Renaissance Montréal Downtown Hotel

"Start us off with an overview. You can't get more central than this glass hotel tower, which is located at one of the busiest crossroads in downtown Montreal. The business of the street pales as soon as you enter the multicolored, multi-nook lobby, though, where staff is waiting to make you feel welcome and relaxed. It's like walking into a house party where the host is particularly gracious. Speaking of which: On party nights, there's a DJ booth that seems to float above the lobby. So who's at this house party?Locals having after-work drinks at the bar, plus out-of-town families. How are the rooms? The artsy vibe continues from the lobby into the rooms, which have hand-painted faces on the walls and ceiling and furniture, and light fixtures designed by Montrealers. Pops of color punctuate a basic palette of gray, black, and white, beds are next-level comfortable, and the space remains quiet, no matter what festivities happen to be taking place in the common spaces down below. Are there any additional details that add to your stay?Turn-down service includes a little maple-sugar candy—nice local touch—and the TV includes Netflix. What about the food options? The Renaissance has limited dining options: EAST serves pan-Asian dishes (dim sum, Thai beef salad, Indonesian curry), and a rooftop bar has a great menu of bistro snacks (lobster grilled cheese, Montreal smoked meat sandwich, classic beef tartare). But the hotel also offers delivery from local restaurants—a fun, apartment-like touch. You're right in the thick of it, so you can order anything from pizza and Lebanese to sushi and Korean barbecue—right to your room. Did you have a favorite corner of the hotel? The rooftop plunge pool is perfect on a hot summer night; especially with a drink from AIR, the bar, in hand. Okay, so give us the final take: What's so good about the Renaissance?A tall tower on a busy downtown corner, the Renaissance has an open-concept lobby with local art and a sky-high DJ booth. Any night of the week, it’s an atmospheric place to hang out and enjoy a pint of a glass of bubbly; you can also ride the elevator up to AIR, the rooftop terrace with a full bar, a bistro kitchen, a plunge pool, and sweeping views of Downtown." - Isa Tousignant

Montreal’s Hidden Gems: Best Bars, Restaurants, Shops, and Parks | Eater

"Steps away from the city’s famous Saint-Catherine Street, Bell Centre, and Underground City, the Renaissance Montreal Downtown Hotel is a balance of Montreal’s history and its design-driven future. Explore the beauty of Old Montreal by day with its trendy shops and cobblestone streets, then head back at night for cocktails atop the hotel’s rooftop terrace — the only rooftop bar in all of downtown — before an Asian-accented dinner at East. Rooms are decked out with marble-topped nightstands, original artwork, and sleek design elements like modular couches and modern desks." - Vox Creative

Terrible customer service from reception and management. Stayed one night. Room was spacious, nicely decorated but beds were just about adequate - not comfortable. Air con very loud. My main complaint is that when I asked if I could stay another 1 or 2h beyond my Bonvoy membership 2pm late checkout, I was offered to pay as much than for the whole stay! I didn’t appreciate this and hurried out of the room not to incur steep dishonest charges instead of taking a power nap before driving back to New York. As I rushed out I forgot my toiletries in the bathroom - circa 300$ of perfume and skin products. Obviously I never heard back from hotel and was never offered to pay for shipping back home of my belongings.

The stay overall was good. However, the room service was awful. We had ordered breakfast at 10am. At 10.45am, the restaurant said they never received the order. At 11.30am, the front desk ans the restaurant said they had no idea what happened. By noon, we realized we are never getting our breakfast and had to head out with hungry kids in tow. They did give us a complementary breakfast in the restaurant for the next day. While the food was good, we never got cutlery or water for most of our time eating there. Overall, I wouldn’t mind staying there because of the location. NEVER eating there though

The hotel property was lovely. Modern and clean. Easy access to the business area, great access to McGill, and not too far from the Old Port.||Unfortunately, from the outset, service was subpar. When we pulled into the valet zone, there was never an offer to valet the car. Front desk staff was brusque, at best. They never sent someone to help with the pull out bed. Service in the restaurant for breakfast was generally poor and slow. When our room was clean, it was obvious that it hadn't been fully vacuumed (there were still crumbs on the floor).||While nothing was horrendous, nothing was good.

This is a review of the rooftops patio. I was there on a Saturday at lunch with my daughter, we were waited on but Pierre and we had the best time! He gave us flawless service. He chilled the wine, he was attentive but not too much. I highly recommend.

Recently stayed a couple of nights at the Renaissance Montreal Downtown Hotel with my GF. Our stay was excellent. This hotel is about a 25 minute Uber ride from the airport and is perfectly located in downtown Montreal. It is a short 25 minute walk to Old Town, a less than 10 minute walk to the Bell Centre, and perfectly located near shopping and many restaurants/pubs. Our king room was large and clean with a very comfortable bed and nice pillows. The Renaissance also has a nice bar and restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast, and we also found the entire hotel staff to be accommodating and helpful. We also enjoyed the gym for a good morning workout. Upon a return to Montreal, I would definitely stay at the Renaissance again. Great stay!

We booked a special anniversary trip from Chicago to Montreal (July 17–20, 2025), with all bookings made via Priceline. The hotel stay was at Renaissance by Marriott Montreal Downtown, fully prepaid.||Due to severe weather in Chicago, my return flight from a business trip on July 16 was canceled. I’ve been stuck in New York since, unable to return to Chicago or make our trip to Montreal. We informed both Priceline and Marriott in advance and provided documentation of the airline cancellation.||Both parties refused to refund or even offer a credit for the $700 booking — despite the fact that the hotel stay was never used, and circumstances were entirely out of our control.||I’m a Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite member and a VIP Gold member with Priceline, having booked exclusively with them for years. That status meant absolutely nothing in this situation. No flexibility, no customer-first thinking — just a flat "no" from both companies.||Very disappointed by both Marriott and Priceline. This wasn’t just about a hotel room — it was about a missed memory, and they showed no empathy or accountability.||Never again.

This is a real 4 star hotel with large rooms and a great location in Montreal downtown. Very close to the shipping centers and beautiful Philips Square. Also, there are tens of cafes and restaurants nearby that give you a wide range of opportunities to have lunch, dinner and enjoy a coffee in the afternoon.

Negatives: • Noisy air conditioning: There was no way to set it to a quiet or night mode. The fan ran loudly even on the lowest setting, which made sleep difficult. • No extra toilet paper provided: After using the initial roll, it wasn’t automatically replaced — a basic oversight. • No extra blanket available: Not in the closet or on request, which was surprising for a 4-star hotel. • Pillows were underwhelming: Despite having five on the bed, none were particularly comfortable. • Window couldn’t be opened: because I did not want to run the noisy airco, The room felt stuffy at times, and the inability to get fresh air was frustrating at night. • No minibar or fridge: This felt like a major omission for a hotel claiming four stars. • Power outlets poorly placed: No sockets near the bed that could charge a laptop, only a USB-B port (no USB-C), and one awkwardly placed outlet that required sticking your head behind furniture. ⸻ Conclusion: While the location and staff were definite highlights, too many basic amenities were either missing or poorly executed. The lack of comfort and functionality — particularly for sleep and simple conveniences — made it hard to enjoy the stay. With some thoughtful improvements, this hotel could live up to its rating, but as it stands, I wouldn’t return.

Yelp
I've tried all the downtown Marriott hotels and Renaissance definitely wins! The location is great and the property is contemporary and cool. The lobby is small and hipster with very nice lounge areas. Loud music keeps the spirit high during the evenings. The lobby also hosts a restaurant, East which gets busy in the evenings. Breakfast is served here in the mornings and they have an Asian menu for lunch and dinner. A nice collection of wines and a full bar is a big attraction. Friendly staff who are willinng to help. Personalized service is a clear winner. The rooms are spacious and modern. The gym is in the basement 2 and is fully equipped. The only feedback for the hotel is consistency in the restaurant for breakfast. What you get charged for depends on who is waiting your table. Overall a great stay at this property. This will be my go to hotel when in Montreal for sure. Pricing : Downtown hotels are always expensive and this property is no exception but comparable to other hotels. The service and facilities are worth the money you pay.

Yelp
Comfortable downtown hotel. The location is walking distance to Old Montreal and several other neighborhoods. There is no lounge, but the restaurant breakfast is sufficient. There is no breakfast buffet, the continental breakfast is brought to your seat. The service is attentive throughout the hotel: restaurant, valet and front desk.

Yelp
The prestige of the Marriott Renaissance fell short of our expectations in an unimaginable way. We found ourselves victims of an unfortunate incident - our car was stolen from the hotel's valet parking. The incident itself was shocking, but the response from the management was even more unsettling. Despite our predicament, we were met with a lack of empathy and support. The unresponsiveness of the hotel management left us stranded, grappling with not only the loss of our vehicle, but also the cost of a rental car to journey back home. The Marriott Renaissance has always been celebrated for its service quality, making this experience all the more disappointing. Regrettably, our pleas for aid were met with silence. The communication gap from the management team has soured our experience and challenged our faith in the brand. Sharing our experience is not about spreading negativity, it's about ensuring fellow travelers are informed and can make empowered decisions. Here's to hoping that the Marriott Renaissance takes this feedback on board and implements measures to prevent such incidents from reoccurring. If you're considering a stay, we would advise you to weigh your options carefully.

Yelp
We stayed here for 5 nights, and, over all, it was a great experience. The room was spacious, especially the bathroom. There wasn't much in the way of storage space in the room, but we generally live out of a suitcase anyway. At least there was a place to hang stuff. Some of the more modern hotels we've stayed at have a couple of pegs in the wall that they call a closet. It is also not a great place if you're traveling for business. The room only had 2 available outlets and a few USB ports. So charging devices was a game of musical outlets. Also, the desk is cramped and the black, glass topped finish, while chic, makes your mouse virtually worthless. The bathroom was also a win, for the most part. It was roomy and the sink had a lot of space for multiple people's toiletries. Towels were so-so, but I've come to expect that in hotels. The only real complaint about the bathroom is the lack of storage space in the shower -- one small soap dish. No place to put shampoo/other product containers without them getting soapy, and a can't imagine a family trying to use this space. The common areas were nice enough, but I don't generally spend a lot of time in the lobby, so I don't really care. The desk staff were unfailingly courteous and cheerful. My big complaint about the common areas was the lighting in the hallways. The lighting was so dim that I couldn't read the room numbers without turning on my phone's flashlight. I've been binge watching Criminal Minds. Every time I got off the elevator, I couldn't help but think there was a serial killer around every corner. This was not my first choice of hotels. I was originally looking for something in a quainter part of town. But we were traveling with our 2 adult kids. So we needed a hotel with a room with 2 beds for them, and that kept us out of the cooler areas of the city. All in all, it was a good choice. Lots of great restaurants in the area BUT NOT AT THE RENAISSANCE. Stay away from the food service, but that's a separate review.

Yelp
We stayed at the Renaissance Montreal Downtown for a long weekend trip, and had a great experience! The lobby is very small, but so cute, and it's actually a really great place to hangout! They hallways and rooms are extremely quiet, we never once heard another person during our stay. The Air rooftop bar was beautiful, and is fun for either day or night!! The nightly maple candies and bilingual weather cards left by our bed was a nice touch as well. We did have some issues with the fridge not getting cold and they immediately sent someone who fixed the issue while we went out for the night. It's a convenient spot downtown, easy to walk to many places, and very easy to pick up a ride share from. We were a little disappointed that for such a nice hotel, they didn't have an M club lounge, but they were happy to compensate us with extra points. The valet drivers were extremely rude, and if you drive a manual, beware of how hard they'll yank your brake, and you better have hulk strength to release it! The two times we picked it up, the valet attendants didn't speak to us, or acknowledge our thank yous, but it's not a big deal. Pros: Great bar, comfy beds, spacious suite and nice in-room ammenities Cons: No M Club lounge, very small pool, rude valet

Yelp
My home away from home the last two nights in Montreal was Renaissance Montreal Downtown Hotel. The bed was comfy! There was a mini fridge with refreshments (for a charge), coffee maker, safe, etc. WIFI was complimentary and speedy. I didn't have my room serviced but every time I came back to my room it smelled nice ... maybe they pump scent in through the vents? There is a restaurant in the lobby and lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. The train station is just a few minutes away and Mont Royal and Old Montreal are walkable.

Yelp
This is our first time but not the last time staying in Renaissance Montreal Downtown. Love the decor. Modern, Chic but with Character. Room was well appointed with so many nice amenities! Nespresso machine to make a shot of espresso to start the day. Bose wifi speaker to stream my Spotify playlist. Aveda Rosemary Mint toiletries relax the body and the mind after a long day of eating. Location is convenient as it is close to Eaton Centre, Convention Centre and Metro Station. If you are bar hopping or food crawling downtown Montreal, this is a perfect location. If you love the small boutique hotel vibe, you will enjoy your stay at Renaissance! Nightly turn service with a Maple Syrup Candy left at your bedside?! Only valet parking available if you are driving. You can park at the side with 15 minute parking for hotel guests to unload your luggage. Rooftop swimming pool. I guess I need to come back when the weather is warmer.

Yelp
Marriott is clearly at the top of its game at this pristine location downtown Montreal. I had the pleasure of staying there a whole week and it was totally worth it. Every square inch of this hotel included charm and character. You are greeted by a warm and friendly reception. The bar and restaurant staff are friendly and informative. The rooms by far are laid out nicely. Great for long stays, families, and guest. The onsite restaurant, while asian-fushion, offered a variety culinary treats and the bar, of course, had a decent selection of Bourbon. I did not have a chance to workout but the gym is nice. Will definitely visit again.

Yelp
Spacious room, large bathroom, great housekeeping, great front desk and valet staff, and nice amenities. Bring your own hair dryer; the ones here are weak. Bring a flashlight, too. We have stayed in a few of these Renaissance Hotels recently redone now, and while some call it chic, I call it too cool for school. In an effort to be trendy and hip, the overall effect can be a bit much and always dark. I'm going to attach some photos of the hallway leading up to my door. My husband, myself and our 12-year-old son we're all squinting to make sure we had the right room. The entire entryway once inside the room is dark. The rooftop deck, called Air, has potential, but the staff was not friendly in the slightest. Europop music plays loudly, even during the day. The pool is just weird, bordering on creepy. It is the size of two hot tubs, shoved in a corner of the bar, for the sole purpose of letting people be seen in their swimsuits. You certainly cannot swim in it, but over your meal you can watch the preening and prancing mating rituals, which makes for good people watching. This hotel is great for the young set who want to be seen and at a scene. It's fine for the rest of us too, but be prepared to feel like the nerd or chaperone at the high school dance, and remember that a headlamp would most definitely be helpful.

Yelp
The Renaissance hotel is one of Montréal's trendiest hotels. The seating areas inside and outside bring back a certain boho-chic vibe that hasn't been seen a lot in Montréal hotels these days. On the very last floor of this hotel, you will find a beautiful rooftop bar with a very cosy seating area, mostly decorated with plants and red couches. The bar is in the very middle and the seating area extends to the left and to the right with large transparent windows in order to get a nice glimpse of the view. They also have another floor you can get to from the bar with a nice staircase and this floor is just big white couches, comfortable seating and also a beautiful view. Our server was extremely nice (I don't remember her name since she was wearing another name tag, but I believe it started with an L), kept coming back to make sure everything was alright. We ordered the blue sangria pitcher. The first one wasn't too rich in alcohol, but when we asked her for more she added more (also removed some ice from it), no complaints and no rude comment. She also told us a little bit about the place and the staff, very friendly and definitely knowledgeable. As for food, I ordered fries and the ahi tuna mini burger. The burger is well named, it's MINI, do not expect it to fill you up, but it was quite delicious, the fries and the spicy garlic mayo as well. Overall, the place is nice, the prices are a bit up there, but it is to be expected in a nice hotel like Renaissance. Definitely would recommend if you're looking for a rooftop terrasse in Montréal that doesn't get too crowded.

Yelp
Some things about my stay were great and others were meh. The great: -In a very busy and bustling area of downtown Montreal. Lots of shopping, bars and eateries nearby. I'd imagine that over summer you could get lost walking around and exploring the area. Oh, and speaking of summer months the rooftop pool looked hella swanky. I'll definitely have to come back for that. -Our room was very spacious. We actually had two rooms - a living room and a bedroom. Two tvs, lots of couches and plenty of room to spread out was super luxe. -Friendly front desk service and valet staff. -Cupcakes waiting for us in our room. Awww. The meh: -Room was suuuuper cold and we had no access to the thermostat. Montreal winters are frigid, and it would have been nice to blast the heat. -The lighting in the room was very poor. It was literally hard to see in front of my face at night with all of the lights on! -Shower water didn't get too warm. -No platinum member lounge. You can opt to have points credited to your account or free breakfast, but sometimes it is nice to have the lounge access for a drink or snack. -35 dollars a day for parking is hefty. But I guess that's just city life. I'd stay here again without hesitation, but would very much so hope for a warmer and better lit room to turn this into a 4/5 star experience!

Yelp
There wasn't a thing we didn't like about our 5 nights here. The hotel has a nice vibe, is ultra clean and the rooms are modern yet elegant. I loved the spacious shower. Beds are VERY comfortable, the amenities are great and we enjoyed the rooftop restaurant too. Breakfast was included for us, and was very good. Plenty of great choices, and well prepared. The manager brought us over a couple of Americano coffees one morning, and they were superb. Great location, close to a lot of things, and a very helpful concierge service to help book nearby restaurants and other sights. Thank you Julien for your help. With around 70 nights a year on the road, this hotel was in the top ... 3. Maybe even the best. Well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Easily one of the best hotels that I have ever been in. Great service, clean and beautiful room. Very artsy and cool. Pretty good air quality . Most importantly it was a great comfortable bed, sheets pillow-cases I barely wanted to get out of bed in the morning. I wish I could have brought the bed home with me! The shower head was one of my favorites as well, gentle and nice that came from directly above. Highly recommend, I hope I can return and try the rooftop pool in the summer!

Yelp
To start...I'm very happy with this property. Great location, attentive front desk staff and well maintained property. There are just a few things that prevent it from being a 5 star property. It's not a question of cost either. There are little differences the housekeeping staff can do that 5 star properties do that others don't...at no additional expense. Examples in the photographs. Each was taken on day #2 an hour after housekeeping left.

Yelp
This hotel is fantastque!!!! The service has been excellent and we have been very comfortable here. The hotel location is near many great food establishments as well as many areas to shop including more than one indoor mall, outdoor shopping, and arts and theater. The Renaissance Marriott has a tasty hotel breakfast available on the first floor that is also a restaurant and bar in the evenings. The hotel offers wifi to guests which is helpful when visiting. The bathrobes provided in the room are comfortable and soft. Overall this is definitely an enjoyable hotel stay which much to explore in the area here in Montreal. The lobby has comfortable seating including a trendy swing and couches. For an additional fee, the hotel offers car valet service at $35 per night.

Yelp
It's a nice stylish hotel in down town Toronto. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it is a Marriott property. I like the way how the rooms are smartly set up inspite of being a tad small.

Yelp
Friends and I had a terrific time at this modern hotel. Our stay included complimentary breakfast which was very convenient and delicious. The hotel was nearby restaurants/bars/observatory and everything was pretty much walking distance. Plenty of towels, double in shampoo/lotion/body wash. One of the pillows was smelly so had to get that replaced. Elevator was always available (unlike vegas where it'll take so long). I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel located just off of Rue St. Catherine (downtown shopping district). They allow earlier check-ins, based on availability. To stay here is a little on the high side, price wise (as Renaissance hotels usually are). The price can be easily be negated by things like Expedia points. There's not really any hotel noise - most of it is negated by the soundproofing in between units; you do hear a bit of street noise from time to time (coming from the windows) depending on what floor where you're staying on. Valet takes a little while to get the car (not too sure where the cars are located when they are valet parked). The price is $35/night, with unlimited in/out privileges, which is a bargain compared to other hotels in the local area.

Yelp
A tale of two spaces...luxury and not The Renaissance is a new hotel in downtown Montreal offering a hip, post-modern take on the Marriott brand. The public spaces are beyond fabulous with swings in the lobby, fun art on the walls, and an open 'library' worth spending some time in. East - the hotel's bar/restaurant - is truly a delight and provided one of the best meals I've ever had in Montreal. The staff were wonderful, there is an evening turndown service, and there was a nice fluffy robe and a Nespresso coffee maker in the room. And the location can't be beat - downtown next to a plethora of great restaurants, bars, shops, and museums (and Montreal's underground city and the Metro). But the problem - the elephant in the room so to speak - is that aside from the bed the rooms are rather awful. Start with the fact that there is no desk - only an approximately 18" x 30" extension of the TV console that already has a desk lamp, the phone, and (worst of all) a Bose speaker glued in place competing for space. I was barely able to make enough room for my little 13" portable and I don't think you could fit a full size laptop. The chair - a 'desk chair' only in the loosest sense - was hard and uncomfortable as was the 'chaise lounge' along the window. A business traveler would find working in the room more or less impossible. Part of the problem is that I feel mislead into expecting something rather different. I know that tastes differ but I can't reconcile the phrase "luxury boutique hotel" with rooms that resemble nothing so much as the aspirational dorm rooms/1st apartments you see mocked up in your local big box furniture/design store. Another disappointment was the 'pool' - which turned out to be a rooftop plunge pool only open during Montreal's short summer. Now I very much enjoyed the Marriott rooftop pool in my recent stay in Miami Beach...but in Montreal I was more hoping for an indoor pool with a nice hot spa. That there are no tubs in the rooms made this lack particularly annoying. Lastly, the 'security theater' elevators which prevent guests from visiting friends, family, and co-workers on other floors were another annoying touch. In short, for guests who are looking for nothing more than a bed and a great place to hang out this hotel is 5-star perfection. But for the business traveler or a family wanting a pool for the kids a 1-star avoid at all costs. And so the 3-star A-OK review.

Yelp
Had been wanting to check out the rooftop bar for a while. Finally went with some friends. First things first, I really liked their rooftop bar. The pictures don't do justice to it. The view is amazing and the Sangria (azure) we ordered was delicious. Great summer vibes! We also ordered their cheese platter, which was great! However, we received rude customer service by one of their staff members (not our server, but the guy cleaning the tables). We were going to order more but that incident really ruined the experience thus far; hence, we decided to just leave and asked for the bill. Five star because the manager on duty, David, was amazing! I told him what happened and he without even thinking twice, offered us drinks on the house and gave us access to the top level of the rooftop even though it was closed. He brought us their special Red Sangria (plus some shots) which was really yum!! David is the epitome of great service. The way he went about changing our negative experience to an excellent one, was impressive. How could I not give this place five stars! Shoutout to David! Keep up the great work. Because of you, the rooftop bar has new regular customers.

Yelp
One of the best hotels I have stayed at in a very long time. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful... the food was outstanding and the decor was super artsy. They even have a hip DJ in the front lobby spinning fun tunes. The only one drawback was that it attracts a younger 20 something crowd and they were really loud at night. I highly recommend stopping in for a weekend!!!

Yelp
Really nice and modern atmosphere. I had a double queen and it was more than enough space for just myself on a company trip. It's hard to beat for the rate I got. The location isn't prime and you'll have to walk a couple blocks to get to anything worth seeing. It's worth the cash IMO.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast is very good, the roof bar is great to hang out and the location is fantastic. Also, the lobby is funky a s modern with swings to boot! I would love to come back!

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my birthday and engagement to my newly fiancé. The front desk staff was just sarcastic and indifferent. After my room key was given, the front desk girl literally just stared at us. Didn't tell us to enjoy our stay. Didn't ask us the purpose of our trip, didn't even tell us where the elevators are. We just left the Hilton in Vermont where the service was just above and beyond and then coming here with that level of expectation was just disappointing and ruined to entire mood for my birthday and engagement. Very disappointed in the service. Hotel service is the bread and butter of any hotel or hospitality industry. I was so excited. Just an absolute disappointment

Rooftop terasse is AMAZING ! Take the elevator to PH and you will discover a great location for a drink or a coffee ! I wasnt able to look into the menu but i think you can also grab a bite .. Just so pleasant ! I was able to catch a small part of the fireworks not ideal location for it but ideal for a nice drink and breeze of montreal ! Same staff as East restaurant located on the ground floor of the hotel ! U wont be disappointed ! I had a good great latte ;)!

You had me at Netflix! (They have smart tv's so you can access Netflix, etc.) Lovely, lovely hotel with a great staff. The rooftop bar and room service were great. Nice location, seemed relatively close to everything. Food at East was good, but service slow and lackadaisical. There's also no where to meet for a quick business meeting between a couple of colleagues, so if you need to do that sort of thing, beware. An oddity is that they have bottles (beer and soda) in the mini-fridge, but there is no way to open them. When I asked at the front desk, they said they didn't have any bottle openers.

Yelp
Extremely friendly and personal experience - the staff is super willing to just chat and introduce the city, and actually seems happy to be working here! They gave us tons of restaurant and attraction suggestions, complete with maps and even loaned us an umbrella when we got stuck in rain! The decor is very modern, with tons of little touches that I loved - the lobby area is super cosy with two swings and tons of couches and books. It is very much catered towards the new generation, with Bose speakers in the room, Netflix compatibility on the TV and hipster decor. Might not be for everyone though - my aunt and uncle thought the room was a little dark for their taste. I'd highly recommend though - the location is also smack in the middle of all the shops, with tons of places to eat around.

Yelp
This hotel is very conveniently located near Place Ville Marie. Easy walk to great shopping and restaurants as well as the Metro. Rooms are clean, modern and well maintained. WiFi connection is always good. Front desk staff are very accommodating and friendly. The bar and restaurant are also excellent with some outstanding cocktails. I stay here often and I'm never disappointed. My only caution is it has a poor business Centre so business travelers may not be satisfied. The computers don't work well and need to be replaced so if you need to print a document you may get frustrated. No fax or scanner either. If I'm in Montreal on a business trip, I stay elsewhere, sadly, where there's good business services. Otherwise this is a great place to stay.

Yelp
My husband and I loved this place, the staff, especially Rocco and Hugo, who both went out of their ways to make us feel welcome, oriented, and serviced. They engaged us from the first moment we walked in, printed out maps, and took their time to understand our needs and desires. In the room the cute little espresso maker is totally chic and the bathroom decor ultra modern. my husband wants to copy it for our own home. I highly recommend this new hotel and I plan to return in the future, vacation time permitting. Thank you Rocco and Hugo!

Yelp
Wow...where to begin? First of all, they got the reservation for the type of room that I had a confirmation on wrong. Then anytime I wanted room service (and the choices are extremely few) I had to order if from the front desk staff - and they were always busy so I would have to hold for quite a while trying to place an order. Because of this, 4 out of 6 orders were wrong. The concierge REALLY steered me wrong with restaurants to go to and things to do. I've NEVER EVER had a problem with concierge wherever I have stayed for the past 40+ years, this was a first. The rooms are NOT big at all and just lacking in what I had expected. With so many choices of hotels in Montreal - I would choose another and highly suggest you do.

Yelp
This is a nice and centrally located hotel in downtown MTL. It is close to transit and some key points of interest in the city. The flat cab ride from the airport is $40 as well, so not too pricey as with other cities. The furnishings are definitely modern and everything still feels new here. However, in the standard King room, the workspace is small which isn't great if you need a lot of room to sprawl out and get business done, but it's manageable. Also, there is limited seating other than a chair and an awkwardly positioned bench next to the window that isn't too comfortable. The rooms are still spacious all things considered. The TV in the room is probably one of the best I've had staying in a hotel as they are smart TVs, so you can login to Netflix etc. which is sometimes more preferable than the channel lists that are offered at most hotels. The staff is courteous and were able to accommodate an early check-in for me as well. They also offered tips on things to do and see. I would recommend staying here.

Yelp
So let me start by saying how great the hotel looks inside and even inside the room. I stay at A LOT of Marriott properties and even work for one so some things have started to be expected. Customer service was great! Wandanda * was beyond exceptional and helpful when I lost my cell phone and needed to track it down at a nearby club I was at that night. The bellman (can't recall his name, but very informative, hilarious and helpful. ) Hugo was great and the bartender (Atin/Etin *) with the amazing eyes ( LOL) was very polite and helpful. I love love great customer service. Location of this property is unbeatable as well. Thank you to the staff who treated us ( Bachelor party of 7) with care and consideration. ....apologize for misspelling names*

Yelp
Chic and modern. Super friendly staff. Right across the street from the entrance to the Underground. And one block away from Eaton Center. Best location to stay at in downtown Montreal!

Yelp
Great hotel the room was very nice. They're right in the middle of downtown and there are a lot of places to eat and shop nearby. They also bring you a snack, bottle of water and candy every night. Only issue is my key stopped working several times!! This was just annoying.

Yelp
One of the finest hotels iv'e stayed in with an incredible staff. Excellent location. The Concierge Kate went out of her way to help us coordinate an itinerary and even sent cupcakes up to the room after learning it was my wife's birthday. Everyone from the front desk personnel to the bellhop was courteous with a congenial disposition. Highly recommend to anyone interested in visiting Montreal.

Yelp
We Chose this hotel because of the positive reviews and the fact that the hotel website advertised a pool. Yes they do have a pool, but it was a lounge pool through the roof top bar. Definitely not a pool for kids to swim or splash in. Front desk people are impolite. For the 3 days we were there, the valet/conciege was the only one who said good morning to us. In fact, when we came down the elevator one morning, the front desk lady turned to look at us and went right back to her computer. Not any greetings or even a nod of head. What kind of business is Renaissance in? The lobby bathrooms are disgusting. Our room was 1007. I asked housekeeping to vacuum the room. Nothing happened. The crumbs were still there when we came back. Finally, we got the bill before we left and was charged $108 for a meal at the roof bar. We never ate at the hotel. Went downstairs to correct it, asked me to go back 2 or 3 hours later. We have stayed in many Marriotts and other hotels and it's the first time we've received an incorrect restaurant charge. First time people in hospitality business are so inhospitable. Will never come back and will tell all my friends and family who's coming to Montreal for vacation or business to stay away from this hotel.

Yelp
Wonderful modern hotel with a great location! In my last visit to Montreal I stayed at the Fairmont, but I much prefer the rooms at this hotel. We got a great deal through Hotwire for a standard king room which was very spacious. The bed was extremely comfy, and the room had a little lounge couch which was a nice extra. The TVs were equipped with Netflix, and the in room nespresso maker was nice to have waking up in the morning. The shower was beautiful and spacious, and hot water was not an issue inside. The only downside to the hotel was the lobby. It was a little bit small and the restaurant didn't look too inviting. Parking was also super expensive at $35 a night. Tip: if you're here on a weekend, there are a few spots of street parking close to The Bay that offer free parking or you can find a decent spot. Luckily we were able to find one, and we left our car here for the weekend while we explored on foot. With this location, everything is so close you don't need your car to go to restaurants, shopping or anything downtown. If I can score another deal like this again, I will gladly return to this hotel.

Yelp
I had a great time staying at the Renaissance Montreal over the weekend while visiting the city. The hotel is in a commercial area between some high end shopping streets and the Old Montreal. The hotel was really pretty. The lobby was super stylish and well coordinated. Room was great. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was excellent. No complaints. We got a loft suite room that was absolutely gorgeous. The room was super stylish and the bathroom was awesome. Bed was super comfortable. Room was very quiet and soundproof and could not hear anything outside. Staff were pretty awesome at check in and giving us recommendations of places to visit and see. 'Mags' provided us with a map and some direction of where to go in the city. We got a call after check in to make sure the room was OK. We tried out the AIR bar at the rooftop of the hotel. It was pretty nice covered heated bar on the roof. We had wine and a smoked beef sandwich. The building isn't the tallest, but the rooftop was pretty cool. I am sure in the summer it is better with the little pool open and the coverings taken down. Breakfast in the lobby was really good. I had french toast and cappuccino both days. GF had eggs benedict and crepes ( which actually turned out to be mini pancakes). The bacon was really good. The breakfast here was very tasty, maybe a bit expensive, but the quality was really good. No complaints. Would stay here again the next time I visit the city.

Yelp
Really nice hotel in Montreal! I strongly recommend. Nice staff and the brunch @ the restaurant is awesome. Got an upgrade for the room and didn't regret.

Yelp
Good location - one block from the train station (Gare Centrale) and 1 block from the McGill Metro station, in the heart of downtown with plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. All Renaissance Hotels are uniquely styled and this one is no different. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient. The housekeeping was superb (room was very clean and done before noon each day) and the staff met all our requests for extra bottled water, coffee cups, and extra towels. The room was contemporary-modern and the bathroom extremely nice with a modern spacious shower (with rainfall head), spacious vanity and great water temperature/pressure. The bathroom was the best feature of the room. The main (king) room was more challenging. The was only one 24" x18" drawer in the closet with two same size shelves and no place to store your clothes other than your suitcase. Hey folks, you need a dresser! Also, there was very little counterspace (a desk with a big TV on it), and very few electrical outlets (one plug and USB port on one side of the bed, and two USB ports on the other - only other plugs were in the bathroom and near the front door). We did appreciate the Nespresso machine but lamented about the small fridge that was stocked as a minibar, so using it for our own items was difficult, at best. Wi-fi was strong but was kicked off often and had to re-sign in frequently. As a Marriott Platinum member, we are used to access to a concierge room ("Club Room"), however, there is none at this hotel. Members are given coupons for a free buffet breakfast in the restaurant (Asian in the evening - did not try). If you want to order off the regular breakfast menu, it is $5+tax extra. You get $10 off the rooftop bar one time or extra points -otherwise no evening service. The breakfast buffet is a joke. The only hot items every day were the same - scrambled eggs, bacon and tater tots. The pastries were few and there was only one type of fresh fruit (grapes). We had to supplement our breakfast with a trip to the grocery store. Service in the restaurant was not great either - which took forever to get a coffee refill. It would be better to have serve-yourself urns. Overall, the stay was acceptable but a bit disappointing given our expectations based on previous stays at other Renaissance hotels.

Yelp
This by far has been the worst experience. Checked in 2 nights ago. Was impressed by the cool vibe of the lobby and the decor. Could have lowered the volume on the music as I could not hear the girl checking me in to the hotel. Got to my room and it was on the alley side. The building across the alley is under construction and it is performed at night. Unable to get to sleep until 5am for a two hour nap. No help from the front desk. Just walked in the lobby tonight and the restaurant decides loud drums with a huge dragon to celebrate chinese new year is a good idea in the lobby of the hotel. Cool to look at, not so cool when you can hear it in your room on the 5th floor. Will never stay here again. As a business traveler, I need the room to be somewhere I can actually sleep. I am moving to another hotel.

Yelp
Mixed emotions here. The hotel staff was friendly the valet was unbelievably awesome remembered Us by name took care of us A to Z even played with our kids. However the restaurant leaves something to be desired. Had to wait at times for 20 minutes for simple eggs for breakfast when the place had no other tables seated. When my wife was alone with our kids she said she was treated poorly to the point where it was rude and the staff basically wanted her to leave.

Yelp
Wonderful night's sleep on their comfortable beds, they have smart tv's with Netflix and Nespresso machine's in every room. What a great atmosphere.

Yelp
Beautiful modern hotel with amazing staff. The front desk, valet and concierge were all amazing during our stay. Shout out to Cait, the concierge, for dealing with me the whole weekend asking questions. Rooms had nespresso machines in them which was awesome and the robes were extremely comfortable. Only thing stopping from 5 stars was the high price for valet.

Yelp
Hotels play a big role in how your vacation turns out, Renaissance ruined our first time in Canada within the first half hour. Breaking it down by category: Housekeeping: This was the worst. As soon as we unpacked we discovered multiple blood stains all over the master bed sheets and pillows. My guess: whoever changed the sheets probably had a cut of some sort and didn't realize. I can't begin to tell you how unpleasant this can be. it was too late and we were tired to pack up and switch rooms, we called Housekeeping - one person came by and took 30 minutes to switch everything out (while we waited...at 10 PM!). For this we go an apology note and a small bottle of popcorn. Popcorn makes the horror of bloodstains go away - I am sure. The Room: Spacious with separation between living and sleeping area. Minimal closet space. NO drawers anywhere, not even in nightstands! Two TVs. Netflix did not work on one, they changed the box but still not working. After that they would only fix it if we were present in the room. So we gave up on it. Coffee Machine not functional (again, would only agree to fix if we were present in the room - REALLY?). Pool: NON EXISTENT! Its a little tin tub 2 feet from the bar upstairs. Its not a pool, even though the hotel website says so, with some very misleading photos. To be able to use a real pool, concierge had to call another hotel (Bonaventure) to let us use their pool. So we have to pack up our things and walk all the way there! Concierge: Rocco is very nice and helpful - no negatives here. Location: Close to everything, you can walk to almost everywhere important within 15 minutes. A good and reputable hotel like this should make you feel like you have escaped home, but the hotel was nothing more than a nightmare we couldn't wait to escape from!

Yelp
We had a great stay and the hotel and its staff (special thanks to Ludo and Momo for going out of their way to make my family feel comfortable) exemplified the best of Montreal hospitality. Nice job & thank you!

Yelp
Took a beer on the terraces. Atmosphere was cool and relax. We overlooked the city but music volume was too high for me.

Yelp
Incredible hotel, incredible staff in the perfect location in downtown Montreal. The breakfast, whether complementary or through the restaurant, is incredible. The hotel space is trendy, funky and very cool. The room we had was very quiet, very large and very clean. Will most definitely stay on our next trip back to Montreal.

Yelp
Nice Place, Pretty good service overall I was there for 2017 Formula 1 weekend in Montreal from the 8th to the 11th, and had small issues during my stay and a larger one now that I have left. First of all, the hotel was very nice, the location excellent, and interacting with the staff was always pleasant while there. No issues with those aspects at all. The first two issues were related to housekeeping, in that after my first night, although they eventually came to clean the room (late in the afternoon) the garbage was not removed, and the shower was not cleaned. I did complain to the front desk about the garbage. The second housekeeping issue is that the hotel provides an in room nespresso machine with 4 coffee pods per day. In the fridge there is some little individual milk & creams for use with the coffee. Not once on day two or three was this replenished. The coffee was, but not the condiments. Which of course means they never even bothered to check the fridge. So, small issues, but disappointing. After checking out and returning home, I realised by the next morning that I had left a couple of articles of clothing hanging in the closet behind. I called the hotel right away that morning, and was told that they would check in to it and call me right back. No one called back. I called again mid afternoon, spoke with someone else, was told again that they would check in to it and they would call me back. No one called back. I called a 3rd time yesterday, and was told that the housekeeper had gone home for the day and that they would not know till morning if anything had been found, and of course at this point the room I had had been rented out again. So yet again, no one called, so I called again this morning, was told that they would check right away and that I would hear back in 15 or 20 minutes. That was now 6 hours ago ... and still no call back. A 5th call and I was finally able to deal with someone in Management at the hotel, and although it still took till the next day, the problem did get sorted. The items were found, but when taken from the room, they were incorrectly tagged, and as a result, difficult to find, but Catherine did finally manage to track them down, and had Kate arrange for their return to me. So hats of to these two ladies who turned around my mistake and save the day after all !! I will indeed visit again, when back in Montreal for F1 in 2018 !!
