"The gourmet restaurant at the Villa d'Amelia hotel is run by young, talented chef Dennis Cesco, who creates technical, imaginative dishes with a focus on ingredients from the local Upper Langa region, as well as elsewhere in Piedmont and from nearby Liguria. His dishes feature just a few ingredients exploding with flavour, as well as a few interesting vegetarian options, all showcased on the chef’s tasting menu. The wine list is excellent, especially in its choice of Barolo and Barbaresco labels." - Michelin Inspector

Villa d'Amelia (Benevello, Piedmont) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"This corner of Piedmont, the Langhe, is known for its spectacular Alpine views and for its extraordinary cuisine, both of which are very much on display at the Villa d’Amelia. It’s a lovingly restored 19th-century farmhouse, set on a ridge with a commanding view of its surroundings, as well as a swimming pool, a courtyard and gardens, and an open-air wellness area. The rooms and suites retain some antique architecture, complemented with contemporary design, while the restaurant, also called Villa d’Amelia, applies an experimental modern mindset to the classic ingredients and flavors of Piedmontese cuisine." - Tablet Hotels

For our first visit to Piedmont and Barolo, this was a perfect property for us. Surrounded by vineyards, with close proximity to amazing wineries, we enjoyed absolutely wonderful service from Sarah and others on the team. ||When we arrived and explain that our departure would be very early in the morning, the front desk offered to have a breakfast prepared for us as we embarked on the next leg of our journey. When we left later in the week, they remembered and had a bag waiting for with a direct terrific breakfast for our drive to Turin. ||We were able to easily walk the beautiful grounds, tour the vines, enjoy terrific wine and snacks in the courtyard, and experience the tremendous views of the region.||The property offers a terrific spa area, including a sauna and hot tub as well as massages. We enjoyed all of the above.

in general nice - the first room we got had an old bed - significant deepening in the middle of the beds, but we could change after the first night. Some public rooms e.g toiletts and coridors are massively overheated, and in both rooms we could only turn on the shower with also letting the water out on the second tap - for me a sign of missing environmental awareness. The pool area is nice.

Despite the many positive reviews, I found Relais Villa d’Amelia to be quite outdated, and the service didn’t meet the standard expected from a luxury property. The check-in was smooth and pleasant, and the hotel entrance, beautifully set among vineyards, looked very promising. The wellness area appeared inviting, but in reality, the hotel needs a proper uplift. The mattress was extremely firm, the electrical sockets outdated, and the shower space very small. The sauna wasn’t functioning in the morning, which was disappointing. Bar service was below expectations — in Italy, it’s typical to receive snacks with your drinks, but none were served, even though they were clearly available behind the bar. Breakfast was à la carte, but no freshly baked breads, and coffee was surprisingly poor for Italy. Overall, while the setting is beautiful, the hotel lacks the refinement and attention to detail that should come with its rating. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Had THE most amazing time with my wife in November. Staff is amazing. Food is out of this world. Rooms are romantic and cozy. The surroundings are idyllic. I highly recommend the truffle hunt organized by the hotel. Such a great authentic experience. Highly recommend.

The setting is lovely, the courtyard is lovely, but something is missing from this place that makes it feel a little impersonal and lacking attention to detail. A small example, strolling the grounds, we noticed that the garden beds weren’t neatly trimmed and were in some places a bit weed choked, like an industrial size mower had come through but nothing more precise than that. The lobby furnishings photograph well but in person have that mid tier hotel feel. The staff is personable and helpful, I especially remember the gentleman bartender, but overall I was not impressed with this property and would not recommend this hotel.

I would not do it. It’s a good location, but the breakfast is absolutely terrible. Can’t eat it. Also the rooms are outdated, airco is making ticking noises. Just skip it for the price and go somewhere else.

My wife and I had an amazing time at Relais Villa d'Amelia for my birthday! Since we're both obsessed with wine and truffles, Piemonte was the perfect place to celebrate. The hotel staff were super welcoming, and they even left a bottle of bubbly in our room as a birthday surprise. The hotel itself has a really cozy vibe. There's a piano and a fireplace in the living room, which is perfect for a chilly night with a glass of wine. Our bedroom was spacious and stylish, with a minimalist design. Breakfast was delicious too – a small but perfectly curated selection of high-quality dishes. Definitely I will be back the next time in Piemonte

The hotel overall is not bad but the value is not there. The showers are ridiculous they do not have the proper toiletries and the front desk staff needs serious customer service training. The bar and restaurant staff are friendly and fantastic. Whatever you do, don’t have your laundry done. They will lose it and it smells horrible. The hotel needs to be tended to. I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone.
