15 Underrated Restaurants to Try in Montreal

"Bringing grilled goods and mezze to the table in Laval, this restaurant from Tamer Manouchakian serves as Montreal’s more familial and moderately priced — but no less delicious — option for Syrian cuisine compared to the lauded Damas. Don’t just take from us, either; ask the large families that fill its seats every week for inexpensive tasting menus at $55 a person." - JP Karwacki, Ivy Lerner-Frank

2 Dozen of Montreal’s Best Middle Eastern Restaurants - Eater Montreal

"Owners Tamer Manouchakian, Firas Kalpakjian, and Michel Sarraf brought this Syrian spot to Laval relatively recently. Beroya, (the ancient name for the city of Aleppo), presents traditional Syrian dishes (fattouche salad with pomegranate molasses dressing is recommended) in a warm and friendly setting. The two-person tasting option includes hot and cold mezzes, salad, and kebbeh, a finely-minced spiced meat dish." - Karin Murray-Bergquist

The food and cocktails are very tasty ! I forgot to take a picture of the main meat dishes, but if you're new to Syrian food, try the tasting menu ! I reccomend taking it if you are in a group of 3 people. Very lovely and fast service. The employees are attentive and quick. The tables are very clean. Pricey, but quite affordable compared to other restaurants.

I recently visited Beroya and overall, it was a great experience! The appetizers were absolutely delicious and set the tone for the delicious meal. However, the main course fell a bit short of expectations—the lamb in the frikkeh dish was dry, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the service was excellent: attentive, friendly and efficient, making the dining experience very enjoyable. The portion sizes were also very generous! Despite the main course not being perfect, there were many other items on the menu that looked promising! I’d definitely go again to try more of their menu. It’s a great spot for some flavourful food Syrian/Lebanese food!

We visited Beroya on Easter and had a great experience! The meal started off like a traditional mezza, with a variety of flavorful appetizers, followed by a delicious BBQ as the main course. The highlight at the end was definitely the ashta ice cream for dessert, so good! The food, atmosphere, and service made it memorable. I would definitely come back.

Delicious food. Perfect for sharing so large groups are better. We were four and 6 would have been better and cheaper per person

Google
Every day you learn something new, and today, I learned that you should only go to this restaurant as a group. The fries were nice and the staff was attentive. There are better ways to spend $47.

Google
90% of people will like their food. For me, the food is ok but enjoyable. The reason for three stars is, it was overpriced. Cheap Ingredients and not well trained Cooks: The olive oil was bitter. Chicken and shrimp were overcooked. The portion of kebab or kafta was properly cooked but the others were overcooked. By the texture, it seems they buy minced meat instead of buying good quality cuts and mincing it themselves with the proper amount of fat. I could also tell by the lack of beefy flavor, it tastes very similar to local grocery store meat quality. Which is not ideal for an overpriced restaurant. The fish was perfectly cooked but then again, it was a cheap frozen fish fillet. Like the same one you can buy from Costco. The only thing that was great is the warm fresh bread. But then again they use the cheap pita bread in the dishes. I spent close to $400 for me and my wife with two kids. Can't complain about the portion even though it was less. Things are just more expensive here. It won't be the same type of portions when it comes to high-end restaurants in some European and middle East countries.

Fatemeh Piroozian

Google
I really enjoyed the muhammara and hummus with beef. We also ordered the Kebab Khashkhash and Kebab Halabi along with a rice dish and baba ghanoush. The kebabs were slightly dry, but everything else was great. We especially enjoyed the atmosphere.

Google
Beroya Restaurant is an absolute gem! The moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warm hospitality and the rich aroma of authentic Syrian cuisine. The dishes are bursting with flavor fresh, traditional, and clearly made with love. A special shoutout to Kais, whose service truly stood out. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. His genuine care and hospitality elevated our entire dining experience. It’s rare to come across such personalized and heartfelt service. If you’re craving delicious Syrian food and top-notch service, Beroya is the place to go. Can’t wait to return!

Yelp
Food was excellent, for our group of four we ordered a whole slew of apps and meat plates and shared it all. Live guitarist (sat evening) was nice tho volume got a little loud but was definitely a hit for the older families.

À ne pas manquer . J'y retourne souvent ..

Yelp
3.5 stars rating My boyfriend is a huge fan of Syrian food and has been talking about Beroya for quite some time. We finally made it here today. We had the hummus, mouhamara, fatouche, kibbeh mabromeh, Fokker Mozart. To end the meal, we had ghazal al banat which is ice cream with cotton candy. All were generous in portion but the meal didn't stand out for me or keep me wanting more. A huge turnoff, they put so much molasses on the mouhamara which ruined the taste and their hummus was bland. Unfortunately I have been to Damas and petit Alep but this it didn't quite meet the same standard. Quantities are generous and service is very attentive (or a bit too attentive with the waiter that kept passing by our table back and forth every 30 seconds)! If you're in Laval and craving middle eastern food (but not too picky) and have a family or a big group this could be a decent spot

Yelp
The food was excellent. I tried something I would not normally eat. It was very tasty as were many of the things I had there. Ask for Kevin! He's got your dessert suggestion on point! Don't be dissuaded when it says Rose water... it definitely adds to the flavor palate.

Yelp
Hands down, the BEST restaurant we visited during our Montreal trip. We were in Canada visiting my sister-in-law and her family, who were recently settled here from Syria, and to celebrate my husband's birthday. I wanted to find a place as authentic as possible as this group is very particular about Syrian cuisine; very little meets their standards. Not the case here! We ordered the Beroya Tasting special since we were a group of 10. EVERYTHING was spectacular. The fattoush was crispy and tangy. The hummus and baba ganouj were perfect. The kibbeh was the star, everyone loved them. We also had Habret Samak, a dish none of us had before and really liked. Also included were falafel, labneh, moutabal (my favorite) mohamara, cheese burek, yalanji, tabouleh, chicken and meat kabobs. For dessert they brought out Ghazal Banat, a shredded halawa with rose water and pistachio ice-cream. Delicious! Unfortunately, we were so stuffed we couldn't finish those. Everyone raved about the food well into the next day. Our server, George, was great; very friendly and on top of things. We truly could not have been happier with our experience, my husband said it was one of his best birthdays!

Sam V.

Yelp
Food good, service very mediocre. Ambience was okay , took take out. Seemed to be more concerned on drive thru clients!

Yelp
What more you can expect from an authentic Syrian restaurant were the interior design give that sense of old Damascus and the food just refresh your memory of your mom cooking. Highly recommend it for couples or big group as the service was great especially if get Chris to be your waitress and the food portions are well balanced to ensure your satisfaction. Just to be clear, Syrian cuisine it overlaps with the Turkish and the Greek cuisines but certainly bring it's full zest to the equation so have fun and enjoy a mouth watering experience.

Yelp
Easy. Five stars. Really truly. My colleague wanted to grab a meal in Laval and this spot showed up strong on both Yelp and another online review platform that I consulted. The food sounded tasty and I have never tried Syrian food so I was intrigued. Coming in to the parking lot around 7pm on Friday the place was busy. It felt like a community spot with lots of families and large familial feeling groups. It gave the space an inviting ambiance. We sat down at a table that was both comfortably large for us and comfortably spaces from the others. Throughout the evening the diners were lively but not too loud. For food, I saw suggestions of the hummus with beef, and the Syrian beef tartar so we got those. Then the waiter suggest something from the meat section. I didn't see what it was but we agreed. Everything had such beautiful delicate and balanced flavor profiles. The massive meat dish was beautiful and tasty. Service was attentive throughout with water constantly being filled (maybe that is just a Montreal thing though). Decor was not overdone and yet very thoughtful and playful. I will be back here again because it was some of the tastiest food I have had in a log time and it is well worth the trip out to Laval for you city folk. I was blown away by everything we tried and can't wait to try more.

Yelp
I'm giving them Five stars and if I have five more I will give them to you because you are amazing. The best food I've had in Canada!! This is a Syrian restaurant. Because my parents are Arabic and also from Syria I know exactly how well prepared this food was. So fresh, with amazing ingredients, exquisite service, impecable seating area, nice bar, and pretty decorations. We started with some appetizers and the hummus was so delicious! They put some steak on top let me tell you that it was soooo tender, practically melting in your mouth. Then we have raw kibbe and it was beyond amazing, soft, tasty, and with a gorgeous color. My mom has visited this place before many times she always talks about it. When I finally tried it I completely understand why my parents love it so much. The service was outstanding, making sure everything run smooth and also we had entertainment; a guy God playing live an Arabic instrument. Such a nice ambiance! Beroya you were fabulous and I can't wait to go back and enjoy your food again you were the best for me!!!

Yelp
Went back again and my husband was just as blown away as I was on my first visit. Food was all delicious, I highly recommend the mohammara, it is a tad spicier and thicker than the other ones I have had but oh so good. We also had virgin mojitos which were not as sweet as I would have expected and the lime really came through, so I'd maybe ask for a little more syrup in my drink if I ever ordered it again. Their garlic sauce does not have as strong of a garlic flavor as most other Lebanese restaurants. I was looking forward to trying a dessert but I am not a fan of rose water, and after discussing dessert options with the waitress, they have rose water in all of their desserts except the date cookie which I have all the time and didn't want to try. This time, we visited on a Friday night and they had a man playing live music which was really nice to listen to. The service is fast and efficient, just maybe not as friendly and warm as other restaurants but that is really my only criticism.

Yelp
It was my second time at this restaurant. The first time was with my boyfriend and my two brothers. We got the group menu and I added a lentil soup. The soup was so good. we were all so full and had to bring food home. On Saturday there is a band that plays Arabic music. It's a nice family restaurant. Last night we came with 8 colleagues and we got the group menu that is not on the menu. The one on the menu is for people not familiar wit the resto but apparently there's a secret group menu which is basically the same thing except that they add the kibbé neyeh (raw beef with raw onion and mint in the side) and remove the beet salad. The beet salad was actually very good. The first time we came we added the kibbé neyeh to the group menu because it's my favorite Syrian dish. It's a must if you like raw meat! It's so affordable! $79 plus tax for two people for the tasting menu and it's a lot of food! You start with hummus, baba ganoush, mohammara (which is a red pepper purée) , pita bread, and vine leaves. This restaurant has the best fattoush salad I've ever had. It comes with that Arabic stringy cheese on top. So good! Then you get the kibbé neyeh , cheese rolls, sujuk rolls (minced meet fried roll). Honestly I would have been good eating just the aforementioned items but then came the meat. You can't not eat the meat. I was already so full but it was worth it! The chicken is juicy and the filet mignon was so good. It also comes with pita bread with minced meat inside. So filling! Lastly came dessert! Vanilla ice cream with white cotton candy and pistachios. I could have ate it all by myself. Not too sweet at all. I will definitely be back. If you are a big group and in the mood for Arabic food, you should definitely go check it out!

Yelp
Loved the food here! And loved the live music. Very nice restaurant very clean and looks rich and is a very lively place. The food was delicious and they bring out mixed nuts to you when you get seated. A couple of the meza's were pretty oily, so if you don't like dry food, you'll love this place!
google avatar

Wissam E.

Yelp
The best restaurant in the greater Montreal area for Mediterranean and Syrian/Lebanese food. Very authentic fine cuisine with consistently high quality fresh prepared food. I tried most of the menu and they're all delicious from the meza to the main plates to the desert. You cannot go wrong with anything at Beroya. For people who want to try a bit of everything, I recommend ordering "degustation Beroya" that has hot and cold mezze, mixed grill platter, and desert. Cold mezza include hummus, baba ghannoug, mhamara, labneh among others. Hot mezza include kibbeh, cheese rolls, etc. The mixed grill include kafta, chicken, and filet. For those who like the kibbeh nayyeh, they will like it at Beroya. It's so tasty with the right spices! For desert, halawit jibn is a favorite. The place can accommodate large parties. The staff is so friendly and they have live amazing oriental music on Friday and Saturday night (not sure about other weeknights). It's so popular that it's fully packed on most days of the week, especially the weekends. I recommend calling in to make a reservation or to make sure that they can accommodate you before showing up. Consistency of the high quality food is one of the factors that will make Beroya your destination for all your gatherings.

Yelp
A new Syrian themed resto opened up in Laval and after accumulating a few favorable reviews a group of us visited it to see what it was all about. So here's the rundown : AMBIANCE : A few restos operated here the last few years and failed. Pylos was very Greek themed so when I walked in I was expecting it to be different but they really re-hauled the place to suit their needs. First thing I noticed were the cubicles, they are gone and a lot of big long tables were put in. The resto is clean, modern feeling with a distinct Arabic theme. The quality of decorations is very nice and aesthetic pleasing, all in all, impressive layout! SERVICE : Since we got here on Saturday night it was relatively packed with a lot of large families celebrating events (thus the big tables!!). This resto is family friendly, so expect a lot of kids running around but there are areas for adults only. You can expect a lot of little legs running about in white dresses and tiny tuxes. Another thing to note is there were a lot of people here thus it made the experience a bit difficult to enjoy since it was soooooo loud from everyone talking. What didn't help was the really loud Arabic music blaring over us on top of that which I didn't feel it was necessary at all. Having a conversation at our own table required you to speak very loudly and the relief was welcomed when I left the resto. My poor ears. The wait staff is friendly albeit somewhat passive. Speed was slow during the entire experience so expect to be here 2-3 hours for a dining experience. Extra wait staff on hand would certainly help as they were very busy! Notching down some points for only one water refill during my 2+ hour stay and it was only refilled nearly the end of the visit. Furthermore, we didn't get asked if we wanted more drinks/food/etc. This requires attention. Chasing waiters is not my type of preferred activity, so that area definitely needs improvement. FOOD : Let's talk about the food! If you haven't eaten Syrian, it's a must as the experience is palpable. It doesn't differ too greatly if you've eaten Lebanese in the past... and I LOVE Lebanese food. Here's what I experienced and my rating per plate. PIta Bread - (5 stars) Damn!!!! I love hot pita bread and I love how it looks like a big balloon of soft pita dough that somehow loves to find its way down your gullet. Yummy! Fattouch - (4 stars) Mixed fresh vegetables and fried pita served with vinegar and pomegranate molasses seasoned with sumac. Salad-like shavings on top of the salad was nice. Lacked the acidic kick at the end of each bite I've grown to love eating this type of salad over the last few decades but hey.... still very good. Sujuk rolls - (4 stars) Seasoned Minced meat with Syrian spices fried with pita bread. This was definitely a new experience for me as I'm used to Sujuk to be wet-like bowls with a dry spicy taste. The appetizer experience was welcomed and tasty. Cheese rolls - (5 stars) Cheese baladi rolled in a crispy dough. Absolutely a must try, delicious!!! Imagine a fried egg roll filled with decadent cheese. Fries - (2 stars) Garlic potatoes cut into small cubes with a garlic soup-like sauce. Potatoes were decent but the garlicky taste was weak, the soup-like mixture at the bottom made the potatoes at the bottom obviously mushy. Forgettable. Chiche-taouk - (3 stars) Chicken marinated in our homemade sauce grilled on charcoal. The chicken was good, enjoyed the spices but it seems either Beroya can't do garlic right or the mixture Syrian cuisine uses for garlic is not for me. Garlic was weaksauce. Very creamy, did not taste the right amount of garlic. Average plate. Halaewt el Jiben - (4 stars) Semolina and cheese pastry stuffed with Cream (achta) served with pistachios and sugar syrup. Very tasty and I always get sad when my plate is empty. Bouza & Ghazel el Banat - (4 stars) Ice cream served with cotton candy and pistachios. The cotton candy looks weird at first since it looks like dog hair but it's quite tasty. Ice cream is not the conventional kind and it's an acquired taste. I liked it Aryan (2 stars) - Yogurt mint drink. Small serving with almost no mint, didn't feel right for me, forgettable. Wanted to try some falafel but they were out.... at 6 PM? I'm not a fan of things being on menus which you can't order.... also no olive plates, correct that please. PRICE : We tried several plates and the final price tag divided among us made it an affordable experience ($35 each). Definitely recommend the hot and cold mezzes with a bunch of friends. They have a nice menu where you can order a number of items for $79 (dinner for 2) but we didn't feel inclined to order from the cold mezze. Value here isn't excellent but still pretty good. CONCLUSION : 4 stars. I was concerned about a few menu items but I'm just picky about my garlic stuff (I'm a garlic snob?) but overall it's a good experience to try at least once. If you like Lebanese well.... try Syrian and bring friends!

Yelp
Really fantastic place. The food was amazing and the service is fantastic. Make sure you do not miss out on the desserts. We were visiting Montreal for 3 nights and had to go back for the ice cream, out of this world. We would absolutely go again if we visit Montreal. Highly recommend this place. Fatoosh was the only so so dish. But everything else was fantastic

Yelp
So I live in Otterburn Park. This place is in Laval. We drove about 50-60 minutes to get to this restaurant because my uncle wanted to celebrate with us kids. I'm not very familiar with Syrian cuisine but everything we had was overly sour! Every bite was like bitting into a lemon. This is family style food which is fine but I don't think it was worth 65$ a person for what we were served. The staff was nice but are not familiar with their own wine list. Service was slow but it came with a smile. There was a lot of leftovers but that's just because it was way too sour for all 20 of us to finish. We ended up having my uncle take it all back for himself just to thank him lol. I love you uncle Phat!

Yelp
I was excited to hear that a new Syrian restaurant had just opened in Laval, could this a Damas in Laval. After some research I realized it had opened at the old Jardinos restaurant next to Universe on St-Martin. I went there a Sunday evening and I must say it was pretty full. It is very nicely decorated, With Arabic writing on black marble stones all around the restaurant, The staff is very courteous, but it shows that it is a new restaurant, you feel like they are not 100% sure what to do, or what is expected of them. But in general very nice. We had the sample dish which was 79$ for two people, you had 2 salad, 4 cold mezzes, and 4 hot mezzes, the main course was a plate of grilled meat and they finish you off with desert. My favorites were the fattouche salad, the hummus, and the cheese roll. The grilled meats were also very good, maybe a little spicy. What I least liked was that they brought the salads, and all 8 mezzes together. I would have liked a slower service, maybe giving us so time to each part of the meal. Now I must say that I am a little bias, as one of my all time favorite restaurant is Damas, and I was kinda hoping for the same taste and feel, but it definitely wasn't. But was it bad, not at all. I came to the conclusion that I cannot compare the two, Beroya, is much more affordable, more family oriented place where as Damas, is more romantic, more high end. All in all it was a nice enjoyable dinner.

Yelp
Syrian Restaurant The waiter just told me that this place has been open for only 3 weeks, I guess that is why there are no reviews. Where would I start! I came here with my wife and kids, hoping for a nice time. Well, this place has changed the standard of fine dining and restaurants in Laval or even Montreal! A lot of the fancy places around town, especially middle eastern, have a new competition. Fine Syrian Cuisine from Aleppo at its best! Food: the portions are a bit shrinking (every time I come back here I notice the portions are becoming less -too bad- I had to update my review here . I didn't change my rating but if next time I come here and I see less portions then I would change my star rating for sure), the taste, the presentation, and every aspect of it.... simply amazing! You rarely find a place that offers all these together! I want to go there again just for the sake of trying other dishes. Ambiance: the decor, the place, the music, the tables, the cleanliness, everything is just well done and fits the place and the food it is offering. It has an easy access parking area, and families with kids can have nice time as well. The tables are big and the place is big and spacious. Service: The place was almost full, the staff were very helpful and friendly. We got the food very quickly without a delay. Nice service and great smile! Price: This is an important part for all! I believe that this place is not extremely expensive but it is better than other places within the same price range! For the portions and the amazing TASTE, it is not that expensive. The average price per person is about $30-$50, which is very reasonable for a "fancy" place like this. I would definitely come back again and for sure will recommend it to all. I only hope that it keeps up the good service and good food. I look forward to see others review this place too !

Yelp
Yum! My friends took me here. The food, customer service, ambience - everything was just amazing! I would happily visit this restaurant again. We tried hummus (and oooh their pita bread was so fresh and puffy), Labaneh, mouhammra, mixed grill and shish taouk. All these dishes tasted super yum. Also, don't fall prey to the soft and fluffy pita bread. Only have one or you won't be able to eat your main dishes. Do try this place!!

Yelp
Amazing food and great service ... Ordered tow for 79$ . Side dishes were too many. It main item was on my one.:( Great dessert, overall great experience

Lucy F.

Yelp
I am shocked that I haven't reviewed this place yet. Basically everything on their menu is delicious. The place is nice and big, so it makes social distancing easy during these times. The staff is always friendly and the service is fast. Prices are very reasonable considering the quantity and quality of their dishes. I can't tell how authentic their cuisine is... but every single thing I tried at this restaurant was either very good or amazing! And their homemade pita is perfect Reservations are recommended.

Yelp
Amazing place the food is amazing everything on the menu is tasty! Service is on time and very friendly! Great place to being the familly or friends! Would definitely recommend to everyone Update* we ordered fruits off the menu but it never came was going to remove a star but waiter was very cool!

Yelp
I wanted to expand my tastebuds with a second visit to a Syrian restaurant. I had about 6-7 hot and cold Mazas . What a delight! I really enjoyed the Kebbeh Mabroumeh which is rolled instead of fried. The Fattoush Salad was a big disappointment. Was not fresh and was saturated by the dressing. The dessert was..as you can see I posted a picture, not inviting but it was so delicious. It's called Ghazel al Banat which is ice cream and cotton candy! Ended the evening with a green tea and mint! It seems like I'm flirting with food more than with men. Bahaha!
google avatar

Viviane M.

Yelp
You will not be disappointed by this place as it is an icon representing all the main Syrian food staples. From the assortment of hot and cold mezzeh to the wonderful and savoury grilled meats - it'll feel like home ! The taboulé, the cheese rolls and the steak cubes are amazing !
google avatar

Yesmean S.

Yelp
I had my birthday with 25 people there and we had a blast. Everyone loved the food. There was a man playing the oud (Arabic guitar) absolutely beautiful. It was amazing and the service was excellent! The employees are so nice! I'm going back with my family for sure. I recommend this place for sure!
google avatar

Ghassan K.

Yelp
This is probably the best authentic syrian restaurant in North America. I'm Syrian. Lived in Syria and visited many cities in Canada and US.. this is by far a superior Syrian restaurant. Aleppo cuisine. Great mezza (appetizers), kebbe preparations and grills. Service is excellent. Presentation and taste is phenomoneal. Highly recommended! (Esp try the arabic icecream at the end with cotton candy)

Yelp
It was ok, nothing too special and would not specifically look forward to going there again. This being said, there was nothing really wrong with the food or the service, but there was nothing to get excited about either. On the more critical side, I found the place pretty loud with lots of kids running around unsupervised. By 11 PM, many kids were passed out on chairs randomly across the restaurant. The food was just OK for people used to high quality Lebanese or Syrian food, so if you are native from that region, this would leave you unimpressed. But the average non-middle eastern who has never experienced this type of food would find this experience pretty pleasant. For about $60 per person, I'd give it a "meh".

Yelp
I'm Originally from Syria but live in The USA We visit Laval very often. We were so Happy to see an authentic Syrian restaurant opening here in Laval. fresh cuisine and good portions reasonably priced. The decor has a Syrian touch and interesting The staff is great -definitely has variable number of customers but extremely hospitable, the owner as well is very friendly and willing to make you feel at home Thank you. This place is new and experimenting but the flavors and freshness different from anywhere else. Do your selves a favor and go try it.

Yelp
It's going to be a short review Everything was tasteful they know what they are doing we were very happy with the food except the cheese rolls dough is very thick and not crunchy , service is good , food is good everything is fairly prized . I hope in coming years they will not sacrifice the quality of the food I hope they keep it the same because most of the new middle eastern restaurants when they first open they give you a good quality food after they build there customers they start to sacrifice from the quality .we will definitely go back

Nana A.

Yelp
It was delicious! The best Syrian food i've tried in North America. It's just like eating in the middle of Damascus. The restaurant itself is authentic, clean, and neat, and the servers were very polite and cheerful. The servers roam around to check that you like everything and to provide you with what you want. We came from Boston to eat here, and it was worth it.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and food presentation, as well the quality of ingredients, on my first visit this week. I would, definitely, recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys the experience of " first class" dining.

Yelp
i just returned home from the restaurant... we order different dishes .. let me start with less favorable one.. the halabi kufta was tender and grilled very well but lack a deep flouver i think it will be favorable for one who love medium fatty tender meat .. then the kuftah al -karaz the flavour was amazing iwish it was with meat balls instead of meat pieces .. the sauce is sour sweet flavour.. it will suit nicley with white simple rice. the shish taooq was very good the amazing dishes for me is the appetizers the hummus, abu -ganoog,fattosh ( the black olives, the majadalah cheese - the fried bread was crispy and not fatty and well flavoured) and i like fresh made at restaurant bread.. they tast amazing and super hot they are fresher than the backery.. and they keep fill your basket every time you finsh the breads.. the service is super fast and friendly it's good for family with small kids and couples .. it's preferd to reserve a table before you go .. because it's hard to find a table in weekends without previous reservation.

Yelp
The food and service here was both excellent. I ended up sharing the kebab beroya with my friend and that was more than enough food for two people. Despite that, we still got hummus, falafel and the mohammara (which was our favorite apppetizer). Definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the area!

Yelp
Great food, the Armenian salad was excellent! I got it without too much spice and really enjoyed it. I went with the Kebbeh El Joz which was very good and the other Kebbeh looked tempting. I probably could have had three plates of those as my meal.

Yelp
it was my second time for syrian food and both in weeks. i would have given 5 stars if i had not been at Damas. although it cost half of damas so was the taste. service was good as well as the portion. i esp liked the dips and lamb chops. every thing else was good.

Yelp
You're better of going to Alep on Jean Talon. Worth a try if you want to spend your money on trying. The meat is good, way too pricey for what they offer.

Yelp
Food is OK but service was atrocious. We were in a big group for a birthday but don't take the reservation if you can't serve properly. We never received our menus . We had to look for their menu on our phone to order. We ask four times for pita. The first time was when we placed our order. By the time we received it, we had salad and the cold mezas were on the table, more or less 25-30 minutes. For pitas!!! The waitress also dropped a drink on us and did not even apologize. Final straw was when we ask what dessert was included at the end of the meal. She said she would find out. 15 minutes later, another waiter came with a dessert and saif it was the one included. My wife couldn't even eat that dessert because it was made with cheese. All in all, really bad service and the food was far from good enough to compensate for it.

Yelp
Let's get the obvious out of the way, you will never find better food anywhere else . I went with my extended family there for Mother's Day and ordered many plates and they exceeded my expectations in every way . The service is beyond professional and this is unexpected from an Arabic establishment. The only possible critic I can say is , it would be nice to have olive plates. Great place and will be a loyal customer for years to come.

Yelp
My first experience of Syrian food. Delicious! I often eat in Lebanese restaurants and though there were some similar dishes I tried some that I had not tasted before. There are some tasty small appetizers. For my main dish, the grilled eggplant and kabab was amazing. The waiters are great and super helpful. I enjoyed chatting to a group of Syrian women at the next table. The restraint interior is beautiful and on Friday night they have live Syrian music, which I enjoyed. To top it off a nice bar and good wine too.

Yelp
You would not be able to tell what a wonderful restaurant this is from the unremarkable area in which it's located. Once in the door you'll find an elegant, spacious place with an appealing modern decor that I assume is Syrian. The best part is the food. We had the Fattoush slad, Sajuk rolls, ad 2 different kebabs. All were outstanding along with the puffed pita. Service was great, too. I sincerely hope Beroya does well enough to survive until I return to Montreal.

Yelp
The worst experience ever, staff was very rude and service was really slow and bad, don't recommend it at all
