Herzig

"In the 15th district, Sören Herzig's restaurant is on the ground floor of the former Dorotheum Fünfhaus (auction house and pawn office). In this listed building dating back to the 1920s, the dining space was once an auction hall and has a minimalist, industrial-style atmosphere that is reminiscent of a New York gallery – casual and original. Beautiful parquet flooring, comfortable designer chairs and artwork by the likes of Peter Jellitsch and Clemens Wolf underscore the tastefully stylish interior. The spectacular rooftop terrace has a fantastic view, making it a great spot for an aperitif or nightcap. As for the food, the modern dishes are made from the best ingredients and without excessive gimmickry, eg trout, almond, koji, sea buckthorn. There is a set menu in a large or smaller format, which can also be made vegetarian by prior arrangement." - Michelin Inspector

Made it here the very first dinner for me in Vienna, great services and very thoughtful staff, where every detail is meticulously curated to offer an exceptional dining experience. From the elegantly plated dishes to the precise service, it goes beyond my expectations. Highly recommend to try out the wine pairing (non-alcoholic) it was so good , and level up the dishes.

Had an amazing dinner last night. From when we first walked in and was greeted warmly , to when we left and got a goodbye wave from the somelier who we had be chatting to throughout the night , who was attending another table, ....everything was perfect. We sat and started with an Amazing glass of Champagne, then an amazing degustation began . Course after course of perfectly balanced flavours , paired with specially selected wines, it was hit after hit. (We had 1 wine pairing that was not to our taste) This was a world class dining experience, on par with any of the best meals we've had around the world Highly recommend And no issues with speaking English, as all the staff and the chef , spoke English. No excuses to miss this while in Vienna .

I took the 7-course tasting menu and the wine pairing. Everything was excellent, except one fish course and the first of the two dessert. The reason for the low rating is that as you arrive they ask you if you’d like to enjoy a glass of champagne on the roof (“it’s a wonderful view”, they say. I took it, getting the impression that it was offered; I instead paid €24 for that. I think this is borderline, but the low rating is not determined by this. When the bill arrived, there was an extra €14 for the first glass of wine AFTER the champagne. Now, given that I ordered the full tasting menu and the full wine pairing, I cannot understand why they are charging for a glass of wine with the amouse-buche of the tasting menu. I did not ask for any extra wine. And I strongly believe that charging €14 (that is less than 4 of the final bill) for a pairing of the a mouse-buche is not appropriate and a kind of cheating. When I ask for explanation of the item on the bill I was told “I think I told you that was an extra”. Frankly, I am quite sure he did not, and frankly having taken the full wine pairing I cannot accept why the charged for a glass of wine that they spontaneously brought to pair one of the plate of the tasting menu. Especially given that they already charge for the champagne offered to “enjoy the view from the roof deck” which I already thought was borderline. Stefano Monterosso

One of my favourite fine dining places in Vienna. Creative, tasty and flawless execution. Warm and welcoming service makes you feel at home. Also great take out during 2020 / 2021.
