"Blokzijl is a picture-perfect little slice of the Netherlands. Opt for a table by the window to enjoy the delightful view of the lock and the quintessential brick houses. The wall decorated with cartoons is also sure to draw the eye. When it comes to the food, the dishes on the menu are testament to the creativity of the talented chef. With an eye for detail, he bends organic and local produce to his will. Fine classic flavours are shaken up in occasionally daring combinations. Lobster with blue cheese? Sardines and beetroot? It is the meticulous dosing that creates exciting nuances of flavour. The cheese and wine selections are equally tempting. It is no accident that, bar one year, Kaatje bij de Sluis has retained at least one Michelin star consistently since 1978. Quality reigns supreme here." - Michelin Inspector

Delicious food! We had the 9 course menu on a Wednesday night in February 2025. The dishes that we were served were a beautiful mix between creative and delectable. If you're looking for a great dining experience, want to spend to get something good, and don't need frilly over the top service from a 1 star Michelan place, this is a good choice!

Took my partner for his birthday. We had the 9 course amuse dinner, and it was fabulous. Some of the wine pairings could have been better (but you probably won't notice unless you have a professional culinary background as my partner does). Everything was on point in the dishes themselves. Having given them advance notice they also took care to make a very classy point of wishing him happy birthday. Package deals are available, and I suggest getting one as this makes it significantly easier on the portemonnee, especially bc the wine is Not cheap. ;)

I went to this supposedly Michelin-starred restaurant with a party of three. We spent most of the evening being ignored by waitstaff. There was a HAIR in the dishes for my party, and when we informed the staff we were told “dat was niet de bedoeling”. No offers to exchange the dish. No refunds. Nothing. Sent them an email to complain, took them months to reply. Responded to that and then no reply. If they haven’t already lost their star they should. Hygiene is a serious problem even basic snack bars can solve. Oh yes, it also took them six hours to serve five courses. Waste of time, energy and money.

Very very slow, and no explanation of the dish, not sure how this is Michelin! The whole lunch took almost 4 hours! The food was nice, just so slow!

Only dined in the restaurant without overnight. As usual a very pleasant experience with fine and original dishes (9 small tasting courses) coupled with good wine pairing. This is way different compared to randstad, but certainly recommended and deserves its Michelin.

Great hotel in near perfect location. Lovely staff.||||Arrived to find dedicated hotel parking in a compact area of town which was nice. Room was a real "WOW" (See photos).||||Huge hot tub looked great but water pressure was very low so would have taken hours to fill. Used shower instead.||||Room was basic - not a typical international hotel thank goodness! - and the bed was lovely & comfortable.||||The only negative thing we would say is that we ate at the nearby restaurant (Which was out of this world.) but when the food bill arrived, they had also added the room charge. This meant that the bill was way over 350 Euros. So you pay 21% service charge on the first 117.50 Euros, and an extra 6% on bills over 350 Euros. We didn't notice this at the time (Blame the wine!) so when you throw in the cash tip we left, the combined service/tip was quite substantial.||||Breakfast was amazingly bonkers! 5 Star cold Continental breakfast. 1st course was a slice of tomato with a drip of basil oil followed by smoked goose breast. Then some lovely bread rolls, local butter, the nicest strawberry jam we had ever tasted, smoked salmon terrine, smoked pork pate, pork terrine. This was followed with grapefruit moose, huge black cherries, etc. On and on it went.||||No orange juice - just fresh pear juice - and nothing hot so no chance of a cheeky boiled egg!||||Glad we tried it but far too rich for us in the morning.

Welcomed by friendly staff as we walked in the entry. Very pleased with our room. The views out onto the canal and church steeple were beautiful. The jetted tub, also offering a view of the church steeple, was appreciated after walking the old harbor and city streets. The breakfast was delicious, locally sourced and artfully presented. I recommend this hotel for a romantic and comfortable stay.

The location is very nice, authentic old dutch harbor village with beautiful nature surrounding it. The restaurant has a look on the "sluis", which controls the water level between the main lake and the smaller water ways. Food is fine as well.
