The Best Natural Wine Vineyards in France's Loire Valley

"Among those new properties is the spectacular Relais de Chambord. Built for the king's hunting hounds in the 1700s, the original house didn't have the benefit of modern upgrades, such as the rain showers, velvet-swathed headboards, or luxurious white linen sheets seen in today's guest rooms." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Relais de Chambord (Chambord, Pays de la Loire) 5 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Some French chateaux are scarcely more than large and impressive houses, but the Château de Chambord, in the Loire Valley, is a proper castle; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast took its inspiration from Chambord, but had to tone it down a bit, as the real thing is too enormously opulent even for fantasy. And the Relais de Chambord could hardly boast of a more privileged position — it’s not just set on the estate, it’s straight across the lawn from the castle itself, and thus surrounded by endless parklands full of wildlife." - Tablet Hotels

We were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. Whilst the setting was undoubtedly stunning this was the only thing that we really liked about this hotel. The reception staff were very welcoming but after that the experience was sadly went down hill. Our room was by far the most expensive but easily the smallest that we had during our entire holiday in the Loire valley. The mirrors were dusty and needed a clean. In the morning we were woken by people setting up their market stalls right outside the window. The terrace bar and restaurant overlooked the chateau, which was absolutely beautiful, but sadly the service and food were extremely disappointing. The menu described a 'perfectly cooked egg ' but turns out it was actually raw, my steak was tough and inedible, no-one asked us if the meal was OK and despite having clearly not eaten it we were billed for it. We were so hungry after what should have been a lovely celebratory meal, we ordered a bowl of chips at the bar later that evening! Breakfast was equally disappointing, there were hardly any staff, very long waits for coffee half the plates on the buffet were empty and the bread was hard. A man was also using a noisy electronic sanding machine very near to our outdoor table throughout our breakfast! I would recommend visiting for a drink to enjoy the setting but we definitely would not stay here again.

Awesome location with the best view on this magnificent castle. Cannot get enough of this view which become private after visit hours. Great service with valet and private parking. Enjoyable spa to relax after a day of visit. Great restaurant, delicious food with a good wine menu.

Very nice 4 star hotel with direct walking access to the grounds of the Chateau. Renovated in, I believe 2019. All the expected accoutrements plus controllable a/c...however we stayed in September and a little heat was needed but too early in the season for it. The a/c unit is cooling only. A Dyson electric heater was provided that worked fine. Any brekkie with smoked salmon gets my vote. Close to the hotel is a floating barge room that looked quite unique for the adventurous. Room 200 with view of the Chateau with a tall ceiling and the bed is featured in adverts.

We stayed at the Relais de Chambord for 2 nights of our 30 day road trip in Southern France. The service was outstanding and the breakfast was the best we experienced on our trip and we stayed in many luxury properties. Having the Castle so close was wonderful as we took our tour early before the tour buses and enjoyed 4 hours learning the history. Our room was on the top floor with a beautiful bath with shower and very comfortable. The valet parking was fast and very convienient.

The room 102 was extremely small. Separate shower from the toilet. For the price of 400 eur per night I would have expected at least the air conditioning would have worked but it didn’t and they couldn’t / wouldn’t fix it. Gladly in May the nights were still cold so keeping the windows open was the only option. Location is good for the castle but there is not much else in the area.

Our family spent a superb stay at the Hotel Le Chambord. Spectacular location next to the historic castle and huge gardens of the national domain. We also enjoyed the restaurant and breakfast provided with high quality, tasteful, local products.

We enjoyed our stay in the Realis de Chambord. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nice, even if we did not have views of the castle but of the river. Dinner at the restaurant was nice, good quality ingredients and good service. Excellent breakfast. Very good spa experience. Of course the best thing is the location, so close to the castle.

1. Receptionist on our arrival was very helpful. Thanks a lot for her efforts!||2. Restaurant kitchen is not up to the task. Its really difficult to spoil beef fillet but they succeeded. First piece was burnt, chewy and medium well instead of medium rare. Second piece was good by itself but once again rare instead of medium rare.||Sauce was quite harsh (didn't eat it). Truffle didn't have any expressed taste and could be omitted, especially concerning harsh sauce.||Dauphine potatoes were outstanding. Mont blanc, chestnuts and blackcurrants dessert is good, maybe a bit too sweet. Wine is ok.||Overall, I'd like to taste more of the rural simple french cuisine with the lean to high quality local products since it is really a tourist place. I can try grilled octopus literally everywere. But maybe its just me. Overall, I can't recommend the restaurant to anyone. ||3. Maybe it is not wise to try to charge more for the extra night from the quest who is already in the hotel, who booked the room by your own site and presumable know the prices stated on the site. Maybe it is coincidence but I wasn't convinced. Not very pleasant.||Overall we liked the stay, the room with the lake view a lot but the restaurant food was something...

Yelp
This claims to be a four/five star hotel, but it's really not. The grounds are beautiful but the rooms are really plain. The on-site restaurant isn't very good--overpriced, mediocre food and not the kind of service you'd expect for the price and setting. The hotel double-charged me for a reservation and I had to escalate it to a director to get help reversing the charge. Overall, it feels like a budget hotel that happens to be in a beautiful setting. I would definitely recommend visiting the park (renting bikes or a boat) but staying somewhere else.
