Filipa 18

"This intimate, modern restaurant blends a small open kitchen with powder blue banquettes and walls decorated with bright artwork from The Polish Poster School. The modernised versions of classic Polish dishes deliver an appealing blend of textures, alongside a careful balancing of complementary flavours. Breads are baked in-house and local ingredients are sourced from the nearby Stary Kleparz market." - Michelin Inspector

Filipa 18 is a great restaurant but I would like to be honest with my review. When we walked in it was a bit awkward as the staff were around the corner near the kitchen so we weren’t greeted straight away, as we had to walk into the restaurant to find them. Then we put our own coats on the coat rack which was fine, but at fine dining it’s all about the attention to detail and I like for someone to take my coat for me. The table was set lovely with gorgeous silverware and wine glasses. Our waiter was very nice and he gave us some good recommendations. He even wore white gloves for touching our silver which I thought was a great touch. The starters were incredible! So tasty and we didn’t really know what to expect. We had the deer sausage and the goats cheese starters. Onto mains, my partner had the duck leg which I tried and it was absolutely divine! However, I ordered the chicken and it was very bland. Chicken was cooked beautifully but the sauce had no flavour and I couldn’t taste the truffle whatsoever, so it was a huge let down. I think it would have been much nicer with risotto instead of sunflower seeds. We had a very unusual dessert which was the crepe but it was like a dessert spring roll, I thought that was a great idea. We had lovely wine and some prosecco. Overall it was a nice experience but I have to rate it 4 star due to my main course.

Tonight, we had the pleasure of dining at Filipa 18, and it was an experience we thoroughly enjoyed. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring, making us feel welcomed and valued. The food was nothing short of amazing, a testament to the chef’s expertise and the restaurant’s commitment to quality. Each dish was a delight, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavors that both surprised and satisfied. It’s clear that Filipa 18 doesn’t just serve food; they craft dining experiences.Thank you to the entire team for making our evening so special.

This was the first time I'd traveled abroad on my own, and I chose the Filipa 18 restaurant for its interesting product selection. I'm a chef in France, and discovering how to cook abroad was a real pleasure for me. The 5-course meat menu was just perfect, as was the service. I'd like to thank the chef, the kitchen brigade and the wait staff for their kindness and professionalism. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The smoked venison tartare with its red fruit condiment was just perfect. The lamb was perfectly tender. The corn soup on top of the tomato pickles was a perfect example of what can be done with simple, carefully selected ingredients. The peach and rhubarb dessert was refreshing and right on time for the meal. Wine pairing was also perfect, Even if I would have prefer more local polish wine, but I was still great! Many thanks again to the entire filipa 18 team for this wonderful moment! It's a memory that will stay with me for a long time. If I ever come to Krakow again, this will be the first place I return to. Congratulations, merci et au revoir !

Our dinner started with a non-welcoming experience : at the entrance, asked us to leave the restaurant and take a sit in the waiting room, giving us the menu to read and decide wether “a’ la carte menu” or a “set menu”. In fact, they are sitting you in a different place in don toon of that choice. The served food was quite good, but the expectation was much higher compared to the Michelin guide advice and the prices applied. Nevertheless, our feelings are that this restaurant it’s way too expensive for what we got. Another negative thing - we were seated next to a table of six people who were extremely loud, while there were a lot of vacant table in the “set menu” area. Finally, the waiters started preparing the restaurant for the next day breakfast just in front of our table while we were still at the main dishes. Overall, it was a one-time experience marked by lack of hospitality.

We chanced upon this restaurant as we were staying at Indigo Hotel (just upstairs) and decided to have dinner here. The food was amazing and we understood why they are part of the Michelin Guide. This has to be one of our best meals on our Europe trip this Christmas. The service was attentive and our food was served promptly after each course. And most importantly, the taste was of course amazing! Would highly recommend a meal here if you are in Krakow!

Pleasant experience. A little over priced - you get similar food elsewhere in Krakow for less. Really good wine recommendation and lovely local wine. Staff were very attentive - although it felt like your every bite was being watched…

Yelp
My experience at Filipa 18 was extremely disappointing. We ate there while staying at the hotel. The waiter was both rude and unhelpful at every turn. They only have vegetarian dish for main course. We ordered two of them. For some reason, we were brought one of the dish on the menu and a different pasta from the bistro. The waiter said he misinterpreted our earlier conversation about whether the bistro salads were available at the restaurant and I found his apology over the mix up insincere. The waiter was rude when I asked if the amuse bouche was vegetarian. He gruffly stated that that he had already said that. He had said something but I didn't hear him. I haven't felt this unwelcome at a restaurant in long time. It's especially disappointing after staying many nights at the hotel. The food was underwhelming too. Perhaps the meat dishes are better but for vegetarians, this is certainly not one of the best 100 restaurants in Poland.

Yelp
Good ambiance and great service. Julia or Julie apologies in advance was fantastic. The food was delicious. I went with almost all Polish influenced dishes. The pork with bun and pickles was absolutely delicious. Didn't love the apple pie.
