Restaurant Calva

We came here few days ago to celebrate our 12 years togetherness. Never expected before that the restaurant interior is so beautiful. Cozy, simple and elegant. It located in Nootdorp, small village close with Den Haag, Delft, Rotterdam. It easily accessible by bus, tram, and free parking garage. The food was fantastisch. Not only the taste is so delicious, but it also presented so beautifully. The art of food in a plate. We had 10 menu’s. All were perfect. If I'm not mistaken, this is a michelin star restaurant. That’s why their standard is high. Their service was excellent. Everything was on time. The staff are friendly. The owner and also the chef is a local Nootdorp person. He was the winner of the entrepreneur award in Pijnacker - Nootdorp. He came to each table not only giving a greeting, but also serving the food and explaining it. If you live in Nootdorp, come to Calva. Not only to support local, but also it’s worthed price and taste. Highly recommended restaurant.

A very, very, very nice restaurant. The chef is a very sweet and caring man, the sommelier is knowledgeable and very dear to share his opinions and the food was wonderful. I will come again and recommend this restaurant to my friends. Cheers !

It is a amazing dinning experience with spectacular dishes and amazing flavors. Definitely recommended. Service was great and the restaurant is beautiful decorated and elegant.

Fine dining at its finest. They moved to a new location and received a Michelin-star as of 2025 so we went again. A lovely unique menu cossisting of approximatly 7 different courses with optional acompanying wines, selected by the inhouse sommelier. Time flies by as the waiters and staff take care of you. And with an open kitchen you can enjoy watching the man and woman hone their craft.

from start to finish a wonderful experience, every dish we had was a suprise, full and rich with flavor and textures. a party in my mouth! Service was immaculate, very personal, and atmosphere is very cozy, we enjoyed the dinner very much and we will definitely be back for more suprises!

I have found my calling here in the Netherlands. After a long time. I have found the restaurant that finally meets my expectations. This stunning establishment has zero tolerence for shoddy hospitality as they meet your needs and are so professional. The food is fantastic and the chef presents you the food themselves. The drink selection was great. We were catered for vegetarian food with no Alcohol. What more can I say? Give this place a Michelin Star now! Updated 2023. I just went again. Fantastic as always. Updated 2024. Yesterday at Calva, the oyster I had was an exquisite experience. The combination of flavors was nothing short of stunning, with a distinct citrusy burst that complemented the fresh, briny essence of the oyster. Each bite was a perfect harmony of the ocean's natural salinity and the zesty, invigorating notes of citrus, creating a memorable and refined culinary delight.

I had been to Calva for my graduation dinner last year before they moved. A truly amazing experience, the owners gives his guests attention during the dinner and makes sure everything is alright. We also visited Calva after they had moved, which we did not expect anything less. The layout and atmosphere felt different, but in a good way. I like the rustic decoration, combined with the luxurious experience.

A pleasant evening with some small points of improvement. We had a great time at this restaurant! The food was generally really delicious - the chef can clearly cook well. Only the signature dish (fried liver with layer cake, pear and apple syrup) was not quite my taste. That combination of sweet and savory didn't work so well for me, but that's of course very personal! When I honestly told this to the chef, I noticed that he liked this a bit less, which I understand but also a bit of a shame - we don't all like the same thing. The staff was friendly and clearly did their best to please us. There were a few small things that could have made the experience even better: sometimes there was some awkward service, the sommelier was just as difficult to get hold of for the wine, and we missed tasting it before the wine was poured. At the end we were a bit forgotten and we were not offered coffee or tea. All in all, we had a nice dinner and had a nice evening! With a little more attention to these little details, it would have been perfect.
