Despite the many positive reviews, I found Relais Villa d’Amelia to be quite outdated, and the service didn’t meet the standard expected from a luxury property.
The check-in was smooth and pleasant, and the hotel entrance, beautifully set among vineyards, looked very promising. The wellness area appeared inviting, but in reality, the hotel needs a proper uplift.
The mattress was extremely firm, the electrical sockets outdated, and the shower space very small. The sauna wasn’t functioning in the morning, which was disappointing.
Bar service was below expectations — in Italy, it’s typical to receive snacks with your drinks, but none were served, even though they were clearly available behind the bar.
Breakfast was à la carte, but no freshly baked breads, and coffee was surprisingly poor for Italy.
Overall, while the setting is beautiful, the hotel lacks the refinement and attention to detail that should come with its rating. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
