A restaurant with (4) rooms rather than a proper hotel. Excellent food, good room, very good service. We booked in for the night on our way from the west of France into Italy, to take advantage of the acclaimed food. We were not disappointed. ||The menu gave a choice of priced courses or two set menus, of unspecified content, or a set of truffle courses, to pick from. We chose the five course set menu, but were given extra small items as well, so we happily lost count! The wine waiter, at our request, helped us pick from their incredibly extensive selection and we enjoyed a very nice Vouvray. We were so pleased with the meal we'll definitely call again when we're anywhere nearby in future. We'll have the priced courses menu next time though - we like to pick what we like, though the chef's selection was good, if a mystery until each course arrived. We told the waitress about an allergy and she checked with the kitchen to make sure we'd be OK, and back with us.||Our room (Rm 2) was satisfactory if not large, with a comfortable bed and adequate storage, but would be difficult for a longer stay. Our only minor gripes were about the shower-room: the sink had no plug, just a barrier, so we couldn't fill it, but had to let the water run, and the 'Italian' shower had no high wall fixing, making washing hair a bit awkward. Arriving in a winter evening we didn't see much of the view, but it looked likely to be wonderful in the daylight, though our morning was misty.||Finding it - At the turn off the main road is a sign to the restaurant but it's quite a long way up the steep, twisty hill, but the place is very obvious once you get there, so keep going! There is, of course, no hotel-style reception and the way in and out is through the restaurant. Car parking is fine. Overall - Expensive but good value.
