"With his chic brasserie in the glass-paned extension at Schwarzenstein Castle, Nelson Müller has brought his gastronomical philosophy to the Rheingau. Diners can take in stunning views – especially delightful from the terrace – and savour freshly prepared classic Mediterranean cuisine with a hint of rustic simplicity. Options range from Breton turbot to veal currywurst. For overnight stays, there are wonderful individually styled guestrooms and suites available at the Burghotel, Burgresidenz and Gästehaus." - Michelin Inspector

Room was spacious, clean and up to date. We have a lower floor room, which gave us a view to the parking lot. It gave a feeling of staying in the garage, but as we did not stay in the room other than for sleep, I did not bother to change. |There was a corporate event going on while we were there, so the lobby was full of people with stands. Definitely not giving the quiet countryside atmosphere we were looking for! We extended the stay without knowing, and this type of information would have been useful while we were deciding!|Next time, we will go to hotel Kronenburg again.

Disappointing Experience for a Relais & Châteaux Property While the setting and concept hold promise, our stay fell short of expectations. Upon arrival, the front desk staff were indifferent and unwelcoming—offering no assistance with luggage, which is surprising for a property of this caliber. Our room was dusty and with a clogged shower that should have been addressed before our arrival. Small details like these matter, especially when a hotel presents itself as part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux network. Unfortunately, the lack of service and attention to basic comfort overshadowed what could have been a charming experience.

Hotel Burg Schwarzenstein offers a truly unique experience, combining modern comfort with the charm of a historic castle. The interior design is sleek and contemporary, creating a perfect balance between old and new.||||The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making the stay even more enjoyable. One of the absolute highlights is having breakfast in the beautifully restored castle, with breathtaking views over the vineyards — a moment to remember!||||The surrounding wine region offers fantastic walking opportunities, making it a great place to unwind and explore nature. This hotel is definitely worth another visit, especially in spring or late summer, when the vineyards are in full bloom.||||Highly recommended for a relaxing and memorable getaway!

Highly recommend. The moment we arrived for our two night stay, we were met by Cosima Gretzke, she made us feel very welcomed and explained everything to us. She also escorted us to our Castle room, which was very roomy and nicely decorated. Cosima is a great asset to the Burg Schwarzenstein organization. The breakfast was very good in a beautiful room overlooking the vineyard and the Rhyne river below. We enjoyed dinner one evening and the food and staff where excellent. We really enjoyed their Johannisberger Schwarzenstein "M" Riesling !

We spent two beautiful nights at the hotel . Our room|Was spacious and surrounded by fantastic trees . The welcome by the staff were civil but certainly not overly warm. I attribute that to the culture . We ate at both restaurants. Both were excellent but the level of cooking at Mueller was much higher . Michelin star level for sure with excellent service . My starter of burrata and tomatoes with a basil|Sorbet will not be forgotten . The only fault are the towels. Some of the thinnest I have ever experienced at this level of hotel but given everything else it was only a small irritation. Definitely worth staying at.

This is the third time we stay at this hotel. Every time a normal experience and thought I wanted to try the non-main house room. The price for the main house is about the same as the room I booked (<€20 difference). When we arrived it turned out that the castle (amazing) and the guest house (a frozen scene from the 70s) share the same booking profile on Expedia or something and we got the guest house. For €180 ish. WOW was the guesthouse bad. Everything is super old. The bed is unbearable and would easily break a 20 year old person’s back. We had no option because this is the only nice hotel open in Christmas time. While it should be about the same category of the room, the staff told us it would need to be considered an “upgrade”. So we had to pay €80 a night difference to move to the main building. Even though the room is listed as €207 online so really €27 of difference. The expectation of the room I booked was wildly different from the reality. So basically avoid the guesthouse at all costs.

Great hotel. Great restaurants. There is car traffic close to the hotel. Nonetheless, highly recommended.

I've not tended to think of Germany as a 'tourist' destination. This part of the Rhine, close to town's like Rudesheim are well worth a visit. This is a high end hotel that does everything right. Two excellent restaurants. Views across the Rhine Valley. Though be aware, in the summer it is a popular wedding venue. Not only do rooms cost more for Fri and Sat, there are a lot of people around. Not noisy or a problem, just to make you aware.

Yelp
Gorgeous vineyard and restaurant overlooking it. Setting is an old castle. Food is expensive thought nothing special. We came as a large group and ordered several appetisers that were good, and i had a steak for main. Nothing memorable for the food. I did hear the menu changes quite often. Come here for romance. The setting is worth it.
