Nice restaurant in a nice area of Hamburg. Some interest food selection and they also serve seasonal dishes. Friendly and helpful staff that makes dining there even more enjoyable. Gets really busy and reservations definitely recommended.

Beautiful place with a small but terrific menu. Enjoyed everything and will most certainly be back.

It is a cosy restaurant. We booked a table in advance: it was a good decision as it became quite full later on. The staff is rather disorganised, chaotic, so it took some time to attract waiter’s attention to make our order. The bread was fresh and served with butter. The taste was good. We ordered ravioli with spinach and ricotta. It was served on the broth with mushrooms and topped with Parmesan (why?). The taste of broth was good, ravioli itself average. Total rating: nothing special. Priced 18.- euro We ordered rump steak. Charged 32,- it was served with chips and some vegetables. It was just a disaster. The feeling of chewing a dole of a rubber boot. Too tough. Why to offer such meal (meat quality) in such a fine restaurant. We were disappointed. Water in a carafe 200 ml charged 2.5 euro about. Boh! Bad value for money. Too expensive for what you get.

This is our second time in this restaurant. very nice atmosphere. balanced taste of the dish. service at the highest level. we arrived 2 minutes before the restaurant closed, but even despite this we were fed and received very warmly. 01.11.2023

A fantastic restaurant with great service, excellent food, and setting. Each dish on the menu has personality and demonstrates a mastery of bistro-cuisine. From a diverse range of wines and juices, through to creative dishes such as the boar sausages, this restaurant caused all 6 members of my group to absolutely clean our plates. The waitresses were excellent and made the whole experience smooth, accommodating easily for English speakers as well. A lovely experience and I look forward to visiting again.

Elegant interior and an enticing menu with a great selection of wines are offered here. Out of the three meals, two were excellent. The third, roasted saddle of a juvenile wild boar, was delicious in general, yet the meat disappointed. Mind you, it was perfectly well prepared, yet the quality in itself did not fulfill the expectations one would have for a juvenile boar. We were, however, pleasantly surprised when the staff invited us to two extra desserts as apology, which were extremely yummy again!

Excellent French/International food in St Georg. Good value for money. As other reviews have mentioned this restaurant is cash only - has been the case for many months and is something that should really be fixed for the convenience and Covid-19 safety of diners.

Great food and delightful service. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Hamburg.

My last night in Hamburg I was searching for an authentic German restaurant and found this one a short walk from my Le Méridien Hamburg hotel. I didn't have a reservation but was seated within 5 minutes of what looked like their busiest hour--8:00pm. I had the fish pike perch which was delicious! I'm so glad I stopped here.

Excellent local ingredients...comfort food for an American in Hamburg. Every course is excellent every time I've been (three times now).

It's bigger inside than it seems, many white tables, and fully booked at dinnertime. Don't come without a reservation. Food and service are superb here; a confidently limited set of dishes, creative food without going overboard, generous portions, and not too expensive for what you get either. Everything feels pleasantly un-rushed, making this a nice place to dine out with a little time. Same goes for the wines: a very tasteful selection, and all sized and priced so you'll be happy to order more. Nailed it, don't change the concept! :)

Reservations are suggested but they were still able to seat our party of 4 when we walked in. The menu is in German. We enjoyed fricassee of chicken, white asparagus (seasonal item here) with ham, and German beer and wine. You pay for water which is served in a glass bottle (natural or still means without carbonated bubbles). We appreciated that they notified us that they were out of certain menu items and had substitutes to offer (i.e. alternate beef and fish entrees).

Cox was recommended by a local. That's clearly the best way. It's a beautify old building. High ceilings, glass open frontage plenty of natural light. No outdoor seating. They don't need to be trendy, they are intimate and the food speaks for itself (in both a classic and classy way without attitude). I was brought bread with butter and a salt shaker to start. To begin I chose the cold roast beef with fried potatoes and not sure what dressing but oh wow ! Even at this stage it's clear that if I lived locally I would be a regular. This is where you bring a date to impress her (if she's a foodie) trust me it will impress! As I wait for my main I try another piece of bread yes, the salt does enhance the flavour. Also my very attentive waitress steps outside and charmingly slouches against the door frame to peruse the street for a moment before turning and coming back in. I really really like it here! I know I'm not writing a novel here but as I sip my German rose while sitting alone it's impossible not to drink in the atmosphere. The wine is delicious btw. Esp in this humid heat. My main was essentially Fish w beets but the menu listing was more eloquent. When I was having trouble deciding on my main. When I asked her favourite the waitress said she liked this item because of its freshness. Very apt. I'm not stopping there. (Btw I Never do 3 courses of dinner!) As I sit here enjoying my own thoughts I notice the couple in the (frosted) window table holding hands. Take note men, That's where you want to sit with your romantic dates. Dessert, well I'm not really a fan I just got carried away. The chocolate sauce and vanilla custard I think it was Accompanying were really delicious. The Tort was nice. Just not really my thing. Although I enjoyed the pastry casing in which it was served and the nutty texture. This was one of my stand out dining experiences in Germany. Highly recommended!

Reliable old standby for me in Hamburg, as I find myself there at least once a year. Excellent menu, nicely prepared & presented. In St. Georg, which has a Villagey, Bleecker/Christopher feel. Decor & atmosphere remind me a bit of Odeon back home in NY.

Spent a very pleasant evening here recently. We were holding a small celebratory dinner with 5 business colleagues. The ambience was relaxed, friendly but just formal enough to make it appropriate for this event. Cox has a French feel to it with a menu and wines to match and what looks like a decent small bar alongside, though we didn't get chance to use it (the restaurant was very accommodating given that we put back our arrival by 1.5 hours!).

Went here for a business dinner and was pleasantly surprised. I had read many of the good reviews on here and wasn't expecting much. Thankfully I walked out happy. It's a really nice room and a good place for business or private meals. Service was polite and very professional. The menu is higher-end than most places on or near the Lange Reihe. We were quite happy with both our appetisers and main courses and had a great bottle of wine to go with it.....a recombination from the waiter. I'll definitely be back here when entertaining out of town business guests. I also would come with my wife for a romantic dinner. A really solid place which has established itself over the years and is well frequented. I highly recommend reserving a table if you do come.

The food at this place is great and creative! I guess one of the most fun kitchens and quality on the Lange Reihe... With regards to service they can definitely improve and I leave it at that... The restaurant is simply worth a visit!!!

I have to admit, I was intrigued by the menu featuring a salad with carmel corn. Salad was great and Iberian pork fabulous. Service was also very good. Enjoyed the meal.

Das Restaurant is einfach genial! Sehr schön, wirklich leckeres Essen mit einer super Präsentation, und vor allem echt nette Bedinung!! Wir waren zur viert, zwie hatten nur ein Hauptgericht bestellt und die zwei andere Hauptgericht+Vorspeisen. Die Kellner sind einfach mit zwei extra Mini-Vorspeisen angekommen, damit die zwei mit Vorspeisen nicht allein essen. Das war einfach Klasse. Die Preise sind ein bisschen höher als normal. Wobei ist es nicht übertrieben für die Qualität vom Essen und vom Service! (ca. 18-25eur für ein Hauptgericht). Dieses Lokal ist wirklich zu emfehlen!
