"The gourmet restaurant at the Villa d'Amelia hotel is run by young, talented chef Dennis Cesco, who creates technical, imaginative dishes with a focus on ingredients from the local Upper Langa region, as well as elsewhere in Piedmont and from nearby Liguria. His dishes feature just a few ingredients exploding with flavour, as well as a few interesting vegetarian options, all showcased on the chef’s tasting menu. The wine list is excellent, especially in its choice of Barolo and Barbaresco labels." - Michelin Inspector

Despite the many positive reviews, I found Relais Villa d’Amelia to be quite outdated, and the service didn’t meet the standard expected from a luxury property. The check-in was smooth and pleasant, and the hotel entrance, beautifully set among vineyards, looked very promising. The wellness area appeared inviting, but in reality, the hotel needs a proper uplift. The mattress was extremely firm, the electrical sockets outdated, and the shower space very small. The sauna wasn’t functioning in the morning, which was disappointing. Bar service was below expectations — in Italy, it’s typical to receive snacks with your drinks, but none were served, even though they were clearly available behind the bar. Breakfast was à la carte, but no freshly baked breads, and coffee was surprisingly poor for Italy. Overall, while the setting is beautiful, the hotel lacks the refinement and attention to detail that should come with its rating. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Had THE most amazing time with my wife in November. Staff is amazing. Food is out of this world. Rooms are romantic and cozy. The surroundings are idyllic. I highly recommend the truffle hunt organized by the hotel. Such a great authentic experience. Highly recommend.

The setting is lovely, the courtyard is lovely, but something is missing from this place that makes it feel a little impersonal and lacking attention to detail. A small example, strolling the grounds, we noticed that the garden beds weren’t neatly trimmed and were in some places a bit weed choked, like an industrial size mower had come through but nothing more precise than that. The lobby furnishings photograph well but in person have that mid tier hotel feel. The staff is personable and helpful, I especially remember the gentleman bartender, but overall I was not impressed with this property and would not recommend this hotel.

I would not do it. It’s a good location, but the breakfast is absolutely terrible. Can’t eat it. Also the rooms are outdated, airco is making ticking noises. Just skip it for the price and go somewhere else.

My wife and I had an amazing time at Relais Villa d'Amelia for my birthday! Since we're both obsessed with wine and truffles, Piemonte was the perfect place to celebrate. The hotel staff were super welcoming, and they even left a bottle of bubbly in our room as a birthday surprise. The hotel itself has a really cozy vibe. There's a piano and a fireplace in the living room, which is perfect for a chilly night with a glass of wine. Our bedroom was spacious and stylish, with a minimalist design. Breakfast was delicious too – a small but perfectly curated selection of high-quality dishes. Definitely I will be back the next time in Piemonte

The hotel overall is not bad but the value is not there. The showers are ridiculous they do not have the proper toiletries and the front desk staff needs serious customer service training. The bar and restaurant staff are friendly and fantastic. Whatever you do, don’t have your laundry done. They will lose it and it smells horrible. The hotel needs to be tended to. I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

This is truly a 5 star property. First class service with beautiful rooms…some have views of the Alps. Heated pool, luxurious spa and hot tub for relaxation times. Gourmet restaurant a bit pricy but worth it but included in the room price is a complimentary breakfast. Amazingly helpful staff who are well trained in the art of hospitality. From beginning to end, it’s a wonderful property.||Now the only downside I could think of is that it is 20-25 minutes outside of Alba. Without a car, it would cost about €60 one way into the city. No taxis are available to and from the property.||But, don’t let that stop you from enjoying this slice of Italian heaven on earth.

Incredible two nights spent at this perfectly located boutique hotel. The grounds are breathtaking and well-maintained - a slice of heaven. I could sit out by the pool overlooking the rolling hills and vineyards of Piedmont and never tire. A truly relaxing and luxurious escape. The staff are welcoming and friendly. We had a crack-of-dawn start on the day of our departure, and the kitchen had kindly put together a very generous packed breakfast for us to take on the go, and offered us hot coffee before we left. This was such a special touch and we were incredibly grateful. The bistro restaurant offers fantastic dishes for breakfast and dinner, with an exhaustive wine list offering the best local wines. Do reserve a table on the outdoor terrace for beautiful subset views. The room was spacious and modern with a large comfortable bed and with plenty of wardrobe and storage space. My only complaint is that I wish I stayed longer! We will certainly visit again.
