"With its fairy-tale silhouette and its stone turret, Burg Schwarzenstein looks for all the world like a medieval castle. It was actually built in 1873 as a summer home for a German noble family and later transformed into a luxurious hotel with English-style gardens and sweeping views over the Rhine Valley. Seven rooms with period details — exposed stone, wooden beams, four-poster beds draped in silk canopies — are located in the main building and its castle tower, though most are housed in the modern Park Residence or the cottage-like Guest House a short stroll away. The rooms in the hotel are outstanding - large, lush and very comfortable. The staff is nice and accommodating. Enjoyed dinner one evening in the restaurant and it was superb. The wine selection was somewhat small and overpriced but included a good selection.

Beautiful location and a hotel with luxurious rooms. But the service, especially at the front desk but also at breakfast, is a million miles from the standard demanded by the price. ||When we visited, a wedding meant they couldn't serve us dinner. The tone of amazement that we should even ask, or that they might be able to advise on a good nearby restaurant instead, or help with suggestions for some wine tasting the next day in this famous wine growing region, was really really poor. ||The rudeness about being served at the bar a minute or two after six was beyond the pale.||Don't worry - we had a lovely time, finding an excellent local restaurant and lots of wine tasting. The hotel just wasn't part of the fun. It needs better management.

Room was spacious, clean and up to date. We have a lower floor room, which gave us a view to the parking lot. It gave a feeling of staying in the garage, but as we did not stay in the room other than for sleep, I did not bother to change. |There was a corporate event going on while we were there, so the lobby was full of people with stands. Definitely not giving the quiet countryside atmosphere we were looking for! We extended the stay without knowing, and this type of information would have been useful while we were deciding!|Next time, we will go to hotel Kronenburg again.

We spent two beautiful nights at the hotel . Our room|Was spacious and surrounded by fantastic trees . The welcome by the staff were civil but certainly not overly warm. I attribute that to the culture . We ate at both restaurants. Both were excellent but the level of cooking at Mueller was much higher . Michelin star level for sure with excellent service . My starter of burrata and tomatoes with a basil|Sorbet will not be forgotten . The only fault are the towels. Some of the thinnest I have ever experienced at this level of hotel but given everything else it was only a small irritation. Definitely worth staying at.

My family and I stayed 5 nights at this hotel. When we arrived it was around 6pm on a Tuesday evening and we had quite a bit of luggage with us . My husband asked if there was anyone to help us bring the luggage in and the lady at reception literally looked at him with a perplexed look on her face!! She basically said no and pointed at the luggage cart so we had to do it ourselves.|We also were not able to eat in the hotel restaurant because it was fully booked so we were told we can sit in the terrace but we need to first order room service and tell them to bring it outside . All very unorganized and not really at the level of Relais Chateau. Anyways the breakfast was unbelievably basic for what we were paying and the dinner at their Gourmet restaurant was also ok but again the prices were so high. The waiters in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner were, you felt overworked and very unorganized . They were lovely but I felt bad for them to be honest. What annoyed us the most is how loud their voices were when they spoke to you . Not sure why they had to shout so everyone can hear what you ordered !! Comical actually.|Overall the hotel is in a beautiful location and the rooms were very clean and spacious but if you are looking for service you will not get it.

The hotel is located in a very nice landscape which provides a great view. It incorporates part of the old castle in its architecture, which makes for an interesting aesthetic. The food was good, and there was nothing to complain about the service either. To my information it's rather expensive, however since I was there on a business trip payed by my employer, I cannot comment on that. All in all I enjoyed my stay.

I've not tended to think of Germany as a 'tourist' destination. This part of the Rhine, close to town's like Rudesheim are well worth a visit. This is a high end hotel that does everything right. Two excellent restaurants. Views across the Rhine Valley. Though be aware, in the summer it is a popular wedding venue. Not only do rooms cost more for Fri and Sat, there are a lot of people around. Not noisy or a problem, just to make you aware.

Gorgeous vineyard and restaurant overlooking it. Setting is an old castle. Food is expensive thought nothing special. We came as a large group and ordered several appetisers that were good, and i had a steak for main. Nothing memorable for the food. I did hear the menu changes quite often. Come here for romance. The setting is worth it.
