How to Maximize Your Hotel Points When Booking a Suite

"In September, the Renaissance Austin Hotel has rooms starting at $261 per night, or 30,000 points. But you could also opt for an Executive Suite for $302 or 49,000 points, a Luxury Suite for 51,000 points or $306, or a Signature Suite, also for $306 or 51,000 points."

My stay at the Renaissance Hotel was fantastic from the moment we arrived. Kota helped bring all our bags up to our room and down again when we checked out—he was incredibly helpful, polite, and made the experience feel seamless. The hotel itself was clean, modern, and had a welcoming atmosphere. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed to relax. The staff throughout the property were friendly and professional. We also enjoyed the food and amenities on-site. Overall, it was a smooth and pleasant stay, and I’d definitely come back—especially with service like Kota’s!

This was a great stopover for our group of 5! The pool was great and room was perfect for a family of 5 (thanks separate room and pullout couch!). The BEST part was the bartender at the restaurant named Kelly. I haven’t run into such a kind patient human being in a while. She was so nice and sweet to us and our 3 kids and gave us lots of special attention. I encourage locals to go spend time with her. She will definitely make your day a little better. Give her a raise!

Google
What an incredible stay at this Renaissance for our first trip to Austin! We chose this hotel after speaking with Beyza over the phone weeks before our arrival as she was exceptionally professional, warm, and kind. Her outstanding service truly set the tone for our visit. We absolutely fell in love with the hotel! The lobby was beautiful and we couldn’t resist taking lots of photos around the hotel. Our room was spotless, the bed was super comfortable, and I especially loved the signature scent throughout the hotel. I also appreciated the recognition of my elite status especially with access to the R-Club. The location is perfect with so many great restaurants nearby and easy access to the Domain. We’re already looking forward to our next stay and highly recommend this Renaissance to anyone planning a trip to Austin. Thank you for the world-class hospitality!

Google
Great location near many restaurants and shopping. However, this hotel did not have any drawers just open areas where drawers should be. A multiple day stay can be challenging with no where to place your worn item discreetly. Interesting decision. Also the electricity went out on my floor one evening.

Beautiful hotel, you feel as though you’re staying out in the country, when actually there are lots of places in walking distance to shop or eat.|Indoor and outdoor pools. Awesome staff. Lots of places inside and outside to relax.|Restaurant and coffee shop onsite. Rooms are comfortable and quiet.|Self parking is $20.00 per night.

Google
A GORGEOUS hotel with some serious potential is the best way I would describe this hotel! ||Ok let’s get the negative out of the way. The only reason I cannot in my heart of hearts give this property a glowing review yet (keyword) is because I think the front office needs a little bit of work. Particularly management…..even more particularly Jennifer and China. There were some initial concerns/issues that almost caused this stay to not happen in its entirety!! That said….||The Renaissance Austin Hotel is capital “L” legit!! Whether it’s luxury, amenities or location, this hotel has it all! The purpose of this trip was to attend a wedding with family. This hotel was the perfect place!! The only thing I cannot rate on this trip is the food as we did use their facilities. Does not mean we won’t if we ever stay there in the future nor does it mean we don’t recommend even food at the hotel. In fact, from what we read and saw at the restaurant, everything looked great! ||We booked the Signature Suite which was an amazing experience! As a designer myself, I can confirm that the room definitely carried both eclectic and eccentric concepts wrapped in one. Very “Keep Austin Weird” if you ask me. Which I’m digging and here for all day! The suite was also UNBELIEVABLY spacious! Another very Texan feel. The only thing/complaint was that the room could benefit from having an actual couch. That and the dining room pendant was weird, but not in a good way. Other than those things, great space!||Lastly, the problem solving aspect. As mentioned earlier, there were some initial problems with some of the front desk staff. However, Aziz and Tester did a phenomenal, and I mean PHENOMENAL, job cleaning up the whole ordeal. In fact, it’s because of them I’m not only leaving a positive review, but a will HIGHLY recommend you all stay at the Renaissance Austin Hotel!! Have any issues? Reach out to those two and they will resolve your issues!!! :-)

Google
I've stayed at this hotel for several years now, and it seems to be going downhill quickly. The room I was in had moist carpets after it rained, and the lights in the bathroom didn't work. The front desk didn't offer much of a solution, except to send an engineer to my room at 6:30 am. I had a few coworkers who lost power several times during their stay as well. My allergies were triggered the entire 4-day stay. Took medicine just together through the night. The entire poolside of the building smells like mildew or worse mold. They now charge for overnight parking but are not responsible for any damage such as theft. Overall, I made the best of my trip.

Google
Our stay at RENAISSANCE AUSTIN HOTEL Marriott property, was nothing short of a nightmare. As loyal Marriott members, we expect a high standard of cleanliness and service, but this experience completely shattered our trust.||||The biggest issue? Bed bugs. We discovered them in our room after noticing bites and spotting in the shower. This is completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one under the Marriott brand. A clean, safe environment should be a top priority, and this hotel clearly failed to meet even the most basic standards.||||When we immediately reported the issue to the front desk, we expected swift action, but instead, we were met with frustrating delays. Rather than promptly addressing the situation and issuing a refund, the staff dragged their feet, offering only vague reassurances and excuses. It was clear that guest satisfaction was not their priority. Being Marriott members, we expected a higher level of service and accountability, yet we were left feeling ignored and undervalued.||||Bed bugs are a serious health and hygiene issue, and the lack of urgency from the hotel was beyond disappointing. We strongly urge Marriott to address this situation and ensure no other guests have to go through such a distressing experience. Until significant improvements are made, we cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

Yelp
This review is for their conference facilities. I was initially apprehensive er disappointed that our conference was being held here and not downtown. Spoiler alert the Renaissance provided us with a strong 4-star experience. There is a very large hall for keynote sessions and many smaller rooms for breakout sessions. There is also a good-sized exhibition hall for vendors. This is an excellent venue for mid-sized events. We were well fed and watered during the event with diet options for all. There is also a coffee shop, restaurant, and a bar for after-hour meetings. There is ample parking and being in the Arboretum there are plenty of off-site dining options for the out of towners.

Yelp
Exhausting half night stay at our luxury corner suite booking. Our room hovered right above the wedding venue that was going on that night, even though we were 7 floors up, the vibrations and volume of the music from the celebration below were too noisy, it lasted past midnight. I feel bad for anyone that was a floor closer to it. They were unable to provide us with a similar room and offered to downgrade us on the opposite side of the hotel, they did not give us any good alternatives or options for the major inconvenience so we decided to check out early and process a refund. There was only one staff member that stood out as friendly and over the top when it came to service, everyone else including the manager was far below any positive rating especially for a 4-star rated hotel. The hotel may look pretty but it's completely overlooked by the service. They also charge $20 overnight parking when there's a hundred empty spaces at the end of each night. I do not recommend this hotel, if you do choose to stay here I'd call in advance to see if your hotel comes with a nightclub package because you should be prepared for a night of partying and zero peace and quiet.

Yelp
Drove almost 5 hours to get here just to find out that reservation was lost in the system (that is what Front desk said) which I doubt it since I already checked in thru the app in the morning. Book a 2 Queens room, high floor, I ended up in the low floor with King bed. I was stuck in the front desk for nearly 40 minutes because they tried to find a room based on my reservation which I believe they already gave it out to other customers. No upgrade, NOTHING! So basically I do not get the room of what I paid for instead they down grade my room reservation. I will definitely not recommend this hotel! It's definitely not worth it.
google avatar

Alaleh P.

Yelp
This hotel is highly overrated! The front desk is very slow and even some of their staff don't know their way around the system! There's not much of a room cleaning happening; I stayed here for 4 nights and they only cleaned my room once! At some point, I had a pile of towels on my bathroom floor and I was out of towels; when I asked for more towels, they only delivered them to my room and left them on the bathroom counter and hadn't even picked up the ones on the floor. After the first night, they were out of body lotions and no matter how many times I asked, they only promised to deliver them to my room and it never happened! Also, the shower was missing a door screen, so the bathroom floor was all wet and I had to use all the towels to clean it up! I believe this hotel lack proper planning and management and apparently they don't train their employees properly!

Yelp
Resort like hotel conveniently located just north of downtown. Nice quiet hotel away from the craziness of downtown, but close enough that you can get downtown in ~15min. The property has a large open lobby and has a a lot of cool places to hangout and chill. There's an indoor and outdoor pool as well as an indoor and outdoor hot tub. Nice gym with a bunch of treadmills, an elliptical, a stair-master, a number of high tech machines and oddly shaped free weights. The concierge lounge is closed on the weekends which is routine. However as a Titanium, they give me a $26 voucher per night per reservation. So as a family of four, this didn't even cover two breakfast entrees. Most other properties would give me a voucher per person that would cover and entree and drink. It's conveniently located with a number of eating and shopping options within walking distance or a close drive by. The Domain is across the highway for upscale shopping. The self parking lot is $20/night which seems high for the location, but much cheaper than downtown. The rooms are nice and clean as expected for a Renaissance. Probably a pretty nice place to have an event like a conference or a wedding.

Yelp
Renaissance Austin Hotel is a beautiful hotel and my stay there was great. Friendly staff at the front and bar. I would stay here again.

Yelp
This would almost be a five star review, but recently, they started charging for overnight self parking in the huge parking lot that has plenty of space. It's not like this is downtown with limited parking, Big thumbs down for that. As for the rest, we've stayed her several times now for my wife's work, and overall, it's quite nice. The beds are clean and a bit firm (almost too firm, but we like them soft, so...). The rooms have a mini fridge and a non-Keurig coffee maker, as well as a safe for belongings. The bathrooms are fairly good size, and feature a tub/shower combo with good water pressure and temperature. One minus is that the bathroom lighting is super bright, so if you have to go in the middle of the night, best to just stumble in darkness. Moving into the common spaces, the lobby is just... monstrous. It's beautiful, with plenty of natural light, and lots of places to sit, visit, work, snack, do whatever. Typically, when we visit, my wife will be at a work site, and I'll stay either in the room or this expansive lobby and work with my laptop. Last time, I even took an external monitor and setup in the lobby. There's a coffee shop that's only open in the morning, and the Knotty Bar and restaurant are an expensive but fairly good dining option. The pool area is nice, with both an outdoor pool, and an indoor heated pool. There's a large in-ground hot tub outside that's gotten a lot of use from us. As for nearby amenities, we've gotten takeout from the CAVA Digital Kitchen that's literally steps away, and there are are two luxury options that are easily walkble, Bulevar and Eddie V's, both recommended. Overall, as others have noted, she's got a little age on her, but it's still a very nice if not super affordable place to stay. The staff have always been great to us, and we'll keep coming back.

Yelp
This is a wonderful hotel for conferences and just visiting Austin. Texas decor abounds, and the facility offers a variety of accommodations for large groups. The Renaissance is convenient to arboretum shopping and access to the delights Austin has to offer!

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel overnight while attending ACL. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the front desk receptionist who checked me in. The lobby is beautiful! The atrium is large and at the time was hosting an event. The rooms face the atrium so from all angles you do have a great view. Our room was a king size room with a balcony facing the atrium. The room was spacious with lots of space for luggage. There was also a sitting area and a desk. The room does need some updates done but overall was still in great shape! I would definitely book this location again as it's more north of town but still close to downtown.

Yelp
Sara, at the bar was friendly and attentive. There was another bartender previously to her that acted like I was an impossion . When Ieft the bar , Sara seemed like an old friend. I look forward to seeing her next week, on my next stay. She is an asset to the hotel.

Yelp
Upgraded to a luxury suite, so we had lots of space - table, desk, separate living, fridge and wet bar. The rooms and common spaces are showing signs of age, but are well kept, overall it's still a nice choice. Free lot parking, no valet service. The down side is that, with the hotel so full, we always had to park a good distance away. Were very glad we didn't have an atrium facing room. There was a large convention at the hotel, and the lobby/atrium noise was quite loud during our stay. Room could be kept reasonably dark and cold. No way to connect Chromecast, TVs are hard mounted against the wall. TVs did at least have Netflix and Youtube.

Yelp
Very nice place to stay in Austin. I attended the TEPSA Conference which was held at the same venue. The hotel had nice outdoor seating spaces, pool, fire pit, and separate hall that we had lunch at. My room I had overlooked the main space of the hotel which was big and beautiful. The hotel decor was very Texan and modern. I loved the feel of the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean. I would highly recommend this spot.

Yelp
If you're looking to stay in Central Austin, this hotel is not the one for you. This is in North Austin. Nice hotel, a little outdated, but amenities are well kept. The gym is smaller, would have thought it was bigger with the size of the hotel. Nice staff and would stay here again. It's a plus since it's also apart of Marriot Bonvoy.

Yelp
First time staying in the arboretum area it's north of Austin! I didn't pick hotel or location but very impressed as my son booked this location and it was perfect. The drive into downtown Austin straight highway and took less than 20 mins. This location is great to be away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. The hotel is adjacent to a high end mall and has plenty of other stores and food choices locally. The hotel has a cool vibe with a open atrium and the view is beautiful especially now with all the Christmas decorations inside the atrium. The staff was pleasant and housekeeping on a as needed basis by simply notifying staff. The swimming pool is small and was closed. There are ample spaces to socialize outside or indoors. I was on the fourth floor and had a pretty nice view of tree line and highway. Overall a good stay no complaints.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty nice hotel! Everything was super clean and neat. We did have some issues with some kids doing a ding dong ditch at 11pm but that's not the hotel's fault. Only complaint is that their shuttle service was very slow.
google avatar

Maricel J.

Yelp
Lovely hotel, i love the interior of the hotel. Stayed here for a few nights to attend a wedding. All the staffs were friendly and welcoming. Clean rooms, didn't really use much of the hotel services. But we were very content with our stay.

Yelp
I enjoyed my first stay here in Austin! All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The live music performing in the lobby bar on the day I arrived was amazing! I think my favorite part about this hotel was the peloton room they had. There were 6 bikes in this room and the staff consistently cleaned and restocked this area with headphones, towels, & waters.

Robert L.

Yelp
Loud parties at night with paper thin walls. Fire alarms during the day. Nice couches. Staff borderline rude.
google avatar

Yelp
I never leave Yelp review but this made me have to. This isn't about the hotel, it's about the @ustinbytes inside the lobby. They gave me the worst bagel I have every gotten in my life. By a long shot. I asked for a toasted bagel with butter and what I got was a bagel that was so stale I literally could not bite into it. Almost broke a tooth and it didn't have butter. I really hope they improve their quality control because this was a joke.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, tons of parking, and decent enough location. But I think I would've been more impressed if I hadn't spent four days prior to my stay at the JW Marriott downtown. I stayed for a week here as part of a work conference (pre-pandemic). The lobby is grand and sprawling, with comfortable seating areas and little decorated nooks and crannies. The bar and dining area is pretty big, too, with a two-story outdoor eating and relaxing space. The bar was well-stocked, though the food wasn't as impressive as what we received for breakfast and lunch as part of the conference. Our primary conference space was located one level down from the main lobby, in what looked like a repurposed parking garage -- there were big, oddly placed pillars between vendor booths -- but most of the actual meetings and breakout sessions were held on the ground level, where temperature control was a little more dependable. The rooms, chairs, lighting, and audio/visual supplies were all adequate, the restrooms were all clean, and the space was perfect for what we needed. The food they served was good, too! Decent options for all the different eating preferences you'll find in a large, diverse crowd. They provided self-serve coffee, tea, and soda stations and the happy hour drink selection was appreciated, too -- some well-known domestic options as well as selections from local breweries. The staff was always pleasant and helpful -- from those who were serving and working with conference attendees and vendors, to the front desk staff, vallet attendants, and bartenders. I'd gladly attend another conference here as either a guest or host.

Yelp
My 5-star review is based on my wedding that was held here on 10/16/21. Hopefully this will be helpful for others that are looking for a venue as well :) Since 95% of my wedding guests are from out of state, my husband and I were looking for a venue in a prime location in Austin, close to The Domain dining, and have our ceremony, reception, and hotel stay all under one roof. I've always loved all of the Marriott hotel properties, and I was hesitant to even contact the Renaissance Austin Hotel because quite honestly I didn't think it would fit into my budget, but I'm so glad I did! As soon as my husband and I first walked into the hotel, we knew this was the place we wanted to get married and signed the contract very soon afterwards ! It is classy, beautiful and the Atrium ...is just absolutely gorgeous! I had the pleasure of working with Erica and Maureen whom have been so friendly, warm and welcoming since day one! During our menu-tasting, I had requested for a different sauce to be made for our entree dish, and when I came back for a second tasting, the chef did such an amazing job! We've received so many great compliments on the food, how beautiful the hotel is and how much fun our guests had! The Renaissance Austin Hotel will always hold a special place in my heart!

Yelp
Not sure why it has such a bad rating but we actually really enjoyed our stay here. We always have a hard time finding a nicer hotel that can accommodate a family of 5. And since our kids are too young to stay in an adjourned room by themselves, this hotel was just perfect for us. We booked their junior suite which offered two queens bed and a fold out couch. Lots of space. The bathroom was spacious with a bathtub. I also appreciated the large mirror (which is a nice helpful option if you are dressing up to go out). The staff at the front desk can be a hit and miss sometimes. Depending on who had their shift that day you can get a very friendly answer/ accommodation to your question/request or someone who just hates her/his job and doesn't like talking to you at all! If you want to enjoy complimentary wifi, it's worth to sign up for BONVOY (which is their honorary member system). It's free but that saved us 15$ a day for pretty fast internet that would allow us to stream movies and the kids play games. Clean rooms, fairly quiet but I agree with some reviews the beds are quite uncomfortable and hard to sleep on.

Yelp
Great stay here for a company conference. Clean rooms, nice lounge, and a good conference venue. Docked a star because of a front desk staff member who was unpleasant, but everyone else was great.

Karen M.

Yelp
The room was very comfortable and everyone was very welcoming. Convienient location. It had coffee maker and refrigerator in the room- looked like chest of drawers also has a ice bucket.

Yelp
Came here for a marriage retreat with my husband on a weekend recently and had the BEST TIME EVER! Loved the layout of the hotel as it has great rooms with a huge area in the center of the building that is perfect for holding conferences at. I would definitely recommend this hotel! It was comfortable and clean. I loved their coffee shop, order a chai tea latte! By the way, they have a good breakfast buffet for $20/person. If you're looking for an easy walkable lunch, there is a Zoey's Kitchen in the same parking lot, and if you're looking for a great date night to go to, check out Roaring Fork!

Yelp
I had a great experience at Renaissance Austin Hotel. My employer booked a management retreat here so the hotel was our homebase for several days including most meals, team bonding events and happy hour. The staff were very kind and considerate, the rooms were clean and the community spaces for meetings and presentations were perfect for a big company meeting. I also wanted to especially highlight how wonderful the front desk staff and manager are at this hotel. I am a new mom and this was one of my first times away from my baby. For anyone who has been a parent, you know it is emotionally challenging to be away from baby and even more complicated with needing to pump while breastfeeding. There are just so many logistics- bottles and parts to wash, milk to keep cool, finding a private space to pump. The hotel staff helped me navigate all of this with grace and even allowed me use their private break room so that I could have privacy to pump and helped me get ice to put in my cooler for the pumped milk. A new working mom (at least in the US) can't ask for better!

Yelp
The hotel itself was beautiful. Check-in was great. But the room... The room is about a decade late for being updated. The bed was so hard and uncomfortable I didn't get much sleep. The bathroom was dirty, found a lot of hair that wasn't mine in there. I'm a male with brown hair and there was a lot of long hair, and red hair. While hair doesn't gross me out, seeing it made me ask what else wasn't clean there. The room was marketed online as one "with a view". That view that I assumed would be the arboretum...was the lobby. Disappointed there as well. While the hotel is gorgeous, I unfortunately won't stay here again.

Yelp
This hotel has two great things going for it. Number one, the location is phenomenal with great access to MoPac, Loop 360, US 183, and even to I-35. Also, unlike a lot of other hotels, there's plenty of free self parking. I chose this location for a staycation weekend and needing a home base for a friend visiting from out of town. We managed to get a very competitively priced suite via the Marriott website. I received a notification via the app that my room was ready -- ahead of schedule. Further, the room had the extra towels that I'd requested through the app. However, there were a couple of points that really took away from the premium hotel experience. First, the room itself was slightly dated. That's ok, but one door knob was broken and a lamp in the living area was also broken. In my opinion, those should've been caught. Second, housekeeping was haphazard. On Saturday, our room hadn't been touched by 4 PM. Before we left for the evening, we asked the front desk to address this. When we returned much later, the room was cleaned -- but the towels provided were clearly smaller and approaching threadbare. The location and parking are stellar, but the lack of attention to detail holds this hotel back -- especially for a suite.

Yelp
This is an A plus hotel, and I would stay here again. Here's the condensed version: clean, quiet rooms, clean facilities, very courteous and professional staff. BUT, the parking sucks. Huge parking lot, but it's shared by all the nearby shops and stores, so it's usually full. Check-in experience: Merry checked me in. She's very professional and explained where the bar, the restaurant, etc. was located. She even hooked me up with a room with an outside view instead of one overlooking the atrium. The hotel: it's setup like an Embassy Suites with one of those huge open atriums, but it's higher class than Embassy Suites. The room: Spacious, clean and very quiet - I never heard a peep from anyone next door, out in the hallway, above me or below me. The TV is a smart TV; it has the Netflix and Hulu apps installed on it, but obviously you have to login with your own account. BONUS points for those of you still paying attention - it also has the HBO GO app installed, and it's FREE, yes FREE boys and girls - no account needed! The closet is very unusual - it's not deep enough for the hangers to hang straight when you close the door. You have to turn them to an angle. There are no drawers to store your "non-closet" clothes in. There's one drawer, but when you open it, it has a safe in it. This is good if people are continually breaking into your room and stealing your underwear. The only other option for your "non-closet" clothes is two shelves on the nightstand that the alarm clock sits on. In-room Wi-Fi - worked perfectly, no complaints at all. They have an indoor pool AND an outdoor pool.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel. The shower curtains are too short so there's water all of the floor very inconvenient. The sink is so close to the faucet that you can barely wash your hands luckily we're here for a business trip so it was payed for, but in my opinion it is not worth the money you would have to spend to stay here.

Yelp
Stayed here for the first time two weeks ago, and we'll be back. (Our son and daughter-in-law recently moved to an apartment about half a mile from the hotel.) Room was fine: clean, comfortable, decent size, in good repair. Hotel is nice and there are some cool things within walking distance. But it's the staff that led to my five-star review. Every person -- valet, front desk, coffee shop, housekeeping -- was kind, helpful and professional. They seemed to genuinely care about our experience, so much so that I asked for the general manager to praise the staff. Just an excellent experience.

Yelp
Was here in Austin for 2 day work meeting. Got in early-ish and was given a 2 queen room and asked the staff to see if I could switch due to that it was just me. Staff was amazing and did. Room was nice and clean and spacious. The cafe was perfect for grabbing a quick bite to eat in the morning before heading off to the conference room for the day. Lobby/Atrium was spacious and room for multiple conferences/meetings to be going on at the same time. Food that was catered for our lunch was seasoned and cooked very well. Only con was that the elevators can be a little slow. Would stay here again if in town for work.

Yelp
Great company offsite for 12. Rooms were excellent. Service was impeccable and food in the lobby bar was outstanding. Chipotle peppers, ahi tuna salsa with chips. Catered lunches were very good. Service and responsiveness of staff were outstanding.

Yelp
Omg. Its a first night here. I woke up in the middle of night because of the ac I can't sleep now. Room is dusty This ac air is very smelly and aim to the bed right to my face. keep blows to my face while I sleep. I needed to wake up few times with horrible cough. Also They have no room slippers so don't ask for them. Im going to book an other hotel when i come back to Austin. Just little things r matter to me

Yelp
I had a conference to attend in Austin, and as it was being held at the Renaissance Hotel, I figured that was a good place to get a room. Getting to the hotel isn't that bad, so long as you are accustomed to dealing with traffic and traffic patterns in Texas. I have been around Texas enough to not have too many problems. The parking at the hotel is a bit confusing if the outdoor parking lots are full (they were). There is a parking garage, but the garage is not exactly the most accessible for those that self-park. I never did find an elevator in that garage, if there even was one. Once inside, the hotel is what you would expect. The front clerks were very helpful in getting me situated and answering questions, and I had my room key in no time. I was on the Eastern end of the building with a room overlooking that part of Northern Austin, with the door to my room on a balcony overlooking the main atrium of the hotel a number of floors below. I really appreciated that view, particularly in the morning, as I was getting up when the sun was rising and had some pretty spectacular views of the city at that time of day. The rooms have the amenities you would expect in a large mainstream hotel that offers high level accommodations. I did have an odd issue with my bed, but that was taken care of. There is plenty of room for the business person that works on their laptop in their rooms, and I am appreciative of the fact that their desks are not covered with a glass panel (makes for lousy mouse usage). I got to sample the food produced by the kitchen at the hotel, though I never actually ate at the restaurant, and it was all decent food. Conference facilities were also quite nice, though I noticed a lack of pens and pads of paper. I am a bit old school in that regard and like to take notes manually, but there was no easy way to do so. I did view the pool area, though I never partook in activities down there. They looked sufficient, as did the patio area in the back. If the conference I attended occurs at this hotel again next year, I will certainly be happy to stay here.

Yelp
I had high expectations for this venue. In hindsight, I should have checked the Yelp reviews first. Now, as I scan the less than stellar reviews, it is glaringly obvious that I should have done more research. I could have stayed at a Motel 6 and had a better experience. Long story short, I needed to extend my stay but the booking agent created a secondary reservation instead. Upon check in, the front desk clerk identified this as an error and cancelled the secondary reservation to extend the first. *Please note: I did ask the front desk if this would be an issue. She assured me that it wasn't a problem* Absolutely wrong. June 27th The cancellation that the front desk clerk processed triggered a cancellation charge of $172.02 unbeknownst to me. June 28th I noticed 3 pending charges on my credit card statement and decided to check with the front desk. I wanted to ensure that everything was clear so we didn't have to deal with it during checkout. I explained the situation to Saad, the assistant manager. He acknowledged that a cancellation fee was charged in error, offered points, and reassured me the funds would be returned to my account. July 9th Funds have yet to appear. In the interim, I have called, emailed, and texted for assistance but to no avail. *The cherry on top* After days of trying, I was able to get ahold of the manager, Deborah. It involved calling for several days and an unapologetically long hold time. On this conversation, I repeated everything that had happened for the 100th time. At this point, I am exhausted from repeating myself and was just dying for someone competent to assist. Deborah told me that she would reach out to accounting and address the matter. Once again, I was reassured and she even told me that it was "simple". I laughed, because I was putting in some serious effort on something that was supposedly "simple". For her to know how much time I've invested in trying to resolve this matter and to dismiss it as an easy fix was a bit offensive to say the least. She told me that accounting was still in the office and she would reach out that day. She concluded by providing me with her number and told me that she would keep me updated. A small part of me began to believe there was light at the end of the tunnel. Let's see! If it's an "easy fix" then that means the nightmare is almost over. Surprise! Nightmare not over. Two days later, after not receiving an update, I reached out and informed Deborah that my refund had not been applied. She called me very confused and asked if I was referring to my points. Now, the points I was promised had not been applied yet. I begin to doubt if they ever will be, but they were the least of my concerns. I asked her if she had followed up with accounting for the money that was owed to me, and she confirmed that she had not. She stated that she was confused and thought that "cash" meant something different... This is quite possibly the most feeble excuse that I have ever heard in my life. I asked her why she had not followed up after promising to do so. Deborah said that she "f**ked up". I requested that she email the accounting team today (Friday) and they could review on Monday. Deborah refused to send the email. She said that "ethically" she would not send the email today. Honestly, this is one of the stupidest things that I have ever heard. In what world is sending an email unethical? They aren't in office so who would be bothered by the email? All that email would do is take just an ounce of pressure off of me so that I don't have to call AGAIN to remind people to do their jobs. If you promise to do something, then you follow through. Simple as that. But I have been let down by every single person I interacted with at this establishment. Customer service is not comprised of pretty promises; it is rooted in action. Finally, I would like to add that I was given permission to post this by Deborah. I told her that I shouldn't have to work this hard for my own money. I had been putting in so much time communicating with the Renaissance that I should be charging at this point. I communicated that I deserved more for this experience. I was disgusted by the amount of time spent conversing with them over a matter that was supposed to be resolved several interactions ago. Deborah said that she would not do anything "more" for me (I guess "more" - meaning no more points - that I haven't received yet... lol). It was just laughable. Something so sad and ridiculous that it was comical. Anyway, she said that I was welcome to post as many reviews as I would like to "feel better". Thanks Deborah! I appreciate your encouragement to share my experience. I am glad that you believe in transparency. Sadly, I won't "feel better" until my money is back in my account. Fortunately, I don't have the same follow through issues that the Renaissance does.

Yelp
Toxic work environment due to HR Manager that makes you work life intolerable. Unbelievable for this type of business with the Marriott name! Stay away you do not want to work here!

Yelp
Stayed for 2 nights for a work conference...I didn't pay for anything, but I will say it was pleasant stay! That said, this hotel is about 15-20 minutes north of downtown Austin, so there doesn't seem to be anything fun or touristy to do in this area. 2 different corporate AF conferences were going here at the same time... PROS: -Clean, modern, spacious rooms -Impressive state of the art conference facilities for us corporate whores. -Friendly service all around -Restaurant has good food with some affordable options, such as my tasty $16 beef brisket entree. CONS: -Far from the real Austin. -Far from Austin's airport. -Hotel bar is rather expensive. Barrel Bourbon on the rocks was $35!!! The retail price of the entire bottle is about $100. A good hotel for the corporate conference crowd, but due to the distance I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're on vacation.

Yelp
The worst hotel experience of my life. Reserved a luxury suite for 3 nights, we were put in the adha version (rm437). The mini fridge freezer was completely frosted over, the room was hot and musty, ac was only blowing in the front half of the room, bathroom didn't have any sink counter space at all. Called front desk and got moved to the non adha version (rm 737). Room was much more comfortable, but nothing about it was "luxury". It was just big. The stay got worse from here. Went down to the restaurant at 9:45 to order dinner after changing rooms, but the kitchen was closed. Front desk said it was open till 10 when I checked in. The next morning, I found the hotel restaurant dirty when I ordered breakfast (floor was sticky and food scraps were present on the floor). Also, the hotel seemed under staffed during our stay. To top it off, my toddler woke up covered with bites (or hives? as the hotel's independent inspection and found no pests.) Needless to say, we checked out early.

Yelp
My husband and I decided at the last minute to fly to Austin for the weekend and was pleased that the Renaissance Austin Hotel had availability. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the front desk staff. The person checking us in was super friendly and loaded with answers to all of our questions about the area. Check in went smooth and we were happy with our room. Everything was clean and our room was spacious. The bed was firm but comfortable. They did not have the super luxurious sheets that a lot of Marriott properties are using but the duvet was nice and the pillows were great. I would definitely recommend staying here and would gladly return. We tried the bar & restaurant outside on the patio but was disappointed in the service. The atmosphere was amazing and I think that it would be a great place for just drinks. We tried to enjoy coffee and dessert but it did not work out the way that we hoped it would. As soon as our server arrived at the table instead of introducing himself he made a rude comment about bringing an outside dessert to the table. What he didn't know was that I purchased a Pecan Tart at Terry Black's to have with coffee the next morning and didn't want to drop it off in my room beforehand. I was at his restaurant at the suggestion of the front desk to have coffee and a peach cobbler by the fire pit. The waiter told us that the coffee was old so it would not be good. I appreciated the truth but if you are not going to serve coffee take it off of the menu. He was still under the assumption that we were going to eat my pecan tart so after taking our drink order he walked away. We had to wait for him to make his way back around to complete our order. When the cobbler arrived it was still cool in the center so we had to send it back. At the table our waiter stuck his finger inside of the dessert and licked it. That's the kind of "food service" disgusting that makes me cringe. He did it so causally that I felt uncomfortable with his handling our food. After tasting it he told us that it usually comes out crispy and good. We passed on having it heated up or having them make a fresh one.

Yelp
Very disappointing wedding and reception. The banquet person assigned to our event was very pushy and wanted everything her way - she was not open to different idea's or settings. She took off on vacation just before our event and came back a couple of days before it. She was very difficult to communicate with and slow to respond. The room was hot - AC didn't seem to work. We wanted a muffin or bagel for breakfast and the only place available was the restaurant (which doesn't have individual muffins/bagels), fortunately a lady heard us and directed us into a back room where we found breakfast taco's, muffins, and different breakfast items. There's no signage to let you know this place was available. The only positive thing out of our whole stay was the free shuttle ride and the driver, IWest. He was fun and knew how to provide the best customer service! I DO NOT recommend this place for a wedding/reception. It was the biggest disappointment for our children's biggest event of their lives!

Yelp
Rude staff checked us in. The room was 80* when we walked in and took forever to cool down. I'm sure the floor is more comfortable than the bed. The sink is too shallow, it's hard to wash your hands and not touch it. The fitness center is open all night, but you have to go through the pool to get to it. The pool closes at 11pm, and they lock the door. You have to get someone from the front desk, which is across the hotel from the pool, to let you in to the fitness center or business center after 11pm. If you have a room overlooking the restaurant, it is really loud in your room. Check your receipt, several people at our conference were overcharged. It may look fancy but you are nickel and dimed for everything and there are no extras. Go to Embassy Suites around the corner for all the little extras, including free drinks at the bar from 5:30-7:30pm. I won't be returning to this location, just not worth the money!

Yelp
Hotel and amenities were good. Most folks working there are very pleasant and polite... Except for the nighttime front desk manager on December 7th. I had lost my car FOB (Key) and the tracker with it said that it was last at the check in desk. I was pretty stressed because it is a rare and expensive car. The make on the FOB would be easy to find the car with because of the rarity. Anyway, the 2 front desk folks had customers, and he was sort of looking at something on one of the 2 workers screens. Again, I was stressing so after a bit, I asked him if anyone had just turned in a set of keys. He refused to answer me and said they were busy. It took 20 minutes, during which time I asked that same question, and he repeated that they were busy. Finally, he called lost and found and handed me the phone. ???? WTH? He did not even listen to me. They would not be in lost and found. They would have known at the desk that someone just handed them a set of keys. I will never stay at this hotel again unless that manager had moved on to some other place. He has no business being client facing with his nasty attitude and behavior. I am one of their lifetime titanium elites, which means I have almost lived in Marriott properties for the last 20 some years and never have I treated so shabbily.

Yelp
We had some rewards points with Marriott, so we decided to splurge on a suite. Disappointing. First our room had a lovely view of the rooftop air conditioning units. Okay. Not the view of the west Austin hills I was hoping for, but okay. Next I looked for a USB port to charge my phone. Nope. Not a one. That's annoying. I mean even Motel 6 has USB ports. Surely it's here and I'm missing it. So I call down to the concierge to ask. Ring ring ring ring. No answer. I wait a little while try again. Ring ring ring ring. No answer. Also, no mini bar. Want a bottle of water, gotta go down to the snack shack to get one. Again, been in a lot of hotels, and almost all of them have bottled water in the room, either free or not. But here I've got three TVs in the room, but no USB ports, no bottled water, and apparently nobody manning the phone down at the desk. Then there were the people next door with the screaming child. And since we had a door adjoining the two rooms, the sound was amplified. Screaming child. Parent yelling at screaming child. Just fabulous. The room itself was rather nice. Lots of space. Comfy bed. That's why we're at two stars and not one. Since we come to Austin fairly regularly, we will continue searching for a better hotel experience.

Yelp
Decent stay. Pros: free parking, affordable, room was clean enough, friendly custodial staff Cons: uncomfortable bed, masking policy not enforced, only 2 elevators out of 4 worked on what seemed to be a busy weekend. We were given the wrong room number and ended up traipsing around the hotel with baggage and a toddler before having to go back downstairs to the front desk to get the correct room number and key. Covid isn't gone yet. The hotel should enforce their masking policy better. People were walking around mask-less. At one point were stuck in the elevator with a mask-less couple talking on their phones about how they had sick relatives.

Yelp
My partner and I took a weekend trip to Austin so we booked a king room. I wish I would've read the Yelp reviews before booking but by the time I did it was too late. The check-in process was smooth so no complaints there. The room though..... The room was dusty and we also found trash behind the TV. The bedside tables were dusty and we also found some hairs. The bathroom tub had a hair and the surface of it just looked dirty. Our TV stopped working the second day but after we called the front desk they sent someone up to fix it. We put the AC to the lowest temperature since we like our room cold and it felt like the air was coming out warm. The bed was not well made and after seeing the bathroom we were skeptical of the overall cleanliness of the bed. The indoor pool was closed and also be ready to see some employees/guests not wearing a mask. This hotel has potential but it needs some major remodeling. One positive is the location, it's close to hiking trails but also to some good restaurants.

Yelp
I had a saved review draft from about four years ago that would have given this place five stars. I even remember in 2013 driving in from SA to have a job interview with a major pharma company in one of the conference rooms. I was super impressed with the place then. Even more so a few months later when they hosted a yelp elite event. And staying there in 2016, I was blown away by the staff and amenities. This go around, we actually left two nights in and went to another Marriott brand down the road. We could hear the A/C going the whole time we were there just trickling water. Pretty sure there was a mold problem as we both had huge respiratory issues in the room only and there was dry rot in the bathroom. I especially loved looking up at the popcorn ceiling... The place is just falling apart. Not quite sure why Renaissance allows them to be a part of the brand given other namesake locations are nowhere near this level of mediocrity. When we left and were asked why we were leaving early, we gave all the reasons and the room number for repairs but it didn't seem like a surprise or a pressing issue to the front desk. So. Great job, Renaissance. Thanks for knocking me out of review writing hibernation.

Yelp
Not the top notch hotel I thought it was going to be! Most of the experience went well; however the Club Lounge was just okay. The nightly food in the lounge was disappointing. The coffee machine in Club Lounge was amazing! The WiFi worked fairly well in most of the hotel. The cafe downstairs was overpriced and the grilled cheese was very rich. The house chips were not good! They tasted like oil. Valet was awesome! The fitness room was small but efficient! Indoor and outdoor pool were clean!

Yelp
Stayed here just before Christmas while on travel. Hotel is beautiful, staff was great, and overall it was a good experience, as a hotel should be. The rooms were well thought out, the food at the restaurant was good. I was mildly annoyed at the idea of a hotel charging for WiFi access (that's a bit ridiculous), but the staff also reversed that charge when I was checking out, so kudos to them for that. This is one that will stay on my list of places to stay next time I'm in the area and need a hotel.
