Goyvaerts

"Jip, Yelle and Jesse Goyvaerts have set up shop in the heart of Eindhoven, in Domusdela, a converted church that has retained its serenity. Inside, the modern decor with Scandinavian touches works well – the wine cabinet is sure to draw the eye. The brothers conjure up creative dishes incorporating international influences, the finesse of French cuisine and Japanese seasonings. Think celeriac glazed with soy sauce in a vegetarian concoction with delicate sweet/salty/spicy nuances. Goyvaerts is a name that is synonymous with culinary excellence!" - Michelin Inspector

Delicious evening at Goyvaerts. The dishes all had a great taste, with only one (steak tartare) out of the seven courses being a little less, compared with the others, but still very tasty. The wines were all very nicely paired with the dishes, complimenting it in different ways. Now, what really brings down my evaluation is the service, both regarding the dishes and the wines. All the explanations were simply lacking. For the first course, the whole explanation of the dish was "radish". And that repeated with all following courses, with very brief explanations that didn't tell much at all of what we were eating. With the wines, we had even less, sometimes with the waiter only reading the name of the wine and leaving. There was no telling on the grapes, region, taste notes, why it was paired with the dish... and that for sure wasn't for a lack of time because of a busy night. It was a Tuesday with a total of 6 tables. All in all, a delicious evening, but an overall lacking experience.

From the moment we step into Goyvaerts, we know we’re in for a remarkable dining experience. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between elegance and warmth, with thoughtful decor that sets the tone for the evening. We love the attention to details from the leather napkin ring holder to the other decorations in the dinning room. The starters were a delightful burst of flavors, beautifully plated and perfectly seasoned. For the main course, we opted for the Turbot. The balance of flavors was exquisite, demonstrating the chef's skill and creativity. Dessert was a highlight with amazing presentations as well. Also, great wine pairings suggested by the knowledgeable staff. Service was impeccable! Xander was very attentive and knowledgeable, also with other staffs who are clearly passionate about the food and experience they provide. Overall, Goyvaerts is truly a culinary gem! It’s an experience that transcends mere dining into a world of flavor and artistry. We’d love to return here again.

We had a lunch reservation at Goyvaerts on December 1, 2024, to celebrate our wedding, right after getting married at City Hall. We booked weeks in advance, mentioned the occasion, and even emailed our dietary restrictions. Despite this, when we called on our way to the restaurant, they had no record of our booking and seemed surprised that a group of six was coming. When we arrived, there was no apology, no acknowledgment of our special day, and not even a simple gesture like offering a vase for my bridal bouquet. While the food was delicious, the atmosphere felt ordinary, and the service fell short of what we expected from a restaurant of this level when you pay more than a thousand euros.

We had an exceptional experience at this restaurant! The cozy and stylish interior design provided a perfect atmosphere, offering both privacy and comfort. The staff's excellent care, beautiful dishware, and mindful consideration of my allergies made the dining experience truly memorable. The food not only looked incredible but also exceeded tasting expectations. This restaurant deserves every bit of recognition as a star establishment.

We had a fantastic evening in this restaurant. We ordered a 5-course menu paired with wines. Everything from the beginning to the end was great. The staff was professional and helpful, and the food was real art but very tasty. Not to be missed if you are in Eindhoven.

We had a splendid day night in the Goyvaerts restaurant. The chef, Jesse, delighted us with a show as we were witnesses - front seats- to how he cooked and prepared all the dishes with so much care and conversation. His staff is truly amazing, the coziness of the restaurant is top notch, from the cutlery, the plating and the little details engraved in the napkins. This was a very nice dining experience to celebrate our anniversary, and we are happy with the choice. If I could give only one tiny remark: more dedication or preparation when it comes describing the wines. It’s like “this is a champagne from France” we already know that 😅, tell us more about the wine house or why it was paired with this dish etc. The wines were explained well, but could improve since the flavors were SPOT ON! I would come here again, I loved this restaurant. Thanks Jesse for your passion put into all of your customers and dishes.

This is now my third update as Goyvaerts as moved from the fancy part of what is essentially still the towns main bar street to a nearby chapel slightly outside of the center. We were excited to see if they had managed to keep up their high standards in this new setting. If you had anything to complain previously it might of been the rather tight fit which their former restaurant was, conversely, they now have a sea of space. The spacious and tastefully decorated restaurant is relaxing and private. The playlist of soft beats remains as it always did and a massive wine rack divider shields you from the bar and kitchen. We can only imagine what goes on there to require such measures ;) As always though, Goyvaerts did not disappoint in any way and it would be hard to find any criticism. Several excellent and very interesting but not over-the-top courses lead up to a main. We have noticed over our visits that the main course always is less adventurous than the courses leading up to it. The main course does not disappoint though as in our experience it is of unbelievable quality. So, yes, Goyvaerts has only grown with their location switch. Hope to be back soon for more butterflies and flowers :)

Updated 8-Dec-2023: new venue is quite nice, the service however dropped from 5 stars to 2, and the food quality dropped 1 star. Very sad. I've eaten here twice now at the new venue, each time took more than 5 hours to finish a 5 course meal. totally ridiculous. The last time I ate their we were all waiting 45min between clearing the last dish, and dessert being delivered. I'll never eat here again. Food here is quite good, exceptional considering the price, hard to imagine you can do better for the money. The presentation was also well done, especially the amuse and small flowers on each dish. The wine pairing was ok-good (not as good as zarzo, obviously). I've eaten here several more times, it's been consistently good.
