Unlike most hotels in Beanstown, I was able to get a room here under 150 a night. Everything was new, spotless, impeccably clean, service was super friendly, the location is convenient.
Location is Kendall Square, which should just be called MIT square. Although a dead part of town, especially on the weekends, it's perfect for me because it's quiet but in walking distance to my fave hangs. Also, the red line is only twenty feet from the front door and that's the only subway that matters there anyway. South Station is just a few stops away.
We were put up in a huge room with two double beds on the 23rd floor overlooking a sweet view of half of Cambridge and the Charles River, which was spattered with sailboats and wind surfers.
I'm hyper aware of decor, and found it pretty standard but tasteful, which is more than i can say for many. The beds are supah comfortable and they don't have pointless barfalicious polyester bedspreads. The spa is impeccably clean, including the pool, hot tub and sauna; the perfect way to nurse (sweat out) your hangovah.
If i had to find one thing to complain about, as i always do, it would be the room service. the food not so great. there are much better dinners to be had just out the front door.
No Marriotts aren't the five star ultra modern minimalist 800 count thread sheet hotel that i would stay in if i could afford it, with an award winning restaurant / bar, but it's five stars for the price, space, cleanliness, service, view, and location.
this byatch is too old to sleep on a friend's couch. and I had a great experience here. this my new home away from home.
