RELAIS THALASSO Île de Ré

The hotel is in a beautiful quiet location surround by vineyards on one side and sea sand dunes and oyster beds on the other. Laid back with no buildings or road between the hotel and sea. Lovely walk of about 45 mins to a delightful quiet mostly sandy beach. Great view from 1st floor rooms.|It was very very hot for the 8 days of our stay. The hotel in general and room was very clean. |Unfortunately the air conditioner was set centrally at 26c on the first night so very little sleep, the manager did get it fixed for the next night, so we had control for the rest of our stay and it was then very efficient and surprisingly quiet.|Toiletries were sparse: shower gel, shampoo and toilet roll. |No such thing as a double bed, two singles pushed together. Mind the gap as not even a topper available.|Dinner on the set menu was not up to standard, no attention given to presentation either, very expensive canteen food! However there are many great restaurants in St Martin de Re (15 min drive) so we ate out there for the rest of our stay.|Buffet breakfast was ok but the same everyday and no opportunity to have eggs cooked for you ie omelette poached eggs. Just scrambled and cook your own boiled.|The restaurant and bar staff were friendly and attentive. Reception staff, bar one with an attitude, were also very pleasant. |All in all location is perfect but expect more of a 3 plus not 4 star experience.

Simply the worst experience. I have been fortunate to have visited some amazing countries and stayed in some lovely hotels. My family and I are were looking forward to our road trip around France, especially a visit to Ile de Re. ||+ Postives:|-The island is welcoming.|-Great sites and nice beaches - though the weather during our stay wasn't great.|-Some amazing restaurants - lots of choice but you should always book in advance.||-Negatives:|-The hotel was badly run. We were charged £1300 for a 2 night room only stay in error! booked through booking.com. When I flagged this to booking.com, I was told that I would be refunded within 15 days...but I'm still waiting|-I booked a treatment and after waiting an hour was told that no one had noticed me waiting and that the spa was now closed. My 20 min treatment at a cost of £75 was apparently not worth the spa area noticing me, asking what treatment though when I arrived there were only 2 people (including me) in reception!||Ile de Re is lovely and I would definitely recommend a visit, but just not staying at this hotel. I understand that is family owned and run, which is great. But the administration is very poor and the cost incredibly high. On this occasion you just don't receive the service you think you are paying for.

We spent two nights at Hotel Atalante-Relais Thalasso as part of a Voyage Prive deal.||||Our deal included a Comfort Room On The Vineyard Side with breakfast.||||We stayed in room 318 which had a small balcony overlooking the vineyard. There was also a partial sea view as well. The hotel has a Greek/Mediterranean feel to it. Great base to explore the rest of the island.||||For the football fans amongst you the hotel was used as a base in Euro 2016 and when we were there the Angers SCO squad was based there for some of their pre-season. Did not see or hear them at all in fairness until we spotted them walking to their coach for a match.||||The room looked like it had recently been refurbished so was very smart. Air con, great shower, TV, tea/coffee facilities, safe, Wi-Fi etc. Even a choice of pillows depending on how you sleep!||||Breakfast is a buffet with loads of choice. Not much seating outside and pretty much all of it is in full sun.||||The pool area was very modern, not a huge amount of shade but nice nonetheless. It opens at 0900 which makes a pre-breakfast swim a little tricky however with pre-agreement they will open it a little earlier which was appreciated.||||Half a day bike hire (4 hours) was included with our booking. We attempted a tandem, decided it was too dangerous and instead opted for a bike each. The island is so bike friendly. Loads of different cycle routes and really safe. The bikes are excellent as well, touring style, gears, very comfortable. Due to the heat we only did an hour or so but you can probably get from one end of the island to the other in about 2 hours I reckon.||||Special mention to staff members Assis and Sylvie who could not do enough for us.

Magical setting in Île de Re - spectacular scenery and easy access to beach, walks, and bikes. The services of the hotel are promising but the delivery very choppy. This includes the restaurants and spa..Hopefully this will improve with training and more emphasis on a culture of hospitality.

Small Hotel right on the sea with access to a deserted beach. Plenty of oysters to collect on low tide. Rooms facing seaside are small but with nice little terrasse. If you want sea view, you’ll need to book a room on the upper floor. Most of them don’t have a balcony though. Bed quality is ok, bathrooms are made with low quality materials. If you happen to have noisy neighbours, you won’t enjoy your stay as you can hear everything. Breakfast takes place either outside or in a nice, aery room. For 26 Euro, choice is ok but quality is industrial and not up to price level. |Bike rental: 13 Euro for half a day. Overall: good choice for an easy, low key stay but prices clearly too high.

It is not a four stat hotel, more a three plus. Rooms on sea side are small with minimal storage.. Bathroom also very small with no shelves and hooks. The Thelassotherapy facilities are 0.5 km from the hotel. A tunnel connects the two.||||Most of the staff are excellent.||||Breakfasts are good with plenty of choices, just no smoked salmon or oysters.||||The demi-pension dinners are appallingly poor, 35€ for two courses of very poor food, very little choice - two of each; the alternative is to pay supplements for everything on the a la carte menu.||||We are now at a 4 star hotel furher up the coast which is on a different planet for faciities and food.||||Would we stay at the Atalante again? Not a chance!

Brilliant hotel, lovely location. Staff very helpful and friendly. Nice views of the sea and the pool and spa were very nice. Would have liked larger towels for the spa and they didn’t cover the sun loungers

Overall, a great experience : the hotel is clean, the interior design is simple and pleasant, the breakfast is made of high quality products, the spa is quite good filled with sea water and very much relaxing. The exterior swimming pool is small and there is no see view. Dinner took a very long time to be prepared.
