Here’s Every 2018 Restaurant and Bar Opening in One Place | Eater Montreal

"After being closed for six months due to a major exhaust-duct fire, retro Rachel Street diner L’Anecdote has reopened — the May blaze caused significant damage, left six people homeless and put the restaurant’s future in doubt, but it is now back in business." - Eater Staff

The Best French Fries in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Cute Plateau diner L’Anecdote is popular for its burgers and vintage ambience, but the fries are also a highlight. Just be warned: L’Anecdote doesn’t play around with portion sizes, and a large order of hand-cut fries, served with the option of regular, spicy, aioli, or curry mayo, could be more accurately labelled as “massive”." - Holly Tousignant

Plateau Burger Favourite L’Anecdote Reopens After Its Fire | Eater Montreal

"I'm relieved to see L'Anecdote, the retro Rachel Street diner, back in business six months after a major fire in May that started in an exhaust duct in the building on the corner of St-Hubert and Rachel, leaving six people homeless in the apartments above and causing $150,000 in damages. The return is welcome for fans of no-nonsense, casse-croûte fare and for those who like affordable burgers with twists — beyond the classic beef the menu includes bison and lamb — and critic Lesley Chesterman dubbed the beef burger with bacon, mushrooms, Emmental, lettuce, tomato, and mayo one of the best in town, comparing it to the long-gone griddle god La Paryse. A peek inside shows its fantastically vintage interior, complete with red vinyl booths and bar stools, survived the fire. It's open from 11 a.m. daily (9 a.m. on weekends) at 801 Rachel E." - Tim Forster

The service was excellent. I was really happy with the service. The filet mignon was perfectly made. The rice and potato were good enough to pair with the fantastic steak. The vibe, music, coziness of the restaurant was really nice. The washrooms were also nice and clean.

Best meal I've had in a long time! The steak was perfect, juicy and delicious. I felt full and wanted to eat again. I would recommend it to my friends and family.

A welcomed addition to the neighbourhood. Food tasted great (passes the ethnic test!) and the staff went above and beyond for us. We had saganaki, the anecdote special (fried zucchini & eggplant mix), vegetarian moussaka & grilled octopus. Tasty and good overall - eggplant/zucchini was light with right amount of crisp. We were pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian moussaka which was full of flavour. A nice change and refreshing from some of the dated Greek restaurants nearby. Will totally go again.

The food quality is really good. The lamb chops and grilled shrimp along with grilled octopus!! Ow boy the taste is still in my mouth. I cant forget what I ate. The staff and ambience is amazing as well. The most important thing is all their meat is halal.

The grilled octopus entrée was soooo delicious. And both options of lamb were beautifully cooked. The service was also top notch.

Better than the food served in Greece. So flavorful and full of soul. We had lemon chicken soup, lamb chops and filet mignon. All absolutely delicious. Don’t forget the crème caramel dessert!!! Service was very friendly as well. I will dream about this meal!

Excellent food! We had the grilled octopus and fried calamari as starter, and the grilled calamari and lamb chops as mains. Every dish was superb, exactly grilled to the point. You taste the love, passion and expertise of the chef. The portions were also very generous. It seems like a chef-owned restaurant. Service was also very friendly and attentive. They easily accommodated my dietary restriction (no dairy). The chef - a lovely person - came out to have a short chat with us (we were early no rush in the kitchen yet). All in all a great experience and we will definitely be back! A wonderful addition to the neighborhood! Highly recommended.
