"Previously a church, Irenekerk (1891) is now a restaurant. Here, design reigns supreme, with a stylish blend of soft and raw materials. The newly built roof truss immediately catches the eye, as do the rugged black walls. Downstairs, the chef's table encircles the completely open kitchen; on the upper floor, there is a magnificent bar built in the shape of an organ. This place is all the more exceptional because of the way Sven Nijenhuis draws on French cooking styles and innovative techniques. With exquisite sauces and precisely judged seasonings, he makes his mark. Think slow-cooked pork cheeks with glazed aubergine, mayonnaise finished with Thai basil, subtly spicy baba ganoush and a veal jus elevated with fenugreek. Simply divine!" - Michelin Inspector

Phenomenal food and service. We had the six course chefs menu and were blown away by every dish. The sauces were to die for and the wine pairing exemplary. The ambiance of the renovated church was stunning, the attention to detail evident in all interior design choices, impressed by how the bar mimicked the form of a church organ.

Sublime! Men if you want to treat your wifes ... this is the place! I'm not one for the little portions that they serve BUT EVERY SINGLE DISH we were served was so tastefull I wanted a whole big plate of it. By the 4th dish I just did not know how they could keep up the level? And yet they did. The young owner and chef should be serving kings. The servers was another pleasure. Efficient, articulate, friendly, witty and comforting. Truely a heavenly experience. The church has been converted into a beautiful space that you want to linger in. I am a convert and would go out of my way to come again.

We had the pleasure of attending the special “At the Table with Sven” event, and it was an unforgettable experience. From start to finish, everything was flawless. The evening began with a sparkling aperitif and continued with a perfectly balanced 4-course menu, paired with outstanding wines that complemented each dish beautifully. What made the night truly unique was the open kitchen setting – it felt as if we were dining in Chef Sven Nijnenhuis’s own home. We could see, smell, and taste the creativity happening right in front of us. Sven and his team were incredibly warm and welcoming, always happy to answer questions and share insights into the dishes. The atmosphere was both relaxed and intimate, yet still refined, making it the perfect way to enjoy fine dining in a very personal way. Every plate was a piece of art, bursting with flavor and precision. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind dining experience. We will definitely be back!

possibly the best dining experience i’ve ever had in the netherlands. very successful and original takes on the ‘classics’, superlative service and extraordinary value-quality. this place is worth the trip to valkenburg, i will certainly return. chapeau! ❤️

Amazing experience - food was innovative, stunning to look at and delicious. The service was amazing and everyone was welcoming and friendly. I was a solo diner - and they had waiting for me on the table magazines to read - a very thoughtful touch. The restaurant being in a former church was atmospheric and I liked how they incorporated at times the design of the building into the food and/or platting. It was also nice the restaurant was gently airconditioned, which was useful as it was a hot outside in August!
