REI

"The name REI comes from reimeiki, ‘a new beginning’. The décor is monotone, the food pairing is wine, the fare is modern Chinese. The familiar standards of Chinese dining are on the menu, including Sichuan-style bean curd, steamed chicken with spicy sauce and stir-fried shrimp in chilli sauce. The chef deftly matches home-style seasonings with seasonal ingredients. This is neighbourhood Chinese food refined with a distinctive inspiration, such as twice-cooked pork with spring cabbage, and sweet-and-sour pork." - Michelin Inspector

Incredibly fancy yet affordable lunch set. The szechuan chicken had a great and interesting flavour profile. Together with rice, pickles, soup and dessert everything came for 1.700¥. Great price for the value.

Was drawn to the minimalistic exterior of the restaurant while walking by and tried out their lunch. Jazz music with Chinese food was unexpected but cozy. Ordered the Prawn and Squid XO sauce stir fry dish which used fat juicy prawns with mushrooms and vegetables. The dried prawns and scallops used in the sauce brought depth in the flavors which was delicious and showed how the dish was cooked with care. A little expensive for a lunch but totally worth the price.

Delicious Sichuan cuisine! I would have preferred it a little spicier, but everything was delicious. The chicken dish was outstanding, and the cilantro was a nice touch.

Amazing modern interpretation of Chinese cuisine. Flavours are beyond and everything is plated very elegantly.

The lunch is very good but a bit on the pricier end. Everything is good on the menu. They have dandan noodles but only 10 per day! Highly recommend if you need a Chinese food fix !

Brand new Chinese restaurant in Yoyogiuehara area after one of the oldest Sushi restaurants closed. “REI” was named after the master the young chef Takahashi apprenticed. They offer high quality food in style you may experience at top-notch Chinese restaurants in Tokyo but for less. They could become a good competitor with Jeeten, a very popular Chinese restaurant in the area.
