We happened to read that the hotel where we were staying in Bressanone (Brixen) had a Michelin Star restaurant. We tried to get reservations, but they were booked. (They are only open on weekends, and they only have 4 tables!) We were disappointed, but then delighted the next day when we learned that someone had cancelled. We nabbed it, and we were SO glad that we did. There was a menu that perfectly fit the story of the hotel and its name. We began with a tasting of four appetizers while we were told the story of Soliman, the elephant, who came through Bressanone in the 1500s. Everything was SO delicious! Each course was more amazing than the next. The highlight was a small serving of Japanese wagyu beef. I had heard of it, but never tasted it. It was amazing. Everything was plated beautifully, and we were very entertained by the presentations of each course. This was such an enjoyable experience, and it will be a highlight of our entire trip to northern Italy!
