"Restaurant HEIMAT, Auerhahn Stuben, Bayern Stuben and Tiroler Stuben – the elegant hotel of the same name, which also has a spa, offers diners a variety of restaurant option, all of which are elegant and inviting. The terrace, in particular, with its panoramic mountain view is quite an event – it's a great place to soak up the idyllic surroundings! The cuisine is seasonal, with an emphasis on sustainability; the majority of the ingredients come from within an 80km radius. The menu also features classics such as Wiener schnitzel or chateaubriand for two." - Michelin Inspector

Hotel Gut Steinbach (Reit im Winkl, Bavaria) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Like many great independently run hotels, Gut Steinbach started as a passion project. In 2011, a German count purchased an aging hotel and its surrounding property, located on a high plateau in the Cheimgau region of the Bavarian Alps, and turned the place into a stylish mountain retreat. The scenic grounds are now a certified organic farm where deer, chicken, and goats roam, and around the natural pond is a collection of sleek alpine chalets built by local craftsmen. The main building has been reimagined, too: lined in native wood and enormous glass panels, it houses a restaurant and fireplace bar, plus most of the hotel’s rustic-chic rooms and suites, where a cozy hunting-inspired aesthetic prevails. After hiking or skiing nearby, a striking spa with mirrored ceilings, exposed stone walls, and modern daybeds surrounding a large indoor pool is especially inviting." - Tablet Hotels

My husband and I had an amazing trip to celebrate his birthday. From the moment we were collected from Munich airport by Benjamin we knew we would have a wonderful stay. He was extremely friendly & happy to share his experiences of the local area & gave us food recommendations for the restaurant. Next we met Harald, who welcomed us warmly & he was again incredibly helpful when planning our return to the airport. We arranged transfers via the hotel & had a private mini bus costing €300 so if we were to stay again we’d probably fly into Salzburg as this would make transfers quicker & cheaper. For our return, we got the minibus to a local train station then took a train into Munich which was fairly straightforward. |The food was exceptional & our waiters very attentive, especially Emily. We liked that there was a main menu of classics that was the same each night plus additional special menus so there was always something different to choose. We stayed on a half board package which included a buffet style breakfast then a 3 course evening meal. Drinks were reasonably priced & there was a good selection; my husband especially enjoyed trying local wines with dinner.||The spa was extremely relaxing & we both had incredible massages from Thomas. We were initially nervous of the sauna & steam room etiquette as it is custom to be naked but we soon realised that it is more awkward to be the only ones in swimwear so just embraced the nudity!||The spa, all hotel areas & grounds were very clean & we loved the styling & decorations. We stayed in a superior double room which seemed more like a suite! The bed & couch in our room were comfortable & the bathroom well equipped with gorgeous smelling toiletries. We had a large balcony with excellent views over the mountains.|We were lucky enough to visit when snow was on the ground which made everything seem so magical but we also think it would be a perfect setting in the summer too.||We took a walk into Reit im Winkl which was very quiet as we were told it was off peak so lots of shops were closed despite being a Saturday but it also felt incredibly peaceful. We hiked a short while into the mountains & were impressed by all the well signed hiking trails. We stopped off at another hotel for a coffee & hot chocolate which we enjoyed.||All staff were very friendly & helpful, even though our German is very poor compared to their English.|All in all it was an incredibly special experience, which surpassed our expectations & we wouldn’t hesitate in recommending a visit to friends & family. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so memorable.

The hotel itself is beautiful – the entire complex is very well maintained, and the bar area is stylish and inviting. The food was absolutely excellent, both in quality and variety. The only downside was at the check-out. Apart from one unpleasant experience, everything else was truly great. Overall, a wonderful hotel that I would definitely recommend

A wonderful area to relax, hike and enjoy the beautiful nature. The spa is highly recommended, the treatments are professional and the relaxation areas are unique. The food in the restaurant is excellent, and the breakfast is also pleasant. With a little more staff, it would be even more relaxed. Tip: give guests seeking peace and quiet a quiet spot in the breakfast room – it makes a big difference! If you rent a garage parking space, you should be instructed in advance on how to open and close the garage door :-) Overall, a highly recommended hotel. It would be even nicer with an outdoor pool ;-)

It is a very quiet and relaxing Relais, with beautiful rooms and very well-designed and furnished chalets. The restaurant is excellent, the Maître is very knowledgeable, and the Chef is very talented. The SPA is truly fantastic, with a very experienced and professional manager and massage therapists.|The only problem is the housekeepers, who work very little and very poorly. They clean very little and don't even notice when the soap has run out. They don't change all the towels, they don't wash all the glasses, and the outside is full of cobwebs and dust because they haven't cleaned the outside for weeks. This is the only negative point of this beautiful property.

A Gem in the Bavarian Alps From the moment you arrive at Gut Steinbach, you know you’ve discovered something special. Our stay was flawless—from convenient parking and a warm reception at check-in to an exceptional first dinner in the restaurant. This retreat brings together everything that defines true hospitality: authentic local architecture, breathtaking Alpine scenery, tasteful interior design, impeccable cleanliness, attentive service, and outstanding cuisine. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team at Gut Steinbach. We will definitely be back.

Gut Steinbach is a good choice if you want to relax, enjoy the region and great hospitality. The restaurant and the spa area are excellent, the rooms could need a modernization.
