This place was so serene and quiet this time of year (late December). The staff was attentive and accommodating and the food... so good! Worth staying here for couples. I would say it's romantic. But, we also saw a couple of young families. You will be spoiled if you stay here. We will never get a better breakfast spread anywhere. They set the bar high!

From the moment we walked into this beautiful resort, we felt like we were home. The grounds were well manicured and gorgeous. The rooms of which are all different are lovely. David and Sophia as well as the entire staff are extremely professional and beyond accommodating. To know them is to love them. Not to be missed are beautiful paintings throughout the resort which are all created by an on staff painter. The location of the property was perfect for day tripping. We look forward to “returning home” on our next return to Tuscany.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon. David and his staff went above and beyond to welcome us and make us feel at home. The grounds and rooms were beautiful and well cared for. The food and wine were outstanding!! Our whole experience left us wanted to stay longer. If you have the chance you must stay here!

We attended a wedding in Cortona, and although we have been to Italy many times, it was our first time in Tuscany. From the moment we entered the discreet drive and met the staff, we were at home. The setting, fragrant rosemary, olive trees and quiet elegance of the stonework and furnishings, it was as if we passed through the clouds to someplace called perfection. I loved the antique phone to call the front desk and ask for anything, they will accommodate. Its about the people. David was the most charming host, everyone was genuine and if I could move there tomorrow as a guest who never leaves, I would. Alas! Our lives do not permit, but when I return to Tuscany, the only place I will stay is Relais La Corte Dei Papi. If the Gods are willing to bless me twice, thrice and so on....

Our son and daughter in love hosted their wedding there on October 4, 2025. Absolutely stellar service. He rented out the whole venue for 4 days and the food, atmosphere, the staff was incredible. Very attentive, always willing to help and the Owner, David, was right there as well. The welcome dinner, the cocktail hour, the reception, the brunch the day after....spectacular. Everything was incredible! Thank you all.

Amazing experience! An absolutely magical stay at La Corte dei Papi near Cortona. The property is stunning — surrounded by peaceful gardens lovingly cared for by the owner’s mother. David, the owner, is an exceptional host: warm, attentive, and full of local charm. Every detail reflects authentic Tuscan hospitality. My husband and I attended a wedding in Cortona and stayed at La Corte dei Papi in late August for a week. It was SPLENDID. The setting, our room and the view, lovely pool and grounds, delicious breakfast and absolutely the most polite and accommodating staff. Room service was so efficient and nice. I needed a hairdresser and they recommended a superb local person who came to my room and was an artist. David was particularly attentive. If I could live there, I'd move in tomorrow. It will be our only choice to stay when we visit Tuscany again.

When we first arrived it didn’t look or feel as nice as the photos . We booked an entry level room as we were staying for 7 nights and it add up. We could not stay in the tiny space for a whole week. We were going to leave and stay at a friends Villa . But David the owner and manager was kind to offer us a much larger room at only €100 more a night . The larger rooms are GORGEOUS newly renovated , roomy. Huge Steam shower and massive two person jet tub. David and his staff along with his Mamma make this hotel very special . It was thur family home and farm year ago. David renovated and turned it into a lovely hotel. There are still some things to iron out . But David the owner really cares and works from Dawn into the night making sure the guest are happy and improving the hotel. We loved our stay and will return.

Best meal we had in Tuscany by far! Not only is the food delicious but so is the wine. Be ready for 5 courses that will increasingly blow your mind. If you're looking for a little spot off the beaten path in Tuscany, this is your spot. David is amazing! He has created a work of art with his hotel/restaurant/spa.

We went to dinner at La Corte dei Papi. Each dish was exquisitely executed and the service was impeccable. The taste of each was delicious. The have their own white and red wine, we had the White with our dinner and when cheeses arrived we had a glass of their red wine. A total positive experience. As a treat to the two of us, the owner David Papi was present, it simply made the entire experience a joy. Many photos to share but Yelp is having problems uploading the images.

The room, the service, the attention to every detail, the restaurant and the property. I can say nothing but assolutamente fantastico! David was a dream to work with and the rest of the staff is quick to follow his lead. There is no question that the moment you step onto the property you feel like you have been invited into this family home. The environment is so professional and a step above what we expected. The restaurant will make you want to use your manners, but the food made me want to lick the plate! David, what an amazing place you have created to share with us and we thank you and your family. Your mother has to share how she keeps the roses so perfect!

I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could. The best meal we had in Italy by far! The food was amazing and the service and attention to detail amplified the experience that much more. The rose champagne was also so good we had a case of it shipped back home. We didn't stay at the hotel, but we sat by the pool for lunch and it looked so relaxing.

I can't say enough great things about this incredible place. The owner, David, has transformed his home, that has been in his family for generations, into this amazing relais and restaurant just outside of Cortona. If you're going to stay in this part of Tuscany, this should be number 1 on your list. David treated us like family, and provided us with the highest quality of care and service. The food at the restaurant is incredible, as is the wine list, and the overall atmosphere. We can't wait to go back! As for the accommodations when staying here, our room was beyond our expectations, complete with a massive jacuzzi style bath AND a sauna/shower. The maids came by multiple times per day to ensure that everything was perfect. David also went out of his way before we arrived to help us coordinate day trips during our stay in Tuscany, all of which went very smoothly. Again, I would highly recommend this place to anyone, whether your looking for a great place for dinner, or the perfect place to stay for your vacation in Tuscany.

Dreamy, delicious, perfection. This charming set up is impeccable. Our host, David, has such attention to detail. The grounds are beautiful and I am imagine in warmer weather, the place to be. Our cottage was lovingly restored. Beautiful hand painted designs, vintage furnishings, lovely bedding and pillows, fabulous bath tub with spa treats. The restaurant is fantastic. The service was flawless, the food incredible. The night we stayed it was a full house and the evening ran smoothly and so cozy. Breakfast the next morning was a generous set-up of delights. My husband and I can't wait to return next year. Thank you David and staff for a memorable time.

My daughter and I shared a wonderful escape to Tuscany last month. Not only did we leave husbands at home, we left our stresses on the doorstep at La Corte dei Papi. The next four days were spent savoring every moment in relaxation and enjoyment. Even though we longed to explore the Tuscany hillsides, David's little piece of heaven gave us no reason to leave. Our dinner last night was the best we had during our 14 night stay in Italy. David, the owner, ensured that our service was outstanding from start to finish. The food from pasta to beef to the fish was excellent. The atmosphere is perfect, we were able to sit outside and enjoy a quite, beautiful evening. I would without hesitation recommend this hotel and restaurant to everyone we know.
