Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel

Had a great night stay! The staff was so sweet-Judy at the front desk made our son feel like royalty for his bday. They even sent up a little treat. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. We had an amazing view of the river from our room. Great location! Thank you for making our special night in the city so memorable!

Let me start by saying this hotel is in a great location and has easy access off Wacker for valet parking. The staff was very friendly and accommodating during our stay. The rooms themselves are nice, maybe just a little dated. Breakfast at the staytion market was good with plenty of options. You can't go wrong here. Will stay here again the next time we are in the Chicago area.

Great hotel. The lobby floor is great because it has a bar and a sitting area. There are connecting rooms available, and the rooms are well kept up to try my standards. New furniture. Highly recommend staying, rooms have great view of downtown riverwalk. 25 floors

I want to take the time to express the beautiful unforgettable experience my family and I encountered at this location! The young lady Paola at the front desk gave us a masterful service! She is polite, attentive, and professional at all means, definitely the right person to have as the face of the hotel. Overall, from check in to check out I loved it!

Amazing location. We were able to get a room with a fantastic view of the river. Very nice room. Overall fun vibe. Only complaint is we found out two days before the trip that the lounge would be closed for the holidays and they don't offer breakfast vouchers. I guess it pays to call ahead and check on important details.

The Renaissance Chicago Downtown is a centrally located, convenient option if you're looking for a Marriott property. Service during our stay was great, and the lobby/bar areas were high energy and busy. Our room however was run down and in need of renovations (scratches everywhere, old furniture, just dated all around.) Nice spot for location, but not for the rooms themselves at this point.

The staff here at the Renaissance Chicago is top-notch. TJ assisted right before he was leaving his shift to pre-block me into a room as I was hotel hopping and plans had changed. Upon check-in, I was greeted by Levi Dolphin, who provided a seamless check-in and check-out. He really showed true genuine care, upgraded me, and it was truly refreshing to see. Javier was a great help on the second shift, taking the time to help with my wi-fi connection. Truly a stellar staff and they all need to be recognized. When my travel takes me to Chicago, I will definitely stay at the Renaissance Chicago. Thank you!

I stayed at Renaissance Hotel and had an issue with a third-party vendor. Raphael took care of me and my family and made sure we had everything we needed. I truly appreciate this hotel and their staff. Raphael is a high-level manager. I definitely recommend this place to stay in Chicago downtown.

This hotel is ok. As lifetime platinum, I typically try to stay at Renaissance properties due to what I have perceived as good recognition for a this level of loyalty. The physical location is great. It is right in the loop with easy access to the L. The rooms are not bad but could use a refresh. Staff were generally friendly. One of two main gripes relates to this properties M Lounge not being open on weekends. Instead, they offer a voucher for a fruit cup and stale pastry paired with a small cup of coffee or juice. When I asked for a refill on my coffee, I was told that I would have to pay for it or use the keurig in my room. Give me a break. It would be cheaper for the hotel, better for the environment and a better experience to provide the refill. Another frustrating surprise was hitting me with the 'destination fee' of $25++ (~$30) each night. It would've been nice if they told you about it upon arrival instead of finding out in the emailed folio. I thought Marriott had gotten away from hidden fees when they started showing all in pricing on the app at booking. I should've known to read the fine print. Bottom line, I won't be staying at this property again. There are plenty of better options close by.

Love this location! Central to lots of things you might want, restaurants, shopping, and sites. Staff was friendly and my view was awesome. Will definitely return.

DO NOT STAY HERE. This is a two-star hotel. My recent stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing. The facility lacks basic upkeep and cleanliness. The bathroom had a shower curtain instead of a door, and outdated popcorn ceilings. The bathroom cabinets and door were chipped, indicating a clear neglect of maintenance. The bathroom ceiling had a dirty vent, and the overall cleanliness of the room was unacceptable, with even the light switches being filthy. The shower faucet was detached from the wall, which was particularly concerning. Additionally, the hotel manager, Kristin, was unprofessional and argumentative when approached with these issues. It seems she is accustomed to negative reviews and has not taken any steps to address them. The hotel lobby has been remodeled and looks nice, but this is the only area that appears to have been updated. The hotel is in a great location, but I regret not choosing to stay at another hotel, such as Trump Tower, which is also in a prime location and where I will book next time.

Really great experience here. I'm a Bonvoy platinum titanium for life. This hotel is superb! Great location, great club, excellent bed, super views of the River. I was ill and had a late flight. They were kind enough to let me rest in my room till I had to leave at 5 pm. Coffee shops and restaurants galore in walking distance. I wish this was my hotel every week! My client used meeting space: we were very well cared for.

The best view of the Chicago river! We had room 1232 one bedroom suite. Looking out the window at the activity on the river was a highlight of my trip! The restaurant downstairs was very good. My 11 yr old said the pizza was one of the best he had. I had the smash burger and it was very good as well. Very good homemade buttermilk ranch dressing. The lobby is happening with a bar that is always humming.

While the "destination fee" isn't of huge consequence, and while they told us about it, it does seem somewhat dishonest. Instead, why not up the room charge $25/day, and give you a voucher for the businesses in the building? At best, it's weird. That said, the location of this hotel, and the view from the river side are unbeatable. There's lots to walk to nearby, including the public transit, which will get you to everything else. The room itself was decent. It was clean. While not quiet, it wasn't the noisiest place we've stayed. The beds were comfortable, the thermostat worked, the shower had pressure, there was a refrigerator, and there was a safe in the closet. The negatives were minor: the drapes wouldn't close without a little gap letting in light, and the TV remote set the world record for slowest response time. The clock alarm, set by a previous guest, woke us at 6am. That, I guess, isn't the hotel's fault, really. Now I know to always check the clock!

Beautiful hotel in a great location! I enjoyed the views from the executive suite and how spacious my room was. The bed was also so comfortable! Valet service was also a breeze. Staff are so helpful and welcoming! I highly recommend this hotel for its location, most of all.

Splurged for a king river view executive suite, fitting for a celebration of the wife's birthday. Large room, with the bed separate from the living. Loved that there was a second half bath in addition to a well sized main bath. Fabulous for when the wife is getting ready. Wish there were more hotels with additional half bath options! The main bath was a good size, though the shower pretty tiny, though functional. The bed, with requested foam pillows, was very comfortable and great for a good night's sleep, particularly with being able to make the room dark and cold. A four seat high top table for dining. Microwave in addition to small fridge. The seating was pretty sad for such an upscale room. The bedroom had a small fainting couch. What was in the living room was similar, though in a poor state and not at all comfortable. Really surprising that such a nice room would not have comfortable chairs or at least a comfortable couch. Living room tv was free standing, so easy to disconnect the hotel's feed, and plug in your own device such as an Amazon firestick. Gorgeous view of the river. It's a nice hotel and in a quite convenient location.

Conveniently located to everything you need to do downtown, this hotel got the job done. I would come back again in the future. GLOWS: -They have a Heated doorway and very helpful doormen to assist with luggage -We were able to check in early and get an extended check out, very helpful! -Complimentary Garretts popcorn upon check in -The lobby is nicely updated. The bar, Staytion restaurant and the rooftop bar are great additions (I only had pasties at the bar during breakfast) -The view from our corner room was very nice! -Live music in lobby on the weekends, and a cool space to enjoy it -Grateful for the in room fridge! GROWS: -The rooms are basic, still older touches and amenities --The under cabinet light in the bathroom is everything though! -The new destination fee that hotels charge is not a problem, as long as it is properly explained. Please use your credit per day here because it does not accumulate for you to use all at once. They missed explaining that well at check-in

Loved my stay here! Central location for visiting other neighborhoods, cute 3rd floor outdoor bar, spacious lobby and rooms.

We stayed here for our 26th anniversary. It was a beautiful stay! The hotel upgraded our room to a corner suite on the 22nd floor. The views were amazing! We loved the room. Very comfortable. Updated, clean, and nicely decorated. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs was delicious. We went there for lunch. I had the ceasar salad with salmon and my husband bad the ceasar salad with shrimp. Both were delicious! The salmon was a nice portion. The waiter was great. They have a beautiful, huge lobby. Lots of comfy seats to choose from. There's a rooftop bar where they were having karaoke that night. We tried to get a drink from the bar before dinner but they were too busy to get to us before we had to leave. We did get a drink there after dinner and sat on the "stadium like" seats. We didn't realize that there was a VIP lounge where we could have gotten a drink before dinner. However we did go to the lounge for breakfast. The breakfast selection was good. The lounge is very nice. The hotel is very walkable! We could see the river and downtown from our windows. There's plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. The Chicago Theater is right across the street. It's a great location! We would definitely stay here again. We highly recommend staying here for business or pleasure.

The view here is everything!! This large hotel can be a bit chaotic out on the driveway and in the lobby, but service was always pleasant. It's a big hotel so the crowds are expected. Our room was on a high floor facing the river. Trust me - it's worth the extra money. You can watch the city scene, Riverwalk and all of the boats sailing by. Our room was spacious and comfortable. It felt partially updated. The rooftop lounge was very nice. Al Fresco views with a cold coattail works for me. It felt cozy and stylish. We enjoyed ourselves. I would stay again because of the unparalleled views. It didn't feel super personable in the lobby but that was not enough of a deterrent to worry about.

I stay at the Renaissance almost every time I'm in Chicago. It's a popular hotel that sells out frequently forcing me to accept other options somewhat regularly. The location is very convenient for my needs and the service is always five stars. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel.

Spent 2 lovely nights at this beautiful hotel, but not $400 per night kinda nice. It's conveniently located in the heart of downtown Chicago right by the Riverwalk. It's surrounded by a lot of coffee shops and restaurants. The room is very spacious and clean. Bed, pillows, and blanket are comfy. My company hosted an event here on the second floor and everything was beautiful. The entire staff (Gerard, Asrif, etc) delivered exceptional service to us and took great care of us and our customers at the event.

Lobby area is very modern and has a full bar/restaurant as well as small grab and go check out station. The rooms, however, are very outdated. The bathroom was old and the door would never stay open as it was built on a slant. The closet is small and dark, and gets blocked if the bathroom door is open. The hotel staff was friendly, bar service was not. Some rooms have great views of the river but others face the CTA tracks. Much better hotels in Chicago for a similar price.

Going on record here to say that I paid $25 for a Grey Goose Martini in the lobby lounge, before tax or tip. To be fair, I was paying more for the calm surroundings and not being jostled at a bar. Now, I don't mind splurging for something high quality, but considering that this was a regular, garden variety cocktail, with no twists or flourishes apart from the usual olives, I was taken aback. I remember visiting this lobby bar several years ago for a Bloody Mary and did not experience any sticker shock at all, so I am puzzled. Even if I had an expense account, I'd be hard pressed to justify coming back here for a cocktail given the plenitude of other options available.

I had a lovely three night stay and I would stay again and/or recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Chicago!! First off, the location is perfect. It's right in the center of downtown Chicago. You can cross the street and the River Walk is right there. You can walk a few blocks and you're in the famous Michigan Avenue shopping area. It's also pretty central to the rest of the city - can easily travel to Chinatown, the Navy Pier, etc. Ubers/Lyfts we're easy to arrange and theres a subway and L train entrance/exit literally around the corner. Location alone gets 5 stars. The hotel is gorgeous and clean. The lobby area is huge and has a nice "cafe". I never saw it open, but you can order room service from there. The staff checking us in/out were so accommodating. They were also great whenever we needed something extra. The rooms were just as beautiful. I had a double Queen and it was so spacious. We had a seating area that was nice as well. I loved the view from our room - 1512. We could see the chicago theatre on one side and then the river on the other side. There's also a nice ledge to sit on so you can just enjoy the view with morning coffee. The bathroom had great lighting and plenty of amenities. I love when hotels offer shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It was also well stocked with towels. There were 2 body mirrors too, which was very handy! The beds were really comfortable and clean too. The room had a pretty updated T.V. And fridge. There wasn't a microwave but on our last night we asked about one and the front desk sent one up for us! Awesome! My only complaint would be the "room service." A part of the daily resort fees is $25 towards room service. You can use this credit daily for their "A-La-Carte" menu. What they don't mention is there's a $5 delivery fee, it's in the fine print on the menu. Also, when reading my invoice it wasn't listed on there but my bank statement clearly charged me for these services. So make sure you double check your hotel invoice and your bank statement before even leaving and checking out! The hotel was so perfect, I can't even dock a star for the room service annoyance. Everything else was fantastic and it was probably the best hotel stay I've had to date.

Such a beautiful hotel with amazing views. As a titanium elite I was able to get a suite thanks to the help of Rafael at the front desk (by the way hats off to him as he was very personable, welcoming , and courteous). The hotel room was clean, the air conditioning/heating worked perfectly, the beds were comfortable, the pillows were fluffy, the club lounge was perfect, downstairs lobby restrooms were clean, and the bar outside of the lobby was really nice as well. Great job Renaissance.

I will be honest. This hotel is a tough review for me because there was a lot of good but a few minor things I didn't love. Let's start with the good. We flew in at 7 am. Normally we drop our bags off and explore. I was ridiculously tired and wanted to lay down so I was very happy when we arrived and they let us check in early. It really really really made my day. They also gave us courtesy garret popcorn which was really delightful. The lobby was gorgeous and the bar area was so cozy and cute. The room however was pretty average. Nothing wrong with it though. It was clean and comfortable. The view we had of the Chicago theatre was everything!!!! The bar in the lobby was pretty accommodating and was pretty lively which made for a good time. Our proximity to all the activities downtown could not be beat. We walked pretty much everywhere. My only plight was that they have what's called a travel or resort fee of some sort of $25 per day that you must use or lose. I was not upset about the fee. I was however upset about them not explaining it properly. It felt like they wanted you to lose it kind of by being very sketch about it being charged daily and when it needed to be used by. I'm juts not a fan of people taking extra money for basically nothing and then forcing me to buy something I don't necessarily need. It's just another added fee to get more money out of an already paying customer. I also understand that that's just the world we live in now. They do because they can. Otherwise the stay was great. I didn't take very many pictures because every time I hit the lobby I couldn't feel my hands. Beautiful hotel though.

THEFT WITHIN THE ROOM AT THIS HOTEL! Had a ring stolen from the room when i had requested the room NOT be serviced, had text confirmation it would not be serviced, called the front desk for the room NOT To be serviced and returned to the room to find my ring gone. Of course the housekeeper had no recollection of ever seeing a ring and security won't cover the claim as they are not liable for theft based on Chicago law. Regardless of the fact this is unlawful entry into a hotel room where you are not checked out. Please don't stay at the Renaissance in Downtown Chicago on W. Wacker Drive. They are thieves and your personal property is not safe here. Sorry to say this as I have been a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member for 30 years that some people are criminals in their employ.

Great option for a quick work trip. Centrally located with a lot of options in walking by distance. They room service was ok as well - would recommend things from their anytime menu versus dinner, etc The price was definitely on the pricier side, comparable to JW and Westin without the usual amenities you see at those properties. Overall would recommend for the location and if you are coming for a work trip

This place is nice, but not $500 a night nice. Im glad I was just visiting my friend who was staying there on her rewards points. Despite being remarkably busy, they only had one elevator out of 6 working. Very slow to get up and down. The pool is ok but nothing too exciting. It's sort of small and pretty loud. There were a couple kids and then a birthday party for some rowdy lady when we tried getting in a swim. The locker room is small but very nice. The one shower is literally the size of a bathroom itself. I couldn't figure out how to lock the lockers, and there was no attendant on duty. The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Had a FANTASTIC view of the river and the terrace bar on the 3rd floor. Didn't get to check that out, though, because there was a 30 min wait, and we were exhausted. The restaurant on the first floor has a limited but high profile ($$$) menu. The brisket taquitos were tasty. The steak was very tender and delicious. The ambiance is swanky and dim at night, hard to see. The chairs are pretty but not very fat friendly for sturdiness. Comfortable but not strong. The service was swift and friendly enough but not overly friendly. Far better than the desk staff who seemed kind of snooty, in my opinion.

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. I loved all the art in the lobby. My room was nice and had a great view, but I couldn't get the air to work, so I was warm at night. I was disappointed because they were serving a punch in the lobby, but when we came back down after dropping off our bags, it was gone. They should've posted the full time it was offered. Lots of cool places to sit in the lobby and got a good drink at the bar.

Screwed up my upgraded room request. Rude staff. Shower would not get above slightly warm. Leaked all over the floor. Used ti be a great place. Stay at LondonHouse. MUCH better.

Decent hotel in the BEST location! We arrived very early in the morning (2am) for a week long stay during Lollapalooza. The front desk agent was very friendly and made a minimal effort to update our room, but apparently none were available. I also think she was half asleep (understandably) and we were slightly confused when we got our room number on the 5th floor. The 5th floor is I believe the lowest out of the 28 floors. Our room was facing the opposite direction of the river and out window we had a "wonderful" view of the rock covered roof of the lower part of the hotel. It's hard to describe, but the first 4 stories go out farther than the rest of the hotel so if you are facing the back of the hotel and look down, you will see the roof of the 4th story. Seeing as we were staying for an entire week, this view was a pretty big let down, and really a lack of forethought by the hotel staff. Since I could tell that this hotel is taken up by a lot of businesses on a work trip, I can assume we were one of the longest staying/highest paying customers for that week. Why would you put us in possibly one of the crappiest rooms? Since it was 2:30 am at this point it would have to wait till morning. Next morning we request a different room, and to our dismay are charged an extra $40 for the next 6 nights for a better room. I guess you just have to be lucky and get that room the first time and you won't have to pay the extra money? Super silly, but okay. We received a room on the 11th floor with an unreal view that made it 100x worth it. Another downside was that the pillows are practically air, and the duvet covered blanket doesn't have ties so the blanket shifts around, which was quite annoying by day 4. There are 6 elevators, but only 3 of them seemed to be working. There were a few times we waited an oddly long time to get on an elevator. They have pretty great food and fast room service. But the location of this hotel might be the best there is. Only a 12 minute walk to Lollapalooza, and you get to avoid all the craziness around the hotels that are directly across from millennium and grant park. Tip: Request a river side view when you book. Bring your own pillow if possible. Do not expect a very nice hotel just because of the price. Have a cocktail at the rooftop bar one of the nights if you are there long enough. Enjoy beautiful Chicago!!

This was a lovely hotel! I booked my trip on a deal a while ago, so I didn't pay the $500 price tag. I'm not sure if I would've justified $500 a night to myself, so I took off a star. The views were stunning and the location was wonderful for what we needed. It was clean and easy to check in/out.

The customer service of this hotel doesn't exist or is not important to them. I stayed at the hotel not by my own choice AA cancelled my flight and sent me to t He renaissance Chicago to spend the night. The at the reception of the hotel the ask for a credit card for a security deposit. Weeks later I found out that I was charged to my credit card and I had called several times to get an explanation for the charges and I had no response, explanation or call back. Please do not stay in this Hotel!!!! This place would steal your money

I think this is my favorite marriott branded hotel in Chicago. I love that there is a lounge, a nice rooftop option, spacious rooms and a decent gym plus a pool option. I would say sometimes the service is slow but just typical hotel problems.

Really beautiful hotel with gorgeous views. I enjoyed a quiet night in before going to work. I wasn't able to hear a lot of noise outside the room which is great because I can't stand very thin walls. They had a big bar downstairs, but I didn't have time for a drink. I stayed at a few hotels nearby and this was one of my favorites.

I stayed at this Renaissance recently and overall it was a perfectly fine hotel, but definitely felt like it was lacking in some ways. Traveling and staying at a hotel during these times is tricky, and I completely understand certain amenities not being available so trying to be as subjective as possible. The hotel lobby I believe is a recent remodel and looked great. I checked in easily. I was not able to get a status upgrade because of the capacity of the hotel, but was moved to a higher floor. My view was of the hotel next door which had its own set of entertainment, but still, to views were nice was from the 23rd floor that I was on. One of the annoyances of the hotel is the elevator. Part of it is COVID because only four can be in an elevator at once, but because there is a restaurant/bar that's a hotspot on the 3rd floor. A lot of people are waiting around to get there causing back up, which as a guest is an annoyance. The room itself was nice. For a renaissance, I thought the room decor was a little boring, but again, not terrible. The couch in the room was comfortable as was the bed. Shower pressure was just okay, and the beauty products were nice. The area outside was so noisy. You could hear car noise, sirens, whistles, everything. No sound escaped my ears. That was something I was really surprised about. You sort of get used to it, but it's always there, especially later in the evening/night. Due to coronavirus there is no valet. Parking is self parking with no and out privileges. Parking overnight typically at the hotel is $79 so I'm not sure which is a better deal? Check out was a breeze when I left and they emailed my receipt. I liked the stay there. It's got a great location. It was clean. Overall it was perfectly fine.

Stayed here with family. Great hotel and excellent service. Cannot beat the location as you can practically walk to anywhere from here. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous hotel! Really cool lobby, nice bar. The room service food was also excellent, which was a nice surprise. Get the torta it's delicious.

My friend and I booked a long weekend in Chicago. I've been a handful of times and tried other hotels, but I really did like this one. The lobby is great with plenty of seating, a nice bar, and more formal seating off to the side. Our room was clean and had a fantastic river view. It is definitely worth the extra bump in price. We ate breakfast at the lobby bar, had drinks midday, and ate dinner one night in the lobby's seated area. Everything was had was tasty! There is another bar/eatery area on the third floor that we also tried out. If you're planning on staying here and checking out this area, know that it does not have assigned seating. You get on a wait list to go into the area and then seating is first-come, first-serve. We were there four nights and only visited once. I also think it was a bit on the pricey side. My friend and I just got one drink each and the tab was about $50. The location couldn't have been better for us. It was right near the train stop so we took the blue line from the airport to there and it just had to walk two blocks. We were able to cross the river and have the stop for the river tour a block away. The circular buildings across from us were fun to look at when we were just having down time in our room. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel, and I would stay here on future visits to Chicago!

My stay here is my worst experience staying in a Marriott property. If you think you would pamper yourself and book a higher end hotel while visiting Chicago DT, don't book here! You would thank me! This hotel is full of wedding parties, party boys and girls, who have no regard of other guests or have the knowledge of a hotel is a public place. They would party, scream and slam doors late into the night and the next a.m. What makes it worse is, the hotel wall and doors are terribly thin, the doors between rooms have no sound proofing function. We stayed next to a group of drinking whooping girls. Imagine if you stay next to some passionate couple? Entertainment all night long? We did try and call down to reception and complained about the noise. They said they would send security. It never came. Whooping girls finally got tired around 2 am. We were lucky. Stay away from this hotel if you value peace and quiet and quality sleep. I talked to the receptionist while requesting to change room. He was accommodating but his attitude was, "yeah, can't guarantee a quiet room, all depends on who is staying next to you". It is disheartening that a lot of people would just check manners out the door when spending a bit more money, thinking they are in a trendy place. Thumbs down to humanity, and the paper thin doors and walls in this hotel.

Didn't get the room I booked, apparently was lied to by staff. Then they over charge, double charge fees and taxes when you call management they pull the "sorry you feel that way" card when trying to get them to fix their mathematical mistakes on your bill. Word of advice you get the same view next door with better customer service*

I don't understand how this is a 4-star hotel. I actually wish we had stayed at the 3-star Hampton Inn 2 blocks away because it appears to have identical rooms to this hotel, is priced lower, and includes complimentary breakfast and hot chocolate. Problems experienced over Labor Day weekend here: - The pool has been out of service for the last 5 days. Had the hotel notified us of this before we arrived (an email would have sufficed), I would have cancelled our reservation and booked elsewhere because our plan was to enjoy it nightly after long, hot days outside. When you first walk into the hotel, the lobby befits a 4-star hotel. You can see they spent all their money there because once you get up to the rooms, they are basic: - The phone chargers in our room are broken. - The plug outlets for electronics are not bedside. - We're staying here for multiple nights, but were given only enough toiletries & towels for 1 night. - No bathrobes, slippers, water bottles or upgraded toiletries, which 4-star hotels like the W Hotels always offer. I am annoyed to say the least. If they had labeled and priced this as a 3-star hotel, this experience would have been totally fine. Given that this is supposedly a 4-star hotel, however, the hotel does not live up to industry expectations.

"Spacious work desks" from website description are gone. Working from an oval cocktail height table sitting in a wingback chair just does not work. Not a hotel for business travelers. "Take in panoramic views of downtown Chicago or the river from many of our rooms and suites before you enjoy a restful night's sleep in Illinois. All of our hotel accommodations boast contemporary amenities, including flat-screen TVs, high-speed Wi-Fi, spacious work desks, comfortable beds and larger-than-average bathrooms."

I really liked this hotel for many reasons. The plus def out way the minuses. Pros: The rooms are lovely. Great views. Super clean. Everything you need. Housekeepers are wonderful. Cons: The pillows are terrible! Worst of any Marriott brand I've ever stayed at. Makes it very hard to sleep. The valets/bellmen stood and chatted with one another and watched me as I struggled with the door once while carrying 3 dozen donuts and another time while I had my suitcase. Thanks for the help. Not. Fri. night after room service was closed, there was no way to get any food in the hotel. The bars were out of food. How does this happen? A huge hotel in the center of downtown Chicago has run out of food? I guess if I could ask them to fix one thing, it would be the pillows. What I need most from my hotel room is to be able to sleep.

This is a beautiful hotel in downtown Chicago. The minute you walk into lobby you feel relaxed. It's wide opened with high ceiling. The thing we love love love most is that unique scent (fragrance) that filled the air. Service from front desk, to breakfast area, to room cleaning, ... is world-class. Our room had a beautiful view of the street and the river. The room is large enough for three pp. Pillows, sheets, and towels are of top quality. The bathroom is all white, clean, and spacious. This is a great hotel to stay for business or pleasure. It's a keeper.

If you're planning to book your wedding block here. Don't. I've been a part of two wedding parties here and they refuse to live up to their sales pitch each time. The hotel and restaurants will refuse to accommodate your wedding party, regardless of how many. The two times I've been here have been with blocks accommodating over 125 people. Yet the bar manager(s) fail to be interested in earning money and have closed the bar down before their posted hours and refuse to care about anyone wanting to spend time (or money) on the establishment. Upon the second party, we asked and made sure this wouldn't be an issue and was reassured that for large parties the hotel is aware and adapts to make sure everyone has a good time. So far from true. Giving it two stars because the view is nice. But there are better hotels in the area that I'm assuming will be more considerate.

Elegant hotel in a great location. Convoy Elite lounge is available there as well, but they could do a better job of providing a variety of meats though... They have all pork days or all beef days, (with some people unable to eat one or the other). The housekeeping staff is excellent! Would certainly be a top choice for Marriott hotels in the area.

I loved the view of downtown and the river from my hotel room. The location is great too right across the river from major shopping area.

This was quite disappointing from the get go. We arrived at 3:45P after checking in online. Usually as a Marriott Gold member, the hotel makes an effort to accommodate my early checkin request. What was really frustrating is that the room was not even ready by 4P, their standard checkin time. This was doubly annoying because we had driven from Columbus (a 6 hour drive). There were no Marriott bonvoy lines for checkin. There was only one person at the counter (see picture) even when the lines were quite long so checking on the status of the room was painful. Finally, the room was ready well after 5P. The room itself was quite large and well appointed for the most part. However, they have an arcane heating/cooling system so that on unexpectedly warm winter days the room gets very hot (there is no AC to lower the temperature and hot air was blowing in the room even when I had turned down the temperature to 65F). The safe was not working and I had to call them to fix it, which they did promptly. Overall disappointing experience.

Staff was very helpful in trying to get my Bonvoy membership added to the reservation. The gal went above and beyond in getting it accomplished. In addition, when checking in at 4pm, I was placed in an upper level room with a great view, and I didn't even ask! Thank you!
