Restaurant 1397

The setting of the restaurant is truly beautiful, when you arrive, you feel like you’re about to have a wonderful evening. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t match the first impression. The service was slow and not as attentive as you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. While the staff was polite, the level of professionalism and attention to detail could be improved. As for the food, it was quite basic considering the price. The portions and flavors didn’t really justify the cost. Focus on improving the service pace and staff attentiveness, a warmer and more proactive approach would make a big difference. The menu could also benefit from more creativity and better value for money to match the beautiful setting. With a few adjustments, this restaurant could truly live up to its potential.

The staff were very friendly, and the portions were small but nice. The flavors were great, but overall it didn’t feel like a particularly special place, the atmosphere just didn’t really grab me.

The stay at the hotel was great but the restaurant was very disappointing The main problem came from the position of the table : it was the worst one, at the deep end of the room. If the restaurant was full, I would have of course understood and would'nt complain, it's just bad luck. But in our case, the first service was finished, so another nice table was free, but the manager refuses to just prepare this table. It was "against restaurant policy", just to clean a table and prepare for the next guest. It was very frustrating to stay on the worst table of the restaurant with a view on a dirty wall while the view on the dining room could have been very nice. Apart from that, the dinner was not bad, but far from a Michelin experience : we had bread coming to the table, then removed without a word, then put again, then removed again, then put again, still without a word. This bread was quite dry. The dessert was decent but you can find it in any good restaurant. When they serve a glass of wine, the size is ridiculously small (see photo) The pigeon was (according to me) the only really special and tasty meal, really nicely cooked.

Just amazing ! Worth coming all the way just for dinner 😉. A must stop place if you value excellent food and amazing service.

That was an unforgotten taste experience in warm atmosphere with a great service.

Service is good, dinner quality is average. The quality of the restaurant Hemingway in the same hotel was more or less the same. Main course was partly cold, ( musssels).

Possibly one of the best meals my wife and I have had in quite some time . We have dined in many Michelin star restaurants around the world . 1397 without question deserves one ( at least )

Incredible food, unusual but delicious flavours, immaculate service. I would drive 100 miles just to eat here!
