Restaurant Aoi

Restaurant Aoi has an interesting concept and the dishes are thoughtfully put together, but the 4-course set felt quite small — we left a little hungry. The flavors are very clean and subtle, more “refined and minimal” than a full range of tastes, so it’s definitely a style that won’t be for everyone. The interior is extremely simple and didn’t create much atmosphere. On the positive side, the wine selection is great, and we really enjoyed trying a few glasses, especially the orange wine.

Incredible new restaurant. Really good value for money. Every dish was bursting with flavor and had something interesting happening. Dishes used limited number of ingredients but everything on the plate was carefully planned and tasted excellent. I really hope people will find this restaurant because it deserves to be a new star in Helsinki!

Exceptional food. The menu of the day with limited choices but exceptionally well delivered!!! Excellent wine selection. Relaxed but impeccable service. While we took only 2 courses, I would highly recommend the full menu which is well prices and the portions well sized. The venue is a bit dark and cramped ... the fantastic trio should look for another location that will fit their great cuisine better. I will certainly return. Highly recommended.

I do not want to write this review because i do not want too many people to know about this place. It is that good. One of the best highlights of my visit to Helsinki. It is as if they know how to dissect every single flavour and play with all of them for greater creativity. Make a reservation in advance!

A truly hidden gem in town. Love all the dishes on their menu.

Frequently changing and simple four-course dinner menus. The menu lists a few key ingredients, but the format and the flavor profile is always a (pleasant) surprise. Invariably delicious and good value. For the constants, the brioche-like bread and the signature Finnish pancake are both amazing. No-nonsense and friendly service, great wine cabinet with good pairings, and for non-alc drinks they offer cold infusions that are also thoughtfully paired to the menu. You can always trust the staff's recommendations. The space has good acoustics - you hear the music and the conversations at a pleasant volume. Booking is very easy via the minimalist and well designed website. (Note: there's a good chance the menu will change between your reservation and the dinner!)

Cute small bistro with imaginative dishes offering great value. The atmosphere is laid back but you will not stand out even if you come a bit dressed up. Definitely would recommend making a reservation, as this looks to be quite popular.
