"Lasalle’s Chez Ping may have an unconventional location — you can enter it directly from the Super C next door — but the food is traditional through and through. There’s a trilingual dim sum menu for you to choose your favourites (no cart service here) and a picture menu for “staple dishes” like noodles and rice. Don’t miss the scallop steamed dumplings or the barbecue pork cheung fan rice rolls flecked with coriander leaf, lending a brightness to this dim sum go-to." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

We are in town on business and we drive by this plaza daily on our way home and see the giant lit up PING sign ... We decided to stop in the other night to get some food as we haven't had Chinese food in a while ... When we arrive and go in we realize that the restaurant is actually closed inside and blocked off by tables just inside the doorway, and it is takeout only, going by an alternative name SHIFU (on Uber, Dash, Skip, and many others probably based on the amount of Tablets that are sitting on the counter) ... We decided to do takeout and go back to the hotel and eat ... We ordered probably entirely way too much food, but it all sounded great ... For a takeout only place the 6 menus casually thrown down on the tables blocking the restaurant seemed more faded/dirty than you would expect ... The one staff member that we dealt with was super helpful and explained a few dishes we asked about and even made suggestions in between pulling Uber orders for drivers coming in ... The food was ultimately very good, and the suggestions were appreciated 👍 Overall, I would go back and try some other menus items next time I'm in town ...

Google
So we were not really hungry for dinner. Looking for a dim sum place near verdun and Ping was the one that jumped out. Great venue. Nicely spaced tables. Very courteous and helpful staff. We ordered some dim sums, soups, and a big plate of crispy calamari for 3 persons. Total with tips about $43. No drinks. I will come back to try other plates. Try the baby squid dim sums!

Google
This was by far the most terrible, disgusting Chinese takeout experience I have ever had. $18 for a tiny portion of “peanut butter” chicken, which was actually some frozen mystery meat drenched in water that had a slight peanut flavour. No veggies, but it did come with some disgustingly sweet seaweed. If the owner is reading this, let me know when I can come back for my refund.

Google
Decent food with decent taste. Each plates are around 4.25$ so it's not that expensive. The service is decent also. The only problem I have is that some dishes were a little bit bland to me, beside that, everything was fine.

Google
Super tasty and yummy excellent service the place is just to take out no dine in but it’s worth it meal are huge you can not be finished by one person the amount of food they put is insane plus the people are so respectful and the service are good love it

Google
SCAM ALERT: ordered through Uber Eats... They advertise dumplings with sauce but you get no sauce, and you get no sides of rice with meat (eg: General Tao, etc.). Avoid avoid avoid!

Google
The best place in La Salle if you want to have Dim Sum ! The Chief cook is really good. From the outside you wouldn't expect such nice spot to enjoy Chinese good, Highly recommend !

2nd time ordering. First time was excellent. This time everything was good except for the buns that were so cooked that we couldn't eat them :( Disapointing.. I was craving that since they were so good last time

Yelp
Usually, I'm skeptical of randomly placed Chinese restos. This one is no exception--it shares a building with Super C. That to me is weird. But to my surprise, very decent Canto food. I find it $2-3 more expensive per dish than expected compared with other Chinese food places. Our uncle waiter was really friendly and originally from Hong Kong so we chatted with him in Cantonese. We ordered the 4-dish combo and added an extra dish. That came out to $83+tx. Rule of thumb is to order one dish per person when sharing and throw in a request for a large bowl of rice. The starter is a complementary bowl of carrot, greens, pork broth "soup". Yes, Asians like thin soup :P Then our food was served up pretty quick: salt & pepper white chicken, crispy garlicky fried shrimps (which were really good), bitter melon black bean beef, stir fried greens, and deep fried battered fish. Meal concluded with a complementary taro tapioca dessert soup. Overall good enough that I'd actually go back!

Yelp
I came here a few times and their food taste keep getting better! The price is a bit more expensive than the ones you find at other places, but it taste quite good and it isn't located too far. Everything is freshly made, so you you'll have to wait for a while!

Yelp
I use to come here a lot during the pandemic I tried to order did not work the name of the restaurant changed now so I order from Chez ping Monk it is so delish amazing quality and the best thing is you can order from their website and pay once they deliver with card or cash they even email you a confirmation email of your order the delivery guy is super nice the food is yummish great quality and quantity I always get the chicken fried rice chow mein catonaise pad thai and general tao chicken best ever

Yelp
Ok food, a bit more expensive than other chinese restos of the same style. We tried the garlic vermicelly scallops, the lobster and a meat dish. The scallops were good but the vermicelly were very soggy and drenched in oil. The lobster was fresh and good. The place is so random as it is located inside the super C which means there are plenty of parking spots in front. We had a good service from one lady who took our order and gave us recommandations. However, the other staff didn't really pay attention when we tried to call her several times to get the bill. The decor of the place is very old.

Yelp
Hesistated before ordering because their prices are higher than they used to be and we thought it was no longer Ping because they rebranded to Shifu but we didnt not regret our choice! Some of the best general tao i've had in a while. The soya noodles are also amazing.

Yelp
Pretty good Cantonese style Chinese restaurant. Right in front of a supermarket. We had an 10 course meal. So I can say I had a good cross cut of their food. I won't talk about each course but the notable ones. Their suckling pig was great and the crab and lobster were good. They also had this mayonnaise chicken fried with shrimp that was interesting. I have never seen that dish anywhere and I have been to more Chinese restaurants than most.

Yelp
Awesome! One of the most dependable places for good Chinese in the area. Consistency, quality and a lot of food. Love the new take out containers that give you dine-in size portions.

Yelp
I've been to this Chinese restaurant twice now when visiting my uncle in Montreal. He really likes it but I'm not quite sure why. The food is fine not really didn't strike me as amazing. The service is a bit weird... On my recent visit it seems like the later was telling us not to order the item that we ordered. We ordered it and then everybody in the restaurant looked at us like we were crazy. Not sure what that was all about. I guess they didn't know white people knew about broccoli.

Yelp
Spinach in Tonkinese Soup is a no for me. I definitely won't use the word "Authentic" to describe this place.

Yelp
I just realized I hadn't updated this review. We've since been to Chez Ping at least another 3 times (again, because my in-law's like it and it's just conveniently located for them :)) and I truly believe they improved in the past year we lived in Montreal. The steamed fish definitely improved. We even had our baby's 1-month celebration here and the service and food was great! Perhaps management does read these reviews and work on making changes (at least I'd like to think so).

Yelp
first one in the restaurant, and seated instantly, brought tea and utensils which were promptly returned. ( utensils) Dim Sum is ordered a la carte, as opposed to having carts circulating, it was served one dish at a time as soon as it came out of the kitchen, so it was hot, contrary to what one experiences from the carts on occasion. they probably need to change their cooking oil, it was a bit rank , the food was average, nothing remotely exiting about it. it filled up with Chinese, which is a good sign, obviously from the neighbourhood. the bill was quite a shock however, substantially more than I am used to paying .... if I am in Lasalle and hungry, it is where I will go to eat, having a strong preference to authentic Asian food, but do not go out of your way to eat here. Not worth the trip.

Yelp
Decent Chinese restaurant in LaSalle, with a mix of canadianized dishes and what appears to be hk style dishes. We ordered for delivery, less than 45 minutes, prices good for LaSalle. Unfortunately, will not allow dim sum to be ordered.

Yelp
Very bad services you can't order what you want because full bus of chines costumers arrives

Yelp
I was in Montreal over the weekend for a little RnR and a relative had recommended this restaurant for Dim Sum. It's in the southern part of Montreal in a neighborhood called LaSalle. Let me tell you it was on par with places in Manhattan's Chinatown. Their shrimp noodle is nice and fresh, especially the way the noodle is made. It is silkier than most places. The shrimp dumplings were nice and fat. I recommend their fire roasted suckling pork plate. The meat was nice and lean and the crispy skin was excellent. Shrimp sui mi is amazing. I recommend the dry sticky rice as well, love that stuff, but save it for last as it is very heavy and if you have it first you will not want to eat anythinge else. Their sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf was also quite yummy (filled with bits of ground prok, chinese sausage, dried shrimp and half a hard boiled egg. This place has the best dim sum in Montreal in my humble opinion. Decor is nice, with just enough chinese touches without being too overdone :-)

Yelp
I don't want to sound mean and all, but this was worst than I thought. I went there once and didn't enjoy it very much, but I didn't remember why. Everything kept disappointing me by the minute. When it was finally time to drink my favourite shark/crab fin soup, I had my hopes up but it had absolutely no taste at all and the lobster had no meat. It doesn't help that I really dislike Chinese food though.
