I dined at this Michelin-recommended restaurant in Korčula with my partner, looking forward to a memorable fine dining experience. The menu (€106 per person) offered only three main course options: lamb, beef, or “whitefish,” which turned out to be blue shark (verdesca).
For a restaurant of this level and location, having shark as the sole fish option felt disappointing. Beyond the ethical considerations linked to this species, it seemed misaligned with the expectations of a refined seaside menu. I would have hoped to see a local fish that better reflects the Adriatic’s culinary heritage. As a result, I had to opt for meat instead of the seafood I came for.
The other dishes were competently prepared and attractively presented — the gnocchi with carrots, potatoes, and scampi, for instance, looked beautiful on the plate — but in terms of flavor they did not leave a lasting impression. Service, however, was kind and attentive.
Overall, the experience did not quite justify its promise or price. With a more thoughtful choice of seafood, this restaurant could truly live up to the expectations set by its Michelin mention.
