We decided to visit Wentzl based on reviews. With the location and the view overlooking the square, it is a restaurant that shouldn't be missed. When you walk in, you will see the many photos of political and royal dignitaries who have visited over the years.
Wentzl is on top of the Michelin and dining recommendations.
We came in on a rather quiet night (given its winter and off season), but had exceptional service.
I started with the pumpkin cream soup- and ordered the lamb, and my dining companion ordered the flank steak seared on an salt stone. Both were cooked to perfection. For desert: crime brûlée and chocolate chill soufflé. Portions were decent, and plentiful.
The wine list is decent and curated across Europe, with a wide range in prices from moderate to bottles that support a deep pocketbook.
