The Dominican Republic's Samaná Peninsula Offers a Quieter Alternative to Punta Cana

"We walked past the fish market to a row of new open-air restaurants facing the beach. Locals enjoyed just-caught seafood and Presidente beer, while a couple danced barefoot to bachata music. Scanning the chalkboard menus, we settled in at Candelita, where we ordered a typical Dominican seaside meal: fried capitán, as hogfish is known here, with a side of tostones and avocado." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Must try while visiting las terrenas. The food is outstanding. We started with ceviche, octopus as appetizer and as our main dish we had grilled fish sautéed in coconut sauce and the other in tomatoes. The coldest president in town and best coconut dessert to end with. You’ll thank me later. Bon provecho 🍽️

What an amazing spot to eat seafood! The place is outdoors in front of the beach. I have been is Las Terrenas several times, but this place is a must if you like great food. The seasoning of the food and the way they prepare it is perfect. Not a fancy spot, just a hidden gem! Prices are way better than any other spot I been too in Las Terrenas. You will see other spots next to each other, but there is only one RESTAURANT CENDELITA! You will not be disappointed! Fried Chillo (Red Snapper is simply amazing.

Don’t think about it twice. This is where Dominicans eats and it’s ran by locals not expats like many of the restaurants in town. It’s delicious, the beers were cold and the service was so great.

The food was nice, but the surprise arrived with the bills. It doesn’t make any sense that all dishes are around 10/15$ and the “pescado“ is around 100$. The menu was not clear, and they didn’t weigh the fish. All bills were overcharged and we had a very bad experience trying to understand why.
