The Best Bars and Restaurants in Montreal’s Chinatown | Eater Montreal

"Montreal isn’t the greatest dim sum town, but Kim Fung is probably the best bet without heading to Brossard. Expect lots of classic buns, dumplings, tripe, and more, served from somewhat brusque trolley attendants. —Tim Forster"

Best breakfast Dim Sum!!perfect place for our last Morning in Montréal. We loved it!! Such a good spot for dim sum,They’ve got all the classic dishes, super tasty and fresh. The best part is the old-school carts rolling around—so fun to just pick what you want as it comes by. Great place if you’re craving traditional dim sum and want the full experience.

Google
For a guy who spends at least 2 months a year in china 3 stars is even to high. No where near the dim sum of china. Just ok. I never have it in montreal but a friend invited us so I went. Really not worth the calories.

Nothing beats nostalgia with dimsum carts! The dimsum ladies pushing the cart were super nice and friendly. 10/10 for service. I’d come back only for the dimsum cart. Food was average - the soup dumpling was cold and a lot of the items were overpriced.

Skin on hargao is too thick - my frozen supermarket ones tasted better than this. Cheong fun Charsiew tasty but cold. Xiao long Bao has no soup inside, and the skin is tough. What kind of Xiao long Bao is this? Left overs from previous days (so the soup disappeared and the skin toughened from overheated many times!?) A small and cold plate of fried rice noodles with no meat/ veg $9. No prices posted anywhere so surprise to see the bill! They have chrysanthemum tea which has no caffeine so that’s nice.. Many restaurants serve only the caffeinated jasmine or pu’er. However, they don’t refill and we have to keep asking them to refill - that’s annoying. The teapot is also small size (good for two persons maybe?) and only one pot given our group size is stingy. Also, the teapot starts to leak at the spout when you pour so the table cloth is wet everywhere. This restaurant needs to update its cutlery. I feel we didn’t have the full food experience (brought guests who enjoy dim sum for the first time). Perhaps because it’s a snow day so less patrons. Most of the items in the bamboo baskets from cart are cold and I had to request them to warm it up. Despite that, the carrot cake was served cold. There weren’t any fried pastries either so after a long time I realize that they probably didn’t put any out because the restaurant wasn’t full . Still, there were several tables on a Sunday so it’s disappointing they didn’t try to serve the existing customers. And the worst thing is, when the waiter gave me the bill, they demanded a tip and pointed to the tip amounts on the bill. I find that very rude to be told how much to give. I obligated and gave him what he wanted but left with a sour taste. Not returning.

This is our must stop dim sum place for lunch on our way to Tremblant (annual ski trip) for decades. It reminiscence of traditional Hong Kong flavored dim sum with dim sum ladies pushing the carts. Which Din Sum should I start with? Is it the crystal fresh Har Gaw, silky shrimp Rice Rolls, soft chewy beef tendons with a hint of red chilli pepper, juicy steamed Roast Pork Bun, warm soft tofu with syrup, or just everything?

One of the only Dim Sum places always ready in the morning with chinese broccoli and our favorite desserts- Doufuhua and lotus paste sesame balls. (They also have the red bean ones, but I can only eat the lotus ones.)

Google
My go to place for dim sum on weekends. Food is pretty good and portions are generous. Service is good and pricing is average but notice an increase in the last few months. In the evening we like to share 5 to 6 different dishes so we get to try different plates.

Google
They open super early compared to other spots in the area and the staff are SO friendly! Service is incredibly fast and the menu has all the classics plus some special items. The food I got on this solo breakfast trip was amazing, great flavours, fresh, and priced reasonably. The only downside is the some parts of the restaurant atmosphere could use an upgrade, the seat covers are discoloured and the entrance has piles of random things everywhere. Since I’m just here for food I’m not too fussed about that so overall still would recommend and go again!

Yelp
We had a great experience here; getting to taste high quality Chinese cuisine with a local person. We literally didn't know what our friend was ordering, but we trusted he knew what he was ordering and what's best to eat at this place. And in all fairness, everything he ordered was fresh, of high quality and tasty.

Yelp
A bit tricky to find on the mezzanine of a building, but worth the effort for a traditional dim sum brunch. The staff and the cart ladies are a stand out. Especially the Cantonese ladies who are speaking in and out of English and Mandarin. Overall a nice experience even though it's not the best I've had, I would still come back again. My favorite dish was the beef ribs.
google avatar

Stephanie O.

Yelp
Come here for dim sum! At first tricky to find its on the second floor of the building. But it has pretty much everything your dim sum dreams can hold. I got all my favorite items: siu mai, rice noodle with shrimp, fried taro, sticky rice and everything was good! The inside is spacious although the decor is old but everything was clean. They have carts and menu order as well.

Yelp
The place can be a little confusing to find. Its inside a building with asian shops on the first floor, when you go to the second floor is when you start seeing signs for the restaurant. Family friendly atmosphere, great for big groups. The staff is very helpful and gives you guidance and help with ordering since the menu is so elaborate. Definitely ask the wait staff if you feel lost. The food was delicious and came fairly fast. The har gao dimsums were delicious. The soysauce noodles, simple but very yummy, the fried prawns, fried shrimp dumplings, chinese broccoli, shrimp on green pepper were very good too. The chair linens could have been a little more cleaner. But apart from that, great place for authentic chinese dim sum meal.

Yelp
I always enjoy dim sum and love the ritual of gathering as a large family to select favorites from carts as they are wheeled throughout the restaurant. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, dining in is not an option for our family so we did take out (pre-ordered). Despite the lack of ceremony, we still enjoyed the small bites of dim sum favorites. I enjoyed: - Siu mai - the pork mixture, steamed in a won ton wrapper, was well prepared and delicious. - Har gow - rough-chopped shrimp steamed in a rice wrapper was good but not as good as the one my dad made for me just a few days earlier. - Beef rice rolls are my favorite, no matter where we go. They are served with soy sauce which is a bit sweeter than what is found in grocery stores. I also had the shrimp rice rolls, as well. - Steamed meatballs are usually velvety and light. Here there were dried out and unappealing. - Shrimp fritter dumplings of chopped shrimp with seasonings and vegetables are fried and served with mayonnaise. - Beancurd roll is another favorite, that includes meat in tofu skin that is then fried. - Ribs steamed with black beans were meaty and tasty. I don't care for some of the buns or egg tarts, but my niece and nephew seemed to enjoy them.

Yelp
This is your standard dim sum place with the servers pushing carts around. The food was solid, not the best dim sum I've ever had, but still pretty good. In particular, I enjoyed the shrimp dumplings and the tripe. The place was very packed and the tables are a bit close together. I could hear the entire conversation of the table next to us. I am all about unintentionally eavesdropping on gossip, but unfortunately I don't speak French so I'll never know why everyone was so excited. It can be a little difficult to find the place as it is located inside a small mall and you have to walk a bit. I am dinging a star for the cleanliness of the bathroom, it was fairly gross. I would recommend using the bathroom somewhere else prior to coming here just in case. Overall, I recommend this place for some solid dim sum in Montreal.

Yelp
This was the best dim sum I've had outside of Asia or the West Coast (granted I haven't had dim sum in NYC itself). Most of the other options in the area seemed like cafes that served dim sum vs a proper dim sum restaurant so we went here. It was reasonably priced, and something I had been missing from the COVID era and all the usual suspects were tasty, though nothing really stood out.

Yelp
First time here in Montreal Chinatown and decided to grab dim sum here at Chinatown kim fung. This restaurant was okay, not the best I've had but it was good. Service here was good and servers were helpful and attentive.
google avatar

Jas S.

Yelp
Love the carts! You'll find all the classic dim sum items. Pork with ginger dumpling was the stand out for us. While we didn't have to wait to get a table, we were tucked away by the window, so our service experience suffered (-1 star). Decor is dated and cleanliness could be better. First Chinese place which had American table mustard. However, the prices were very reasonable (+1 star).
google avatar

Yelp
This is our second visit to this place. The first visit was 16 years ago. Since then, the place looks run down and dated. The food was alright but the restrooms were disgusting. Makes me wonder if the restrooms are gross, how clean is the kitchen?! There is better dim sum in Toronto and NYC similar to the ones in Asia. I don't get how this place is recommended on the guide books!

Yelp
Came back here after 6 years, the food is still good, ambiance has declined, and there was a coldness in service that I didn't experience before... i think I'd give it a go one more time before I decide if I pass in the future.

Rita N.

Yelp
The Dim Sum was awesome Fresh vegetables Dumplings were perfect like little pieces of perfection...lite and lean Sticky rice was gooey and delicious Service was really good and attentive Only lack is it needs a face lift And that's easy .... I would totally recommend ....

Yelp
This was inside a plaza on the 2nd floor. I just hope that their dim sum is made differently than what we are used to. We definitely didnt like the general dim sum dishes that we ordered or they were dry to us. Given that there werent many dim sum restaurants around in the middle of chinatown. We expected this to be one of the better dim sum places since they advertised about dim sum, but we were not happy with the food.

John D.

Yelp
The food was average at best. They try to over charge us! 1/2 roast duck is $40CA!?!?!... WTF! That is ~$28US! I pay $25US for a whole Duck in Brooklyn NY. They are over charging out of town visitors or any one who does not speak Cantonese. Which is total BS. I know the game b/c I played it when I was a juvenile delinquent in my teens.

Mark C.

Yelp
Food was really good and authentic but a little overpriced. Restaurant is nice but worn.

Wendy H.

Yelp
Came in on a Thursday for lunch and service was extremely slow even though it was not busy. There was only one lady pushing carts and this other lady came to push another cart. When we asked her what she have in her cart, she ignored us and kept pushing the cart away. Food was mediocre and the beef tripe was super hard. Unable to chew at all and this plate cost $9. Extremely overpriced for a few pieces of inedible beef tripe. We paid for two dim sum and left. Not sure how this place have high ratings. Do not recommend.

Yelp
We were shopping in China town and we asked a local for a place they recommended and they steered us here. The business was a packed and the lines were long but we didn't wait more than ten minutes before they called our number. I would say it's chaotic and not exactly fancy but I love that, and I loved the atmosphere. The food was GREAT and priced fairly. People weren't overly friendly but they were so busy I think that's excusable. Really dig this place.

Mel K.

Yelp
Terrible experience, came early on a Saturday and it was fairly empty with barely any carts of food available. They brought out tea, and when I requested pu-erh (bou-lei) instead, she tried to tell me jasmine tea is the same thing. The har gow fell apart when I tried to pick it up, same with the turnip cake. Nothing was fresh or good quality. Then when paying the bill she acted like she couldn't count the cash and tried to get a huge tip. Disappointing as this was listed as one of the better places to go in Montreal.
google avatar

Thuy B.

Yelp
The restaurant is well located in China downtown in Montreal. Food was very good. Try the dim sum for lunch. The special food for dinner was so good. Service very fast. We love the experiences.

Yelp
Fellow YELPERS why does this place not have a 5 rating or at least a 4 !! We came here for DIMSUM as we do whenever we visit any City as part of our family tradition and we were not disappointed at all. Surprisingly we did not have too long a wait. The place was packed as one would expect on a Sunday afternoon. I love the hustle and bustle of watching the carts go by and everyone picking their dishes as we did! We tried a bunch of stuff and wanted to try so much more but we would have burst! I just wish the boys were with us so we could have tried more stuff but all in all we had a great lunch and walked a mile back to our hotel just to burn some of the calories off lol! Fellow YELPERS when in Montreal this is the place to come to for GREAT AUTHENTIC DIMSUM!!

Yelp
Excellent dim sum in Montreal Chinatown! We came on a week day afternoon and it was very busy with a lively atmosphere but our party of six was seated right away and served food immediately. All the staples were done right, especially the har gow and char siu bao, my favorite though were the lobakgo turnip cakes with taro. It's a little hidden on the second floor of an unassuming building but definitely a must try dim sum spot

Leia O.

Yelp
Excellent! Everything is spot on. The steamed razor clams were especially yummy. Staff was every helpful and nice. Just do NOT use the bathroom

Yelp
Where I work, they had decided to organize a dim sum to celebrate Chinese New Year so I decided to attend. Normally I wouldn't attend such a thing not because I don't like dim sum but because in the department where I work, the lunch period is somewhat strict as opposed to the other departments where it isn't as strict. However, the day that they picked for the event was on a Friday and it was the same day as I had off (after having come back from a vacation in Las Vegas) so I decided to go since I wouldn't have to worry about how long I was away for lunch. I haven't been to this place in ages. Normally when I have dim sum in Montreal, I would either go to Ruby Rouge (in Chinatown) or Tong Por (which is in the Saint-Laurent or Cartierville area). The place wasn't too crowded when we showed up. I'm not sure if this was because of the recent news with China affecting businesses or whether this place just normally isn't too crowded for a Friday lunch/afternoon. Excluding our 2 tables, there were another 2 large tables being used (and the restaurant was over 50% empty). This place has the dim sum in carts where the workers will push the carts and announce the items on their cart in either Mandarin or Cantonese as well as show the items to people who weren't sure what they were. We were a large group of over 23 people so our party used 2 large tables. In our table, we ordered various dim sum items. It was all good. At the end, we divided the bill evenly and with tip, I paid $16 and was quite satisfied without being stuffed. Everything that I had tasted good for dim sum items and comparable to the other 2 Montreal dim sum places that I've visited. I'm not sure how much each of the plates costs since the paper that they used to write what we ordered was on the other side of the table but I found the price to be very good for what I had to eat. One last thing is that the outside of the restaurant which is on the second floor shows the name "Kam Fung" and not "Kim Fung" so I'm not sure which is accurate. I've always known this place to be "Kam Fung" but I know that "Kim" and "Kam" can be a different dialect/pronunciation of the same Chinese character.

Yelp
My favorite spot for their chow mein! So delicious and the portion is huge! Before covid, I always went there for their dim sums. So good and so fresh, i enjoyed it very much. However, i was a bit disappointed when i came in because the cashier didn't had his mask on... Other than that, i highly recommend it! The price is perfect for the portion you get. When covid will be over, i'll be the first back for the dim sum!

Yelp
Me and my family arrived at Montreal on a Friday afternoon, excited to check out Canada's dim sum. We found ourselves extremely dissapointed with the dim sum. The churn fun was mushy, the sticky rice was mushy. The chicken feet were mostly ankle parts and was bland and oversteamed. The egg tarts were mediorce, according to my friend. Basically, everything was mushy. It seemed like they just steamed and served dishes that did not sell the day(s) before. Me and my family immediately got the bill and went to finish our lunch elsewhere.

Yelp
We came to this restaurant and were given order form and pencil and we ordered some of the dim sum that we ordinarily like to have. Soon after, little by little, some of the food carts start to appear and we would have much preferred to order directly from these carts since you order exactly what you see. Where is this concept of customer service to greet and inform guests that we can use these order forms, in addition to ordering directly from the food carts that would be passing by? Do we need to spell out that little ones cannot use chopsticks and need a fork instead? Big sigh... On a positive note, we requested to have our paper order cancelled and were pleasantly surprised that our waiter told us that was the right move, and rushed to the kitchen to ensure that our orders get voided. Everything that we picked up from the food cart were delicious and well prepared, but then again, this is what is expected from a dim sum restaurant as we would not be expecting anything less. Although our table was great, It appears that some of the other tables are in a more strategic spot, and less effort is needed to make yourself noticed in order that the food cart finds its way to you. So, next time I will scout the dining area before getting seated.

Yelp
My buddies and I took a trip to Montreal and heard this was one of the best dim sum restaurants in the city. However, I found myself really disappointed with everything here. Maybe there was too much hype and build up or maybe the standards for Chinese food are different here but I just was not impressed. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a mall-like building. It was a little hard to find at first as you can't enter from the outside but have to go through the mall to get to the restaurant entrance. Inside was a little grungy and slightly dirty. However, I was actually ok with that. That seems like the norm for most great tasting authentic Chinese restaurants. The thing I was not ok with was the amount of flies constantly buzzing about. When you have to continually protect the food you're eating it's unacceptable. As for the food itself, it wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't good. Portions were small and it tasted bland compared to dim sum you'd get in places like SF, LA, and NY. It might have even been worse than those fast food take out dim sum.
google avatar

Nancy H.

Yelp
Food was pretty good but not as good as I temembered, maybe it was because we arrived in a slower hour. Still very decent though, though prices seem to have risen over the years. The congee was a bit too salty. The lava buns were undercooked and pale but the inside was delicious, hot, and did flow like it should! The pork ribs were very fatty but personally I didn't mind, some people might not like that. Gailan was predictable and good, as were the hargao. My parents did comment at the end that everything tasted a bit off somehow, as if they were putting in too much salt or msg. Service was decent and we were seated fairly promptly (again, came at a slow time), but in the past the wait times can get very long! Overall I'd say the food is still okay but it is no longer going to be my go to place for dim sum.
google avatar

Andrea D.

Yelp
I give their dim sum lunch 5 stars and here's why: - huge selection of dishes brought to you on a cart (no menu, and that's part of the fun!) - once seated, service is very good - dimsum dishes are fresh and varied (my advice: stick to the dimsum) - price is very very reasonable - good for groups Dinner is very different and for the price, I wouldn't recommend. I'd really just come here for their dim sum lunch.
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
Unbelievably deliciously satisfying!!! The best dim sum in Montreal's Chinatown. The shrimp dishes are my favorite items from any dim sum and this place absolutely rocks with its hai cao, shu mai and shrimp crab claw. I would be a regular if I lived here! *** BEWARE: there is a discrepancy with the name of this restaurant - Kam Fung or Kim Fung it's the same place!
google avatar

Yelp
Situated on saint-urbain street, it's one of the most popular restaurant in Chinatown in my opinion. It's hidden in the building; prepare to get lost going there. Hint: it's on the second floor. We went there for dim sum; which is basically Chinese brunch. It's small ready to serve dishes; mostly steamed and fried food. Almost always served with tea. We had pretty much all the good stuff of dim sum. We had the fried dough and the shrimp wrapped in rice noodle. Shaomai; which are steamed dumplings with pork and prawns. Shrimp dumplings, tofu skin rolls which is exactly what it sounds like with pork fillings, fried tofu filled with shrimp, and stir fried noodles. We also shared congi which is basically a rice soup. Everything was just delicious! I'm a dim sum lover person so I might be biased. They also have a variety of dessert but we were so full after. We just took some egg tart. Now you might ask how much did all this cost? They charge you per dishes you take but trust me everything is very cheap. We were 8 people and it ended up 13$ per person. PS: if it's your first time going for dim sum. I suggest you bring your Asian friend or someone who has been to dim sum. The waiters/waitresses are friendly but their English/French are not the best and sometimes it's hard to understand. So having that one friend can help a lot. Especially if they know what's good or not :P
google avatar

Hubert T.

Yelp
The staff here have a mix of people who can speak Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese, as well as both English/French; so whether you are unilingual/bilingual/chinese speaking only, you'll feel quite welcome here. Be aware that Montréal is a very cosmopolitan city!.... the staff here will assume you know how to use chopsticks, you have to specifically ask if you want a fork. For Dim Sum brunch, they have the usual classics, their Har Gao, Shui Mai, Bao, Congee, Honeyed Tofu, and Hong Kong style Egg Tarts are excellent. If you are coming for brunch on the weekend, arrive before 09:00AM or you'll be sitting in one of the *eight* benches outside the restaurant waiting for a table! The Dim Sum themselves are served both ways, you can order using a checklist, or you can graze as carts come by your table. In addition to the classic Jasmine tea, they also serve Oolong, you just have to specifically ask for it. Don't by shy either about specifying which table you would like to seated at either, they're sometimes a bit disorganized when it comes to seating customers. Outside of brunch hours, they also have a full menu: a simple but very good selection is getting a duck with a platter of singapore style vermicelli and a platter of young-chou style fried rice. Delicious! The prix fixé combo menu is decent, but you should really explore the à la carte menu, there are lots of gems to discover there.

Yelp
Our hotel is a few blocks from Montreal's Chinatown so of course we planned on having dim sum (which in my opinion is much better in Canada than it is in NYC). Yelp had this rated highly and I can see why. Located on the second floor of a strip mall, this place isn't all fancy looking but it's the food that counts, right? Shumai and shrimp dumplings were fresh and steaming and chock full of meat and shrimp. Fried taro cake was also excellent and pan fried to perfection. Shrimp noodles were delicate and the XO sauce cheong fun was sautéed perfectly. This restaurant even has individual sized Chinese sausage rice or pork rib rice originally cooked in a clay pot. The best thing however was the warm egg custard tarts which got rave reviews from the kiddies. Excellent dim sum and extremely reasonable (4 of us got stuffed on 55 bucks Canadian, can't beat that).

Yelp
Came this to place for dim sum with the family. I'd recommend coming earlier in the day because it gets packed really quickly. You'll find all the amenities that is included in dim sum here! Great har gao (shrimp ball), shu mai (pork dumpling), etc etc. Everything is fresh and hot. My favorites are definitely the cha leung, sorry if I'm spelling it wrong, but it's the Chinese bread stick wrapped around rice noodle. The chicken feet are pretty good. Also the lo mai kai (sticky rice) is really yummy. Service here is pretty good, the earlier you come the better the service since it'll be less busy! But also they are pretty good at getting you in a timely manner. It's probably one of the best dim sum places in Montreal that I've been to recently. I would definitely recommend coming here with your family and friends.

Yelp
My hunch is that one's love for Kim Fung depends on where you come from. Because this is solid, if not stand out dim sum. However, it comes on carts! For those of us in smaller towns where dim sum carts are nonexistent, the cart experience is a treat. And I would absolutely recommend this place for anyone coming from a cart deprived part of the world. If you are visiting Montreal from New York, San Francisco, or Los Angeles, this spot is totally skippable. The silky hot tofu pudding with sweet ginger sauce was the big winner of the day. It's one of my long time favorites, and Kim Fung rocked it. Plus my daughter had never tried this dish before, and now she is a fan. My son can eat two plates of the rice noodle wrapped donut. And he did. Had it not been for the oddly stiff meatballs and getting a seat in the back room away from the action and the beauty of the main parlor, this would have been an even better experience. However, the overall rating would not change. Regardless, when we return to Montreal, this dim sum parlor will again be a destination. However, next time, I'm going to stop in early for just a few plates and a pot of tea. Hopefully I'll be able to convince my family to enjoy a progressive meal throughout Chinatown, as we nosh on soup dumplings, hand pulled noodles, and sweets from some of the other nearby shops.

Yelp
Hidden spot inside a brown corner building. Food was really good. Their chowmein was delicious. Service was disappointing. On their entrance door it says "master card, visa, etc". When we were ready for the bill, one of the employees said it was cash only and to go downstairs and use the Hong Kong atm... and made us sit at our table awkwardly waiting. I then asked the lady at the front and saw their debit machine and asked why he said it was "cash only" she said no no we accept everything. I then asked the guy why he lied and forced us to pay cash. His response "oh I give you special price for cash" Long story short... So Unacceptable. Ended up paying with visa and no tip. Sorry not sorry. Never going back here again.

Yelp
For starter - the dim sums were pretty good here. We ordered from the kitchen, therefore the food came out hot in comparison to room temperature from the usual cart. The majority of the dim sums was definitely up to par. Now you are probably wondering...why the 1 star for such good foods? Two words - forced tips. I brought our ticket up to the counter, and paid for our meal. When the waitress noticed I did not have much change left, she insisted that I leave a tip. I tried to explain to her that my party will leave the tip on the table (you know, I treat you to the meal you leave the tip kind of deal?). I kid you not, this waitress tried to grab my change from the cashier. What the heck? I did not care for her actions, so I interjected and took my change. Then she proceed to stalk me back to my table. What the heck again??? I told my party of the story, and we decided to not tip her the usual 20% because what she did was extremely intimidating and rude. However, our waitress started to complain of the amount, and kept telling us to give her more. What the heck three times??? Tipping is up to the customer's discretion. I have NEVER been to a restaurant that uses this method. I work in retail myself, and NEVER did such thing. We felt trapped and at one point...harassed. Good food be damned, but with that kind of customer service...bye.

Yelp
Food: 7/10 Serves: 9/10 Noise: 8/10 Space: 10/10 This is a good dim sum place, reminds me a lot of Houston... with the vibe it gives off... satisfied with this visit, although I didn't have high expectations! Probably would come back again...

Yelp
I do not give a restaurant 4-stars often, but a friend brought us here claiming it is one of the best restaurant ever. Mainly specializing in dumplings, the four of us decided to each order dishes and share with everyone. The good: First of all the service was really friendly and really good. Food came out quickly. Food is fresh and hot. Jasmin tea is simply perfect and soothing. Everything is fresh snd you can taste it. Veggies cooked perfectly. Honestly... the food was awesome. Lots of tables and chairs. Owner also very friendly. The bad: Bathroom sketchy. The restaurant is located in a mall, and difficult to get to if you do not know the way. Chairs are low. Menus are overwhelming if you have no idea what you want. Some food, you have no idea what they are (in menu). Parking inside might be difficult, exiting also. Seriously, this is a great chinese place in the middle of Chinatown. A definite try. I know we will return.

Yelp
I just had lunch with a group of 16 people. Decided to organize a spontaneous lunch and made a reservation which turned out to be a good decision: this place is packed on Sunday for lunch! Long queues when we arrived, yet we breezed through... A few of us decided to have dim sum lunch and the rest ordered a dinner for 8 which could easily have fed 11 people for lunch. A variety of veggies, chicken, fried fish, shrimp were devoured. Everybody loved it. Dim sum was pretty standard, not the best quality I've ever had, yet good enough. Service was fast and fine. Nothing fancy schmancy, but overall good experience

Yelp
Came here with some friends while visiting Montreal for lunch. This place was pretty hard to find as it was on the top floor in a random building. Just walk into the building that your GPS takes you and keep going up and you should see it. Dim sum here was solid. Was impressed by the stir fry noodles from the cart that gets pushed around with more family style kitchen dishes. Besides that, service was fine and the staple dim sum dishes were good.

Yelp
Very disappointing. We ordered four different types of dumplings and wonton soup among other stuff but all the wontons had the same feeling and tasted exactly the same.

Yelp
One of your traditional dim sum places that still utilize carts. It was also quite difficult to find this plwce- asked a few locals for help. This place was okay- definitely had better dim sum before, but the service was good here. I didn't try too many dishes, but one I would avoid is the shu mai here. It didn't stand out to me- much better choices available at this place. Pork ribs, beancurd wrapped, and egg tarts were pretty good here. We also ordered a pork crispy pan fried noodles, and it was a bit of a let down. It didn't have the "wok" smell to it, and it was kinda strange they added peppers to the dish. Also, they didn't serve it with vinegar on the side like they do at other places. Good portion size though. Overall, food was a bit pricey here, but not bad when craving dim sum.

Yelp
In all fairness, the quality of the food it's not bad, but when I paid the bill, a female manager suspected that the tip I gave her is not enough (i should gave ~7 but i gave her 6), accompanied by her impolite attitude and threatened me and pointed out that I did not understand the rules, the experience of paying the bill it's terrible, I have to give such feedback.i definitely not gonna come here again.

Yelp
I've been here about 5 years ago with a big group and remember liking it but I went this past weekend and we were a party of two. There was a line up but we got seated fairly quickly however they put us in a corner and the dim sum carts never passed by. We had to wait so long to get a look at an item. It was so discouraging that we left still hungry. I didn't have the patience to wait anymore. Food was ok. Nothing special. Definitely not coming back.

Yelp
What a surprising restaurant. All kinds of food. In a trolly. Pick what you want. Eat your fill

Yelp
Best dim sum in town, bar none!!! I have been going to this restaurant since 1986 so I may be biased but a restaurant that last over 30yrs must be doing something right. They serve dim sum pretty much every day from 10-3 and expect lineups from 12-2pm on weekends but it is worth the wait. The food is always fresh and hot and don't be afraid to try new stuff as it is all really good (except maybe the chicken feet...lol) I usually order beef balls, the shrimp claws, sticky rice, and some vegetables. Other popular dishes are the fried egg rolls and chewy octopus. However my favourite is the Wu Gok which is a potato pastry (not a dessert). Beware it is very filling so be sure you are still hungry if you order it. For dessert the sesame balls (one order of the ones filled with red bean paste and one of lotus). Wash everything down with piping hot Chinese tea. Can't wait to go back. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g155032-d706530-r369704956-Kim_Fung-Montreal_Quebec.html#

Yelp
5 stars for classic Dim Sum. If you are looking for the classic cart rolling, fast pace, authentic Dim Sum, this is the place. They have a full menu to choose from, but it is hard to find fresh and abundant Dim Sum.

Yelp
First tip: arrive early. We got there around 12h30. By the time that we left at 13h14, there was a line-up out the door and around the corner. Go in the door on St-Urbain, take the escalator up to the second floor and turn right. Second tip: keep track of how many dishes you order. Not 100% sure that we were only charged for what we ordered. They don't charge for tea, which is good. Décor is standard Chinese. My hostess asked whether I had been here before; honestly, I might have been but hard to tell. It looks like every other Chinese dim sum you've ever visited. Cart service (yay!). Not everything that one would expect. No shrimp spring rolls. The sticky rice was only okay (some grains were unpleasantly hard). Har gow, BBQ pork pastry and siu mai were the standard versions. Dim sum for four without drinks was north of $80 before taxes.

Yelp
Came here just before it closed in the afternoon. The staff took pity on us so they let us in. No carts so ordered off the list which I prefer anyway so I was fine with that. Dim sum was really good! The standout one for me was the vegetarian bean curd roll (?). I've had the non vegetarian versions at many dim sum places and I've never seen a vegetarian version before. This one was sooooo good. Loved it! The dim sum items were fresh and tasty so I'm pretty happy about my experience here.
