Cadaqués - Review - Barceloneta - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"Cadaqués in Barceloneta is the only spot in town that delivers perfectly textured rice with that full smoky aroma (it's made the traditional Valencian way, over a wood fire). The restaurant has a fisherman-themed décor that’s more classy than kitschy, and a rice menu that goes beyond the classic negro and marinera. The one to zero in on is the arroz brut, or dirty rice, named after the color it gets from the briny squid ink. It’s full of tender calamari, clams, and monkfish, and packs a garlicky punch, especially if you add extra aioli, which you should unless you have a date later. The grilled seafood starters like baby razor clams from the Ebro Delta will more than hold you over as you wait for your rice to finish cooking. photo credit: Sara Larsson" - Isabelle Kliger

12 Best Beach Towns in Spain

"Three hours north of Barcelona near the French border, this enchanting seaside village is set within the rugged Cap de Creus Natural Park and is famous for its ties to Salvador Dalí—visiting the artist’s home is a key attraction. The town’s dark cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings create a romantic atmosphere, dining options include Compartir (the sister restaurant of Disfrutar), and the best way to explore the area is by boat to reach numerous small coves and beaches that are otherwise inaccessible." - Jamie Ditaranto Jamie Ditaranto Jamie Ditaranto is a Brazilian-American journalist who has traveled to all seven continents in search of the best trip ever. This was one of the best Paella’s I have ever had. Antonio gave incredible service, switching between English and Spanish to accommodate different members of my party. Many of their dishes are prepared over wildfire stove, and the open kitchen allowed us to see our Paella and fish being prepared. They even let us go outside the kitchen to see an order of fish we had getting prepared, and they finished deboning our fish at our table. Would highly recommend!

Excellent food and service! The paella was outstanding and beautifully presented. We also enjoyed Iberian croquettes and wine.

Stopped there for dinner on our last night in Barcelona and oh boy did it not disappoint! Following our waiter Marc’s recommendations, we took the tartare on pork belly as an appetizer and the BRUT paella which turned out to be one of the best meals I have had in my life. Definitely recommending this place to anyone looking for a gastronomic experience in Barcelona!

We had dinner at Cadaqués on our last night in Barcelona. The food, wine, and atmosphere exceeded our expectations! Our group of 6 was able to sit in a private room which elevated our experience even more. We shared a vegetable paella (which was cooked perfectly), bread, asparagus, and salad. The staff was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. We left feeling completely satisfied and would highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious paella in the Barcelona area!

I've just had a seafood paella that looked nothing like those photographed here. I wish I'd photographed mine, but in fact there was almost nothing to photograph. Are these photographs in fact fakes? Or from a different restaurant? When I had finished both portions (single portions not available - my wife doesn't eat seafood), costing more than €60, I had 4 clam shells left on my plate and had eaten perhaps 4 pieces of fish as well as quite a lot of rice cooked in squid ink. That was all there was! This was among the meanest paellas I've ever seen and for €64 that is CRAZY MEAN and CRAZY EXPENSIVE. My wife's duck paella was slightly more generous with 9 pieces of meat and 4 pieces of salsifi - €56 for 2 person portion. Photo shows the one person portion we took away in a box eating later. And while I'm ranting, of the many Barcelona restaurants we've eaten at this week, this was the only one that served only one sort of olive rather than a selection of different olives. Not cool.

From the moment we walked into Cadaqués, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The atmosphere was inviting, and the service throughout the evening was simply superb. Everyone made us feel welcome and cared for—from the first hello to the last goodbye. Now let’s talk about the food: everything was absolutely delicious. We started with the flower artichokes and Porrets a la graella—both beautifully prepared and full of flavor. For our main course, we had the Pato y Salsifíes paella (duck and root vegetable), and let me just say—it was out of this world. A perfect balance of richness and comfort in every bite. Our server, Ignaçi, was a delight! So animated, sweet, and attentive—he truly added to the magic of the night. To end this incredible meal, we indulged in the Xuxo de crema with warm chocolate sauce. Heavenly. We left super stuffed and super happy. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience in Cadaqués, this is the spot.

Google
It is a touristic place and if you want to have a chill paella experience in Barcelona i can highly recommend it, but… while the prices are for fine dining you don’t get the service as it, the service was friendly enough

Had an absolutely wonderful dining experience here! We enjoyed the fresh catch of the day - beautifully prepared scorpion fish that was expertly cleaned and perfectly presented. The flan was the perfect way to end the meal. What really made the evening special was how attentive and accommodating the staff were to our dining preferences. They went above and beyond to make sure we both had an excellent meal, and even surprised us with some lovely touches that we weren't expecting. The care and attention to detail really showed, and it's clear they genuinely want their guests to have a memorable experience. We left feeling very well taken care of and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Our concierge at our hotel made our reservation, yet the front desk did not have a record of it and kindly seated us anyway in a busy Saturday evening. Our server recommended a great Red wine from a local winery and it was delicious. Our party of 3 had the porkchop, squid ink rice and the duck. The duck was delicious, the other two dishes and dessert were good and better than most of our meals so far in Barcelona. We would return for sure.

Yelp
If you are searching for a paella with authenticity and flavor rather than tourist schlock, this is the place. Cooked over an open flame (viewable through the windows from the street), the Cadaqués arroz is everything I hoped it would be and more; filled with muscles, rock fish, clams and squid and with a rice flavored with wine, saffron and other delicious mysteries. The service was friendly and the tables indoors are comfortable and feature a spare, tasteful Mediterranean decor. We will absolutely come back the next time we visit Barcelona!
