Highlights

Polished quarters on a venerable estate with a high-end restaurant, a chic spa & 2 outdoor pools. Overlooking vineyards and olive groves on a rural estate, this elegant hotel is 15 km from both Duomo di Siena, an imposing 13th-century cathedral, and Piazza del Campo, home of the legendary Palio di Siena horse race. Refined rooms come with minibars, flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi; some have country or garden views. Suites add living rooms with pull-out sofas, while a separate stone-built villa offers a private garden. The hotel features an upscale restaurant with exposed-brick hints, and a spa with an indoor pool and grape-based treatments. There are also 2 outdoor pools, along with an 18th-century garden, tennis courts and a fitness room.

"This 14th-century villa, on a hillside overlooking the city of Siena, has held tight to its many historical charms, even as it’s modernized in all the areas that count." - Mark Fedeli

Location is exceptional and personnel is helpful. This was a family meeting with all ages (from 2 to 85) involved so a challenging task for any Hotel. Given the many “hidden” gems more should be done by the personnel to explain/show around the resort amenities to allow a full experience of what’s on offer. Rooms are nice but do not provide the confort you can expect from a 5*L resorts (in our case noisy and inefficient ventilation and windows blinders that would not lock). This is more comparable to a 4* Country House. The morning breakfast was the highlight of the stay with an excellent full buffet with helpful and kind staff. The Restaurant turns into a very restrictive and rigid setting for the (compulsory) evening meal. We have been restricted to maximum 7 table seatings so we could not eat together, as we have been done in every other night at local restaurants/trattorias. We could not get the degustation menu as this option was restricted to when the full table ordered the same (which makes it impossible if you have a vegetarian guest at the table). Whilst the “rituals” the “rigidity” and the price matched what you would expect from a 2-3 star Michelin Restaurant the level of service (> 50 minutes waiting time) and food quality is nowhere close. |Borgo Scopeto nature is the one of a beautiful Country Side retreat and everything should be set to make you feel comfortable and easy going. The evening meal was to this end a disaster and useful only to understand why at booking is made compulsory; being the only eating options within a 10 km radius if turned into a nice experience would be the preferred choice of any guest.|Heads up to the guest manager. She should be promoted to run the place!

The property is beautiful. The staff is professional and attentive. The food is average. The menu needs revamping. |But this “5 Star” is managed like a 3 Star. |They absurdly charge for bed time small bottles of water in the room. They state it’s your option. Pay or no water. To receive towel for the pool you are required to go to Reception (about 500 ft. from the pool). Sign for the towels and when leaving the pool area you are required to return the towels to Reception under threat of being charged a fee for failure to return. The turndown service is basically non existent. In the 6 days at the hotel there were 2 turndown services. |We have travelled the world for over 50 years…..this is not worthy of 5 Stars. |Management ultimately responded to our critique with mindless and offensive excuses totally dismissive of the issues.

Borgo Scopeto is simply amazing, I cannot recommend it enough, it’s a wonderful, scenic and peaceful venue, so full of history and what can I say….everything was perfect from start to finish. When we saw the place - we immediately fell in love. We had no hesitation booking it even before our first visit! The reasons are many….we loved the location: stunning Tuscan countryside (the views from the pool, the garden), close to a number of airports for our guests travelling, great accommodation on site and in the locality and a very responsive service by email from Sofia and Serena answering all our questions. We visited finally in May before our Anniversary and we were welcomed so warmly and accomodating. The 25th Wessing Anniversary event was fantastic. We had a fabulous reception of aperitif in the wine tasting room because it was cold and gloomy that day. Our host Serena and Martina were amazing for the duration of our stay and that of our guests, nothing was a problem, they looked after every little detail. Most of the guests stayed on site and enjoyed the pool and evening bar (and evening dinner if pre-booked). Borgo Scopeto made our 25th Wedding Anniversary day and the days before and after so special, this place and the surroundings will always have a special place in our hearts – thank you Borgo Scopeto!

The place is very beautiful, quiet with great facilities. Yet, the service is not worth 5 stars: 1) There is no fresh water refill in the room (only one tiny can of still water upon arrival). The biggest bottle of water at the pool is 500ml and comes in a form of a can so not very portable. Bring the can to the tennis court and you smash it over in 5min. And its not like there is a supermarket around to buy a real bottle. 2) Service at the pool changed overnight without prior notice (from towels available at the pool to picking them up at the reception upon signature; from waiter taking orders at the sunbeds to only orders at the bar). 3) The gym lacks weights for female (lowest is 4kg. 4) One glass of wine costs almost the same as a full bottle from their winery. Net, a way to go for this hotel to keep their rating and price/night. Relying on beautiful location will be hard if the service doesn’t improve.

We had yet another great return holiday to Borgo Scopeto! The epitome of “understated luxury” - not over the top gaudy, but a really high-class experience at every turn. Not a large resort so we had plenty of privacy. Spacious rooms, comfy beds, high class and attentive service to our every need - dog friendly! Spa services were excellent, though we did not like having to pay extra to use the sauna and soaking pool. Restaurant menu was excellent, and service was great - especially Luca who helped us every night.

Could not more enthusiastically recommend this place for a wonderful stay! The service was fantastic. The food was tasteful and pleasant. We also had the opportunity to do an in-house cooking class, which was just sensational. Chef Mickey was a pleasure to work with and have be our teacher. The views are outstanding. The history of this entire location is wonderful and the wine is just superb.

Borgo Scopeto was the perfect venue for our three-day wedding celebration, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful or accommodating experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their attention to detail and eagerness to help were echoed by all of our guests, who were equally impressed by the exceptional service. The food was absolutely fantastic! The chefs not only delivered delicious, high-quality meals but also catered to every dietary requirement with ease, ensuring all our guests felt well taken care of. Each dish was expertly crafted, and the variety was a big hit among everyone. In the lead-up to the big day, the events team was incredibly responsive and organized. They were quick to address any questions we had and made the whole process feel seamless, relieving any pre-wedding stress. Their professionalism and dedication ensured that everything went off without a hitch. Overall, Borgo Scopeto exceeded our expectations, and we are so grateful to the entire team for making our wedding celebration so memorable. Highly recommend!

Starting with the positives, the hotel is extremely well maintained, beautiful and deserves 5* from the location and looks. ||That said, it’s not 5* stars when it comes to service, breakfast, pool service (towels need to be picked up at the reception against signature). There’s no free water in the room and water at the pool is sold in cans. Prices for the wine are a bit questionable (12€ per glass for wine that they sell for 15€ a bottle in the shop; a coke for 7€). Considering the price per night, it’s a bit stingy.
