"Starting at the bar on the ground floor of Der Teufelhof hotel – the perfect spot for an aperitif – make your way up to the first floor, where the stylish salons of Bel Etage harmoniously blend into the historical setting. The lovely decor features the original parquet flooring, elegant double doors, high ceilings with crystal chandeliers, as well as art on the walls. In the kitchen, Michael Baader and his team focus on preparing classic cuisine. Diners can either order à la carte or choose between the two set menus – one with three courses, the other with six. The well-curated wine list comprises 450 labels. In summer, head for the pretty terrace and nab a table under the awning in the hotel's garden." - Michelin Inspector

The aesthetically pleasing décor of this one-starred Michelin restaurant, housed in a historic building alongside several other restaurants, truly lives up to its name. Bel Etage exudes a unique and inviting ambiance, characterized by its tiled floors, wooden doors, and art adorning the walls. The welcoming staff and attentive service further enhance the dining experience. Despite its concise menu, Bel Etage offers intriguing culinary options. During our recent visit, we had the privilege of being among the first to sample their new seasonal menu. The Mushroom Ravioli with leek and the veal were particularly exceptional, showcasing the restaurant's culinary expertise and creativity. Overall, Bel Etage is a culinary gem that should not be missed when visiting Basel.

Was here for the last official dinner of the year for our working group. The restaurant has a traditional and elegant feel to it, with wooden flooring. We had a 3 course dinner consisting of salad, main course and dessert plate. The main course was the veal escalope with pepper sauce, tagliolini and zucchini. The veal was soft, juicy and delicious. The dessert plate plate was good and refreshing. But italians might find the tagliolini a tad overcooked and soft. Overall, an enjoyable experience. Very good for fine dining

The food is fresh and tasty. Fish was very delicious. Hats off to kitchen staff. The service can be better.

Visited the restaurant back in November (menu has changed since then). Warm and quaint interior. The service was delightful, both waitresses were very eager and helpful. The dishes were tasty, although a bit simplistic, and thus I’m ambivalent about the michelin star. However it is a fine restaurant by swiss standards and the value for money is unbeatable.

In the restaurant pretending to be "Michelin" they add white wine to the glass even though it's not empty yet. The kitchen is good but the waiters are not well trained.

Service was really good. They catered for my fructose intolerance right down to the smallest detail and gave me different options without reservation. The food was very tasty especially the tuna tartate. Highly recommend

Absolutely delicious and stunning food. Not a single fault to complain about. Truly exceptional. The service was also very kind but seemed a bit incompetent and slow when it came to splitting the bill.

Yelp
Excellent food. Ok on service. We had a group of 10 and only be waitress. Because of rain everyone was indoors and it was very warm. So the ambiance was good but not great. I had the veal which was delicious. As was the butternut appetizer.

Yelp
Since I can't travel, I'm catching up on reviews of some of my favorite places when I am wandering. I attended a large work dinner at one of the restaurants in Der teufelhof. There were about 20 of us, and it was that lovely time of year in Europe where heatwaves are constant. Our dinner was outdoors, and the staff did everything in their power to make us comfortable against something that was completely out of their control (the HEAT)! They brought out extra fans, constantly supplied us with water, and made sure our wines stayed chilled, which was a huge effort itself. The courses were delicious, and extra points to the restaurant for accommodating me for every course with gluten free--even the bread basket! The seabream was a great offering w/the heat even with the sweetness of the fish. The rhubarb tart for dessert was PERFECT bc it helped cool me down, and I may or may not have stolen the dessert of the person to the left and right of me. The ambiance is casual, but you're in Switzerland, so ya gotta be a little polished. The dinner was fun, the staff was very accommodating, and I can only imagine how much hotter they were than us since they were on their feet and actively working.

Yelp
This is one of my fave. It is located in the hotel. You pay certain aminut and you can choose 3 or 4 dishes.

Yelp
The food was very good, and beautifully presented, but not memorable. The service was fine, but not what I would expect from a restaurant of this calibre. Overall, not what I expected from a restaurant with a Michelin Plate. Will not plan to return - would rather try something new.
