"Not far from Nyhavn’s picturesque canals sits Restaurant Anton, an impressive 18th-century building that was once an exclusive confectionery store. A restaurant since 1915, it’s now run by the owners behind Marv & Ben, and its appealingly retro dining room still boasts its original murals, along with blue-and-white-tiled tables and Royal Copenhagen tableware. The modern Danish cooking comprises largely of smørrebrød with a twist at lunchtime – such as herring with sour cream, egg, onion compote and tomato – while dinner sees the likes of fried turbot with sunchokes and a gooseberry vinaigrette." - Michelin Inspector

We ordered the six course special menu for two people. We only had a little under two hours and the service was very friendly and toke their time to explain the dishes and wine, even though we had to “rush” through :). The food was awesome!! Great taste and cooked to perfection. We are definitely coming back in the future and highly recommend it.

My husband & I enjoyed lunch here on our last day and wished we’d found it sooner! The staff were all very welcoming and professional. We had 2 open sandwiches each & a lager. Everything was amazing, we couldn’t fault a thing! I’m not a big fish fan but absolutely loved the halibut & plaice with shrimp. We both highly recommend this restaurant.

Wanted to visit Marv and Ben but couldn't secure a seat, the staff there recommended us Anton said they share the same owner with a different concept. The staff at Marv and Ben was friendly, so we decided to give it a try. Anton is an old-fashioned restaurant with delicate decoration. They serve outstanding starters, the cabbage terrine was perfectly executed, the sauce was so good that I could just enjoy it on its own; and the hamachi was fresh and appetizing. The main dishes were decent, not special. However, I dislike their sides, romaine lettuce and roasted cauliflower, their flavors didn't balance well. Romaine lettuce was too acidic, and the taste of the cauliflower was jarring. We almost couldn't finish them. The female staff was "efficient", she wasn't rude, but I felt stressed when she urged us to order the sides which we didn't plan to order.

We hosted our guests and business partners from Greece, and Anton was—once again—exceptional. Quality is never accidental; it comes from consistency, and Anton has proven this time and time again over the years. They truly deserve the best. Both the service and the food were outstanding. Kudos to the chef for delivering such delicious dishes, adding a refined twist to some beloved classics. And the service was perfectly professional, warm, and attentive from start to finish. I also can’t help but mention how gorgeous the restaurant is. The elegant arches, murals, soft lighting, and delicate tile details create an atmosphere that feels both timeless and intimate. Every corner reflects thoughtful design — from the tableware to the subtle color palette — making the entire dining experience feel warm, sophisticated, and truly special.

An absolutely incredible dining experience! From the beautifully designed interior and warm ambiance to the elegant tableware and the welcoming team, every detail was thoughtfully curated. The quality of the food went beyond expectations—every dish was exquisite. I’ll definitely be returning to Copenhagen soon to experience Anton’s dinner set menu. Highly recommended!

After having Marv & Ben our first night in Copenhagen, I had high hopes for Anton. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary, and opted for the "Experience" tasting menu, but did not add on the wine pairing. Some of the dishes were pretty good. The hamachi, for example, felt like eating a deconstructed KaniSu sushi roll (one of our favorites), so for that one it added a bit of familiar to the new. However, other dishes just missed the mark. The fried Cod was too salty for my wife to eat. In their defense they did try to make it right, but also they saw the uneaten dish sitting there for almost 15 minutes before they actually asked if it was okay (and seemed shocked to hear it wasn't). The rhubarb and cardamom ice cream dessert was, sadly, a swing and a miss. I had high hopes based on the description, but the flavors and textures just didn't gel. The people at the next table made similar comments. This brings me to the service, which unlike what we experienced at their sister restaurant, can only be described as... inattentive. They weren't rude or anything, but they just made us feel like we were an uninvited guest who arrived for dinner without warning by the way we were continuously ignored. Additionally, they repeatedly tried to upsell add-ons we were not interested in (and frankly, black truffles on lamb or caviar on hamachi just isn't something I want to pay extra for). This just added to the negative of the experience with multiple attempts to upcharge and upsell. Add to this a credit card surcharge and a charge for bringing us tap water to drink, (we did each order a glass of wine) and it was just an overall underwhelming experience. Could it be because our reservation was on a Tuesday? Maybe it was just an off night? At any rate, for us it just wasn't great.

Beautiful restaurant with amazing food! If you visit the area, consider enjoying a one-hour cruise and then having lunch or dinner.

Honestly, it didn’t wow me. Very overpriced for the quality of food and cooking skills. I ordered a ribeye steak medium-rare but it came out more like well-done to medium in the middle. The sauce was just okay. My mom had the chicken salad open sandwich, and the edges were burned. I had high expectations given the great reviews, but… nope. Can’t recommend.
