"A good meal is in the cards at this Plateau resto, which has been uniting the flavours of Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco for 35 years. Chef Nouredine Kara personally selects the ingredients to be used each day, and the result shows in flavourful and fresh food on a couscous-centric menu with merguez, kafta, and other meats." - Karin Murray-Bergquist, Ivy Lerner-Frank

Tasty couscous and friendly service in a fine-dining like resto. The only thing I did’t like was the hot spice in the food, it was too much for me. If you’re the same don’t think of trying their harissa 🔥(friendly advice). Else I recommend this place, enjoy!

I am so glad we chose this restaurant for a relaxing family lunch. The owner Noureddine was kind and welcoming. We enjoyed a large, filling meal with cucumber & tomato salad, assorted olives, pastilla au poule, vegetable soup, lamb tagine, kofta meatballs, couscous, chicken over rice, and then topped it off with tea, coffee & dates. Wow! Each dish was better than the last. All the meat was tender, the vegetables were fresh & well-cooked, and everything was seasoned perfectly. The environment is warm and relaxed. I wish we lived in the area so we could come again and again.

At first, nobody came to welcome us at the door for a good 20-30 minutes. The owner was nice and took his time to explain the menu. We didn’t have the best experience with the royal coucous. The merguez and lamb wasn’t too flavourful. We recommend trying the soup and beef briks.

We had to pay an extravagant price for what had been ordered. The night went like that: We were a table of 20 for a birthday dinner. We all had to take the same menu (couscous), the dishes were placed on the table and we had to serve ourselves. Except for the fact that the meatballs were still a bit raw, the couscous was good (not excellent though). However when the bill came we each had to pay 70 CAD (tax and tip included) which was significantly more than the most expensive couscous of the menu (~55CAD all included for the couscous royal). I believe it is unacceptable that, for a group of ~20 people with a fixed menu and a minimal service (putting the pots on the table) we get such an overpriced meal.

Great discovery in plateau Montreal. I recommend the royal degustation menu . The owner is charming and the portions are huge. The flavors are out of this world. A great place for sharing with friends bring your own wine. A 5 stars!

My dad used to eat there in 1989. We decided to go together so we could bring memories back and so he could share them with me. Im SO glad we shared this special moment at this AMAZING restaurant ! The owner is amazing and the staff is also always smiling. Im young and dont have the most experience, but of my 26 years of living, this was the best food I ever ate ! The tea was amazing and the couscous royal was delicious. Don’t question it. Just go

A gem of a family restaurant in Montreal. Friendly and personal service, family friendly, fresh, delicious & authentic North African dishes like couscous, tagine, thé à la mente. And beautiful decor! Recommended!

I haven’t tried a lot of Moroccan/Algerian restaurants in Montreal, but this one is really one of the places I will definitely come back to. The cook was so nice that he offered me a free salad to start my meal. I tried their veal Tajin and it melts in your mouth. It was so good. Atmosphere is warm and inviting with some Moroccan/Algerian songs playing in the background. The menu is in French only but it wasn’t that hard to order from
