"Bala Cynwyd’s Lark is the opposite of a sports bar. With glowing mirrors, fireplaces, and a balcony showing off a view of the Schuylkill River, the Mediterranean restaurant is the perfect spot to forget that you live in a city where the sun rises and sets with its teams. There are standout dishes like rigatoni with Maryland blue crab in a sweet tomato sauce, a 14 oz roasted strip steak coated in a tangy salsa verde, and one of our favorite branzinos in the city. You’re more likely to catch a surprise proposal on the patio than someone crying over a missed field goal. " - candis mclean

"Trying to set the mood and take in show stopping views? Lark in Bala Cynwyd is the spot. In the colder months we love the candlelit dining room and Mediterranean mains (especially the bucatini puttanesca with mussels). But as soon as light jacket weather hits, it’s all about the patio overlooking the Schuylkill. They have an excellent by-the-glass list, gorgeous cocktails, and fire pits in case it’s chilly. Just keep in mind that you'll have to sit inside to enjoy the full dinner menu." - candis mclean, alison kessler

"You know how after you see an incredible movie, you have to let everyone in your contacts know about it? It’s because truly great things are rare and exciting. And no place has us more excited for a date night than Lark. From the balcony overlooking the Schuylkill to the fireplaces, candlelight, and glowing mirrors, the Mediterranean restaurant from the team behind Laurel feels like the most romantic place on earth. The plates of roasted beet mezzalune with brown butter, citrusy grilled trout with a harissa-pine nut sauce, and perfectly seared steak make us feel especially warm and fuzzy inside. Before you’re seated, sip on a gorgeous cocktail by the patio fire pits, and get ready for a meal you won’t be able to keep to yourself. " - alison kessler, candis mclean

"Lark is Philly's best date night spot. The cozy booths, chandeliers, and candle light make this Bala restaurant perfect for a special evening, but the balcony elevates it to the most romantic place in the city. There’s a great view of the Schuylkill River, and while you can't have a full meal out there, you can still lounge at one of their outdoor fire pits and enjoy a cocktail. The Mediterranean menu changes often, but all of the bigger plates work well for two. Make sure to order things from every section of the menu, including a few plates of pasta and definitely a large entree—the grilled trout and strip steak are favorites. The next time your anniversary rolls around, ditch the lame Hallmark card and just book a table at Lark instead." - Candis Mclean, Alison Kessler

Of course! Here's a positive review you can post: --- This is hands down my favorite hotel for a relaxing staycation! Every time I visit, I’m impressed all over again. The rooms are always spotless, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the customer service is consistently top-notch — the staff truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The food is amazing too — fresh, flavorful, and always hits the spot. Whether it’s a quick weekend escape or a longer stay, this hotel never disappoints. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic stay at Residence Inn Bala Cynwyd! The hotel's design blends rustic charm with industrial chic, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. There were plenty of photo-worthy spots throughout the property. The rooftop bar and restaurant, Lark, offers stunning views of the Schuylkill River and a delightful Mediterranean-inspired menu. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing evening. For lunch, The Landing Kitchen provided fresh American cuisine with the option of outdoor seating along the river, making for a pleasant dining experience. The game room was a fun addition, offering entertainment options that added to our enjoyment during the stay. We wish we had booked a longer stay and are already looking forward to our next visit!

Our stay here was beautiful! Beautiful scenery with the rustic mixed with modern build and design. My room was also wonderful, spacious, with many amenities and everything worked just fine. The breakfast could have a bit more variety but it was free and the pool makes up for it. Restaurants, walkable paths, free parking, complimentary wine for the birthday visit(although they forgot it at first after I called) but nonetheless we received it and all was well.

We stayed 3 nights while visiting family in the area and had an outstanding stay. ||The hotel is located along the river just off the highway (GPS leads you right there). Its construction, within an old Ironworks, is unique and lends atmosphere. Parking was free and we had no trouble finding a space. The staff were friendly and efficient when checking in and out. Breakfast each morning was free with a good selection of items. We went to the Lark and the Landing restaurants and both were excellent. ||We were especially impressed with our room which had a king bed and a huge amount of sitting room space in addition to the kitchen area. The desk was a bit wobbly but that was a minor issue. The bed was comfortable and the TV had a large screen with multiple channels available. The shower was easy to get into and was well designed. ||Overall, we were very happy with our stay and highly recommend the hotel. We plan to stay here on future visits and told our family about it for other visitors that they have in the future.

Just writing to say I have never stayed at a nicer hotel than this Residence Inn. It was not only clean and fresh, the staff was the most courteous I've ever met in my life. They were kind to my children and that goes A LONG way with me. My son spilled his cereal at breakfast and I asked for something so I could clean it up, but the amazing staff took care of it for me. I was embarrassed, but they made me feel like it was okay. I thought the breakfast was delicious and filling and the entire space was tidy. It was a pleasure to share a meal with the fellow guests. The way the entire space was child friendly, with activities out back at The Shack completely impressed me. The game room was an extra bonus, as my youngest son and I had some time to kill while visiting. I also appreciated how safe I felt while exploring the grounds by myself.

I stayed two nights with family members to visit a loved one in the area. Dominique worked the front desk on the nights of our stay, and she was accompanied and welcoming. She swiftly and enthusiastically attended to any requests we had, and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with her. Additionally, any of the staff we encountered during our stay were friendly. The hotel appeared very clean in common areas as well as the suite itself. The atmosphere was inviting and pleasant.

A few issues - but still a favorite hotel.|May 2025|I am a repeat guest and have stayed here several times a year for several years. My last stay was a bit of a disappointment. -- The first room, the main light was blinking and would not stay on. After 9 hours of travel, not being able to just settle in was an annoyance. The next room was not as clean as usual, but still acceptable. (example of door given) On our second day, when the room got a touch-up, nothing was replaced aside from the towels. Then every day at breakfast, there was never anyone there to ask anything. (We are usually so happy with the breakfast, even though we do not eat the cereals or hot food - we always tip the staff.) Finally, on our last day, I decided to treat myself to a croissant, which was cold and stale. ||Lastly, the beds are usually so very comfortable but this time it was awful with dips on both sides that I thought I may roll our off. ||Coffee is excellent. Staff are all friendly, kind, and helpful.||I will be back because I love this hotel and I hope these smallish issues are a fluke.|So, 3 stars instead of the usual 5.||Read less

One of the best Residence Inn's I've stayed in. This gorgeous property is integrated into a former mill, along the Skulkyll river, maintaining the character of the area but the inside is grand new luxury, gorgeous. My room was sprawling and new, with great views, and the breakfast area felt like an upscale restaurant. Parking was fine, and you can walk across the river to an area with restaurants (it's a good 10-12 min walk but easier than driving). Staff were helpful and, if you can splurge, the restaurant at the top called Lark is really good. ||If the location works for you, I highly recommend this hotel. It's a real treat.

Yelp
Great suites. Comfy beds. Free parking. Free breakfast. Plenty of space. Lots of amenities. Restaurants on site. Close to town. We enjoyed this hotel. We would definitely come back to visit again.

Yelp
5 stars x 2 nights= 10stars Traveling from sports tournament to sports tournament like gypsies it is a joy to find this oasis. Full kitchen, complimentary breakfast, walking distance to any type restaurant you'd like. And the view is so inviting, which is probably why they give you sooo much outdoor space. Courtyards, fire pits, a roof top bar serving great food to weary travelers. Special recognition to Stephanie in sales who helped me feed 40 families traveling with us, Tatiana and Sydney who if they didn't know the answer to a question found the person who did, and Chris for lifting of my shoulders cleaning up our fiesta (God Bless You). The winter will ask what we did all summer and I will reply ...there was this beautiful place beside a bridge that after a night with friends gave me peace of mind and rest for the next day. We look forward to adding 5 more stars next year.

Yelp
Do not stay here. I was flying from California to Philadelphia for business. While on flight, I received a call from the director neelesh Narayan that the card that was on file was not valid. He gave me until 5 pm to call him. I didn't land until 5:08; however he called me at 330 to tell me to disregard the email and that he was going to cancel my reservation. As soon as I land... I call them to provide my card and they tell me my reservation is cancelled and they're sold out. This is his response when I email him: "We apologize for the inconvenience; in the future we ask that you kindly book with a valid credit card to guarantee the room. " So when they make a mistake like telling me I have until 5 pm but cancel me at 330 it's fine. In addition, if they would looked at my history I've stayed there numerous times and our company has stayed there for 300+ nights. Absolutely ridiculous. Do not stay here.

Yelp
Beautiful location and great amenities! We decided to stay here for a medical trip and the staff has been so accommodating and helpful. The rooms are spacious and the beds are quite comfortable. The breakfast options are your typical fare, but they kept the chafing dishes full and fresh. There are two restaurants on site, and TONS of outdoor seating to rest and relax with a drink. The 24 hr small market near the front desk is very much appreciated. We will definitely be returning when in the area!

Yelp
This (pretty) new place has a fabulous ritzy restaurant I'd like to try (Lark), a pool, a small game room, a nice lounge area with a fire place. Only downside is that there isn't enough parking when there is an event going on. The location is very residential and out of the way- it is an odd location. A normal home would not want this as a location because it's right against a river. Sure, the view is beautiful, but it's probably prone to flooding. It's a 'secret' location that is "good enough" for businesses to be in, a hideaway from the real world, but close enough to amenities when you need to or want to go out. There is only one feasible way into this area and one way out. Up/down the hill. So awkward. There was a bar mitzvah going on this day, and some of the kids were trashing up the game room badly and possibly the rest of the hotel. The hotel staff did a great job cleaning it up and dealing with the people. Very clean and super friendly staff. Not a place I would choose to stay overnight at personally because of the location, but a place I would be perfectly fine staying at otherwise.

Yelp
This place is awesome!! Place has so much character in side and out! they have kept the steel beams and have incorporated them into the structure! the Warmth of the interior is the same we felt with all the staff!! They truly were a pleasure!! they were so helpful and accommodation from the time we entered till we checked out!! We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay with the family!

Al W.

Yelp
What a cool hotel. Hotel is "framed" by an old steel mill on the exterior. The interior lobby was very nice. Plenty of seating with table and chairs OR comfy sofas to kick back and enjoy the indoor fire. There was also a fire pit and plenty of seating outdoors. The room was nice. It was like an "extended stay" type of setup. Full kitchen, sitting area with desk. King bed, BR, etc. Breakfast was standard, self serve, with hot and cold choices. All good...and included in the price (which I love). Just feels like extra value. Highly recommend.

Ann G.

Yelp
Thank you to the amazing woman at the front desk who helped my adult but not-quite-21-year old get the housing she needed while doing medical job training and testing nearby. Two other hotels nearby, both beginning with H, turned her away because she was not traveling with an "adult"?!?! Thank you for your common sense and flexibility. And the great room too! Glad we found such great accommodations near Jefferson University.

Catout O.

Yelp
This is a very new property so the lack of care is astonishing which included a filthy room, public hair lining the bathroom floor, even in the tissue box on the bathroom counter top, the one thing that should be sealed in a bathroom until you open the box. The kitchen area, dirty dishes, including silverware, pots and pans which were disgusting and left in the drawers to be discovered. The staff is indifferent to requests for cleaning as well as unprofessional and belligerent. The hospitality business has gone out of business here, and it's take what you are given and shut up. Who cares that you are paying for it monetarily or emotionally, they don't.

Laila W.

Yelp
One of the most beautiful hotels we've had the pleasure of spending a couple of nights. Love the industrial design, the fire pits outside, and stylish room. The staff was accommodating and made our stay pleasantly memorable!

Marlin J.

Yelp
Very nice hotel with great staff! Lovely breakfast and great rooms! Very clean and everything was in order. Only complaint is that while the location is very beautiful (right by the river), it is very hard to find especially at night. Also it is very busy because of the restaurant, and the hallways and elevator reeked of marijuana. Overall small complaints but they needed to be mentioned...

Frank G.

Yelp
Modern meets retro industrial, this gem sits at a location convenient to walking trails and a short ride to city life. The preservation of the iron works elements in the parking areas and along the river give this site a unique feel. The rooms are clean and modern and the studio is smart and well designed

Aisha F.

Yelp
The air conditioner did not work at all Thursday and Friday. We called on three seperate occasions to get it fixed. A very nice staff member came Friday evening and replaced the batteries, but he was not the maintenance worker. We came back two hour after the batteries were replaced and the entire room was still extremley muggy/ stuffy. One of my sisters were having difficulties breathing Thursday night in there with no circulating air. All of the front desk staff were attentive to our needs and were trying to get someone to fix the air in our room. The positives I can say about this hotel is the breakfast food and coffee only and every single staff member I came into contact with. With that said, I will NEVER stay here again. I will NEVER recommend this place. I will say the front staff offered us a studio king room but that would've been too small for us three. We were credited some money back, but not enough if you ask me. We spent more money outside just not to be in the hotel room. The rooftop is closed until September which pissed me off even more. We were told prior temporarily are living there, I believe due to being displaced by COVID. We should've been informed of that! For $300 a night to get this place it wasn't worth it.

David S.

Yelp
Highlights: lovely riverside location that's slightly off the beaten path but convenient to everything. Right next to a walking bridge that guests can use to get to the community on the other side of the river. Plentiful free charging stations for electric vehicles. With a running/biking path right next to the hotel, it's the perfect location for guests looking to keep fit. The hotel is minimally staffed, but those who I met were all professional and friendly. Opportunities: while this is a very new, modern and stylish hotel, it appears to be struggling in the housekeeping department, which cost it a star. The floors of the room weren't clean, and body hairs were sprinkled around the bathroom. Additionally, some aspects of maintenance are lacking, such as loud, creaky door hinges in the rooms, and room doors that don't always lock. Be sure to double/triple check room doors to be sure they are secure before stepping out. Family stays be be challenging due to the noisy door hinges. Each time someone uses the bathroom, the creaking hinges may wake up everyone in the room.

Yelp
New hotel. Modern. Great location. Was hoping the service at the in house restaurants were better. Had an event here. Booked many rooms. Overall wasn't too bad but could be better. They definitely need more staff to accommodate guests in a better fashion. Hard to know who to blame for the restaurants on site. Staff all around was sub par. Has fantastic potential but needs to improve to stay relevant.

Yelp
Amazing hotel! The staff is superb, food is delicious. Location is great. A must see!!
