Yelp
I wanted to take my siblings out for dinner on Friday evening, and they really wanted Alfredo. I did some searching on Yelp and decided upon Regino's. To sum it up frankly, the food was just great. The service was very disappointing.
To start, our waitress was rude. My brother and sister agreed it wasn't just me. We were one of the only tables seated in the restaurant and it was 5pm, not close to close or anything. Taking our orders, she had a bad attitude. I asked for cheesy garlic bread and mozzarella sticks for us to start with, then ordered my entrée of Shrimp Scampi. She was writing for a good 10 seconds and my brother started to order and she put her palm out in front of him motioning to stop talking and said "hold on," without even looking at him. Then, she asked me what pasta I wanted with it. I didn't realize I had to choose, which isn't a problem, the way she cut him off was just not very nice. Then (this was really odd to me), upon realizing we finished our complimentary bread (delicious, by the way, freshly baked, warm and soft on the inside with a nice crust on the outside), she asked if we wanted more. We said yes, and she met us with "But you just ordered garlic bread. You still want more bread?" Huh?! She offered. Also, drinks were $4 and she didn't really offer refills except for once. Anyway, I could probably go on and on, but I should just talk about the food now.
We wanted ranch for our cheesy bread and mozzarella sticks, which we asked for (not without being met with a surprised stare), and it was never brought to us. However, both appetizers came out after about 20 minutes and were simply delicious with the marinara sauce served. It all tasted homemade. The cheesy bread was more of that fresh baked bread, topped with bubbling cheese and real garlic. The mozzarella sticks were perfect. The breading was seasoned wonderfully and the cheese was how it supposed to be, gooey and hot. Notice the photo of my sister doing a "cheese pull".
The entrées came after about 30
minutes. Both my brother and sister got chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. My brother finished his entire serving. He said it was "bussin". My sister could not finish her portion and took the rest home ("I ate too much appetizers") , but she said it was really good. I had a bite and the sauce was so rich and creamy. With the red pepper flakes available to us at the table, even better. Probably some of the best Alfredo I've tried.
My shrimp scampi with angel hair was good. I received a good amount of shrimp to the amount of pasta there was. I really enjoyed the sauce, I love onions and there were lots of those in butter and lemon. It was very lemony in some spots, even though i took out the lemon slices cooked with it, but I still enjoyed it overall with more of that delicious complimentary bread and real butter.
Sadly, we didn't have more room for dessert.
So... Overall, I'm conflicted here. The food was spot-on for us. There seem to be many regulars here, for good reason, the food is just amazing. I feel a little bad posting a 3-star review, but good service is definitely important, and we felt we didn't get that. As I said, I could continue about everything she did that irked us, but I think I summed it up illustrating her attitude in those 3 scenarios. I still tipped, I almost always do, just because of my personal belief that everyone deserves to make a living with their job. But I don't know... This place has been going for years and years without any issue and maintaining a good rating, so maybe she was just having an off day or something. I will give Regino's another chance sometime.
