Well, somehow we ended up disregarding her advice not once but twice. I know. It was really a matter of time and need; the first time, Reginelli's was opening for the day and we needed a little lunch to fuel the start of our day. The second time was a late night need to soak up the liquids of Bourbon Street at a pizzeria there. Um..that one was very disappointing. This one, Reginellis? Not at all. This pizza was GOOD. The interior looks and feels like a 1980s pizza joint. This is not a bad thing, IMO. The pizza choices are unique. We opted for a small, hand-tossed Saltimbocca pizza---chicken, capers, prosciutto, a garlic sauce. It was really, really good. It was also very fairly priced and just the right amount of food to kick-start our day. Affordable craft beers to boot? Sign us up.

Yelp
I haven't gone to Reginelli's in years, and decided to come back to celebrate my birthday last month for lunch. Service was pretty good, pizza was good and came out pretty fast. I'm excited to come back and try their happy hour specials. $10 bottles of wine on Wednesday, say less! I would have preferred larger wine pours, it seems like I was getting less than the standard. The restaurant is handicapped accessible when accessing from the parking lot on Magazine Street.

Yelp
first off let me start with the food was fabulous! We chose to eat at this location before we went to a concert. It was bad from the start. we ordered drinks and it took 20 mins to get them. the waitstaff was very uninterested in doing their job. we placed our order and waited and waited. it took 45 mins to get our food. When we asked the waiter how much longer, he proceeded to tell us that the kitchen got backed up with door dash orders. 3 tables walked in after us and got their food before us, 1 actually finished their food and left before we got ours. When we finally did get out food (1 pizza was wrong, so we had to wait again) it was dropped at our table with no plates or offers to refill our drinks. Our experience was awful! When we asked for something we were made to feel like we were a problem. Never will I ever patron this location again.

Yelp
Man... this place was BUSSIN! Went for a quick lunch and man was that the right decision. First of all, I love the location here. Right on the corner of state and magazine giving you that real New Orleans feel surrounded by the shade of historic oaks and Spanish moss! Even the inside of the place is super neat with a modern feel and an awesome colorful atmosphere. The service was super helpful and laid back which I can appreciate. Now the food was so worth the visit alone. I got the perfect pair which allowed me to try two of their dishes so I got a slice of pizza and half a sandwich while my girl got another sandwich and the soup of the day. Plus we started off with the spinach and artichoke. The food was so tasty and hit the spot! All for a decent price as far as two people with an appetizer. Totally recommend eating here! Go check out my pictures for a more in depth look at each dish *insert drooling emoji*

Yelp
Always love the Cauliflower Crusted Frescon Pizza it's the go to! Add chicken, capers and lemon deliciousness ... always friendly staff ...
google avatar

Dana P.

Yelp
Heidi the manager addressed the wait time issue with us, and she couldn't have handled it any more professionally! The food is always great tasting, I recommend the Gnocchi!!

Graham A.

Yelp
I have eaten here three times now and the service is so bad it is as though someone is going to jump out and say we have been "punked" or something. Maybe try delivery?
google avatar

Yomarie G.

Yelp
Amazing pizza! I cant believe im saying this but its the best pizza by far. It has the perfect crust, amount of cheese and amazing choices. We are so happy we tried it before leaving New Orleans!
google avatar

Julia P.

Yelp
Reginelli's is consistently a great place to grab a bite with friends and family. The Spinach and Artichoke dip is a MUST, and the focaccia dipping breads complements the dip very well. The pizza is always great. They're notorious for their cupped pepperonis. I will say the pizza isn't generally very saucy, so if that's what you look for in a pizza, just know you may need to request it. Otherwise they never disappoint! (Not pictured, we also got the Chicken Salad, which was also very beautifully presented, very light yet filling, and delicious, so much so that it didn't last on the table long enough to snap a pic!)

Jake D.

Yelp
Family owned pizza chain here. Their pizza is amazing I won't lie, and service is pretty chill. It's what you'd expect from a local pizza place
google avatar

Courtney K.

Yelp
Saw the Detroit style pizza and had to try - it did not disappoint! It's no Emmy Squared, but it's a fraction of the price and delivered to my door, no complaints! Not as thick as Midway (read: better) not as crispy on the edges as Emmy, but NOLA doesn't have an Emmy, so an excellent substitute! The marinara and something on the crust tasted sweet, which my friends and I liked but my hubs did not. He raved about the Caesar salad, however, and it was definitely one of the better ones around, great flavor on the dressing. The spinach and artichoke dip was a little smaller than I expected, but very good and still hot when delivered. Sustainable packaging too! Solid Covid delivery choice- delivery was estimated to take 60 minutes but actually took 90 so order sooner rather than later. Great communication on delivery!

Yelp
I'm not much into pizza but their gumbo pizza is pretty darn delicious. Maybe it's also because I was starving I dunno. It took a while for the food to be served. I read from others that they didn't think much of it saying it's too greasy or whatever but honestly I haven't had a pizza that's not "greasy" and to me, it wasn't greasy. The shrimp was fresh and the sausage wasn't greasy. The dough was fresh and tasty. Again this is coming from a gal who doesn't like pizza. So me giving it a four star is very very high ratings.

Gigi M.

Yelp
I used to eat at this restaurant a few years ago and really like it. I moved away and came back, so I decided to try this location for the first time and was dissatisfied. Nothing tasted like it did a few years ago. Food has gone downhill, especially for the price. I ordered appetizers and pizza, and everything came out at the same time. On top of everything, they took very long to bring out the food. The table was dirty with food from past guests. Lemonade had an off taste. I ordered the honey/ sweet wings, and they barely had sauce and too much fat. Garlic knots were overcooked, and some were undercooked, and flavor was different too. The pizza crust was tasteless, and some parts were very thin. Very sad to see how bad they have gotten. Won't be eating at this franchise anymore.

Michael R.

Yelp
Reginelli's is a case study for great customer service. A group of friends wanted pizza, but one of us is Dairy-free, and Gluten-free. Reginelli's offers a cauliflower crust. When we got home, the pizza was wrong - called them and they rectified it immediately. So while we didn't get to try the pizza that night, will definitely be back to try again. (Apologies for the mangled review earlier - between Siri and lost reading glasses, it was word salad)
google avatar

J P.

Yelp
Good pizza! My favourite is the gumbo pizza, which comes topped with andouille sausage, shrimp, and pickled okra. Prices are on the higher side though.
google avatar

Silas B.

Yelp
This place was amazing. The pizza is definitely the best thing there. Wish I could give it more than five stars. The menu is diverse. This place is not just like how restaurants take 5 minutes to make bad pizza. This place is amazing.
google avatar

Anthony T.

Yelp
Fresh! Nicely portioned dishes from appetizers to pizza! You definitely won't leave this place feeling hungry as everything comes in large portions. Fairly large place that seats a good number of people and is very kid friendly. There are a lot of items I've yet to try, but the Uptowner sandwich is a must when you're feeling like something quick for lunch, and even dinner hence the large portion. To anyone that loves garlic, must get the garlic knots as they are a better twist on your traditional garlic bread. There are also a variety of pizzas to choose from, but you may also create your own pizza with your personal toppings. The freshness of the the foods will get you coming back for more! Forget those fast food chained restaurants and get you a fresh made pizza from Reginellis!

David B.

Yelp
If you are craving Detroit Style Pizza in Nola. This place is good. Will order the pizza with no Honey and extra crispy if possible. The seasonal salad was amazing.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
Had a dinner with the family Friday night, Libby was our waitress. She was terrific. The food came out great. They have heart healthy option for me with my diet needs. I really appreciated that!
google avatar

Cristina D.

Yelp
Great pizza, pasta and service. Our waiter made a recommendation for a pasta dish with tortellini, shrimp, and spicy cream sauce. Yummy!!! Huge portions as well.
google avatar

Mel M.

Yelp
My husband and I ere looking for something different to eat and we hadn't been on Magazine Street yet so we headed that way. We came across this gem and we were pleasantly pleased. Our server was super nice and helpful. Explaining menu items and answering questions. He kept great conversation through out the meal and made us feel great. They had a menu for lint which was amazing. We ordered few lager beers, crawfish pizza and crawfish in a cream sauce over top grilled eggplant, amazing. It's decently priced and had a parking lot! Definitely worth a try.
google avatar

Adele P.

Yelp
I didn't think I'd like this all that much, being a Brooklyn Italian who moved to north Jersey, but damned if this wasn't pretty good! I was pleasantly surprised. My daughter wanted to stop here on our walk back from Tulane, and I kind of rolled my eyes. Pizza in New Orleans? But hey, it worked! My daughter had a Margherita pizza, and I had sausage and pepperoni. Both were really good. Service was ok, everything was good, and we were satisfied after having had a long walk. If you're in the neighborhood give them a try.
google avatar

Yelp
I've eaten here a few times in the last couple of months at the Magazine and State location. Parking is ok. The restaurant is clean and the staff (everytime), is friendly, helpful and polite. The first time I ate here with my girl (Babycakes) in December, I had an Italian Deli sandwich. It was very tasty! Crunchy, flavorful focaccia bread with quality ingredients of turkey, ham, pancetta, provolone cheese and dill aioli with a cold salad of cherry tomatoes, capers, fresh basil, red onions and olive oil. Sizewise, I would have liked a larger sandwich, but given the ingredients and price, I guess it was about right. Babycakes won the evening with an appetizer of Roasted Cauliflower with roasted garlic and a soft herbed goat cheese butter, and an Italian Salami salad of Mixed greens, marinated artichokes, red onions, roasted cherry tomatoes, capers and walnuts mixed with strips of hard salami, served with basil pesto vinaigrette. The appetizer was so good, Babycakes only gave me a bite and ate the rest herself (grrrr)! I enjoyed it so much, I came back for lunch the next day, and ordered the same app and salad for myself!! Delicious! Last week we returned, to find out the Roasted Cauliflower appetizer was seasonal and not offered at that time (darn it). I ordered a gumbo pizza. It was ok. I didn't like the Andouille sausage (kind of greasy) and pickled okra I felt didn't go with the pizza. Babycakes ordered a Eggplant Reginelli appetizer (Whole roasted eggplant with olive oil, fresh garlic and fontina, topped with a soft herbed goat cheese butter). It was just ok. She had the Italian Salami salad again. Note to Reginelli's: Get that Roasted Cauliflower on the menu.....please!!!

Yelp
A group of my girl friends and I came here for a casual dinner before all going our separate ways for the summer. We tried to order a couple glasses of wine, and we had to show our IDs to four different workers just because we "looked too young" so they didn't believe they were real (they were). Quite frankly, it was ridiculous, and we took our business elsewhere. We have gone here since we have grown up and thought it was the perfect neighborhood destination to close our summer together. unfortunately, we were all wildly uncomfortable and felt insulted leading to our decision to leave. The staff whispered behind our back and left the entire front of the restaurant unoccupied so that they could gossip about us. You guys suck. Xx
google avatar

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
I like Reginellis pizza! They are consistently great. We ordered a large pizza with delivery. My sister got a Tiramisu that was yummy.
google avatar

Bryan P.

Yelp
Fantastic food and charming atmosphere in a cool neighborhood. We didn't have the pizza, though it looked great. We had two of the sandwiches, and they were terrific.

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
The gnocchi could have been worse. Our host, Sam, was great and deserves a raise. The ambiance was warm.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
We come here every time we are in NO. The pizza is amazing and the garlic knots can't be beaten. The real secret is the dough which is just the right mix of chewy and toasted. They moved across the street a few years back but the quality and people remain the same. Good for kids and small groups but high end pizza for adults You'll notice the well selected and very high quality ingredients on the first bite. Don't worry about straying from your typical pizza and trying one of their specials. You'll be rewarded each time.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
I didn't break any new ground by ordering a margherita and a hummus with pita, partially because their menu didn't quite offer the intrigue or variety of some other local pizza places I've tried in terms of topping choices or sides. However, they were well-attended even at an off midweek time. What they produced certainly disappeared quickly enough given my hunger at the time. I end up with a 3.5-ish sentiment, and a pizza that was tasty but not enough to keep me from driving elsewhere if I wanted more.

Lori R.

Yelp
Usually the family favorite Not today. Although everyone was friendly - Our server didn't offer a beverage refill; Pizza was skimpy on the size; The table wasn't completely clean. Ugh.
google avatar

Kim L.

Yelp
There are not many cheap Italian places in uptown, so I often resort to Reginellis for cheaper pasta. I ordered a large Caesar salad, custom calzone, and tortellini pomodoro. The Caesar salad was big enough to share and was standard. For my calzone, I added pepperoni and mushrooms - it already comes with mozzarella and ricotta cheese. I really enjoyed it, and it was a decent size. Each custom calzone begins at a 8.50 base rate and increased with each topping. I would've asked for less ricotta cheese, since the whole middle tasted like only ricotta cheese. I also would've have asked for marina for dipping, since I rather dip my calzone rather than top it off. The tortellini pomodoro was good - I added meatballs which tasted amazing! But to make the pasta even better, I asked for a side of white cream sauce, and mixed that into the pasta, which is a 1.50 extra cost. I enjoyed my experience and will come back. My favorite here is the pesto pasta, which I usually get! My server was also very sweet and attentive. What makes this place a 5/5? The service and consistency of food

Gretchen D.

Yelp
They messed up a pick up order. And the asparagus and avocado salad had barely any asparagus or avocado. This place has gone downhill. Maybe should go back to just pizza
google avatar

Yelp
You can live a lifetime and never eat at every good restaurant in New Orleans. I loved the smell of pizza that greeted me at the door when we arrived. We were seated immediately and began to peruse the menu. We kept it simple with a pepperoni pizza for my little girl and the a Tony's Pick for us. Loved 'em both. You just can't go wrong here. Pro tip: Don't drink the wine on the table.
