"Occupying a private house, this restaurant boasts a couple of old Stube-style dining rooms, one of which is highly romantic and dates back to the 13C – although it looks as though the vintage wood may have come from elsewhere, it has in fact all been here for centuries. The owner-chef creates carefully thought-out dishes which combine precision and classic comfort with the occasional modern touch, harmoniously combining the flavours of the Alto Adige with Mediterranean influences, with a particular focus on fish. Staying across the road and we were looking for a dinner spot, reviews here seemed...a bit too good but we tried it. Absolutely justified reviews, what a fantastic meal. You can choose from 2 set menus or just pick items from the a la carte. Service was great and the food was outstanding, big selection of wine (with help to pick available). Worth every penny (cent).

I was in this restaurant countless times in the last 20 years (honestly, I tried to count, it was impossible; way over 50 times). It is amazing that I never left without beint totally satisfied. The food here is everything I love, great taste, simple plates and very creative. It's super reachable as you only need 5 minutes from the motorway to reach Gufidaun. The rooms are also very nice as they just have been renovated. (Disclaimer: I know chef Thomas Haselwanter and his wife Cornelia Auer personally and call them very close friends.)

Der „Unterwirt“ ist in Gufidaun die kulinarische Top-Adresse. Familiengeführtes drei Mann/Frau Restaurant. Michelin-Sterneniveau. Alles vom Feinsten und dazu noch ungewöhnlich freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Wir möchten uns noch einmal für das wunderbare Menü bedanken. Unglaublich gute Zubereitung der Speisen mit hervorragenden Produkten. Es hätte besser nicht sein können. Die Chefin des Hauses ist eine sehr herzliche Person, ebenfalls der Küchenchef, der gleichzeitig mit seiner bezaubernden Frau dieses besondere Hotel Restaurant führt. Die außergewöhnlich gemütlichen Stuben laden zum längeren verweilen ein. Wir fahren sicher wieder einmal extra von Salzburg in dieses schöne Restaurant und werden in Gufidaun wieder ein paar besonders schöne Tage geniessen.
