Aster

"Veg, locally caught fish and fire are the raison d’être of this urban eatery at the end of Rue Dansaert. The menu sports a cornucopia of creative combinations and amusing textures that frequently astound. Examples include monkfish underscored by a fascinating butter and sake sauce, while fish liver, steamed in spinach leaf, further highlights the savoury notes and finely chopped lovage adds a powerful final flourish. Aster is well and truly in the zeitgeist thanks to wholehearted, big-boned flavours and perfectly judged nuances." - Michelin Inspector

This place isn’t just about good food ;it’s about intention. The chef is incredibly talented and clearly driven by deep respect for nature. They source their fish directly from trusted fishermen, cook exclusively over charcoal, and lean heavily into fermentation in a way that really elevates everything on the table. It’s a pescatarian restaurant ,fish and vegetables only ..and every plate reflects thoughtful creativity. The drinks deserve their own spotlight: house-made kombuchas, carefully selected sake, and other unique pairings that completely blew us away. Nothing felt random ! everything was made or chosen with care. It’s definitely a place worth encouraging and supporting. If you care about where your food comes from and how it’s treated, this is the kind of spot you want to experience. Truly, truly excellent.

We really enjoyed our lunch at Aster! Service was impeccable. Food was creative and tasty. We particularly enjoyed the langostine and monkfish dishes! Wine and cocktail were also delicious! Very satisfying experience for a great price for the quality!

Wonderful tasting menu. Honest fresh natural ingredients and well balanced pur flavors. A bit daring at times. Well worth a visit and no doubt on their way to a star.

Loved to have lunch there ! Straightforward but delightful cuisine and the non alcoholic pairings were on point! Well done team ! Also big applause for delivering this quality in such a tiny environment ;)

Exciting menu, not all top. Wain pairing very good. Some dishes too far-fetched. Would for sure go back, seeing the chef’s in action in such a small kitchen is impresssive

Interesting and tasty but portions are really too small - we have been in many equivalent restaurants both in Brussels and abroad but it was the first time that we were literally starving when we came out. The lack of bread was surprising. A pity because the food was very good...

Delicious and imaginative! 3 of the 5 starters scores outside the scale. The raw egg with kumquats and mussels, the peas with sesam and scallop and the smoked crayfish. The 5 fish and vegetable main dishes were very well prepared, varied and with surprising, but well matched, taste combinations. Difficult to select favourites. For me the Rouget, Tomate, Cassis and for my wife probably the Legumes de Printemps. But all excellent. Same for the deserts.
