2 Days in Majorca

"You can enjoy a typically Majorcan menu based on local, seasonal produce and a wide range of flavors at Ca'n Boqueta, by Chef Kiko Martorell. Located in a traditional house that's emblematic of the island, the restaurant boasts views of the mountains and a special charm in addition to its great value cooking that has been recognized with a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand." - The MICHELIN Guide

"Located in the centre of Sóller, one of Mallorca’s most picturesque towns, and easily accessible from Palma, including via the island’s historic train with its traditional wooden carriages. The restaurant occupies a typical Mallorcan house with an impeccable rustic decor and a particularly attractive rear patio with fine views of the valley and its famous orange groves. To this backdrop, owner-chef Xisco Martorell offers guests his updated and innovative take on Mallorcan cuisine that can be enjoyed on two tasting menus – a simpler offering at lunchtime with a more elaborate option in the evening." - Michelin Inspector

Food is of very good quality and dishes are very creative. This place only does fixed price menu with the option to add the wine pairing. Considering other places in the area, it seemed affordable for being a price fix menu. We sat at the terrace which wasn’t anything special. Next time I will ask to be seated in the main dining area inside.

I don’t know which Michelin auditor visited this place, but they must have been either very hungry or didn’t try the lunch menu, because this was a below-average meal compared to any other Spanish restaurant. Firstly, the tuna pâté as a starter was bland, completely lacking in taste and missing any crunchy or contrasting element. The baby squid was quite good—nothing special—but what was truly disappointing was the veal dish. It felt like a random mix of leftover veggies and poorly seasoned meat. Honestly, something I’d expect to get at a casual family BBQ, not at a Bib Gourmand restaurant. Even though we were almost the only table in the restaurant (which in itself felt odd for a Michelin-recognized place), it took the staff 17 minutes to clear our plates. The food presentation didn’t help either—it was more like: “Here’s some squid…” Overall, I don’t recommend this restaurant and I truly don’t understand how it made it into the Michelin Guide.

Fantastic regional food with a nice sophisticated touch. Attentive and nice service. Gorgeous place. Fair prices. The short menu was plenty of food for a dinner for us

Avoid this place. As a foodie who swears by the Michelin guide, I was very much looking forward to trying this restaurant. Sadly, I was hugely disappointed. While the price and presentation of the dishes were great, the food itself was below average. Our two main dishes were tuna cheek with mushrooms and honey, which tasted like cat food and then a prawn stew which tasted like dirty bath water. When the bill came we were then shocked that they had charged us for the bread and butter which despite being the best thing we ate that evening, was presented to us as if it were complimentary, which was disappointing. All in all, I would advise you skip this place. I’d rather spend more and have a half decent meal elsewhere.

One of the best restaurants we have tried in Mallorca. The tasting menu was well designed, and the taste was pure. The dished prepared for kids were also delicious and made with heart. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

Following the Michelin guide blindly. Its the very first time I spent over 130€ for a very medium menu. Started with really unpleasant waiter who wasn't welcoming neither sympathic all along the tasting menu (the young waiter was much more joyful). A side of it deco very basic which can be appreciated but with table napkins dirty and had some rest of leaves on the table. Amuse bouche and starters were promising but then the fish and meat wasn't special and the mix of flavours were not matching on my opinion eventhough we are very opened. It wasnt not good just not what was expected. Some other addresses can get this Michelin recommendation in the surrounding (Cf Patiki where creativity is) Not saying it's not good but disappointing compare to what is expected.

I went for a lunch menu which I believe was well balanced and fairly priced. The food was a bit underwhelming for a Michelin guide. The starter and dessert quite good, but the main (stuffed chicken thigh) was very basic. The staff was great though and all in all would recommend to try.

Since our last visit, 5 years ago, I believe the restaurant has now achieved the coveted Michelin star. That said, the presentation and stunning food did not make up for the tiny portion sizes or the distinct lack of atmosphere. We are not new to the concept, having eaten in fine dining restaurants around the world, but at over €270 for 4 people (including drinks) we shouldn't have to be making rounds of toast on our return to our accommodation.

Yelp
I was visiting Sóller solo between trips with my family, and I wanted to treat myself to a nice dinner out at a Michelin star restaurant, so I made a reservation at C'an BoQueta (Home of the Wide-Mouth Person haha!) The food and presentation were fabulous. I enjoyed the beef cheek confit and the trio of chocolates the most, tho the truffle mellow rice with marinated red prawn was delightful as well. The chocolate trio consisted of a small brownie, a dollop of chocolate ganache, and a white chocolate with pistachios--just the right amount of sweets for me. The wine was okay, and I paid €12.50 extra for the Sóller prawns stew, but would not do that again as I found the 2 shrimp in a thick brown sauce to be tasty but a bit bland. The reason they lost a star is because they sat me in a room all by myself. They apologized saying the outdoor patio was full, tho there were some open tables presumably for other reservations, but it really dimmed the whole experience for me. Right before the chocolates came out, the server was kind to offer a spot outside that had opened up due to a no-show reservation, but I was on my last dish of 6 and didn't want to dirty another table, so my only dinner companions were the servers coming and going to the kitchen and bar. I would return, but I would definitely want to sit on the back patio.

Yelp
In the past few seasons, C'an BoQueta has established itself as the Soller Valley's best Restaurant. BoQueta is conveniently located in downtown Soller with plenty of on-street parking, or a 5 minute walk from Soller's main municipal lot. The cuisine is contemporary Spanish. What sets BoQueta apart is Chef Kiko's innovative juxtapositions of local Balearics flavors and textures. This is a serious dining experience wrapped in a laid back atmosphere that's often missing in more staid fine restaurants on the island. Dinner each evening is a 5-course set menu at about €25 per person or €45 if you choose to have it paired with Mallorquin and Spanish wines. Kids are also welcome, and can choose a course from the evening's set menu, or the kitchen will whip up a plate of fresh pasta. Seating for dinner starts at about 8pm. Reservations are highly recommended, especially if you're planning on dining al fresco with views of the Tramuntana mountains. Indoor dining is no less romantic. Lunch is also excellent and a steal at about €12-15, including beverage. C'an BoQueta is a must if you're lodging or stopping in Soller, and merits the drive if you're not.
