"Hoog Holten steals your heart before you have even taken your seat. The drive to this romantic spot introduces you to the splendour of the Salland countryside. Eating on the terrace, which has a hunting lodge ambiance, is highly recommended! Lunchtime features a simple à la carte selection, but in the evening, the chef takes classic dishes to new heights with innovative ideas, in a set menu that changes daily. For example, he serves duck breast with an orange-infused jus, and he adds candied kumquat to al dente vegetables for a tangy twist. Consider an overnight stay for a more immersive experience." - Michelin Inspector

We had a wonderful stay at Hoog Holten. The staff very kindly turned the sauna on for us in the evening. The room was very comfortable with a spacious bathroom and forest-facing balcony. The grounds around the hotel were beautiful, and it was great to be able to go for a run in the protected woodland in the morning. Everything at breakfast was delicious, service was lovely, and it was beautiful to sit amongst the flowers with a view and a coffee.

Unfortunately I had room 35 above the kitchen. At 6:45 the exhaust turns of an every 10 minutes the "eggs are ready alarm" will clearly sound in your room. Rooms are a bit outdated, for example the curtain in my room was half loose Prices are not excessive so all in all not bad but also not good

Had dinner here with my parents. The weather was fantastic, so we sat on the terrace overlooking the beautiful garden. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I picked the 5 courses surprise menu for 60 euro. Every single dish hit the spot, especially the dessert with drop sauce! Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I will definitely come back again.

Great location near a national park. Spacious rooms and an excellent restaurant. Staff is service minded and very friendly. ||||Needs improvement: The shower had a very slippery floor and no safety handles. Highly uncomfortable.

Value for money is fantastic. Location is charming in the forest, the restaurant has a nice ambience and the hotel service is good. The bar and lounge are are very cozy with a fully stocked bar. The fifth star is only missing because the rooms are a bit dated and basic.

The hotel is situated in a nature park--The Sallandse heuvelrug. Nice quiet surroundings where the spring birds wake you in the morning. The public rooms have a nice, formerly chique feel and appear to appeal to mostly younger people. The rooms are OK, with very good bath amenities, good beds (although separate beds instead of a queen size would have been preferred) but the carpeting and upholstery were worn, dirty and needed immediate replacement. The 3-course meal included in the arrangement was mediocre.||The wines we had, both at dinner and in the bar were mediocre if not bad.||Service at dinnertime and in the bar was not particularly good or friendly, at breakfast though very friendly and attentive indeed.

We only stayed there for one night, just before the next disturbing fase in the corona pandemic.||Absolute fantastic location, in a superb nature surrounding. The room was complete, clean and with enough space. The restaurant served us a nice diner.\||All measurements were taken to prevent contamination with COVID, so also from that perspective recommended!

Rooms (standard version) are out dated and need renovation. Less electricity sockets, no switch for main light. Beds are type of box spring but soft wear matrasses. Good for 1 night. Duvet too short, no sleeve to tighten. No air-conditioning, so I expect a sauna on an average summer day. Rest of the building, corridor, stairs and wooden parts also needs a good renovation to be a competitive hotel incl. lighting.||5 course surprise dinner is excellent with bread and amuse actually a 7 course diner took 3 hours. Excellent taste and presentation, chef is a real professional. Diner was accompanied wit a 5 glass wine arrangement. Excellent as well. Restaurant is cosy and staff is friendly. ||Breakfast however is relative poor looking to the diner the night before. Everything is there for a normal breakfast that is not the case, but in this hotel you expect something more than an average 13 in a dozen breakfast.||||For the diner I certainly come back. For the hotel in this state certainly not. Rating hotel 3 star, restaurant 5 star. ||||Why is service busy with a vacuum cleaner in the central corridor second floor at 8 AM, while a lot of people are still sleeping??
