Restaurant El Nene

Beautiful location very close to the beach with a fine dining style ambiance. The space is well designed, relaxed, and feels elevated compared to most places in the area. Service was good overall. Attentive and polite, though not particularly memorable. I ordered one of the burgers and it was very good. The only downside was that they did not have fries available, so it came with a salad instead, which was a bit of a letdown. My wife ordered the fish of the day, and we both felt it could have had more flavor, especially considering the price point. Prices are slightly higher than most restaurants nearby, with the exception of a Michelin restaurant close by, so expectations naturally go up. Where El Nene really shines is dessert. The dessert was incredible and easily the highlight of the meal. Rich, well balanced, and beautifully presented. Overall, it is a nice spot with a great setting and excellent desserts. Worth visiting, but the main dishes could use a bit more refinement to fully justify the pricing.

The Food (5/5): The food here is simply sensational—honestly some of the best I’ve had in Puerto Escondido. The Tuna Tostadas and Baja Tacos are next-level; the house-made mayo and fresh, citric prep show a level of detail you won't find elsewhere. Don’t skip the Chocolate Mousse—the texture is flawless. While prices are on the higher end for PXM, the ingredient quality makes it completely worth it. The Experience (3/5): While the kitchen is fast, the service felt disorganized on this visit. As a solo diner, I felt a bit overlooked compared to larger groups, and it took 8 minutes just to order a drink. In a community-driven town like PXM, it’s disappointing to see service quality fluctuate based on party size or background. Small details like bag hooks were also missing. My server was Alex as per my receipt. Verdict: I’ll definitely be back because the food is unparalleled, but I’m hoping the front-of-house eventually catches up to the chef's incredible standards

Felt like I was in Hawaii. We came back twice and might honestly go again. The catch of the day (mahi mahi) with the cream sauce is unbelievable. Same with the tuna steak, blackened with the ponchu sauce - sweet and spicy. The cost for the quality and quantity of food was crazy. The cocktails were amazing too and a good price for the quality and presentation. Had their drink features twice and a couple off the menu. Finishing off with carajuillos!

Beautiful atmosphere and amazing food! El Nene is probably one of the prettiest restaurants in Puerto Escondido. We had dinner at the bar and received excellent service from the bartender. The food was great, the ambiance is gorgeous, and the espresso martinis were fantastic. A perfect spot for a relaxing, stylish evening out.

The food at this restaurant was absolutely extraordinary. We travel a lot, and without a doubt this place has entered our top 3 restaurants worldwide. We usually never visit the same restaurant twice during our holidays, but here we made an exception - and both visits went far beyond our expectations. We tried the steaks, octopus, and fish entrées, and every dish was cooked to perfection. The cocktails were also amazing, beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The staff is fantastic, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that truly elevates the whole experience. Highly recommended - a place we will always remember and happily return to.

Such amazing food, people, and atmosphere! Absolutely one of our favorite dinner spots in PE. The food and drinks were some of the best we had during our trip and that’s saying something because almost all of the food in PE is superb. The vibe was chill and the service outstanding! Highly recommend their catch of the day. Will definitely be coming back!

January 2026 - Another lovely meal, great atmosphere, excellent cocktails, perfectly cooked and tasty Mahi Mahi, perfectly cooked and tasty Tuna, exceptional service by Maria, Alex and Alec. Best restaurant team in Puerto. We will be back very soon. January 2025 - Five of us dined at El Nene.  Different cocktails, pork shank, Pulpo, BBQ shrimp, beef tacos, and the service were all impeccable. We can't wait to return next January.

Really nice place and I think one of the best rated places in this town. They had really good service and the food was served quick. The food and drinks were very good. It's definitely a must try.
