Finally went here last night, there was nothing bad at all. A tad bit pricey, but definitely worth every bite!! We will for sure be back as there was more things we saw that we want to try. They have a base menu and then also a smaller rotating menu that changes every 2 weeks.

The food here is amazing! The vegetable soup is so gooooood! The brisket grilled cheese is out of this world. The atmosphere is great. It's such an upscale tavern feel. There's a great cocktail selection. You'll have a great time here.

We only had drinks but the bartenders were lovely. Very communicative and friendly. The entrees that we saw being delivered to people around us looked amazing. And the people seemed pleased. I personally normally would not go there simply because it is out of my price range but the menu items looked creative without being so out there that you'd be afraid to order. That is a fine line!

I enjoyed this restaurant on a Saturday for lunch with a bunch of friends and couldn't have been more impressed and pleased by the service and food. We were a group of 8 and our server, Kerensa, was absolutely wonderful! She stayed super patient (even when we were in the middle of one of our laughing fits) and she took excellent care of us offering great recommendations for both the food and drinks. Their menu is like nothing I have ever seen with so many delicious offerings that you cant get anywhere else. We started with the dip trio which included a pimento cheese dip that the ladies raved about. I'm not a pimento fan so didn't try it myself, but the look on their faces told me that if you like pimento dip, this is the way to go. We ALL decided to have the candied bacon & eggs and they were amazing! Interesting that you have to purchase them al a carte, but it was nice to just have one or two on the side of your meal which is what we opted for. Most of the ladies ordered cocktails from espresso martinis to the Kent's Honey Bee and everyone was impressed. When Kerensa told me they had a key lime pie martini with graham cracker on the rim I had to make an exception and have a cocktail myself and I'm so glad I did! It wasn't too sweet at all, perfectly flavored and balanced with tart and sweet, and I'm glad I limited myself to one...lol. For lunch I had the BLT sliders and OMG! The spicy mayo was on POINT providing the exact level of spice that I needed. I can't wait to come back and try this place again!!

It sounds like you had an incredible dining experience! The vegetable soup and brisket grilled cheese sound like delightful choices. The upscale tavern atmosphere and great cocktail selection must have added to the overall enjoyment of your visit. Do you have any other favorite dishes or drinks from their menu?

We had a great time eating here on a late Saturday night. The beer menu and late night drinks are diverse and modestly priced. The food was amazing and well seasoned. We could have picked one of each if we had the time. We will be back.

Google
Wonderful food with a little twist. We didn't even make it to the entrees, the appetizers were so filling! Staff was phenomenal. Our waiter Noah was super attentive. Can't wait to go back again. Great atmosphere. A bit loud but such a great restaurant. The managers were so friendly as well as the support staff. A definite must try! I don't remember the name of the drink but it's a twist on an old fashion and they smoke the glass on a wood plank, wow, best drink I've ever tried, I highly recommend it! Kids meals were a nice size. Honestly, I wish I could have tried everything!!!

Google
Great local watering hole. Great food. Great service. Enjoyed the evening after bellying up at the bar for a few hours and catching up with an old friend. All in all the service was great bartender was attentive in the food candidly was quite delicious.

Yelp
My gosh, this place is so unassuming. Looks like just another restaurant in a strip center but dang, this place hits hard on all the right things. Our server was Tia. She is, by far, the best server I've had in a long time. She listened to our comments and when they were out of the beer my husband had ordered, she knew the right one to bring for him to try. She was careful not to serve over or near the baby even though a high chair at the end of their long tables made it more difficult. When I took the baby to the restroom to wash him up I saw her stop real quickly and pick up food from his high chair. She was very observant without intruding. Everyone loved their food. Two of us ordered the chicken and never stopped raving about how good it was. I had the redfish. I'm not really a fish person but I'm here to say this fish was so fresh and expertly cooked that I wouldn't have guessed it was fish. Loved the rice and burre blanc sauce. My husband had the meatloaf. He really liked the bacon and onion strings in a lightly sweet tomato sauce. They had a happy hour Old Fashion that was only $7 and so delicious; perfectly balanced. We were truly impressed with how good this place was. Very cool atmosphere too; Upscale casual. I wish there was one closer to where we live but it's over an hours drive for us. Please open another location in Fort Worth!!

Yelp
We stopped in on a whim at this establishment and had a very nice dinner. Drinks were good, food were very good and well presented. Nice bar, comfortable seating, appropriate lighting and overall atmosphere was comfortable. Will return!

David S.

Yelp
A buddy of mine recommended coming here for the chicken fried steak, so the wife and I made it out this past Saturday to grab lunch. We always like grabbing an appetizer or two just to try things out. We love deviled eggs so we gave theirs a try. They were delicious!! We also had the Chili Lime Shrimp and let me tell you, that the shrimp were perfectly cooked and the sauce they had these guys setting on had a nice spice kick to them. I highly recommend them. Both appetizers came with thinly sliced jalapenos, this is Texas so yeah, we put jalapenos on everything. ;-) The ambiance is pretty cool. It feels wide open but yet if you get a booth, the walls are high enough to keep your table private. I will say this, I can see this place getting loud. We were greeted with a smile and immediately sat down. We also had a great waitress that was just super friendly and was very attentive. We will be back and for those drinks that I saw on the cocktail menu.

Gabby C.

Yelp
We stopped by this place before going to the airport and I am so happy we did. The drinks were amazing , the deviled eggs are delusions and so are the chicken wraps ! The ambiance is great and it was a nice place to relax honestly. Service was wonderful as well.

Julie T.

Yelp
Flavorful dinner dishes. Fun cocktails. Friendly service. Bar area always bustling with people. Be sure to call to make reservations as it's always crowded over the weekends.

Mark J.

Yelp
Stopped by after work to check this place out. It was very busy in the bar and patio but not so much in the dining area. The service was great and so were the cocktails. The food was just ok. The arancini were very good, the side of mac and cheese was also very nice. The crab cake was pretty bland and the prime ribeye was not good. I find it hard to believe the ribeye was prime. It was cooked well but it was very tough and lacked any marbling. I would say this place is good for the cocktails and patio but I was not impressed with the food.

Lidor H.

Yelp
You don't want to know how's our drinks was taste, this place has no music and a vibe of work conference, not recommended.

Kamaria S.

Yelp
Great bar staff. The gentlemen who served me was very friendly, quick and efficient plus doesn't hurt that he made one hell of a martini for me! Now on to the food This was a solo date so I just ordered one item Arugula Salad Lunch with fried chicken - it was sooooo delicious had a light citrus dressing I ate the entire dish!!! I will be back the next time I am visiting Dallas

Emily G.

Yelp
Pros: great food, good spot for groups. Something on the menu for everyone. Cons: louder atmosphere (not a problem for us, we like that we don't have to damper our spirits but may be for some) Visited on several different occasions and mostly with larger groups. Republic handles those larger crowds with grace and ease. The highlight on this last visit were the tater tots and meatballs. Seriously, next time I'm just making my meal from the apps because they never disappoint. Arugula salad was clean and fresh but didn't stand out to me quite as much as the meatballs (and I don't even like meatballs). Our group was hanging out late and the servers kept the drinks coming even after we closed out they were more than happy to open another tab- and not just try to shoo us out. Definitely a lively night spot and love it.

Corey D.

Yelp
Not a bad place but the food doesn't match the environment. I went in on a Friday and sat at the bar because it was packed. I immediately thought the food would be incredible based on how busy the place was but I was honestly disappointed. The food looks amazing but generally lacked in flavor. I would probably come back to try other options but first experience was slightly disappointing.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Service. Food. Ambiance. Always a great experience. The deviled eggs are always amazing. Great cocktails. Unique and colorful.

Lori B.

Yelp
If I could give you a ZERO! It's 9:38 PM. I'm starving, pop in For some dinner, the BEARER of bad news tells me the kitchen closed at 9pm!! Can you please update your website so people like me do not waste our time and our precious moments in the evening trying to find a location for a little bit of dinner!! I'm sorry I am part of the working class that gets out of work after 5 PM... I'm sure those seven patrons at the bar they were staring at menus will be just as disappointed ...

Victoria N.

Yelp
Realized last night I hadn't written a review on this place, and I love it, the food is just good!! I got the shrimp and grits, and they do not hold back on the butter. I'm all good on that, wine selection by the glass is great. So is the whiskey collection they have, tons of booths and comfy spaces to sit. Never had a bad meal. And our waitress was excellent. It will stay on my rotation

Dave P.

Yelp
I learned about the Republic via tiktok, they said the chicken fried steak was the best in Dallas, so I had to try it. Generous size portion chicken fried steak. A ribeye pound thin then a thin crispy chicken fry batter fried to a golden brown. Super tender with a jalapeño cream gravy. Mashed potatoes were flavorful and whipped smooth. We also had the shrimp and grits. Shrimp were large and "meaty" grits were garlicky and butter flavored. Worked very well together. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful on selection to choose from. Great gastropud to come to for dinner or a happy hour. Large outdoor seating area along with able space at the bar. Their whiskey menu is multiple pages long.

Yelp
I came for lunch solo since I was in the area. Everything was just fine until as I was enjoying coffee and my bill was already rung up, it was just sitting there for me to sign which I didn't think would be rushed as I just wanted to sip my coffee. A waiter that was not mine, came over and abruptly asked me to sign. He did not introduce himself or let me know why it was such a rush all of a sudden. It was quite rude and less than the expected customer service of this business. The place had maybe two other sets of customers so I wasn't clear why I was being rudely rushed. It felt like I was being asked to leave. There are 50 other places within a stone's throw of this place, perhaps try the others. My original waiter was very nice and kind.

Yelp
I met some coworkers for dinner and it met our expectations but didn't exceed. The restaurant was busy but not overcrowded; I'm still glad we made a reservation because we probably would have had to wait if we didn't. We started with cocktails. I had the jalapeno hibiscus margarita and others tried the martini, old fashioned, espresso martini, the featured hot bourbon drink and a bottle of wine. My margarita was delicious! It was a deep purple color with floating jalapenos and hibiscus leaves. It was spicy but not over done. My coworkers were super excited that they could get their old fashioned smoked. The espresso martini looked creamy and well made. The bourbon drink was too sweet; it's a hot drink with a scoop of ice cream on top. For appetizers, we shared the chili lime shrimp, charcuterie board and cauliflower bites. I could have eaten a million of the chili lime shrimp!!!! They were recommended by our waitress and she did not disappoint. It's a large order as well so great for sharing. I tried some of the wedge salad and it wasn't for me. The dressing had a weird flavor, not blue cheese at all. The salad was "wet", like the lettuce wasn't dried before mixing in the dressing. My dinner was very tasty, I ordered the steak frites (medium rare). My steak was good, I would have liked more of the caramelized onions or a stronger steak seasoning. The French fries were addicting!! They were hot and fresh and so yummy!! Others at the table ordered the sea bass and filet mignon. The only complaint of the night was everything was on the under cooked side. My coworker had to send her medium well steak back because it was a cool medium. We wrapped up our night with some desserts! There was a birthday at the table so they found a candle to put in the apple pie... how fun! The bread pudding was served in a hot cast iron with ice cream on top... it was so so so good! It was sticky and caramelized and ooey gooey. Overall, it was a good experience with tasty food but nothing over the top.

Robin P.

Yelp
Consistent service and food. Mature crowd. It's a favorite go to for us. I hate that I am required to write so many words when so few will do.

L D.

Yelp
Everything l've had was delicious, but my favorite is the Chicken Fried Steak, it's to die for. It's a nice restaurant with a good atmosphere. Nice place for family dinner or a night with friends.

Alexei R.

Yelp
Really good place to grab some delicious food and drinks! Staff is super friendly and attentive and it's an awesome bar for all you bourbon lovers. Lots of good bourbons to choose from. The pastrami sandwich is amazing! Seriously, the best in Dallas. The spinach salad with fried chicken is also delicious. On weekends, they have some delicious specials. The manager and the owners care for the quality of food, drinks, and the overall restaurant and it shows. Come check it out! Great ambience and atmosphere.

Susan C.

Yelp
Everything there is wonderful. Start w/ the Deviled Eggs as an appetizer and be assured your entire meal will be terrific. Decor and bar band great. Service excellent. One of our top five places to dine.

Chet C.

Yelp
Just get the perfect pastrami sammy! We shared halves of the pastrami sandwich and the brisket grilled cheese sandwich. Kids and ribs and truck burger. Everything was awesome. Get the house made ranch for the chips.

Ryan G.

Yelp
Wow, this was a heavy meal. If you want something light and healthy, you can find more of that almost anywhere else. But if you want some delicious, heavy, comfort food, make this place a regular stop. I ordered the bone in pork chop which came with potatoes and then also got some Brussels sprouts. This must've been a huge pig because this was the largest pork chop I've even encountered. Look at this picture. Not to be deterred, I finished every last scrap of it. Did I regret it? A little bit, yeah. Would I do it again, maybe.... yeah, definitely would do it again. The chop was fantastic, loved the flavor and I also liked the potatoes. The Brussels were fine, but would pick a different vegetable next time as they weren't anything special. Had to roll myself out the door after this meal. We also got the quail tenders as an app and those were solid. More breading than I would've liked and they tasted basically like chicken. No complaints, but nothing really special.

Walter P.

Yelp
Amazing meal and excellent service! This was the best chicken fried steak! The picture I have included is half a serving. My wife and I split the ribeye chicken fried steak. It was served plated separately for us with mash potatoes, green beans, and jalapeño bacon gravy. The jalapeño flavor is subtle. The quality of the meat was noticeable compared to any other chicken fried steak I have eaten. No joke, this starts with a cut of ribeye steak. We tried two of the three desert option; state fair fried pie and bourbon bread pudding. Both were served with vanilla bean ice cream which we asked to be served on the side since we knew we would be taking some home. I highly recommend everything we ordered. The meal was wonderful and the desserts great also. As good as the food was, the service was even better. Jordain, our server, took great care of us and made the experience wonderful. As you can guess, I would highly recommend Republic Texas Tavern!

Brittany C.

Yelp
A friend recommended we try republic and I'm so glad we did. The place has a pretty cool vibe, food and service were all great. We had the cheese board, crab cakes, bone-in pork chop and the apple pie. The apple pie wasn't my favorite, maybe too much sugar for my preference, but everything else was very good. Can't wait to come back!

Alysia P.

Yelp
The great outdoor seating was highly appealing to this native Californian. The food was trendy and creative. The crab cakes were tasty, but small. I think they use a takoyaki pan to size and cook them. They lacked a crispness, but were yummy. The service was was good. She was very attentive to the fact that our food was slow to come out of the kitchen. The chicken breast was moist.

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
The menu was not huge but definitely had some diversity. The food was great and our waiter, Davis, was great. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars vs 5 is because some of the staff were cleaning tables near us and talking poorly about other customers which seemed a little unprofessional. But since it was not my server I was not too phased. I would gladly come back!

Arturo C.

Yelp
Showed up on a Wednesday @7pm and the bar wasn't that busy, yet I still stood at the bar for a while waiting for 2 empty spots to be cleared. After being looked over a couple times, the bartender finally removed the dirty dishes but didn't bother to wipe the counter down. He then expected me to know what I wanted to order without ever providing me with a menu (no QR code either). He took forever to come back and get my drink order, bring me water, ask if I wanted another drink, or even to run my credit card. The crowd in the lounge area was super loud, to the point that the patrons at the bar were loudly mocking them, and nobody on staff bothered to bring it to their attention. I eventually had to ask the other bartender to run my cc so that I could leave. Not sure why this place has such high ratings. Decor maybe?

Xoe H.

Yelp
Food, drinks/specialty cocktails and service are great. Will be going back as soon as I can

Alex D.

Yelp
Went here for a work dinner one night. It has a nice atmosphere and is pretty cozy. The hostess though did not smile any time I saw her and had a look on her face that she would rather be anywhere but here which gave a weird vibe. We shared a bunch of appetizers to start off with the Pepper Jack Tots $10.00, Tuna Cones $17.00, Smoked Meat Board $25.00 and Bourbon Glazed Meatballs $14.00. I believe everything was a 5 piece count except for the meat board. The tots were alright, nothing special. I really like the playfulness of the tuna cones looking like mini ice cream cones. The only issue is if you eat one you basically have to eat the whole thing or if you bite it in half then you will miss out on the avocado in the bottom. The meatballs themselves were good but I couldn't taste any of the numerous other items in the grits. The meat board had fried chicken drums (pretty dry), pork belly (not quite rendered enough), jalapeno cheddar sausage (good but nothing special) and fall of the bone mini ribs (best of the bunch). For my entrée I got the Ribeye Chicken Fried Steak $24.00 which the gravy automatically comes on the side which I liked. The mashed potatoes and the green beans were just okay, kind of bland. The gravy tasted good enough but the CFS was so thin in comparison to the breading I was basically just eating breading with gravy... Their Old Lancaster is a good take on an old fashioned so maybe they are more a of a drink focused place. For the high pricing, quality and portions on their food, this place is just okay overall to me.

Ronnie B.

Yelp
Honestly every restaurant isn't for every lady, I'm here to say this one wasn't for me. My lady likes this spot, so I overviewd the menu multiple times before we actually dined here. Even while I was there I read a view reviews that furthermore justified this wasn't the restaurant for me. The staff was courteous and helpful, the food was mid at best and the prices were a bit much for appetizers. Crab cakes: F The taste and texture was offsetting to my taste buds. Chicken empandas: C- The smoky flavor was overpowering to actually enjoy the taste. However the filling had plenty of chicken. Pepper Jack Tots: C The hashbrowns tasted stale and old, the cheese was present but not stringy I tasted more of the heat from the pepper jack. I have no idea what sauce was paired with the tots but it was greasy and loaded with scallions. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place based off their appetizers. Roni's pick

Andrew C.

Yelp
Out of a whim we decided to try this place out as the sushi restaurant next door wasn't officially open and we sure are glad we did. The exterior and interior were very nice. Modern and clean. We were welcomed and seated promptly. Now, I looked around at the bar and I noticed the bourbon selection. 'Wow' is all I can say. I haven't seen that many allocated bourbons in one place in years. Anyways we decided to try the empanadas and house smoked pastrami sandwich. Both were to die for. The house fries and ranch were also really special. Wedge salad? One of the best I've ever had. I sound like a fan boy now. We will be back!

Dan C.

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing service. This place is a hidden Jewel. I would recommend this establishment to anybody.Visiting from Laguna Beach California.

Lauren W.

Yelp
My partner was very excited to bring me here. The bartender could not have possibly had a worse attitude, kinda ruined the whole experience. Raw burgers weren't great, either, but they at least didn't serve up a bowl of bad attitude. Onion rings were great, though!

Patti P.

Yelp
I have never been to your establishment, actually have never heard of your place - we came today for Mother's day brunch and it was OK at best. We asked for table seating for 6 and were told no we had to take a booth. Then take a look around and there were several 6 tops - tables - accommodating at least 4 groups. Then our server was nursing a hangover as he was not firing on most of his pistons. We finally flag him down and that was the beginning of the lackluster service we received at for the rest of the meal. The only high point was the food, hats off to the chef and his crew as the food was very good - until dessert. You served one dessert, Strawberry buckle, and it was just okay. I thought this might be a cool place for my husband and I to return - probably will rethink that.

Marven-Lee T.

Yelp
Brisket Grilled Cheese was amazing, wonderful people food came out really fast. Place was clean and felt great!

Aspen L.

Yelp
Bartender Jason was super personable and gave great recommendations. Also was lucky to meet the owner John and he was so genuine and made the experience top notch. Can't wait to visit here again!!

Allison X.

Yelp
Visited here twice and had a lovely experience both times. Deviled eggs are a favorite of mine and Republic does them so well; the candied bacon is a nice touch. I've ordered the burger both times I've been here because I was playing it safe and also in the mood for one and I've cleared my plate both times -looking forward to trying more items on their menu. I've decided bread pudding is my dessert of choice and this place makes a great version - must try! We've coincidentally gotten the same server both times we here and she was lovely both times. Also another lady I'm assuming is the manager, walks around to make sure everything is okay and she's so pleasant to speak with. I think their drinks are little pricy (I think $15 is a lot for ranch water) but's that subjective. Overall, will definitely come back.

Alex B.

Yelp
Great environment- love coming for drinks and an appetizer! There's only one or two vegan options so it would be nice to see more end up on the menu to be able to stay and enjoy the evening longer

John J.

Yelp
Our 2nd visit for dinner and everything was great! This visit, service was outstanding. There was a hiccup with a long delay with dinner, but our server came by proactively to apologize and offered to provide us something to snack on. We were fine and appreciated the heads up, but it did take a long time. I think she went and got the meals herself, as normally a kitchen server brings the food. She was doing a great job and wanted us to enjoy our evening. Started with cocktails, the Poblano cheese dip, and the fried quail bites. Appetizers arrived before the drinks - the bar has been slow on both visits. The quail was great. The dip was good, but it needs to come with more toasts as the portion provided is not enough for the amount of dip. For entrees, we had the meatloaf, skillet chicken, shrimp and grits, and the salmon. Each one was exceptional - perfectly prepared, great presentation, and delicious. They were worth the wait. Dessert was the Fried Apple pie and the Bourbon Bread Pudding. Both were loved and devoured by the four of us. We had a great time and hope to be back soon.

Deborah J.

Yelp
Visit on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised with the food quantity and quality and service. I was expecting a bar/tavern menu and atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service was as A+. I highly recommend for a fun night out w/great food. I will definitely be back.

STEVE B.

Yelp
Super cool vibe, upscale gastro dishes and a super-friendly and attentive staff. We loved the caramelized bacon / deviled egg appetizer and the Bay of Fundy Salmon with chorizo and mushroom was 10/10. Be sure to try the tuna / avocado cones - unique & tasty! Great visit.

Randy M.

Yelp
What a great experience! If you are looking for a tasteful meal this is the place for you. The meals are executed well filled with flavor and the atmosphere is almost elevated relaxed. There house wine selection is a must try.

Michelle D.

Yelp
New to the neighborhood and I thought I'd drop in and check it out. I had the seared pan chicken and it was simply divine. I ordered online and picked it up. Will definitely be back.

Jeff P.

Yelp
Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. Ate there for dinner twice last week while in Dallas for business. The experience was so good the first night that I went back the following evening. The fried quail and the chicken fried ribeye are out of this world. Wedge salad is also a home run. Very much looking for to my next visit to Dallas so that I can try more menu items.

Lisa A.

Yelp
This place has a great atmosphere and deco! You immediately feel like your in a high end Texas country place. I loved everything we ate. The best for me was the empanadas!!! It was perfectly cooked and the sauces that went with it complimented it well. The meat platter was great too! Had all the meats to try and they all were very tasty and salted well. Let me add to my list of favs here, the wine was a cab which was smooth (house wine on the happy hour menu) went well with all our meats. The bourbon bread pudding was to LEGIT TO QUIT! The brownie was tasty too!! It had a coffee ice cream on the top of it which was soooo good!!! Over all this place is a must try! I would definitely come here again!

Demetria C.

Yelp
I met my fellow Yelper Roni here for brunch. I'd never heard of this place so I was initially a bit skeptical. As soon as walked in the door and realized that they had bottomless mimosas I was like check!!! Then I tried the deviled eggs. They were topped with candied bacon. OMG, they were DELICIOUS !!! I knew right then that I'd be back. For my meal, I had the burger which was equally delicious. Will I be back? Hell ya!

Yelp
We went to a office party. The ice tea was watery. They served sliders and chicken salad sandwiches. There weren't enough fries for everyone. Service was polite.

Yelp
Mixed bag here and it really should be 3.5 stars; the setting & decor are spot on, defying the strip-shopping exterior. The array of appetizers is exceptional, and some are fantastic (Candied Bacon Devilled Eggs, Dip Trio, & Quail Tenders). The salad choices are varied, and there are more varieties of meats to add on salads than are featured in entrees. The entree choices are limited, but the food quality & flavors are way above above average! There are several good dessert drink options from the bar, but they are premixed - so if you want to leave an ingredient out - it cannot be done. The bar is 'full' but they were out of several basics and the bartenders are limited in scope. If you live in Preston Hollow or the general area; this place is worth a try. If you have loud unruly toddlers; come before 8pm and you'll fit right in. If you don't have young children, either come after 8pm or go elsewhere. The service was spotty; I am not sure what to say. Our waittress was insttentive and slow, she forgot our requests and left us with empty drink glasses most of our dinner. Almost gave this 3 stars on poor service, but most of the other waiters looked better, so I held off. We won't be back to find out if the service improves.
