Restaurant de la Plage

Absolutely fabulous! Had dinner here with my son and daughter on 21 August 2024. The oysters for starters were superb and the turbot for the main course was one of the best meals I have had in France this year. I will be back!

Update Dec 2023. Once again been for the most delicious lunch here. Service is impeccable, wine suggestions were spot on and the food was as good as I've eaten in any Michelin 1 star restaurant. Cannot recommend this place enough. A real diamond!! ********* 2022 Best in Boulogne.... this place is an absolute diamond. If i was told it had One Michelin star id believe it. Don't bother go anywhere else....it will not/cannot beat this (and I've tried most if the options) Unpretentious and personal service from husband and wife Team. Whoever is in the kitchen is a fantastic talent. The combinations are creative and delicious. To have on the same plate the most beautiful turbot, sea bass AND foie gras (cooked) is beyond indulgent but wow was it amazing. The stater of scallops, crayfish, salmon in a creamy sauce was a triumph too. Wine list is varied with great recommendations from the main man at very decent prices Also, they make a real effort to speak English to members of our group that didn't speak any French. What a delightful meal. Will be back every time I pass here without exception....

Lovely fresh seafood. Lots of choices even with set menu. Especially the starters, we really enjoyed the oysters, foie gras, crab avocado in a dill vinegarette dressing. Great service.

An 80th birthday meal and experience to remember. What a treat. Brilliant proposition for lunch by a knowledgable, very patient and understanding owner, which really made our day. The food, wine and service were impeccable. We were so pleased with our visit to the Restaurant de la Plage and would have no hesitation in recommending this fine establishment to anyone visiting Boulogne who wishes to experience French cuisine at its finest.

We had dinner last night at this establishment. We were a party of 6. We were greeted at the door and asked if we had a reservation. We made a reservation online. The woman showed us to our table. Another party of 6 showed up and shortly after us. There wasn't a table available for them so the host came over to our table and asked if he could see our confirmation of our reservation. It went downhill from there with his rudeness! He told my husband, "you don't board a flight without confirming a reservation" as my husband was looking for the confirmation. They managed to get a table together for the other party. My husband apologized and offered to pay him a drink. He was flustered and huffy! He made nasty comments about how we ordered our wine. He kept snapping his glasses together as they snapped at his nose bridge. He completely soured our evening. The food was mediocre, nothing that special. His attitude completely stunk!!! That was definitely a one and DONE visit!!!!! Good luck to you if you go.

The restaurant La Plage in Boulogne is an experience within itself: reuniting excellent food, sometimes audacious but highly successful associations that transform a meal into a discovery. The latter is accompanied by an expert choice of wines by the owner and sommelier Mr Wacogne who seduces your palate with his description of the meal and wine even before you can taste them! When you do so your expectations are more than outweighed and you are already looking forward to your next visit... The restaurant manages to balance this excellence with a sincere and unpretentious gift of hospitality in a restaurant that boasts works of the local artist Michel Chemin creating an atmosphere that reflects the very best of Boulogne. I cannot speak highly enough of La Plage.

Exceptional restaurant. Great personal service from what I guess is the owner and wife but the fish dishes are out of this world. Highly recommend.

Great meal even on the Amical menu. Lovely bottle of wine and the ambiance was commensurate with the meal. Host was very welcoming and knowledgeable

Good food but the owner was extremely rude and disrespectful. I made a reservation online and it said pending so we decided to go and chance it. When we arrived they asked my last name and said ok. Then 20mn later asked if we made a reservation and i said yes. The owner proceeded by making some rude remarks since another party of 6 showed up. I offered to pay for a round of drinks but he refused. My reservation was never accepted nor rejected so next time I would recommend that the owner checks his online reservation to let his customers know the status of their reservation. I have never felt so belittled in front of my friends.
