"The Coussau family are champions of classicism. Chef, Jean, and his niece, Clémentine, conjure up heart-warming food that pays tribute to the splendid produce of les Landes: foie gras, poultry, Chalosse beef, salmon from the Adour River and fish from Capbreton. A closeknit network of local suppliers enable them to rustle up signature dishes that the regulars come here in droves to sample: scrambled eggs with black truffles, warm duck foie gras with raisins and sole with cèpes. In autumn, you may sample roast woodpigeon or hare à la royale, without forgetting a superbly airy and creamy Grand Marnier soufflé, filled with a refreshing sorbet of bloody orange. Fine French dining at its best in a knockout location between the Atlantic Ocean and pine forests." - Michelin Inspector

The food is perfect. No question about it. But what makes the culinary experience so special is the family which runs this wonderful restaurant. You cam feel the pride and passion everywhere, the respect of the staff in the kitchen and the dining room as well. From the other hand, Chef Jean Coussau and his brother are very friendly, with good sense of humor and informal personal contact. The dishes are based on the traditional French cuisine, but with modern touches.

We began our recommended wine trip in this lovely hotel. We found the hotel easily and felt very welcome by the staff. Our room was fresh and airy with a small balcony. Te garden outside was a nice stroll with pool etc if you wanted. The hotel also has a first class restaurant which has received two star in the Michelin guide. The grounds also had a vey small domaine where their own wine was grown.

We stopped here for only one night on our way home from Spain, and wished we could have stayed longer to really enjoy the full experience. The hotel is in a small and picturesque village easily accessible from the motorway. It's setting, gardens and décor are all quite lovely. On arrival, the receptionist was warm and friendly and we were given an upgraded Deluxe room, which was a welcomed bonus, especially as we had booked a promotional rate (we were out of season and on a Sunday night). Our room was large, clean and comfortable, with a big well equipped bathroom. The bed had lovely linens and was super king size. Because it was just a quick stop we did not enjoy the pool, sauna and spa, but it looked welcoming. We also did not eat in the restaurant, but chose to have a simpler meal in the adjoining Bistro. If you were paying the full rate, it would be expensive unless you could enjoy all the amenities on offer. For us, it was a short but lovely experience, and we would not hesitate to return.

We recently spent two nights at this lovely hotel in Magesc. The property is beautiful and all of the staff friendly and accommodating. There is a nice sized pool with plenty of chaises longues and towels. The water was refreshing and the pool was not crowded. We booked two rooms: two people in each room. The rooms were a nice size, comfortable and the bathrooms quite ample. My husband and son had a great dinner at the auberge and my son raved about the rabbit. I specifically chose this hotel bc we wanted to see more of this beautiful part of France. Would happily return.

Amazing Staff, they helped me ship My wedding clothes back home, and we’re super accommodating with check out. Air conditioned rooms were perfect for the heat in Rome. Nice clean bathroom, good amount of space! Also forgot my rings and my friend was able to pick them up for me. So trustworthy and reliable. Thank you!

Having stayed here over many years we had high hopes of a super evening meal. We booked the gastronomic package, with some trepidation as we were on the final leg of a long touring holiday, we should not have worried. Every part of our stay was outstanding. Coffee in the sun on the terrace as we arrived, a delightful room, with every facility, overlooking the garden and the pool, a dinner which will stay in our memories for years to come and a super breakfast. The hotel staff and family Cousteau could not have been more welcoming. The service was both friendly and efficient. The package was not cheap, but represents exceptional value for money. Visiting the Relais is not to be missed. We shall return.

This a most interesting Hotel run with attention to detail in every element of making the guests feel welcome and appreciated. A rare thing in this fast paced world.||||When we arrived we could not believe the welcome and service we received. Once checked in the receptionist refused to allow us to carry our bags to the room and did so for us, even carting them up a flight of stairs on her own, and may I say that one bag was big and Heavy.||The property on 7 acres is really different encompassing the hotel set in a green and shady garden with really nice pool area an Orchard, Pine Plantation, Winery, Vineyard, and works of art all over the property,||There is also a full blown spa treatment facility plus a whole lot more.|| It is clearly the passion of the owner A Michelin star chef JEAN COUSSAU the man behind this whole facility whose restaurant is one of 2 restaurants in the grounds. We ate in the smaller Bistro as his main Restaurant is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. || We were amazed at the quality and presentation of the meal, The Head Chef is just 24 year old.||We dined in the Bistro to be served the most exquisite food presented as only the best chefs can backed up by the waiting staff.||We did not expect such wonderful presentation and were pleasantly surprised|| Every element of their service was superb and a tribute to the man who has built this property.. |||| (Google him.)||||The rooms are spotless quiet comfortable and spacious.||After an amazing nights sleep in these most tranquil surroundings we had a leisurely start to our day checking out around midday. We were about to carry our bags down but were spotted by the owner Chef Jean Coussau. He said no no no and then came to our room to say call reception to come get our remaining luggage. Once checked out he and one of his staff took the luggage to the car and loaded it too.||||If you are anywhere near this place go there, spend at least 2 or 3 nights and soak up this incredible and rare service, food and ambience. We will never forget it and despite our home being in Australia and so far away, we will be back and for much more than a one night transit stop.

Sensational dinner. Each dish was superb. Our bedroom was very elegant and comfortable. Good parking and pretty garden. Altogether a wonderful experience and if we were driving near there again would definitely book in
