Last night we had diner at HIU and this restaurant is exactly what Cambrils needs.
HIU stands for the combination of Spanish and Thai cuisine, which might sound a bit complex, but it definitely works! We had the tasting menu and from the start till the end all dishes were great. The slow cooked leek, seabass in its own emulsion and short rib with vanilla were from another level and showcase the enormous potential of the chef and his team. The interaction between the person dining and the kitchen makes it an extra special experience, they work in an open kitchen and the guest can watch everything they do. If the chef offers you a drink/chupito in the end please do choose the red pepper one, you won’t believe how great it is till you taste it.
The price for the menu was very decent, my advice is to go as soon as you can cause these guys will get a Michelin star withing the next 1.5 years. The only recommendation I have for the restaurant is to tell a bit more about the wine that is being served and please consider to offer a wine pairing (I know not a lot of restaurants offer this in Spain but it would take the experience to an ever higher level).
